I'm confused by the negative reviews, as I had a very pleasant experience here. Dee greeted me upon arrival and walked me through the menu and the best way to order from the kiosk. I came on my lunch to get work done, and the entire time I was working, so was Dee. She checked on me a few times to make sure the food was tasty (it was! nice and spicy nashville hot sandwich) and exchange some friendly banter. I saw these kinds of interactions with all the guests in the restaurant. They played good music, had a garage door open, and even had lots of activities for kiddos like mini golf and an arcade machine. Not a good experience. Found a hair in my sandwich which is disgusting but had already gotten home unfortunately. The girl working there was incredibly rude. The food was horrible, it tasted like it was just dipped in grease, the bread was literally saturated in grease. First time. When you enter they have one visible employee who directed you to the kiosk to place your order. For some reason you have to enter your debit card or CC first before ordering. I placed my order and wasn't sure if my food would be brought or I picked it up somewhere. As I sat and looked around I saw they had a monitor that told you when your order was ready with a number next to it. That number was for the cubicle they placed your order in. I was sitting on the opposite end and didn't notice it at first. Now for the food... I ordered the deluxe chicken sandwich and tater tots. It was $14. The deluxe has bacon and a herb mayo. I liked it, but... It comes with a ton of herb mayo which some people might not like. Tater tots were small but good. I asked about sauces and they charge for any sauce besides ketchup. Awesome concept but unfortunately the customer service and service in general is lacking. This is a one and done for me. This business should not offer a bar if they do not have anyone to pour drinks. Self service is awesome to order and grab your food but they fall short on happy hour and lack of service. I received an insincere apology from a staff member for being busy yet there was only one couple inside, one table on the patio, and a few cars in the drive through and faulted for another employee offering a refund. One of the Worst Fast Food Experiences I've Ever Had From the moment we walked in, it was clear this place was a mess. Dirty tables everywhere, not a single greeting from the staff, and one of the four menu screens was completely dead. It set the tone for what turned out to be an absolutely miserable experience. There was one poor girl up front doing everything on her own--taking orders, preparing food, handling drinks. Clearly, this location is understaffed and poorly managed. We ordered combo meals and paid to upgrade our drinks to the large size, only to be told they were out of large cups. When I asked for a refund, I was told, "These are all the cups we have"--which turned out to be the small ones. Ridiculous. I ordered the 3-piece Nashville hot tenders, which were a total joke. Overcooked, dry, flavorless--there was absolutely nothing "Nashville" or "hot" about them. The ranch, which they charge $0.50 for, was equally bland and completely forgettable. When I went to get ketchup, the dispenser was empty. I let the girl know, and instead of fixing it, she just threw a bucket of ketchup packets on the counter. The ice machine? Barely functioning. I had to stand there forever just to fill one cup. For over $32, we got a below-subpar meal, no service, and an all-around disaster of a dining experience. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. We'll stick with Cane's--better food, better service, and clearly, better management. This place should be embarrassed. read more

I've actually tried this place a few times, it's a fairly new spot in near SanTan. The first 4 times I came here I was not impressed, the chicken was dry, the breading was too thick and it was over fried, everyone! I was about to give up on it and stayed away for several months. This last week I decided to give it a go one more time and I'm super glad I did! This time the seasoning was perfect, the fry was perfect, the chicken was juicy and the birdcall sauce was flawlessly executed! Even the service was prompt and felt very natural, not forced. I went with the tenders alone and it was incredible, by far better than any other tender at any fast food place in the east valley. Only complaint is the sauce is very similar to canes in flavor and look so it doesn't have that unique draw but obviously still enjoyable. You'll thank me for giving this one a try. read more

