a biscuit sandwich with bacon and cheese

Ok, I know I am from the North and not an expert in southern- style cuisine. But, I think I know a good biscuit when taste one and this sure was! I was traveling for work and wanted to bring some goodies to one of the sites I was visiting. I got a bunch of chicken biscuit sandwiches and some with the English muffin options as well. My favorite was the spicy honey fried chicken with the biscuit! It is as so very good!! The whole group loved the food! The service was also great. They had an attendant outside taking orders and he was very helpful and nice. The people at the drive-thru were also warm and friendly! The order was big, but it was all correct. I wish I didn't have to wait until my next trip to North Carolina to have another one.

Whenever I'm passing through N Carolina.. in the morning or early afternoon..I go to Biacuitville. The service is top notch, the biscuits fluffy, and everyone smiles at me no matter what.. lol!! My cashier Monica, was speedy, accurate, and pleasant. My order preparer Bless was on point and totally a great helper. And the Shift Mgr Kevin, was nice and accomodating too...he was helping! The grillmaster/chef Allen, definitely went the extra mile as well. Loved my fluffy eggs.....ty Allen I had the sausage platter and cheese grits...which I would have had a picture of, but I inhaled them.. sorry...not sorry. The highlight for me though is the Master Baker Samy.. He is Awesome!!!

So glad we stopped here. This will be on my list of places to stop on my way to Charlotte. The service was a 10!!! Everyone there greeted us with a smile and/or conversation. You can tell they are a bonded group because when some were getting off there were comments from their co-workers like "be safe", "love you", "enjoy the rest of your day". The manager took our order and he must be the model that everyone follows because he was full of conversation, smiles and cheer. The star of the show was the food!! I'm not a biscuit lover but decided on biscuit items because of the name of the restaurant. Whoa! The Cuban was delicious!!!!! The flavors that all of the ingredients added to was chef's kisses. The biscuit was light and perfect. I also got the spicy chicken and honey which was good but kicked up a notch when I added a fried egg. They also had little doggie biscuits that they make. Had to get some for my doggie (she loved it too!!!). I'll be back y'all!!!

Had to stop and get some biscuits on our way back

Returning back from NC State and worth the wait in line well organized well prepared biscuits are always the thing to get.

Now listen I'm a sucker for some good breakfast and this place right here O-M-G!!!! The best pancakes you could ask for....very fluffy and light. When I saw the sign I did a u-turn because I knew the breakfast was gonna be on point. I went through the drive thru and was asked to pull up. Two cars had gone through drive thru before I got my food. Not sure what that was about but it was a bit of a wait. Anyway if you ever in North Carolina make sure you make it your business to stop here and get some of the best breakfast served in the state!!!

As before, I give this a resounding 5 stars. The menu has changed a little bit since I last wrote a review, and I've tried some new items. I have yet to try anything that I didn't like. My new go-tos are the raging chicken salad on a croissant and the berries and cream pastries. If you read my previous review, you will see that I was working up the nerve to try the chicken salad, because I'm somewhat meat-averse at times, and also don't like heavily mayonnaised foods, which is a big risk with any of the so-called "salad" items (potato, chicken, tuna, etc.) in life. I can now confirm that the chicken salad is 1) not overly mayonnaised and 2) made from not-gross chicken (I have no further explanation for this, but picky eaters will know what I mean). It's relatively light, has a nice texture, and is flavorful. It is one of my favorite weekend lunch items (or weekday, if I'm working remotely and in the area) now, not just here but in general. The berries and cream pastry is delicious and I would eat everyday, or even multiple times a day, if my figure and my wallet could afford it. Sweet, rich, flaky. Definitely one of my favorite dessert / sweet snack items currently. I also got a birthday cake made here and it was absolutely gorgeous (and delicious, obviously). Very well executed and totally got my vision. As I said before, there is plenty of seating inside (outside too!) and the volume level is perfect -- lots of people coming through, but quiet enough I can read, study, or do work. We spend several hours at a time in here some weekends. Highly recommend to anyone in the area or passing through.

