Large pepperoni pizza with half mushroom
    Santana L.

Grew up eating pizza from here but since I moved I completely forgot about this place for a while. We only ordered a large 2 topping pizza. Pepperoni and half mushroom, we normally order well-done but forgot this time. Didn't really matter it was still good! They use fresh mushrooms incase that's a deal breaker for anyone! Also for my ranch lovers, they have pretty good ranch- coming from someone who doesn't like any store-bought ranch! We were too excited & I forgot to take a picture before eating it! Probably one of my favorite local spots! We ordered pick-up, about 35 min wait time.

This has been my family's go to place to order place since I was little, and it still is. We ordered a pizza for pick up on Friday night. The food was hot and ready when we went to pick it up, and the pizza itself was delicious. I'm always in search of the perfect crust, and Center Avenue has hit the nail on the head. They've got the perfect balance of bready and crispy. The flavors of the white pizza are well balanced.

Heart shaped pizza for Valentine's Day!

We ordered a heart shaped pizza yesterday for pick up, for Valentine's Day! Pizza was delicious! My husband loves the smaller pepperoni which is what they used and we also got mushrooms. We appreciated that they cut it as well! This was our first time ordering from here but will not be our last! We Will definitely be back! Also the 2 guys in the shop couldn't have been nicer!

Did you make the sauce today? Is it old? So what is the sauce age?

I knew a girl in Pitt so I center a slice from here and she liked it. I like it too, even though it's not amazing and is far from my fave in town (Aiello, Fiori). They have lovely service, and serve a decent slice. It's not really Pittsburgh-style Pizza, just generic pizza but still pretty good and worth a try if you're in this area. If you live in Pitt and haven't tried it yet, my question is... why avenue tried it yet?

Fresh side salad $4.50 with Italian dressing: iceberg lettuce, tomato, green pepper, mushroom, two types of cheese
    Laura C.

I've lived in Pittsburgh for almost ten years now one neighborhood over from West View and this is my first time ordering from Center Avenue Slice. My order consisted of a side salad @ $4.50 and a 10" hand tossed junior size pizza. The salad was a good size and and included iceberg lettuce, tomato cubes, fresh sliced mushrooms, green pepper and two types of cheese. They include additional veggies or peppers that I told them to hold including olives, banana peppers and a couple other items. It also came with a nice sized round container of my selected dressing - Italian. The salad was well worth the price and was very fresh. The pizza I ordered was the hand tossed pan crust with mushrooms, hamburger, green peppers and diced tomatoes. The taste was very nice and the toppings were plentiful. The toppings were spread well and no one topping dominated in any area of the pizza. This is just good normal pizza. I called at 8:37 p.m. on a Sunday and my husband drove and collected the order, so I have no experience with their delivery service. They close at 9:15 p.m., so I was very pleased by the fresh food provided so close to closing time. I will be ordering in good faith again from this eatery.

This place is the best! Customer service: The owner always strikes up a conversation with me, he's super friendly and so is the rest of the staff I have encountered. He will tell you about the history of the park too. The pizza is delicious. The cheese is the best money can buy, they made their dough fresh every morning and the toppings are fresh. I ordered a pineapple pizza and when I arrived to pick it up I saw him slicing up a real pineapple.. imagine that! SO GOOD. I loved the atmosphere.. there are old photographs and news clippings from when the West View amusement Park was up and running. Very interesting to learn about West View's history and something to do while you are waiting since there are things to read all over the restaurant. Also, the huge mural on the side of the building is pretty cool!

The standout for me was the side of potatoes which had a delicious herb seasoning on the outside with a super crisp exterior and a perfectly cooked potato center that you can tell was minimally processed. The bread was also exceptionally fresh, offering the perfect balance of being both crisp and pillowy which would pair well with the restaurant's wide variety of sandwich options, as illustrated by the menu on the wall. The interior was clean and inviting, with simple, tasteful décor. There was free Wi-Fi and even a chess set available, making it a nice place to relax or catch up with a friend. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, and the staff were warm and welcoming which made the experience feel personal.

Ida's is open for dining in and takeout from the morning to late afternoon, and it also offers catering. My husband and I ate one lunch here. As soon as we entered the restaurant, the cashier kindly greeted us. He took our order and payment. Some indoor tables and chairs were available. We waited less than 20 minutes for our foods to be made. The owner smiled and checked in on us twice--first to give us an update about when our foods would be ready, and then to make sure that we enjoyed the foods. At the end of our meal, she thanked us and said goodbye. Here are my ratings for our foods: Fish Sandwich - 4.5 stars - The menu said that this sandwich would have a "9' Hoagie Roll," but it actually had a round bun. Totally fine! The fried haddock was a big size and was nicely meaty and flaky. I had asked for the menu toppings but no cheese, and it came out with only packets of tartar sauce. The owner noticed and promptly brought me lettuce and tomato. Chicken-Bacon-Ranch Sandwich - 4 stars - My husband ate this sandwich. He liked the buttery brioche bun, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, onion, melted American cheese, and ranch dressing. He commented that the chicken patty seemed as if it had been frozen previously. He had requested no tomato, but the cashier put tomato on the receipt, so the cook put tomato on the sandwich. He picked off the tomato and gave it to me. He did like this sandwich and ate all of it. Small French Fries - 4.5 stars - I had ordered the fries, but the cook put them on my husband's platter, so we switched platters. The fries were shoestring and were nicely seasoned. The total price for these three foods and one bottle of water was $32 plus tax and tip.

It's a proper neighborhood butcher shop on Butler Street, the kind of place that had mostly disappeared around here. They do whole animal butchery with meat sourced from local Pennsylvania farms, and you can feel how much the folks working there care about what they're doing. It's not a huge space, just a display case full of cuts, a wall of house made goods, and a small sandwich menu, but that's part of the charm. The staff were friendly and happy to point me in the right direction. The sandwiches are what really got me though. The smash burger is fantastic, a double patty on a challah bun with that special sauce, and you can actually taste the quality of the beef, which makes sense given the whole operation is built around good meat. I also grabbed some of their house made pastrami, and it did not disappoint, tender and full of flavor. Knowing everything is made in house, right down to the bacon and sausages, makes it even better. If you live nearby and don't have a butcher yet, this is the one.

Love the decor in the shop. There were many prepared food options in the fridge, as well as various cuts of meat/preparations of it. We got two sandwiches, the cheesesteak and the marbella. I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Looking forward to coming back and trying everything they have to offer.
