Pros Food Selection Ambiance Hours of Operation Cons Cleanliness Wait Times Asian food central, that pretty much sums of Bistro B. It is located in an area predominantly filled with Asian businesses, and so is this restaurant. If you are a fan of trying different Asian foods, their menu has hundreds of items to try, many are Viet, and some Korean, and other Asian nations. For myself, I stick to what I know and occasionally, allow people that I come with to experiment on me. There are tons of options for anyone that likes to venture out, I however am not that person nor is my stomach. They do have spring rolls, pho, chicken and rice, beef and noodles, and etc for more American geared patrons. The decorations are standard for many Asian businesses, lots of lights, and flashy decorations. These bring high energy to the location and lift the mood for the families that visit. Lastly, their hours of operations on the weekend are great because they stay open as late as 2 am so no matter when you get hungry, you're most likely able to get something from here. With the groups of people that come in and the preparation of foods in the restaurant there can be issues with cleanliness sometimes. There may be congestion or occasional flies that make there way into the business while other patrons are eating. There have been instances when a utensil had a smudge on it here and there and the waiters were asked to bring out newer utensils. The rush of business is something that takes away from their efforts to clean up. When there is high business times, the waits can be crazy because many of the families like to sit and chat after their meals are eaten. With the spacing outside these are not usually big enough to host an entire family. If you're outside waiting to get in it could take up to 45 minutes to an hours simply depending on how long someone wants to talk after they've eaten. I... don't know where to begin. Let me start by saying this is the Waffle House of Asian cuisine, I mean that in the best way so I'm really just referring to cleanliness and service. First time trying dine-in. I've heard from different people that I should try out their food items just to get something from their humongous menu. It's very overwhelming. And not everything has a description. Also portion sizes are large and prices are very reasonable. We went 9:30 PM on a Thursday night since we knew they were open late (till midnight). The place was packed. Clearly a cult following and loyal fan base. Waited to be seated for 20 minutes with about 8 people waiting behind to get their seats. They didn't have enough staff to clean and turnover tables so no problem for us to wait. Staff cleared the dirty plates and didn't actually wipe the table. He was also the one to seat us. So much sticky, wet residue from whatever the previous group at that table ate. Wasn't it pretty standard to at least wipe the table even before COVID? Also the pho/soup spoons were visibly dirty. Our server came over to us after 3 minutes of being seated and we were only about a 1/3 way through the menu. Asked if he could come back. And he eventually did... after 20 minutes. For reference, the table seated after us ordered and received their food before our order was taken... and no, he didn't ask for our order after delivering their food, just walked away as we stared puppy-eyed at him. Eventually we ordered: #15 appetizer: combo popcorn chicken, fish ball, tofu #40 Charcoal Chicken Pho #550 Korean BBQ beef stone pot Once the order was in, our pho arrived within 5 minutes - well before our appetizer did. No problem, we were starving. I really didn't enjoy the taste of the pho though, wouldn't recommend it as it had a subtle sweet taste that made the broth taste unappetizing. I asked for a fork since the pho spoons were dirty. He handed us two cutlery sets that had sauce finger prints on the napkins. The fork inside mine was dirty. Then the app arrived. I was excited & took pics as soon as it was put down on our table. Wasn't until I was about to take a bite that I noticed there was some hairs fried to some of the food. I just pushed it to the side and ate a different piece (the fish ball was delicious!). I quickly realized there was MORE than just a few hairs and I didn't really want to spend my time picking it out. When they brought out the KBBQ stone pot I showed it to that waiter/cook who asked if I wanted to replace it but we decided no since our main food was already out, so she said she would take it off. The KBBQ beef was served in this stone pot bowl that kept the contents really warm. I removed the top layer of food to reveal the rice and took a little bit of everything to get a bite. The rice was BURNING hot. I can handle hot rice, but this was another level. Burned my tongue. They put the stone pot on two plates so I thought I'd use one of them to air out the rice a little bit, but the bottom plate was DIRTY (had dirty soap water and some food bits on it). Waited 5 minutes for the rice to cool down and it would not because of how insulated that stone pot was. If you get a stone pot, ask them for an extra plate on the side!! The beef was also cooked immaculately but not enough beef for the amount of rice. Our server returned to say we were ready to pay and said a number I didn't understand since he was talking