Half Chicken with xtra order of leg, Mac n Cheese, and Seasoned Fries
    Kaitlyn P.

Easily the best meal I've had in Arizona. After a long day in the sun exploring the canyon and Horseshoe Bend, my boyfriend and I were extremely hungry, so we were excited to find a chicken spot nearby. Not just any chicken place, but one that had been highly praised by reviewers online, so we had to try it. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the fries were well seasoned, though a little on the harder side, and the mac and cheese was one of the best I've ever had, super creamy and delicious. I really enjoyed this meal. The price was reasonable for the portion size, and this is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone visiting.

Loved eating at this local spot! The staff were super friendly and the outdoor seating had a lot of room for big groups. Ordered the thigh and leg plate which came with a side. The chicken was juicy and tender. The plate even came with an extra piece! I preferred the honey butter over the spicy but both complimented the crispy chicken well. The Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were hits at the table! Gave the donut holes a chance and they were more cakey than donut in texture but still satisfied our dessert craving. Highly recommend checking them out.

This place wasn't bad. Was open late. The chicken was nice and crunchy! I got 2 of their house made ranch, and they were good!! The fries were a bit sad, the chicken comes out crunchy but the fries were not crunchy at all. The donut holes were awesome! The warm jelly is the best dip IMO. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in town!

The food at Birdhouse was excellent. The fries were incredible, perfectly crispy and well seasoned. The house-made sauce really stood out and added a lot of flavor to the meal. The chicken was tender and juicy on the inside with a crispy exterior, making the skin especially satisfying. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Lots of seating, good ambiance. Overall, everything was well executed, flavorful, and enjoyable. Definitely a spot worth checking out.

Still be the must stop on our way to Page. Their fried chicken was so juicy and tender with the crispy crunchy outside. The fries were good too, flavorful and even don't need sauce. The mac and cheese was too creamy for me, tasted a little bit heavy.

This is a solid choice if you want fried chicken and reasonable prices. Also a good choice if you are in a hurry (as long as there are 5 groups or less in front of you). The "patio" is right next to the road, so expect some loud pipes going by. Tables are set up for large groups, so bring the whole family. Service was SO friendly. Although this is a self serve place: (order at the counter then get your own napkins, utensils, water) there was still some table attention- food is brought out to the table , and there is staff to help you find what you need. Not a lot of vegetables offered. The one salad on the menu is iceberg lettuce heaped with chicken, bacon and egg - you will definitely get your protein here! It comes in a to -go box. This place is not fancy. We were delighted to find adult beverages available. No beverages are listed on the menu or web site. There were two flavored premade margarita concoctions - prickly pear and something else that sounded too sweet -(20 oz! 9 bucks) but I didn't try it - seemed like too much of a commitment. There was also a good selection beer and a few wine choices. Wine was $6.50 - and not bad. Overall impression is that it a a heavy meal, very crispy chicken, mashed potatoes were only ok. Not a place to linger. Not terrible, but definitely not comfy. Go if you are hungry and tired of overpriced restaurants.

Our kayaking guide, Jaden, highly recommended BirdHouse as a tasty value priced fried chicken place. Service was great, our chicken plate and sandwich were great with the sauces, and our dog was happy on the patio. Ambiance was welcoming. The fries needed to be crispier though.

Like many folks, I was in Page, Arizona to visit Lower Antelope Canyon and the tour group I joined had selected BirdHouse as our lunch stop. I did look them up before getting here and am a fan of chicken sandos. Since I was there in December, our tour guide phoned in our orders ahead of time so he can grab the food for us to eat in the van as he continued to drive in order to maximize daylight as we still needed to hit Horseshoe Bend after Antelope Canyon. But, still got the try both the honey butter and spicy chicken sandos. Wish we had fries too but the sandos are a good size and I'd say that the honey butter was better tasting than the spicy sando.

If you find yourself in Page and craving some seriously good fried chicken, Birdhouse is the spot. The chicken here is awesome-- juicy, crispy, and packed with flavor. You can tell they take pride in their seasoning; the rub had just the right blend of spice and depth without overpowering the meat. And that crisp! The skin had that ideal crunch that stayed light. I also really enjoyed the broccoli salad -- fresh, lightly dressed, and a great balance to the richness of the chicken. On top of that, the food came out quick, hot, and fresh, even during a busy period. Overall, Birdhouse hits all the marks: quick service, incredible flavor, and some of the crispiest fried chicken you'll find in northern Arizona. Easily a must-stop when passing through Page.

