There is generally a long wait if you don't come here within the first hour of opening, so do take care in getting here early if you want to minimize wait times. We ended up waiting 40 minutes-ish, which was fine with me. We did finally get seated, and since we spent the whole morning looking at the menu. We ordered the fried potatoes together. He got the fried chicken on toast for his main, and I got the lamb breakfast sandwich. I thought the food was only ok. The fried potatoes were decent. The cook on the potato was not really what I expected, as I thought the potatoes would be crispier. The sauce really saves this dish. I had a bite of the fried chicken on toast and it was pretty good. The chicken was well cooked and nicely seasoned. I also thought my lamb burger was just ok. The meat was pretty good but I wasn't a fan of the bun as it was a little dry. We did also order drinks. My boyfriend ordered matcha. He said it was ok and wished it was a little stronger. I had a caramel latte and thought it was good. Overall, this is a decent place to get brunch. I think if I were to come back, I would maybe try different menu items. The prices were good and the overall ambience is great.

It was quite empty when we got there, which was a surprise as this place is quite good, but we went first thing in the morning so it was understandable. Perhaps it was the rain outside, but this brunch place felt very chill and peaceful. Our server was helpful and took our order quickly. We started with drinks. I got an iced tea (that I no longer see in the current menu) and my boyfriend got a matcha with strawberry milk. I thought my tea was pretty good, although it was a tad too subtle for me. I could taste hints of peach but not much else. My boyfriend liked his matcha drink and thought it was one of the better matchas he's had in our short Winnipeg trip (I would agree). Our mains came quickly. He ordered the chiquilas (and he ordered it with chicken) and he really liked it. I had a bite as well and it was a nice interesting flavour. I was craving bacon and eggs so I ordered the classic breakfast. It was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good and crispy. I added sausages on the side and I'm glad I did. Overall, this is a great place to have brunch. They have cocktails as well as a diverse drink selection. They have some interesting stuff on the menu, such as the Palestinian breakfast, which I am curious to try if I ever come back.

My mother, sister, and I went to Stella's on Grant on Friday, April 18th and each ordered the house salad with chicken. The service was great, and the food tasted good. Shortly after, all three of us began feeling unwell with similar stomach-related symptoms. None of us had eaten anything else that day. The next morning (April 19th), my mom called the restaurant to express concern that the salads may have caused us to feel unwell. When my mom explained that we had all gotten sick after eating at the restaurant, the first thing the manager said was that Stella's only uses the freshest ingredients. My mom clarified that she wasn't calling to make demands, but simply to report that we had all eaten the same meal at their restaurant and felt ill with similar symptoms shortly afterward. The manager said she would notify the kitchen, hoped we felt better -- and that was it. To add context, my mom and sister have both regularly ordered that same salad from this location in the past without any issues. We understand that illness can happen for many different reasons, and we weren't expecting the restaurant to accept fault without first conducting a proper review. Even so, we had hoped for a response at the outset of the call that reflected care and concern -- one that acknowledged the situation, prioritized guest well-being, and reassured us that it would be taken seriously. While the manager did eventually say she would inform the kitchen, that only came after my mom made it clear she wasn't asking for anything, like a comped meal. Further, while the freshness of Stella's ingredients is relevant given the concerns we raised, for the manager to lead with that -- as her first response to a customer reporting that she and two family members became sick shortly after dining -- came across as defensive rather than empathetic or solution-oriented. I appreciate the manager may not have been in a position to assume responsibility on behalf of Stella's for our illness; however, simply making us feel heard, taken seriously, and treated with care would have gone a long way. Overall, the way our concerns were handled left us disappointed.

The atmosphere was just as inviting as the staff; there was a side for serious breakfast eaters and a side for coffee and pastries type people. Speaking of pastries- the "cafe style" display of various goodies (cinnamon buns, muffins, croissants etc) was *drool* delicious looking. Will I eat here again- definitely. My husband and I both got the eggs benedict (he got the braised beef, I got the avocado smash). The English muffins were clearly made in store so they did not have that "store bought" flavour.... which some of us may prefer ‍. But the eggs were cooked perfectly soft, the hollandaise was to die for, and can we just highlight the POTATOES for a second . I was skeptical at first because they were a little dark, but seriously- they were amazing. Crispy, salty.. what more could you want. I also had the cappuccino, we know how I love a cappuccino- however this one hit a little under the bar. The coffee was strong so if you're into strong coffee then this is the place for you. Next time I'll try a different warm beverage. We loved this little spot- keep an eye out for more visits here. Next time- Cinabun french toast!

I drove between Steinbach and Winnipeg almost every day, and loved it. I'm a road trip person and it was enjoyable when traffic moves. This Sal's is located on St. Anne's Road at Fermor Avenue, which is the Trans-Canada Highway. It was easy to pull off the highway and drop by this eatery for lunch before I caught my flight back to Toronto (technically, Mississauga). This Sal's is located in a plaza with a Shell gas station, Dollarama, and FreshCo. I ended up parking behind the Sal's and walking in. I liked that there was a shallow ramp up to the doors for accessibility. The entrance door is on the left, You exit on the left. This Sal's is the most well-oiled machine that I've ever been to. A man seated everyone. Another woman made sure that each table and booth was clean. Servers worked like clockwork. Wow! Kristen, who would end up being my server, indicated that my booth was just wiped down. Both seats were wet. I asked if I could get some paper towel to wipe one of the seats down. She got me some. I dried my side of the booth and then sat down. Looking back, should a customer actually do this work? I frankly didn't mind helping out because I just wanted to sit down without the seat being damp. I don't know if she simply was tired and was more concerned warning me. I basically offered to dry off one side. Anyway, I love dropping by Sal's. I can rely on consistent, yummy food. It's a Winnipeg staple. This location is open 24 hours a day. I have my usual meal that I get at any Sal's: - Diet Pepsi - Bacon mushroom swiss nip platter, with fries and coleslaw, and pickles I got gravy for my fries. It was extra. It's worth getting gravy for your fries. It didn't take long for my meal to get to me. The wait allowed me to upload photos to Yelp. My Diet Pepsi hit the spot on a hot summery day. It was cold, fizzy, and refreshing. I got a refill midway eating my meal. The bacon mushroom swiss nip was excellent. A nip is a burger. The patty was delicious with the bacon, melted swiss cheese, and sliced mushrooms. It has everything that I love about a burger. The bun was soft and yummy. The platter came with a few sliced pickles and coleslaw. I loved the crunch and contrast that both of them added to my meal. It came with fries. I got a lot of them. The rich beef gravy was delightful with the fries. So good! I couldn't fit dessert in. I got the bill and settled it at the table. I used my credit card to tip and tap the payment machine. Done! I used the washroom before I ran a couple of final errands around Winnipeg before my flight. The stall that I used in the women's washroom was clean. No complaints. It was nice checking out this Sal's. I have passed by it for eons. I'm glad that I can finally say that I've been here. The food was great. Staff were nice, competent, and efficient. (291)
