Sandwich and shrimp skewers were fresh and flavourful. The loose leaf herbal tea made a very unique accompaniment to our lunch. We'll be back when back in Winnipeg if we can fit it in.

I was so impressed by everything that we ordered that I can definitely see making this a regular spot for a casual lunch/dinner outing. First of all, I am a tea fiend, and the selection of loose teas that they offer here blew me away! I chose one of the fruitier green varieties and was very satisfied. My friend and I each ordered a bowl of soup (broccoli cheddar and chicken gumbo), and split a chicken quesadilla. It was the perfect early dinner. But what is any dinner without... DESSERT! Saucers has a great dessert display case showcasing about ten different dessert options (many celiac-friendly). We opted to share the Tia Maria to finish off the meal, and let me tell you... Best decision of the night. It was absolutely to DIE for; but then again, who doesn't love a dessert consisting of chocolate chip cookies and whipped cream?! Our entire meal for 2 came t just over $38, so definitely a reasonably priced meal, and exceptional value for the quality of food we had. This is a little gem that the world needs to know about. Pass it on.

On my final full vacation day in Winnipeg in early July, I had a hankering for schnitzel. I have…read morenever had any here. I did a search and Sam's appeared. Sam's has been around for over twenty years. I had never heard about it, likely because I didn't frequent too many eateries on Ness Avenue when I lived in Winnipeg. I had to visit. It was easy to find Sam's. The huge sign helped. It's across the street from a 7-Eleven. This eatery has a drive-thru. I normally like hitting one, but decided to dine in. I backed my car into a parking spot and walked it, passing by a couple of bikers who were about to leave. I was greeted by the nicest man. He said that I could sit anywhere and he'd come over. I sat in a cozy corner. I got a menu. I was happy looking at everything. I got the following items: - Red berry hibiscus lemonade - Chicken schnitzel in hunter-style sauce with spaetzle The hunter-style sauce consisted of mushrooms, onions, and light garlic that are sautéed in a pan with clarified butter and gravy. It sounded perfect. My red berry hibiscus lemonade came out first. It was refreshing and yummy. I don't like lemonade with a ton of sugar. This one was perfect. It had a hint of sweetness. I love hibiscus and lemon together. It was a generous size, too. My chicken schnitzel plate came out next. The schnitzel was delicious. The chicken was juicy with a thin, crispy coating around it. The hunter-style sauce was delicious. I love anything with garlic, mushrooms, and onions. This sauce was divine. I haven't had spaetzle in a while. I was fortunate to have some when I was in Frankfurt nearly a decade ago. This spaetzle reminded me of what I had in Frankfurt. It was yummy and authentic. This place had German chocolate cake, which I love. However, I was too stuffed to get some. Next time! I paid at the counter. I used my credit card and tipped. It was a smooth transaction. I needed to use the washroom. I had to ask the man to unlock the door. It's a single stall for the women's. It was clean. No complaints. This place is a gem. It offers authentic German good eats. I'd return again when I'm back in the city. (333)
