a pizza in a box

3pm on a Friday. Just got off work and I'm craving good pizza. I got white pizza with pepperoni and the smell of it alone had me mesmerized. The service is what has me writing this review though. It was down pouring outside and there's no room to sit in the shop so the owner asked if I'd like to wait in my car and he'd bring it out to me. I said sure and sure enough 15 minutes later, it was hand delivered. And the pizza is fabulous!!! Highly recommend for good pizza and good service!

Great pizza, fresh toppings, and such a cute little shop. Takes ~45 minutes for a pizza since their each made to order so order ahead!

Pizza margherita with one slice of marinara pizza.

This is very high quality homemade pizza. I got the margherita pizza and also tried two slices of the marinara pizza. The marinara is quite a basic pizza, simple yet tasty. It is made of simply cheese and tomato sauce. My margherita pizza was awesome! It is around 12" which is enough for 1-2 people. It's similar to a Neapolitan style pie, but a little bit thicker. The dough is pretty soft, not too crispy, but also had a nice char on the bottom. You can see the man making the pizza in the tiny restaurant, so you know it's made by hand! Margherita also had basil, nice chunks of mozzarella, tomato chunks (whole tomatoes!) and some sort of spice which was pretty unique. And the price was only $11. I did try to order their raisin bread along with my pie, but they were out of it. However, I would try it the next time I visit. The downside is that they don't deliver and it's cash only. But, this place is worth the drive if you live locally. It's a nice home style pizza place serving pretty cheap Neapolitan-esque pizzas.

Bianco pizza with mushrooms and sweet peppers. Dayum, this was so good.

I will definitely be back. Fast, fresh, and fabulous! Cash only, no cards or checks. Outdoor tables for eating. Carry out only. Masks not required if fully vaxxed, and they use plexiglass shields and have hand sanitizer. Highly recommend! Lasagna,Pizza Bianco with mushrooms and sweet peppers

Marinara with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms and Pizza Bianco.

Always wondered what this place was like and finally decided to stop in. We ordered the Bianco and Marinara with mushrooms, sausage and pep and we really loved it! Pizzas were great! We also bought pasta salad and marinated mushrooms from the deli case and they were both delicious too. We will be back for sure! Don't forget some cash, no credit cards accepted.

Heard so much about this place and I love pizza, so I had to try it. First, it's cash only/take out only, so we went in, ordered, atm, picked it up, and ate at a local cider house. We got a white and a red. They were both decent. I prefer a sourdough crust. They don't compete with Driftwood or Taglio, so I don't think I will return.

Wood. Fired. Pizza. Just those three words together make my mouth water! Frankstown Wood Fired Pizza is a very small take-out pizza place located in between Plum and Penn Hills. It's a very small white building next to an auto parts store. We've ordered pizza's here before and found that it's best to order by phone and pick up since this place is always busy. Also, this store doesn't have anywhere to sit! Pizza's are 12" (6 slices) with the best price in town -- $7 plus $1 for toppings -- coming out of a wood fired oven with a little bit of smoked flavor and char. Toppings are fresh with an ample amount of melted cheese -- doesn't that just make your mouth water? I'd give this pizza place another star if there were seating for eat-in, a restroom for customers, and an atmosphere to match. The store also offers stuffed peppers, hoagies, Italian Ice and deli selections. Call (412) 793-7775 to place your order for pickup!

They limit toppings to 3 toppings per pizza, and that seems like a good decision. Enforce focus and avoid overload. The pickup experience was super easy. Parking was easy, and my order was ready exactly when expected. In terms of the actual food, the salad was very nicely done. Distinct piles of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives, and banana peppers. Fresh greens. A good house Italian dressing on the side. Extremely well executed. The pizza was next level. Light on the cheese. A good amount of sauce. Next level crust with huge crumb and excellent chew. The quality of the crust cannot be overstated. The limitation on toppings really went a long way toward enforcing a nicely constructed pie. I don't know where this place came from, but they are well worth checking out.

