    Queen Beak & Firebird
    Khanh T.

I've been here twice and loved it both time. This time I got the Queen Beak & the Firebird. I loved the Queen Beak since the honey made it a little sweeter. The Firebird was really good too, it has a little kick to it and my boyfriend loved the pickles they had. The chicken on both was so tender, juicy, and so crispy. The biscuits were amazing. It was crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, and wasn't falling apart at all. The only "cons" was that the food was so big making it hard and messy to eat. I went at around 9am so there was no one there, it was so peaceful and the food didn't take too long to come out at all. I would recommend coming here early since it gets crowded later on.

The biscuits were amazing and so were the donuts. Definitely would be back. Cute little vibe in Austin. The service was outstanding as well.

This is my second time having this and it's consistently just as good as the first time I had it. I ordered the firebird, which is a spicy breaded fried chicken on a biscuit with herb mayo/sauce and thick cut pickles. The chicken was perfectly fried and full of flavor. The best fried chicken in Austin IMO!

This was my favorite meal from my very short trip in Austin. Bird Bird Biscuit is serving up some serious eats! There is a small parking lot and then street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Scan the QR code to order or order at the kiosk. On a Monday morning there was no one in line. They have a few bar seats of outdoor dining. No indoor dining here. We decided to go for the most popular item which is the Queen Beak. I paired it with an unsweetened apricot tea cause when you do see apricot iced tea often? They text you when your order is ready for pick up and you go to the pick up window. Each order is made fresh. They have a few breakfast sandwich options if that's more your jam than chicken. The Queen Beak might look simple but it is a flavor punch. The biscuits are so fluffy and soft, and the chicken is so tender on the inside. The breading is crispy and the sauce gives it a sweet and savory flavor profile. Even though there isn't anything else but the sauce, chicken, and biscuit, it works so well together. Wash it down with unsweetened apricot tea to cut back some of the heaviness. The apricot is subtle but there. Such a great refreshing beverage! Would definitely return and recommend to anyone visiting Austin!

I've been living in Austin for almost 5 years, and I can't believe I was today years old when I finally tried my first biscuit sandwich at this iconic staple! I absolutely loved my Firebird Chicken Sandwich -- it had the perfect ratio of dill flavor (from the mayo) and spiciness. The thick-cut sweet pickles added the perfect bite of sweetness and crunch that took the sandwich to the next level in my opinion! The spicy fried chicken breast had just the right amount of crispy batter without making the chicken dry. Overall service was quick for a late Sunday lunch and I enjoyed how you order at a monitor and pick up your meal at the counter. All the seating at this location is outside and on their deck/patio, but they do have a bathroom inside in case you need it. I loved the casual ambiance while eating these delicious sandwiches -- I'll absolutely be back soon! :)

THE BESTTTTTTTT. I loved both of them. And so so worth it. It's a must if you come to Austin. I always drop by this place if I'm looking for a heavy meal for a drive back or a long day ahead of it. These two were our favorite. With firebird being #1!!!!! Service was quick and efficient, ambiance is okay. It's an outdoor seating or more like a to go thing.

Came here during the morning of the Austin International Half Marathon during the Texas Cold front around 740 AM. A friend highly recommended this place so I had to give it a try. You order at the kiosk on the outdoor patio, and receive your order at another window. All seatings are outdoors. I placed my order, waited for approximately 15 minutes, and later found out my order did not go through due to the system being down. I suppose the 30 degree weather interfered with the network, but the friendly staff quickly addressed the issue and made my food within a few short minutes after. I ordered the "Lovely Day" (House-Made Chicken Sausage Biscuit with Cheddar Cheese) and absolutely fell in love. The chicken sausage and cheddar cheese are a match made in heaven, and the fresh biscuits wrapped it all together. Truly the best biscuit I've ever had in my life. I finished eating closer to 8 AM, and a line of customers were forming. This place is absolutely the spot and I highly recommend for all biscuit lovers!

Our family was visiting Austin during the weekend when a winter storm was approaching. A lot of places were closing early but thankfully Bird Bird Biscuit did not or at least they were still open when we stopped by around 3 pm. There is no indoor seating otherwise we would've dined in. Instead we took two Carolina Caviar sandwiches and two order of fries to go. With a lot of places closing early for the day, these were the perfect homey and comfort food to stay in and relax with, especially after a few hours of video games.

Such a great breakfast spot! This is a grab-and-go spot with limited outdoor seating, so just keep that in mind when ordering. You can order online or call in and order ahead of time or walk up to the order window. I got the lovely day and my friend got the queen beak. The lovely day was so yummy! It was my ideal breakfast sandwich. The chicken sausage patty was well seasoned and the egg was perfectly cooked. The basil pesto was also a nice touch to a traditional breakfast sandwich and was super fresh. The cherry on top was definitely the biscuits. They were so fluffy and pillowy, some of the best biscuits I've ever had. The only con is that it is quite a filling/heavy breakfast. (8.5/10) I also got to try my friend's queen beak and the fried chicken was really moist and well seasoned. The chipotle mayo was a bit more tangy than I expected, but overall a great sandwich. (7.5/10) The service was super friendly and helpful with the menu. I will definitely come back when I am in the area.

