I don't write reviews often. In fact, I have only reviewed 2 other restaurants on Yelp...However, I felt obligated to review BirdHouse for it going above and beyond expectations. For starters, the staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. They were so accommodating and helpful. Secondly, the food itself was phenomenal. The chicken tastes homemade and authentic. The flavors are great too especially the spicy for those that enjoy some heat on their meat. They also house a nice selection of craft beer with many coming from AZ breweries. They also play really good radio stations and that certainly helped. Overall, I will be talking about this place for awhile and I'll most certainly be back. read more

The ranch was really good as well. The sides were mashed potatoes, chicken rice, & Cole slaw. Everything was pretty good for the sides. My kids said the mashed potatoes tasted like their schools', lol. I thought they were pretty good. The only reason why this was a 4 is because the bathrooms could use some help. The fried chicken was very good. Large pieces, well seasoned, and very juicy. I'm deducting one star because the sides were terrible. We got fries and broccoli salad and both of these were so bad that we ended up tossing most of it. The broccoli salad was just broccoli chunks swimming in mayonnaise and the fries were bland. What an excellent find in a tiny town! We headed over here after a hike at Horseshoe Bend. Food: got the two piece original fried chicken with a side of brocc salad and a SECRET MENU ITEM (it's their chicken sandwich with a mix of sauces - ask the cashier for it!) with a side of fries. SO GOOD!!! Food came out before we could even self seat ourselves. The fried chicken was super juicy and not over seasoned. Brioche was the Perf choice for the sandwich bread because it soaked up all the juice from the chicken. But let's talk about the real stars - BROCC SALAD WAS BOMBBBB. not overly Mayo at all! How do you maximize the crunch to potes ratio in fries? Crinkle cut them!! Seasoning is delicious too! Covid: they have plenty of outdoor seating and some limited indoor seating (it's just a small place in general). It got crowded while I was there so I wish I was outside. You can grab your own utensils and condiments, which also made me nervous but thankfully, they had a wash station and hand sanitizer available. We quickly and easily ordered our food at the counter. If the inside seats weren't full, we would've missed out on the awesome outdoor patio--shaded and misted. Shortly after sitting, they delivered our boneless chicken wings, broccoli salad, and coleslaw. Their speedy and quick service is praiseworthy. We all loved the boneless chicken and crisp fries. Sweet seasoning and light, crisp breading on the chicken wings was perfect. The only negative I have is the fresh broccoli salad and coleslaw lacked flavor. Original is also very tasty (the two sauce options make great pairings) and the spicy is pretty hot. Super crunchy and not too greasy on the outside and moist within. Sides - 5/5. The portions are good, and the Mac and cheese has some sort of chip (Doritos?) sprinkled on top. the pickles were also really great! Drinks - 4/5. Had the prickly pear margarita and it was super sweet. Pretty refreshing until it's a little overwhelming (and I couldn't taste any alcohol.. which isn't always a good thing). I recommend drinking some then watering it down. Overall, this is the place you should be going to between hikes or travel days. I was beginning to give up on the ice of eating decent food in the area (that also followed covid procedures) but this is a gem that the city should work to keep forever. Delicious, crispy fried chicken with tasty sides. I ordered a whole chicken which came with 2 legs, 2 thighs, 2 breasts, and 2 wings. I got half spicy and half honey butter. The chicken came very crispy and the spicy flavor was a dry rub, which tasted like a cayenne pepper mixture. It had a nice spicy kick which I feel like many things that come spicy aren't actually spicy. The honey butter flavor came in a mildly sweet glaze that the chicken was baked in. Despite the sticky sauce, my chicken still stayed very crispy. I ordered online for take out and despite being busy, I only had to wait as long as the estimated wait time and for that, I think they deserve more than 5 stars. I highly recommend this place! Three flavors to choose from - Original, honey glazed, and spicy. Five of us ordered 24 pieces of chicken (which we were told was a lot but we were so hungry since we didn't eat lunch and we showed up for early dinner). 12 pieces came with 2 large sides so we got 4 large sides as we ordered 24 (mix of thighs and drumsticks).