Our favorite is the Drunk Meatball: that homemade vodka pizza sauce, and their homemade meatballs, along with the rosettes of ricotta cheese is amazing. Lupo has a wonderful char to the crust and the undercarriage is slightly crispy. The second favorite is the 10th Ward pizza: the combination of meats, peppers, and ricotta makes it amazing. The challenge we have had with Lupo there isn't a place it eat inside, and it takes 20 mins for us to get home, so we have lost some of the warmth and the crust isn't quite as crispy; enter Coven Brewing. We go to Coven and get a beer, we have placed our order with Lupo and we will walk down, get our pizza, walk back and demolish it. Coven has some great beer, especially if you like IPAs; Lupo has Pittsburgh's best pizza; I cannot think of a better pairing. The service at Pizza Lupo is great, they are kind even when their phone is ringing off the hook. Our last time I was getting busy signals because calls were coming in so fast. Somehow they maintain the ability to get a pie out the door in under an hour. When we go there, there are boxes stacked high and they have a steady stream of people entering and leaving, never do I hear a complaint.

I tried a black cherry ale that was delicious. My husband got a Vienna lager he enjoyed. He got the black and gold pizza with potatoes, garlic sauce, pepper, res onion parmesan, and provolone. It is fired in their brick oven with a crispy crust. He enjoyed it but it was a little over done and it was hard to distinguish the toppings as the char was heavy. I got the carbonara. It was definitely not traditional. The sauce was very thick and almost floury. They serve it with pork belly, which does not give the same punch of flavor to cut through the sauce as guanchali or bacon. The papardelle noodle were dry and clumpy. The dish was very heavy. Do not recommend. The place is chill. It is close to the theater. I might try it again if in the area.

Our server (I believe his name was Cody) was genuinely one of the nicest guys ever!! Incredibly amazing energy and super kind to answer and questions or provide recs. We tried the White Sangria and they had a Pina colada both delicious and so refreshing! We have recently tried the Pesto pizza (I sub chicken on top instead) and the brisket mac and cheese which was probably the biggest mac and cheese I have ever seen and super yummy. If you haven't checked it out yet I definitely recommend it to everyone I know!

Incredible White Pizza, Killer Sicilian, & Living Room Vibes in Squirrel Hill!…read more After spending the afternoon at the Steelers game, we headed back to our old stomping grounds to check out Pastolli's Pizza in Squirrel Hill--and it turned out to be an absolute home run! We were specifically hoping for a great experience for the wife, who hasn't been able to enjoy a proper white pizza in years due to dietary restrictions. Pastolli's delivered in a major way. She was completely blown away by it--loved the cheese melt, the flavor profile, and the texture of the crust. Seeing someone enjoy a slice they've missed out on for years is the best kind of food-blog moment! As for my side of the table, I went with the Sicilian pizza topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, and onions. The Crust & Cheese: The crust was crunchy and buttery on all four corners, and the cheese pull on this thing was next-level. The Fries: If you've followed any of my reviews, you know I rarely pass up fries. These came out fresh, piping hot, and featured a light batter that gave them an awesome extra crunch. Beyond the food, the overall experience was top-tier. The vibe inside felt like you were kicking back in someone's cozy living room--they have a section with regular tables, plus an awesome area featuring a leather sectional and a coffee table right in front of massive TVs to catch the late-day NFL games. To top it all off, our server/cashier was genuinely amazing, super accommodating, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. The Verdict Even though it's a bit of a trek for us to make it a regular routine, Pastolli's completely won us over. We will definitely be coming out of our way much more often for quality food and an experience that feels like home. Highly recommended

The inside is also amazing too, the couch is so comfortable I feel like I'm sinking into it, the interior makes me imagine myself as a big fat Italian guy coming home from work to a nice big pie sitting on the table nice and hot.