Chicken tender combo with fries and an extra order of tender with a side broccoli salad. $25 for 2 people. Great deal for lunch!

Best fried chicken in town! Not much good food that we found on this trip to Page but we came back twice to this place. Affordable, great flavored food and very quick nice service. Recommending to all travelers who stay around this area. You won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for a spot to eat after exploring Antelope Canyon area this spot is it! We got the chicken platter to share and it filled up 4 of us to the brim. They also serve beer so it's the perfect afternoon lunch spot! Chicken was delicious, the hot and the honey were our two favorite flavors. Highly recommend!

If I could rate 6 stars I would! This place is unbelievably good. I would definitely be coming back to this place whenever I visit the area. The chicken was so moist and tender. The seasoning was all very good. Also, the staff here was super nice and pleasant to be around. we had two people in our party and we ate 1/2 chicken with fries and a side of the chicken sandwich. They provide you all different kinds of sauces like honey mustard, ranch, ketchup, hot sauce. We were a little hesitant to try the honey butter flavor at first, but we were so glad we did! It's sweet and savory, similar to chicken and waffles. It did not disappoint! The chicken sandwich was better than Chick-fil-A sandwich or Popeyes sandwich. This is probably the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life

While at the Glen Caynon VC, we asked a ranger where he would recommend to go for a late lunch. He referred us to the Bird House and said ask for "Eddie's Special". From the moment we walked in, we noticed this place was different. They had the glass jars filled with spices all along the window seal, which we later found out they use to make their Bird sauce and Ranch from scratch. YUMM!! The customer service was superb. They were super friendly and helpful. Checking in on us to make sure we liked what we had and if we needed anything. To top it off, the place was super clean inside and out. They even have the "To Go bags" labeled to go with the two different size take home boxes. It's the little things that they did that were impressive! Oh and "don't" eat the fries with Bird Sauce...unless you want to be come addicted and order more. But seriously, the fries are seasoned perfectly and the chicken....just sell your home and move to Page permanently!! Seriously want good food?! Come here!!! We ordered the 4 piece and a sandwich Eddie's Special, with side of fries & broccoli salad AND the donut holes!! The chicken is crispy and seasoned so completely, not an empty spot to be found. The sandwich came with 3 huge tenders, that's made from the chicken breast. Again seasoned to perfection. Your taste buds will be left wanting for more when you leave, but your belly will be full. The only thing I would add is some Prickly Pear Lemonade (for us sober folks) and prickly pear dipping sauce for the donuts!

I ordered the ribeye, buddy ordered the fish and chips, and son ordered the macc & cheese. Ribeye was cooked to order (medium rare) but green beans were so so for me (lots of garlic, julienne cut), onions / mushroom sauce paired with the mashed potatoes and gravy were fine but a bit much with the ribeye for my tastes. Buddy said fish and chips were good, son thought Mac and cheese were fine.

We had all been wanting steak, and this place seemed to have good yelp reviews, indicating it was a good steakhouse in town. However, when we sat down and saw the menu prices, which were much higher than had been listed online in pictures, most of the family changed their mind. They had a New York strip option (striploin) a $45 in the ribeye at $46. My wife had the country fried steak, which she said was good or equal to Cracker Barrel's. My son had the barbecue burger which he enjoyed, and my youngest daughter had the kids meal cheese burger sliders, which she liked a lot. For my part, I had a ribeye, which at $46 was a little bit steep. Having said that, if it is an excellent steak, I have no problem paying that price. However, this wasn't an excellent steak. The steak was cooked order, and that in itself was pretty epic as the steak was really paper thin and mostly fat. I'm amazed that you could make a steak that thin, medium rare (I really ordered rare, but I had seen some reviews stating to order it Rare, if you wanted, medium rare). My two issues were the steak were the thickness and the amount of fat on it. I'm not talking about marbling fat that makes a good ribeye, I'm talking about the big chunks of pure fat that most people don't eat. I've never actually seen a ribeye that had as much non-marbled fat on it, as this one did. I'd estimate that approximately 40% of the ribeye was fat. The overall flavor was fairly good, just not worth the price. This is not a steak that I would expect at a a steakhouse, this is a steak that I would more I would expect at a Cracker Barrel or a Denny's. I'd say that was pretty much overall the experience, decently good food, but definitely not worth the price. If our overall ticket had been about half the price to 2/3 of the price, I'd give this place a 4 stars. Add the current meal prices, it really sits at about a 2 1/2 star experience. The service was somewhat difficult to rate, as we had a very nice waitress who was obviously overworked and handling too much, as it took an hour to get our food(also two parties our size who came in the same time or after us, got their food significantly before us)but she was very attentive to us when she had the ability to come over. We did visualize her running around the whole restaurant, so any lapse in service really definitely wasn't her fault.

