I would go back just for the pommes frites. I love when restaurants create something simple perfectly. Piping hot, cloud like fluffiness inside, and a golden crisp exterior with all the sumptuousness of a well seasoned fry--plus a tinge of sweet and herb. Truly perfect. If places like The Market (RIP) can be known for their Spring Fling cake, then Bistro Vendome should be known for these fries! We also had the crepe appetizer (wouldn't order again--too many salty and conflicting flavors), frisée salad with sous vide egg, mussels (that came with more fries!), and the vegetarian tagine. All lovely, but not as good as those damn pommes frites! Wait staff was courteous, quick, and professional. Pricing is what you'd expect for a French bistro on Larimer. Atmosphere was okay. Maybe I'm dumb and missed where restaurants post temporary closures, so feel free to correct me and I'll update my review. This is for yesterday, 6/3. My husband and I were driving into Denver from Omaha on our way back home and really wanted to try Bistro Vendome since we don't come across many French bistros. It was advertised at our hotel during our first pass through of Denver but we had gotten in too late to go. I didn't make a reservation since I wasn't sure when we could get into town, and when it seemed like it would be around 6pm, I was excited to come here. I figured if they didn't have tables, we could grab some food to go instead, and their Google info says they do curbside pickup. From 5pm to 6pm as we were driving, I tried calling 6 or 7 different times to see if we can order food but every call was unanswered. I assumed they were too busy and couldn't answer all calls and eventually I'd get through, which is normal for many places. Around 6, we made it to downtown, tried to find parking, finally parked, walked to the restaurant... only to find they are closed for a private event. ???????? Is there any way of letting customers know this before they make it to the front door of the restaurant? How are we supposed to know you're closed if you don't pick up any calls and Google and Yelp both say you're open, offer takeout, etc? So I guess... either have a reservation or be aware they might not be open for dining. read more

Have dined many times at Bistro Vendome, first time at the new location and I am sad to say it wasn't good! The escargot had no flavor, the duck breast was tough and the lobster bisque was mediocre at best. The soufflé however was delicious. The staff was very friendly and nice but our meal took forever, so much so they reduced our bill. Reservation 7:45pm we were the very last table to leave at 10:30pm! I'm all for a nice long leisurely European dinner but at leisure not because I had to wait so long for my meal! The new location is certainly easier to get to and Park however I loved the ambiance and decor of the original location in Larimer, you really felt like you were in Paris!! Just as a quick notice do NOT get the butter, bread, or sparkling water... Now if you are rich and dine like this typically disregard this review. I was completely blindsided however at the costs and the venue of this place. What looked to be a cute atmosphere was quickly ruined by the loud atmosphere, ridiculously dim lighting, and blaring lo-fi music (so loud in fact that I could not hear my girlfriend). The food -- it was okay I suppose. I was not pleasantly surprised, I was not let down, it's exactly what you would expect for a "French bistro" in downtown Denver. That being said the pricing was ridiculous. After ordering a $40 entree and two $16 appetizer, I was expecting around $70-$75. I was shocked looking at the $99 bill after learning that they charged us for sparkling water, bread for the table, and added an automatic 5% gratuity before asking for a second gratuity on the check. What's even more ridiculous WE WERE CHARGED $7.50 FOR BUTTER. What started as a quaint and well-budgeted date night, turned into a $100 unexpected splurge, given that there was no disclosure that they charged for any of these "amenities". My friend had a cocktail off their menu and I had an espresso martini and it was delish. Service was amazing. Host was kind, they were really accommodating despite us being very late. I will preface this review by saying I'm a long time customer, at least a decade, and am writing this as an evaluation of the new restaurant compared to the old. Most of the menu has been shifted from French to more "French-inspired." The onion soup has been replaced by a vegetarian garlic soup with very little depth. The Coq Au Vin tasted as thought it was fresh veggie broth with very little depth. Most sadly I have to say the soufflé has been changed to gluten free and it loses everything that made it such a beautiful experience. The food wasn't bad, the service was great. Brought some associates from out of town here for a semi-business dinner. Everyone was well pleased. First, they were accommodating when we showed up with two more than the reservation. The service was attentive and helpful with menu questions for those who don't know French cuisine. Also with the wine recommendations too. Pate and escargot were scarfed down pretty quickly to raves and everyone loved their entrees too. The place is broken up into different rooms with different decor. I have eaten at Bistro Vendome three times since it opened in Park Hill, all for brunch. Each time, it has surpassed expectations. The food is so good and the staff so welcoming and wonderful, that it is exactly as my friend who I went with described: French food without pretension. My favorite dish so far is the Monte Cristo, but I also most recently had the omelette with spinach, mushroom and chèvre, which was buttery and delicious. I also always order the pastry plate, which has a selection of French pastries, including a croissant, as well as the pain et beurre, a mini baguette with a healthy serving of butter. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Denver, and I'm happy that it's even closer to my house than before. read more