Not my vibe when I think of going out to eat, it has such potential but leaving the big windows open with the air blowers on high at 8:30 at night when it's already cold out is insane to me so we had to order our food to go. It was moderately busy but super loud and food did take a little bit of a while but that's ok, we ordered two hot chicken sandos, tots which had amazing flavor, chocolate shakes and the shaved Brussels and all the food was really good! Zipped through the drive thru here last night in a rush to get to home and grab a quick bite and was unexpectedly surprised! Kristy was amazing, so friendly and so patient with all our questions she guided us through our order with recommendations and it was an awesome experience. They were quick, and our order came out perfect! They have gluten free and vegan, vegetarian options. She also recommended all the sauces that were her favorite and they were all insanely good! Tator tots were crispy and not bogged down with oil. My salad was so fresh and crispy, I was so impressed! It was restaurant quality but through a drive through. Rancher Burger....was so good! Almost stole it from my daughter! Probably one of the best flavors I have ever tasted. Brussel sprouts were so good, but were a cold salad style still so tasty! Very friendly and patient staff. Menu has lots of options, so o just ultimately ordered the same thing for my entire family. Lol. The tots are amazing, so make sure to get those. I can't remember my sandwich, but it had an onion bacon jam. That's the only thing I would change. I was expecting more of a jam consistency, but it was more chopped, dried, bacon. Still tasty though. My daughter keeps asking to go back and if they build one closer to my house, we'll be regulars lol. read more

Service - You make your own order on a tablet at a counter, no person to take your order. Your name is put up on a screen so you can see your estimated wait time (pretty cool). When your order is ready, the screen displays which cubby to pick up your order Food - the sandwich was delicious. My wife got the tater tots, which were much more tasty than the fries. The fries and tater tots were both big portions, could easily split one between 2 people. The cookies and cream milkshake was good but overpriced and not worth the cost Ambiance - the restaurant feels very modern and fun. Adequate seating with bigger tables for big parties. Feels like a higher-end Chick-fil-A All in all, very happy with my experience at Birdcall! Great food, quick service, and reasonable cost. Will be returning soon read more

The best chicken sandwich so far ....Popeyes is a great contender but if I had to choose ....id choose birdcall. We had the Original and I added lettuce and tomato. It was crunchy and tasty. The bun was not too thin or thick/spongey. Definitely must try. We also had the spicy Szechwan....and yuuummm! Not too spicy and the slaw gave it a nice balance of sweetness. I'll be a bit sad when it's off the menus since it's only available for a limited time. My one concern is price. $18 for just the 2 sandwiches is a bit steep but it's not like I'm wasting these every day so it's a nice treat. read more