Created around 1864 by the Navajo people using the meager ingredients given to them by the US Government at the time. The bread quickly spread to other tribes throughout the country, and is usually just referred to as "fry bread," but in AZ it's always preceded by the prefix "Navajo." My first encounter with it was in a church parking lot at San Xavier del Bac (aka The White Dove of the Desert), where Native Americans had food stands selling fresh fry bread topped with honey and cinnamon-sugar, as well as savoury toppings like ground beef, lettuce and tomatoes in what's popularly referred to as a Navajo Taco. Fast forward to our recent trip to Page, and we stopped into a little restaurant called Steer 89. It came recommended by a local--and I always take local recs seriously. While perusing the menu they had an item called a Navajo Burger ($15) and my curiosity was piqued. Essentially it's a giant hamburger sandwiched between two fry bread "buns," and I really have to say it was easily the most unique thing I've had all year. The burger itself was terrific, as it was seasoned well, had good beefy flavor and cooked expertly. And it was "run through the garden" with all the veggie accoutrements I demand. The hand-cut fries were also a treasure to behold and were everything a fry should be: fluffy, yet crisp and just a bit overly-salted. Of course, we had to get a Navajo Taco ($12), as well, and it too lived up to the hype of the originals I'd had in that church parking lot. While it was nothing fancy, this was probably one of my favorite meals we had on our recent trip and definitely worthy of multiple repeat visits next time we're in the area.

The navajo taco is basically a piece of the navajo bread, which is a thicker, chewier, airier flatbread topped with taco toppings you'd expect from a taco bell, things like shredded lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions and chili. The navajo taco was pretty good if you came in expecting that. It is pretty much an american taco with navajo bread. Overall not an interesting find, but nothing too spectacular or mind blowing.

We shared calamari and we are calamari snobs. I wasn't expecting anything great but it really, really was. The crunchy (fresh?) batter was cooked perfectly crispy and the squid meat was not tough. They served it on top of sliced pepperocini, which we kept using throughout the meal. The sauce was delicious too. Now any chef/cook can have an off day, but if the oil is the right temp and they stick to a prescribed fry time, you should experience the same great result. My husband had the Reuben, and he is a Reuben snob. The thickly julienned corned beef made for a little bit of messy eating, but he said it was good. His sweet potato waffle fries were crisp and not too sweet. They stayed crisp throughout the meal. I believe these were frozen but they chose a great product to offer for one of their sides. No shame in a good, coated, crisp, frozen sweet potato waffle fry. I had the desert dipper (French dip to many of us.) It was topped with sauteed mushrooms and onions and the aus jus was really delicious. Not too salty and with a rich flavor without being oily. Again, a product which I would be shocked it if wasn't purchased, but they made a great choice! It doesn't rely on salt, which many chefs turn to to cover less-than-stellar food. My side was a side salad. Mixed mesclun lettuces (with the occasional wilted, icky looking leafs) that made either this batch of lettuce one day past it's prime or needed to be gone through a little closer. The salad was topped with a generous portion of very fresh cucumbers, carrot shreds, cherry tomatoes, cheese and croutons. I was pleased with the overall quality and presentation of that simple side salad. In our previous trip my husband had the quite-curated turkey sandwich and he said it was very good. I gave my order to the husband while I went to the lady's restroom. The lady's restroom was clean and orderly with 2 stalls and sufficient supplies. Husband says the same or similar regarding the men's room. Came back and went to the table the husband had picked out. I went over and then veered to the condiments bar. Picked up napkins, plastic silverware, mayo and mustard. Husband had ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries for him and a salad plus chicken for me. Each agreed to glasses of water. Husband said the fella behind the bar was a nice young guy. Visited just a bit, then the food was brought to us. The burger looked good as well as the fries. Not sure if the husband didn't want catsup or if it wasn't available. The salad was filling and good with lettuce, a small bit of diced red onion, quite a bit of diced celery, and some tomato atop a bed of ribbon sliced lettuce. We ate and looked around, we couldn't see the chef and the bartender had gone to deliver drinks to a people on the outdoor deck. Oddities: 2 salad dressings avail: Ranch or Italian? Cheese on salad was chopped sandwich/burger type. Overall: Limited menu with the basics of what you'd want to quickly grab - burger, a couple sandwiches with a wrap option, chips or fries, and this garden salad.