Where to start.. As you walk up you see the unexpected patio, which is gorgeous! If it wasn't so hot out, we wouldn't have minded dining out there. We started with the escargot and the "all four" option for the charcuterie. The charcuterie board for 24 dollars was very plentiful.. With a couple more pieces of bread, we would have polished off more than we should have. For dinner we had a very nice and very reasonably priced bottle of Bordeaux. Went perfect with our heavy duck confit and light buttery bass entrées. For dessert we had the apple and pear tart on Rachael's suggestion. It was beautiful. Amazing place. My boyfriend and I were walking downtown and stumbled across this cute restaurant. We sat at the bar and talked with the nicest bartender all night. I'd heard about this spot because of their great patio and always wanted to try it, so when some friends and I were meeting for brunch we decided to make a reservation! As it was a cold day we were seated inside, and I'll be honest, there's not a ton of atmosphere here on the inside. It's a beautiful restaurant but quiet, and definitely not a bottomless brunch type place. We ended up just ordering a bottle of bubbles for the table and making our own mimosas, which worked great. I ordered the Oeufs Bénédicte au Confit de Canard and YOU GUYS. Full stop on that sentence because it needs emphasis. It was exquisite. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten. It was so flavorful and tender and just perfect. It was perfect! I don't know how else to describe it. Every benedict I've had since has left me feeling empty and sad. The sauce for the escargot, we asked for more bread to sop it all up! The steaks were cooked to perfection and were so buttery, just melted in our mouths! I recommend the butter sauce add on they have. I had gotten the Roquefort (blue cheese cream) and it was good but not as good as the butter sauce my husband got. I've been searching for a great French place and I think this will be my go-to and recommended restaurant in Denver! The food is tasty, the prices are fair, and the service is fabulous! I ordered the escargot and French onion soup for starters. The escargot was so buttery and garlic-y and perfection in all the ways escargot should be! The French onion soup was also delish. Melty cheese is always a win in my book. Both the bf and I ordered the steak frites. He ordered the classique and I got the au poivre. Both were fabulous and perfectly cooked. The fries are seasoned with something similar to crack because I could not stop eating them!!! The aioli they came with was also delicious. I would go back just to eat those fries!! My boyfriend and I almost passed by this restaurant, but the super cute decorations enchanted us into walking towards it in absolute curiosity. Surprise, surprise the super cute decorations compliment the super cute French restaurant. The menu seemed really appetizing so we decided to try this place out. I ordered the eggs benedict with lamb meat and my tastebuds were practically screaming in delight when I tasted it. The lamb wasn't too salty, and it meshed with the eggs benedict very well. Even the side dishes were rich in flavor. I could not stop eating the carrots. After asking the server what the chefs did to make the carrots taste so magical, it turns out that they soak it into the lamb to give it a unique and wonderful taste. I'm definitely interested in visiting this place during dinner. They seem more known for their evening dishes. If their brunch dish is already so good I can only imagine how lovely their evening dishes would be. read more

Nonetheless, we asked about seating outside, bc my standard is, if you don't ask, the answer is always no. He seated us and afterwards, Chris, our waiter was there! I really wanted to love this place, I was so excited to go for my birthday! They have a super cute private patio, great for an intimate dinner, takes you back to a little street in France. The food was Ok, the mussels and frites were awesome, the escargot were good, but lacking a bit of flavor, and the fried Gnocchi were pretty good. We would have tried more things, however we got up to use the ladies room, and tried to ask the servers by the bar for directions, and the lady ( her name was Rachel) was absolutely rude, directly asked us if we were " dining there" to be able to use their restroom. I am not sure if this was racial profiling or if it was the fact that we were the youngest table there, however it was very inappropriate. Back at our table, we told our waitress ( her name was Julia) about the incident and she apologized, and she was very attentive and nice the little time we were there. I find it very unfortunate that she even told us she had let her manager know and the manager never took the time to come to our table and at least acknowledge the issue, which does not really make me want to come back to this restaurant, and we ended up leaving to celebrate my birthday elsewhere. read more

We had high expectations for Bistro Vendome and unfortunately they didn't meet them. It all started when we got to the exterior and couldn't open the door. Another couple followed us and also couldn't get the door open. So we stood there in front of windows of people wondering how to get in. Eventually we just pulled really hard and the door popped out. Even with those who worked there being near the door and windows no one helped us get inside... The interior is nothing special, and we waited quite a bit in between courses for our table to be cleared even though there were people working there standing around and near our table often. It always surprises me when people are there to work but not attune to the customers at all and therefore not working-it's poor management. I think the lighting could be dimmed a little to create a more romantic atmosphere. The LED fake candles should be replaced with real ones. The food was nothing special. Neither were the cocktails. My vodka cocktail sounded so good on the menu but had absolute 0 taste to it. I started with a salad that was bland even though it sounded stellar. Steak frites also tasteless, the steak not seasoned well and the fries soggy and overly dressed with sugar? Strange combo. The chocolate soufflé was the highlight. read more

Celebrating husband's birthday, I stated that on the reservation and to my surprise the staff had all signed a Birthday card for him. The server we had was amazing she recommended (per our request) and described everything perfectly. The servers do help each other out so the ambiance was relaxing and everything flowed smoothly.