I was at a friends and all decided to rent a movie and watch it because he got a big flatscreen TV and surround sound, etc. So, they convinced me by suggesting we just order out from Carolina Diner (opened just over 1 year). However, I drew the short straw to go get the food. This time there was only 4 orders simple stuff just straight off the menu items. I showed up placed the orders and waited. When they took my order they told me it would take 15 to 20 mins to fix and pack to go. So, I just sat on a stool after about 15 mins of standing. There were not many people there but that's when I started to get asked 2 or 3 times by different staff if I had been waited on and I told them yes. I was there for about 45 minutes and the staff had a shift change. A new couple of waitresses and a new guy at the register. At this time they asked if they could help me. I said, I placed an order when I first got here and still did not have my food. They looked all over and stated that there was no order and even asked the kitchen if there was a to go order. They said it was already picked up and showed them my order. I said no it has not. They wanted to know if I gave it to a friend and was trying to skip out on the bill. I told them no and the customer beside me said he saw me with no food and I had been sitting there exactly like I said. They had no choice but to believe me. Then I got a phone call from my friends asking where are you? I told them what was going on and that they were redoing the order. The manager entered the store and figured it out before the staff thought worse of me and made sure they did my order right away and gave me a glass of Tea for my troubles. At this point again they told me it would be 20 minutes. The kitchen staff changed shift five mins after the manager came in and so my order again was not processed. After 20 minutes the manager was asking the kitchen where is the customer's order? They were like what order we just got here and there are no standing orders. The manager proceeded to take my order again and told the kitchen get everyone on it and it needs to be out in 5 mins or else. In the mean time he told me it wouldn't be long and apologized again. My order came out and it was on plates not to go boxes. The manger took care of this immediately and then placed my order at the register. From the time it took me to walk from the stool to the register a customer rushed up there to pay in front of me so I at this time was there so long I was like what's one more customer. The manager saw I was waiting there but the lady that jumped in front of me called all her 5 friends over so she let them front in front of her. So by the time the 6 of them paid that was another 5 mins. I walked up to get the order and the cashier guy charged me for the orders and the TEA that was supposed to be complimentary. I was so tired of being there I just paid for it anyway instead of complaining, the manager came up to see what was taking so long and saw I had to pay for the tea and I thought he was going to have a fit. He asked me to check my orders and I did. I said well you have 3 orders but my order is not in here. He couldn't believe it. He looked at his pad and the orders himself and said what happened to the 4th order. Apparently, an inside customer ordered the same thing I did and a waitress saw it on the counter and took it while the manager was shifting everything to the to go boxes. Also the other cashier had charged me for that order too. He promised to have them remake it but I said no I'm not hungry now it was my order that was messed up. He said I'll take care of this myself. He then opened the second register and gave me back the money for the tea and food then said please come again. I said I doubt it and went to leave and he said why? I said, "Hold on my friends were calling again." At this time it was an hour and a half. I told them I was just walking out but the manger interrupted and said no wait I want to know something. So I hung up and said yes? He wanted to know why I wouldn't be back. I told him how long I was there and he said no way. He just couldn't believe it. I said I watched the waitresses change and now the kitchen change and he come in and asked him and how long have you been here.. He realized he had been there 45 mins. I said thank you but I'm leaving. I have people waiting on me. He tried again and again to get me to come back and even said he would give me back my money but I didn't want it. I was done with the place and didn't want any connections to it again. I went to Wendy's and got myself something to eat and went back to my friends house. They couldn't believe I had all that to go through AGAIN. Because they all knew the other story and was just shocked. So, now I won't go to Carolina Diner ever again no matter what location they are at.

It closed in early February for what were supposed to be renovations, only to reopen months later with a new name and a new concept, trading slightly upscale Southern for more upscale Italian. In some regards, this makes sense - it fills a void created by the closure of Lulu and Blu - but in other ways, it's a massive gamble. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, it also made us miss Magnolia. The higher price point is the chief culprit. Otto and Blue offers pastas in the $20s and entrees starting in the $30s, bread and olive oil not included. While we were celebrating an occasion that merited such a splurge, it's hard to imagine the restaurant remaining competitive at those prices once the sheen of newness wears off. Look past that, however, and Otto and Blue shines in both ambiance and service. It's classy without being stuffy, and the dark turquoise tones suit it well. Allison, a Magnolia Blue mainstay, was personable and attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Otto and Blue's menu offers apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. It's predominantly Italian albeit with a few options for the steak-and-potatoes crowd. The dishes range from recognizably classic (rigatoni Bolognese) to conspicuously elevated (halibut piccatta). After mulling over several offerings, we went with the bread service, tagliatelle, and duck cacciatore. The food ranged from fairly good to outstanding. While $9 for bread is a tough pill to swallow, they executed it as well as they possibly could have: a hot, fresh ciabatta with tasty herb butter, olive relish, and a quality olive oil-balsamic combo as accompaniments. The cacciatore boasted a pair of duck legs confit, and while I'm usually no fan of dark meat poultry, these were prepared well with crispy skin and plenty of meat. For a typically hearty dish, the sauce seemed light (and a bit subdued), but that could be a consequence of serving atop polenta (more absorbent) rather than pasta. Speaking of pastas and sauces, the tagliatelle hit a nice balance of creamy and zesty without swimming in its white wine lemon sauce. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal ended up being the dessert that Otto and Blue kindly offered as an anniversary gift. A scoop of vanilla bean gelato came adorned with a Biscoff cookie, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of salt. If salt and especially olive oil on ice cream seem vaguely blasphemous, don't knock it until you try it. Each bite was thoroughly delicious. It's a given that good food doesn't come cheap, but even so, Otto and Blue has no margin for error to justify what it charges. On food alone, it was close but not quite there. However, the overall experience made it worthwhile, and I have no regrets about dining here.
