Bland. Dry. Cheap on toppings. Way too much dough. Why can't Pittsburgh get pizza right?

The review I posted on the 23rd disappeared, so this is a rewrite of that review…read more My granddaughter got the regular beef burger (can't remember the name of that one) and I got the Wagyu burger as usual. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. The food, of course, was good, served hot and as ordered. No complaints. Our server, Amy was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable and patient (we asked a lot of questions). She was also very friendly, genuinely friendly, not forced friendly because she had to be. You can always tell. It felt like being at an old friend's house for dinner. Great service truly (imo) enhances the meal. I'd definitely want Amy for our server the next time we visit!

Great branding concept, menu full of fun flavor combinations, and very active social media…read morepresence. Burgatory is exactly what modern restaurants should be. They aim to make a memorable experience with clever marketing, current food trends, and very customizable items. This location is even cooler as it pays homage to the once Blue Spruce Motel that was demolished for the current shopping mall. The wall has a cool graphic with the callout and the fits perfectly into the decor. Only downfall is the online ordering pickup. I get it... every restaurant wants to find a way to minimally impact their employees with fulfilling orders for takeout. But sending customers to the bar and forcing them to flag down the bartender... it's just not right. Designate a counter spot, add signage, or bring the bags to the front desk... For a company up on everything, this location should reconsider how they serve takeout orders. Still the food was phenomenal... We split a Sonoma Chopped Chicken Salad. Burgatory salads are HUGE! And the ingredients are always super fresh... I mean look at how perfect the avocado is! We tried the wings and... wow! The skin was so perfectly crisp and the seasoning was just spot on with spice and flavor. We tried the onion rings... and well... you can't win them all. The batter was soggy and way too thick. Not sure even the perfect cook could've crisped and fully cooked the batter. We won't be doing these again.

Went out with some friends and really enjoyed our dinner. Make sure to make reservations not a free…read moretable in the place. We were seated quickly and we tried the old fashions. We asked for light on the simple syrup so not too sweet. We order beet salads and the gnocchi starters. The salad just regular beet and lettuce nothing to write home about. But the Ricotta Gnocchi is dangerously delicious. Also heads up it is very rich. Dinner consisted of the Shrimp Risotto not really a table favorite. The mussels and pasta got very positive mmmms. But the Bolognese again was delicious and rich. Dessert was a yummy tiramisu and crème brûle (wish it was bigger) both were scrumptious. The restaurant is a surprisingly well decorated inside and very comfortable and even when fully packed we were able to have a conversation without talking over the noise. Definitely worth trying out in Plum.

Got a Pinot noir wine and waters Starter=soup of the day: tomato w/ chickpea and chorizo- bold tomato flavor and lots of arugula in it. Not so much chorio but flavor was very good, not overly salty. 10/10 After the soup we put our nit-picking goggles on as we knew this was a pretty sophisticated meal. Daily special- pan seared mahi mahi with asparagus fennel kohlabi and arugula salad citrus buerre Blanc. Light citrus flavor is found thru the mahi mahi, its sauce and the salad. Very congruent. Asparagus was a neutral addition. Not flowing with or against the mahi. Fish was cooked well. Just lots of raw red onion on the salad was a little overpowering. 7/10 Red wine braised short rib- didn't ask how well done, so seems chefs choice. We have a preference towards med rare. This was cooked well done making it a tad tough-stringy. Mashed potatoes with some larger pieces of potato, but very neutral plain flavor, great with the beef sauce. Carrots cooked well, just neutral, natural flavor. Overall a very classic flavor combo that works.7/10. Would stop by again to try more dishes. Ps- when paying we noticed final bill to sign was more than first bill at table. When we asked why the difference we were told it's the credit card fee of $3. This was really the first time I've seen this at a restaurant, yet alone at a decent place like one. Would have been best for them to tell us this upfront.

Off the Rails Barbeque and Drafthouse - BBQ Platter

4.5 stars. Off the Rails Barbeque and Drafthouse is a local, family-owned and -operated restaurant…read morethat serves barbecued meats, sides, sandwiches, alcoholic beverages, and more for lunch, dinner, and catering for dining in, pickup, and delivery. Their website says that they use ingredients from local farms and suppliers and make their foods fresh daily. Outside the restaurant are the smokers that they use to slow-cook the meats. The brisket and pork are said to be smoked for 12-14 hours. My husband and I ate at this restaurant years ago, but for some reason my previous review is not here. We liked Off the Rails then and still like it. Most recently, we ordered the BBQ Sampler Platter, which consisted of a 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of pulled pork, 1/2 pound of pulled chicken, 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs, and choice of three sides. I rate the flavors of each of these meats at 5 stars and the flavors of the mac-n-cheese, baked beans, and crispy Brussels sprouts as 4.5 stars each. The pulled pork and pulled chicken came with three bread buns to make sandwiches. I saw three house-made sauces--Carolina Gold, Kansas City, and Lexington-style Mop--and they tasted very good. The ribs were not pull-off-the-bone, but they were probably the first batch of the day. We had arrived 40 minutes after their opening time. An employee had tried to get us to substitute the ribs with another meat, but we instead decided to wait about 20 minutes for the ribs to be done. We also ordered Smoked Fried Wings, which have many available dry rubs and sauces, but we got the house seasoning with no sauce. An employee said a chupacabra rub. These wings tasted fantastic and were the best food of our meal. We LOVED their crispy and delightfully seasoned skin and their juicy insides. I do not have a receipt, but the total price for our foods and one soda should have been just under $100 plus a tip. We had leftovers and put those in large and small plastic containers that I had brought from home. (Other reviewers said that customers are not allowed to take home leftovers, but we went on a day with no special prices, and we had enough leftovers for two more meals at home!) We loved the wings so much that on "wing night" a few days later, we returned for the wings and some other sides. On Wednesdays the restaurant charges only $1 per wing. We ordered the allowed maximum of 6 wings, which we again LOVED, as well as spicy collard greens (4 stars), coleslaw (with little dressing, 3.5 stars), and cornbread (4.5 stars). Note that live music is played on certain days of the week.

This is a very efficient way to run a roadside barbecue. Orders can be placed from your table by QR…read morereader or at register with the friendly staff. Food and drinks are ready in just a few minutes and the dining area is ample with clean tables and clean floors. An upgrade of plastic utensils would be appreciated however. The chili was especially good as was the pork BBQ sandwich. Prices were reasonable to add to the experience. Parking can be a problem but there is some to be found on the other side of the street but lacks a crosswalk so be very careful.