We stopped into the recently opened Gilbert location of Birdcall, for lunch, yesterday. Parking: tight spaces. Would be rough with a larger vehicle. First impression: contemporary and clean. Noticed the nice outdoor dining area and putting green. Staff: we were greeted at the front door by a young man. The number of employees inside, milling around, was actually surprising (albeit, friendly) since you place your order on a screen at the counter and you pick up your order from a window box when your name appears on the screens above it. Seemed excessive for 'only' having the task of keeping tables wiped down. Atmosphere: fun and clean. Cool art, lighting and an old school arcade game. There is a small counter/bar and they do serve alcoholic beverages but it seems like a weird place to drink since it's a fast casual establishment. Food: since it was my first visit I decided to go the purist route and ordered The Original chicken sandwich. I purchased a combo meal and I chose the tater tots as my side. My meal was over $15. The sandwich is good but didn't seem much off what I would get at Chick-fil-A. The tots were a disappointment. They were not crunchy...more chewy...with a different taste, slightly smoky. Super cool vibes here! The restaurant is well kept and adorable. Bathrooms are clean The service was wonderful. The girl working the front was knowledgeable and helpful. There are lots of different options to choose from. We got the rancher, deluxe, and a kids 5 piece meal. The sauces are so tasty. Buns were delicious. Pleasantly surprised. We drive past this location the other day while driving somewhere else for lunch and it caught our eye. The location is stunning. The artwork on the wall is very pretty. They have an amazing outdoor area but it did look a little small inside. We decide to go through the drive-through line which is very convenient. The food was amazing. We need more chicken places here in Arizona, and the staff was very nice. They even served glass water bottles that was pretty cool. Menu may seem like a lot of choices but let's be honest it's a chicken sandwich and what kind of flavor do you want: spice, regular, 'southern', with cheese, etc. don't fret the choices. It is a kiosk ordering system so yet another place looking to remove the human interaction. You then watch your order timing on a board which is nice and it's delivered via a numbered cubby system. Drink situation was weird though for fountain drinks. With the kiosk system I didn't get my drink cup and had to ask. Probably something that will get figured out. Nice outside seating mostly (some inside but not a ton). And a big drive through. It took about 5 mins for my order so not sure how fast drive thru would be. Food was good. A bummer, I was super looking forward to this place. Food was honestly bad, the atmosphere was awesome and the service was ok. I would try it again but not soon. Here's the full review... Let's start with the atmosphere - Birdcall is what modern fast food should look like. It's fun, it's got almost "Santa Fe modern" style decor and it looks very cool. Their patio is also huge and well shaded so you can come anytime. I love the timer boards to tell me when my food is ready with a countdown when it's expected to be done. I also love ordering from kiosks because it's super fast. That being said these things do contribute to downsides. Overall decor is the biggest plus for them, unfortunately it's mostly downhill from here. The girl who greeted us when we walked in was super nice but its hard to chit chat since the kiosks are so fast. Basically as soon as she started explaining the menu a little, we could stand and order. She was friendly and helpful but I did feel a little bad holding folks up to listen. We ordered a meal, two sandwiches, fries, tots and a drink. The board immediately showed my name and I opted to not collect a receipt (this was a mistake). So far so good though, they even pulled my name straight from my card, a nice touch. Due to the nature of the super sleek and modern, I got nothing after paying and we just sat down. Mind you, the girl told us that was pretty much how it was. That means that there's only about 2 employees manning the front where there can be as many as 20 people ordering at once and other people getting drinks and stuff. Our food came out just slightly after the timer, I was under the impression this was fast food but it wasnt fast unfortunately (about 15 minutes so not horrible). Our food was super neatly packed but no drinks. I went up to the counter as I thought "oh maybe I missed something" but no, they were behind them up front. The both of the front desk girls looked at me but didn't ask if I needed any help so I just kept standing there. Eventually, one of the girls asked if I needed some help and I told her I never got my drinks. She asked me for my name and I gave it to her. She looked at their board and said "what size did you get?" so I told her my two 16oz drinks. She looked at the board and then looked skeptical. She grabbed two cups and handed them to me saying, "ok, I'll just have to take your word for it!" Uhh jeez, sorry, I didn't know where else I was suppose to get my cups! I was literally told otherwise when I walked in your door. They were slammed though, as I said only two people man the front so I'm sure she was dealing with a lot. There's also only one napkin dispenser in the whole building from what I could see and it was right up front. This is the same place where the ketchup cups and other utensils live. This meant there was like 10 people congregating around there at any given time. This is the same place your food comes out. Theres also no trash near the drink dispensers so I had to just carry all my trash outside with me since there was no other place to toss it, while my hands were full. Finally I get outside and my wife and I can start eating. I had the Nashville hot chicken and my wife had the Southwestern something. I was at this point, otherwise stoked to eat my food cuz it looked pretty good. However, my sandwich was frankly, bad. You know how you sometimes get Chick-fil-A and there's that giant knot of chicken breast in the middle of your sandwich? And it's really hard and tough to bite into? That was my entire sandwich. I begrudgingly ate it because I didn't want to deal with the mess up front and the lady who just belittled me about my drink. Meanwhile, my wife's chicken was actually excellent. It was tender, juicy and well fried. Her only real complaint was that the sauce was a little lacking compared to their photos. Our fries and tater tots were also super great, my fries were the way I wished McDonald's fries tasted so at least a plus there. So at this point I'm just being a little nitpicky but I still think it's important. We are on our way out and it was really tough to get out of this parking lot. Obviously, they're popping because they are new. Therefore, their drive through currently loops back into the parking lot because it's very short. We had to fight our way out a bit because of all the backed up traffic into the parking lot... So overall, this wasnt a complete let down but I'm not returning soon. Maybe in a year or so when theyve had time to iron things out but otherwise, yeah, huge bummer. read more
