The New Year's Eve crowd had them busier than usual, but the wait was minimal. My cheddar chive bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich was nearly the size of my head. My child refused to share, but next time we must! It's that large yall! The texture of the biscuit was perfect. Flaky on the outside, and chewy soft in the middle---and not oily! Yes the price was a big of a shocker, but honestly the portions justify it. My latte was perfection too. Friendly, clean, fun decor, and patience with curious children = 5* in my book. After several tries, I think this place has potential, but there are some big red flags. First, it's very expensive for what it is. $68 for two breakfast sandwiches and seasonal lattes felt criminal. Second, gluten-free biscuits are only offered on weekends, and in veryyyy limited quantities. The first time I went, the person behind me was told they'd have to wait because they were already out of GF biscuits...at 10:30 AM. It feels misleading to say they're accessible. I get that GF baking is pricey, but still, their approach is disappointing. The staff is usually very nice and accommodating, but my sandwiches have come out cold multiple times now. I wanted to like Biscuit & Bean because the people were so nice and the reviews are great. It seems like they're in the middle of a remodel or fixing some issue because there are industrial fans and no seating inside. At least for now, it all appears to be to-go orders. Coffee was fine. Basic B sandwich was good but could have used more seasoning and was a bit dry. The cheese wasn't melted. Maybe I should have ordered a sauce or something to go with it. The only other veggie option had cucumber on it, which sounded like a weird combo to me. They raised their prices due to cost of eggs (understandable) but for $18 after tip for just coffee and a sandwich, I expected it to be a little more flavorful. Maybe I'll come back and try again! Came in today and had the classic B and a 16 ounce iced black tea. This plus a two dollar and change tip put me over $20. Small, bus your own table kind of vibe. They also did have outside seating available. The cashier was friendly enough. I'm just really disappointed in this "biscuit". I got the cheddar and green onion biscuit and could taste neither. Quick food service scrambled egg and processed American cheese that wasn't melted. The biscuit was not heated all the way through and terribly flavorless and dry. Had it not been for the very watery tomato jam? I would've had an extremely difficult time getting it down. Edit to add: Aside from a couple of vintage horror, movie posters in the corner there was nothing about the decor to suggest that it was cryptid themed. We originally were going to go to Whole Foods for breakfast, but when we arrived there wasn't any hot breakfast. Searching around the Ballard area, we found this biscuit and coffee shop. There was construction out front of the restaurant but we didn't mind having to walk a couple blocks on this fresh cool morning. The restaurant was decorated for Halloween, which was super cute and aesthetic. Nice small little shop, has room for a few tables and window bar seating. The biscuit flavors were displayed so we could be wowed by the size of them. We both ordered the signature, white cheddar, prosciutto, scrambled eggs, mixed greens and mama lill's pepper aioli. I got mine on the Italian herb biscuit and my partner had his on the cheddar and green onion biscuit. We also ordered Two sides of the sausage gravy. Next time, one side of the gravy is enough for both of us. We also ordered a caramel latte and matcha latte with oat milk and honey. We didn't have to wait long for our order. Our drinks were the perfect temperature and sweetness. The barista did a wonderful job. We took our sandwiches to the Ballard Locks to enjoy while we watched the ships . The biscuit sandwiches were amazing. The biscuit it self was flavorful, and soft , but it was hardy enough that it held the sandwich together. The aioli was the star that pulled all of the flavors of the prosciutto, egg, mixed greens and cheddar together with the biscuit. The gravy was thick, luscious, big chunks of sausage throughout. Spooned on top of each bite of the sandwich was perfect. What a great way to start a morning. Will definitely be coming back to try to the rest of the menu. read more

Love this place. Realistically the only rival is Biscuit Bitch, but they don't compare for biscuits and gravy. This is the best place in seattle to get biscuits and gravy whether you're omnivorous or vegetarian. After being a loyal patron of Biscuit and Bean from their time on 15th/59th, I was thrilled to hear of their return. And I was not disappointed. These folks haven't missed a beat. The food here is nothing short of perfect and it was a privilege to eat it again. Plus, their new location is in the walkable heart of Ballard and feels much roomier. While they get up to speed they're only open a few days of the week until 2 pm, but this is well worth planning into your day. The biscuits are light and fluffy with gorgeous layers. The mushroom gravy is rich and savory, and I choose a spoon to get as much as possible into each bite. I opt to top mine with a runny egg and pickled jalapenos to complete this masterpiece. Stopped into this cute little shop in Ballard after an early morning appointment and was delightfully surprised. Service was personable and friendly. Ordered the Signature sandwich and a black drip coffee. Sandwich came out quickly (couple of minutes). Biscuit was top notch, large flaky and buttery soft. Was a bit skeptical about the side sauce (a kind of remoulade), but it meshed super well with the egg and prosciutto. The greens were fresh and plentiful, cutting the fat from the meat really well. Got the basic B with a side of pepper aioli (highly recommend). Honestly this was super filling and definitely is good in size. I'd say to add some spice by making the aioli chipotle or something else. The biscuits weren't dry but I usually like them a little more buttery, they were really great and not too crumby either! I've been craving biscuits and gravy for a while so thought I would treat myself to some from Biscuits and Bean since I had read a great review about them. Unfortunately my order today was so bad I hardly ate any of it. A complete waste of my money. I ordered the biscuits and sausage, mushroom and leek gravy. The biscuits were decent and would've been ok if the gravy was good but it was not. It was gross. If there were any pieces of sausage, or mushroom or leak, they were so tiny, that they were basically nonexistent. There was absolutely no flavor, other than salt and fat. It was like eating slightly thick and melted butter, but not even that good. I was extremely disappointed. What could've been an amazing dish was not even worth eating. The cheddar & chive biscuit was incredible but the rest of the sandwich was not. The sausage patty was like a burger patty, which I was not expecting at all. It was too thick, dry, flavorless, a little hard and an extra $3. The tomato jam was really runny and more like a liquidy ketchup. There's a bunch of people really excited about these biscuits, so maybe I just don't like biscuits? Partner liked his fine; I was disappointed. I had the Classic with a sausage patty, teen had biscuit and gravy, partner had the Signature. Pros: - the biscuit was warm and seemed fresh - the tea was loose leaf - the teen enjoyed his biscuit and gravy - Coffee was good (drip with cream) Neutrals: - not a lot of seating, but possible to snag a table - bit of a wait but cashier was also making drinks as part of taking orders, so that slowed things down, we also got there at a busy time - choice of 2 biscuits for most things - the biscuit was huge. For me this made the biscuit-to-toppings ratio unsatisfactory; for you it might be awesome. - very few fresh vegetable/fruit options on the menu; that's probably par for the course here. Cons: - the biscuit was DRY and not buttery or flaky - the sausage patty was dry - the egg was dry (there's a theme here!) - there was not enough cheese - there was no butter on the table to improve matters - the "tomato jam" was on the side in a plastic container, so I had to add it myself - this kindof wound up being a good thing, because it tasted like ketchup gone wrong. This was the only thing I actively disliked. - the presentation overall was pretty beige - partner's sandwich was supposed to come with greens and there were hardly any. - Side order of two bacon strips came in a plastic cup, and looked like it was one strip cut in two. In any case it was a tiny amount. - All components were a little underseasoned. Because my partner loves biscuits, and he thought these were a 4, I may go again. I might try the biscuit and gravy next time, or just get a biscuit and spread (though with the huge size of the biscuit I'm worried about the spread-to-biscuit ratio).