really fast and not really looking at us. I actually wanted to order a boba drink before paying. I got a Taro Coconut Smoothie with Pudding and Boba topping. He added it and then I handed him my card and then he gave me a receipt from the little handheld order/ticket machine he had. When I looked at the receipt- the appetizer (#15) that we had returned was still on there. I don't think they are out to cheat anybody, they were clearly very busy. Just take a look at your receipt and double check for yourself. They quickly gave me a refund on my card, but if I hadn't checked... I would have paid extra. Also hate to mention this, some staff members got into a verbal & what sounded like a physical altercation. It happened behind us, but we did not want to turn around and make a bigger scene. Heard some smashing/crashing noise & a lot of yelling. Hence... the Waffle House reference. Honestly my favorite part about the experience was the fish balls and my Taro Coconut Smoothie with pudding (they forgot the boba). And God Bless them eggrolls (yum)! The place was a little too uncleanly for me and the service really non existent, but wow where else can you go for a late night dine in eat in that area? They do serve quality food but I think it's best to ask someone who knows what's good there because not all menu items are made alike. After ordering two dishes, one of drunken noodles and another one of vermicelli. We took a few bites and the quality of and taste of the food was horrific! We called the waitress over and the best she would do as far as compensating was to offer 30% off of the check with more resistance by me. She took off one of the entrees. I love the slight crunch it has but when you bite into it...it's soft inside. I always order with extra jalepeno but it wasn't enough today. My parents ate the fish and bun. It was good! Bistro B is definitely a welcoming place with all of its lights and nightlife. The menu is welcoming too as the entire categories of all food from the continent Asia is in there. The problem though is that it's a hit or miss when you want to get something you're familiar with, and for me it's usually the latter. I tried their Korean and Chinese items and tasted nothing like the authentic original. However, I do commend their drink menu for it's variety, though be careful as some drinks are very exotic and contain different beans and stuff. I was placing a order for 3 today, bill with 25% tip. Over $70. As I was pressing send I noticed the address was wrong for my food to be delivered. I use Uber and Uber Eats 2- 4 times a day. I had Bistro B for Christmas Lunch (the meal where you actually eat before the Christmas dinner). The pho was savory and the eggrolls were crispy. My only complaint was the service I received. It took forever for me to place the order. There were two waiters (one that had seated us) that were just standing around talking to each other. We tried waiting a bit, but it turned out that they had forgotten about us, and we had to wave another waiter to take our order. Once we placed the order, we received it pretty quickly. Last time, I also ordered a portion of fried salmon to eat with rice, but when the salmon came out, I saw it was all flour, and there was more breading than the piece of fish. Eating a whole meal but having to choose flour from beginning to end, into the stomach is boring. Just now, I ordered the same as the last time, I will probably never support Bistro B again. Eat the Duong Chau fried rice the day before, reheat it the next day and eat it again. As soon as I finished eating, I had a sore throat, a feeling of dryness and discomfort in my throat. So much so that a few days later, I had a cough, a stuffy nose, and cold-like symptoms: phlegm when I coughed. Because the throat is affected by these oils, the impact is very serious. Food is good but service could be better. They were super busy last Sunday. We had the family dinner for 3 ($36). Comes with Mekong Fish Soup, caramelized fish, Vietnamese salad with pork and shrimp, steamed chicken, and salt toasted squid. We especially loved the soup and caramelized fish. The salad was fresh and crunchy but had way too much sugar and vinegar (sauce). The squid (cuttle fish) was over cooked. Next time, I think we will just order the dinner for 2 ($30). The extra dish wasn't worth it for us. We enjoy these home style Vietnamese dishes because it would prob take 2 hours to make everything but here the food was ready within 10-15 mins and the price is definitely reasonable. Regarding the service. I asked server for a sauce and he said they didn't have it (lime/salt/pepper). Then told me he would bring a sweet and sour sauce which never happened. Asked another server if they truly didn't have limes and she said they did but then she brought me lemons. I think it was a miscommunication. Another table had a hard time communicating with the servers too. I am not sure if it was too loud or they did not understand English. At any rate, we will continue to come to Bistro B because of the extensive food menu and affordable prices. If you like egg rolls they sell them for cheap at the check out counter. They are the best finger foods for house party and you can't beat bistro B price. My friends devoured the egg rolls quickly so I got no pictures to show here.
