Wow! This is one of the most amazing spots I've been to in a long time. I forgot what gem this coffee shop is as it's been years since I last visited. First of all the coffee and espresso based drinks are ON POINT. Second, what great staff here, I wish I could shout out every one but Scarlett especially stands out. Finally what awesome vibes. I was out for work and happened upon this shop for my mid day coffee pick me up! Walking in the staff was warm and it gave me a family feel based on how they were interacting with each other. I ordered my typical latte and breakfast sandwich and was more than I expected it to be for those two items but I paid and waited for my order. I dont love almond milk as a substitute for milk so I'm not sure if it was that or the type cup that it was in but the drink tasted a little like flavored cardboard. They win me back with the breakfast sandwich I got, it was a bacon, egg and cheese on a pretzel bun and it was so good! Its out of my way for every day things so im not worried about returning but if your in the area its worth giving it a try for the breakfast sandwiches alone. read more

A friend and I were passing through Westminster and happened upon this cafe for lunch.The menu is on the wall and you order at the counter. The counter person was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The sitting area is cute and near the windows overlooking the historic buildings on this street. I ordered the veggie wrap and chickpea salad. Both were very fresh and delicious. My friend had a panini and enjoyed that as well. I would definitely return when in the area. read more

Weird experience. Neutral with a tint of unfriendly customer service? Idk it was weird. As an ally to the gays , I was excited to see all of the social activist stickers. Many of the symbols I was unfamiliar with so I asked what they meant. They said they had no idea and they just get a big pack so they put them out. Idk that was weird. Finally, our 3 sandwiches took 30 minutes to make and that was weird too. The sandwiches were weird but they were fine tasting. My soup was served in a to go coffee cup (which is fine) but it was room temperature and cold at the same time (probably because they microwaved it in the cup). We meant to have a weekday lunch at a similarly-named Westminster lunch eatery, but I had entered its name wrong and the GPS led us here. This restaurant is in a charming old building. We entered thru a narrow hallway, passed adjacent rooms that oozed with character and proceeded to the ordering counter. The rooms may have had character but they were empty at 12:30 PM. At this point I was still unaware of my mistake so we ordered from the wall menu. I pointed to a cellophane-wrapped pastry and asked if this was baked today? The answer was no and it finally dawned on me that we were in the wrong place! The other place was known for its baked goods. Nevertheless we persevered and sat in the empty old-timey dining room. We sat, enjoying the ambiance of the room until our order came. My companion's bagel was moldy whereas mine was just a bit stale. She declined getting it replaced. After we left, we went to the correct place and got some delicious pastries. read more

I came here today for lunch and ordered the Gouda Buddha online. There was also some apple muffins as well when I arrived. The Gouda Buddha panini was pretty good but it just didn't have a lot of flavor. The muffin was super moist and tasty. First and foremost, they are open, but the door sticks, and they get touchy about people who cannot open the door and they will point out that other customers have had no problem with the door. Nice way to greet new customers. The décor is very dark, as all the tables, the radiators and chairs are all black, and the area is dimly lit. They do not have AC in the main seating area but do have a single residential ceiling fan. After my greeting this morning, I just tried the green tea. It had a good taste but was a bit expensive at $2.91 for 16oz plastic cup. One other thing to mention is their social justice sign in the main area. While everyone is entitled to their opinions, I do not like to be bombarded by them while I enjoy a drink or food. Overall, based upon the décor, the greeting and the expense, I will most likely not return. read more

Worst breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Coffee is ok. The place is kind of cool but a bit dirty.

I still love the coffee and the food stuffs here but the owner ladies attitude and general demeanor just bring me down. it's negative and it makes me not wanna go. My boyfriend and I were excited to try a different sandwich shop. The place looked cutely decorated with a lot of books and the sandwich's online looked really good. We were ordering to go and we were told that the food would take 30 minutes. We said we were fine with the wait and understood it was a weekend so they were busy. My boyfriend has a dairy allergy and he made sure to tell them that when he asked for no cheese on his sandwich. The wait ends up being an hour (which again they said 30 mins) and we get home to eat our food and they melted cheese onto his sandwich. I'd love to give this funky coffee shop a higher score but I can't just yet. Located in the historic downtown part of Westminster, Birdie's has a wonderful atmosphere inside and out. Great music, gorgeous art everywhere. The two bar tables need taller chairs or something however. The clientele is mostly hipsters and hipsters in disguise (business clothes). The menu is varied and interesting. I ordered something to drink and a panini from the polite barista and went to find myself a seat. A good time later I'm still waiting for my sandwich even though the place is almost empty. Two people working on their computers, a couple having lunch, and two ladies meeting for coffee. I could hear the staff conversing in the back so I figured they'd forgotten me. I was about to check on my order when a young woman came with my sandwich. No apology, though again very polite. It was obvious that my sandwich had been made not long after I'd ordered it but was forgotten. It was room temperature, the cheese had congealed, and the dressing had run out onto the plate. It was still good flavor-wise but, even hot, not worth the price. Would I return? If I'm in the area, I'll give it another try. Probably though, only to get a drink and a hopefully fresh pastry. The Nutella latte is great. My husband got a caramel latte with an extra shot and it tasted like milk. We both got a medium drink and a sandwich and the prices added up to 26 bucks but they charged us 34. We asked why and she just pointed to a small post it note on the counter saying the prices went up. If the prices went up the prices on the menu should be taken off or covered up. It wasn't fair. Starbucks has better prices than that. read more

Was excited to find a breakfast place to try with a friend. Person working the register was surly and food was underwhelming. Omelettes have limited choices. Onions are raw and there is very little in the omelette. Hash browns are frozen oblongs. Not worth the effort. read more

Looking for a quick coffee while in the area. I loved this place! I was sad I didn't have time to hang around, but it's really eclectic and cozy. There are a few rooms to sit in, and they're really charming. Different types of seating and tables... If you wanted to play games, they had a checkered design on the tables. The coffee menu was vast! They had tons of flavored lattes! Coconut, caramel, brown sugar cinnamon... Probably like a good 10 flavors or more. They even had con panna! They also had a good, dense whipped cream... NOT ReddiWhip. Not legit whipping cream whipped cream either, but it was a pleasant surprise to not get ReddiWhip. There was also a considerable list of teas to try, and a menu of cafe foods and some tasty looking cookies and baked goods. Huge bonus is that they were open until 10pm which was awesome. I very much enjoyed my coconut latte. I'm really bummed I live like an hour away; I'd definitely be there all the time. I'd have posted photos but I was in a rush. Overall A+. read more

Hidden funky gem in westminster. I was in the area for work and curious to find anything different or unique outside of Montgomery county. The cafe had a laid-back atmosphere with colorful and whimsical decor. I didn't get the chance to try the food but ordered the "Nutty Irish Man" and have no complaints. Such sn awesome place. Quaint funky coffee shop with good breakfast. I literally stumbled over their front step and looked up to see this spot. Thanks universe. This is my new favorite local breakfast spot. Friendly service and somewhat inspired menu. Had a bagel with egg and cheese on an old bay bagel. Very very Maryland and surprisingly tasty. This uber foodie was very pleased. They also offer soy and almond milk options for smoothies and cofee. Coffee flavors galore and even great reccommendations of flavors. Tried the Lavender white mocha and it was divine. We'll definately be back even if just for a pick up game of scrabble with a smooth latte to boot. read more

The staff is always so nice and I feel like I never have to wait too long for my stuff. I love the mismatched interior. Very disappointed. While ordering, I felt like the woman helping me was upset, almost yelling at me, while ordering. While waiting, I heard her on the phone complaining about other customers and cussing how busy they were (there were a total of 5 people in the whole store including myself). I wanted to ask if she was the owner but didn't have the energy to speak to her again. I still had high hops as i just spent $22 on 2 drinks and 2 breakfast sandwiches but I would not leave an honest review if the food of the service wasn't so bad. Drinks were not very warm. Eggs are certainly powdered eggs and not very toasted bread for the sandwich. I had high hopes as we just moved here to find a local coffee shop but we are still on the look out. read more

First and foremost I love the ambiance of this coffeehouse. The decor and furnishings on the inside are creative, comfortable and warming. They have a pretty eclectic and vast menu compared to previous years and it's the only place in Westminster where I can get my lox bagel fix! They even have gluten free muffins and pastries as well as soy and almond milk alternatives for those with food allergies. The baristas are always friendly and welcoming when you walk in the door. I love coming here to get away for a little while. There are plenty of board games and books to use while you're there so a quick trip can turn into a few hour retreat! read more