Rating: 4.2/ 5 [UberEats Delivery] I was craving Bird Bird ever since the first time I had it two weeks ago, so we ordered it on UberEats this time. The food was neatly packaged and each item had its own bag, which I appreciated. Theodore ($13.70) + Spiced Honey ($0.50): Fried chicken breast, bacon, BBQ sauce, and cheddar. My husband asked for no cheddar. His fried chicken breast was huge, but the biscuits were more overcooked compared to the Carolina Caviar. The spiced honey surprisingly didn't pair well with this sandwich. The BBQ sauce didn't taste like your typical BBQ; it reminded me of cranberry sauce since it was more sweet than tangy. The bacon tasted like McDonald's bacon and was dry and shriveled. I actually made an egg at home and added it to the sandwich, which helped. Carolina Caviar ($14.40): Fried chicken breast, hatch green chili pimento cheese, dill pickles. The hatch green chili pimento cheese with the biscuit gives crab cake benedict vibes in the best way. The biscuits were still overcooked and crumbly, slightly brown instead of golden. Because the biscuits were dry, I like adding the dill mayo on top for extra flavor and moisture. This one was better than the Theodore for me. Dill Mayo Sauce ($1.20): Still delicious, but not as phenomenal as the first time. Fries ($4.20) + Bacon-Infused Chipotle Dipping Sauce ($1): The fries weren't crispy when they arrived, so we air-fried them. The seasoning was good though. We didn't really taste the bacon in the chipotle sauce, so I would skip it.

Bird Bird Biscuit is hands down one of my absolute favorite breakfast and brunch spots ever. My wife and I make it a point to come here every single time we are in Austin and honestly even when we are staying way up in Liberty Hill the drive is always worth it. This place is a staple for us and never disappoints. I am a huge sucker for fried chicken and their spicy fried chicken biscuit sandwich is unreal. The chicken is perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat, tucked inside this thick doughy biscuit that somehow stays light and fluffy at the same time. Then you get those big chunky pickles that add the perfect crunch and this spicy dill mayo aioli situation that I do not even know how to describe other than it is ridiculously good. We have had almost everything on the menu at this point. The Lovely Bird is great, The Theodore with the bacon is amazing, and the Little Dipper is such a sleeper hit. It is basically the perfect grilled cheese. Thick, crispy on the outside, soft and melty on the inside. Their Dodos are also awesome, these light airy donut bites that are perfect to snack on after crushing a spicy chicken sandwich. And obviously the biscuits deserve their own shoutout. They are not too dense, not dry, not overly heavy. Just the perfect balance of light, fluffy, buttery, and warm. The biscuits and gravy are fantastic too. Everything feels well thought out and executed perfectly. I truly cannot recommend this place enough. If you love fried chicken, biscuits, or just really good comfort food, Bird Bird Biscuit is a must. One of those places that lives up to the hype every single time.

So happy to see a new location opened right by me on South Lamar! We walked up on a Sunday morning around 11am and were able to find a seat no problem. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio as it was a nice day out. You order at a kiosk outside (or on your phone) and pick up at the window. I got the vegetarian Biscuitarian sandwich which was incredible - the biscuit was so soft and the sauce was great. My boyfriend got the Queen Beak and added an egg and bacon. We also shared their Dough Doughs (SO good) and got a refreshing orange juice and strawberry lemonade. Really enjoyed out meal here - definitely lived up to the hype!

Are you still operating takeaway only? Thank you :)

Take out only. I drove there hungry and wanted a sit down meal. I left.

Are the gluten free versions' chicken battered in regular flour? Is just the biscuit gluten free but not the chicken?

Right, the fried chicken is not gluten free.

Are all your chicken spiced like in a hot flavor? Are there regular chicken with no hot spices?

Spice is in the sauce, not the chicken. The chicken itself is seasoned, but not spic(y).

    Is there a vegan option?

No but the have plain biscuits and egg biscuits.

Any update on the gluten free biscuit?

They have a gluten free biscuit option as a substitute for any sandwich

Can I place large order for pick-up in advance (2 weeks prior)? I've called two days in a row and left a voicemail and no one has answered, and the online ordering isn't allowing orders!

I doubt it. They sell out on a daily basis, and typically volume restaurants like them don't take orders like that simply because they don't have to

Are your biscuits vegan (dairy free)? Are vegetarian biscuits allium free?

They are not vegan. They are vegetarian. We use clabber girl for our baking powder and at they announced a new formula that is allium free. As soon as it is available in bulk, we will make that switch.

Are dogs allowed in patio area?

    Yes!

Are there any gluten free options?

There are GF biscuits now. :)

So you have any white meat sandwiches or all thigh meat?

    Thigh!

Do y'all think y'all will sell alcoholic beverages in your future?

I'd definitely opt in for a mimosa if you offered it. I overheard a few tables discussing how it was the best place to come after a late night of partying so perhaps there are those that would go for a bloody Mary or Mimosa with their biscuits for… Read more

    Got gluten free biscuits?

Yes! They are currently on the menu

    Do your biscuits contain milk?

    They do indeed

Are you guys ever going to bring back a vegetarian sandwich option?

Will you be open on New Year's Day?

Hi Kayla! No we’ll be closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and open normally after that. Thanks for asking! :)

Will you guys be open post Thanksgiving Day?

Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.

What's good about Soup Peddler? Despite their name, I prefer their smoothies over their soups. Their soups are prepared offsite and delivered in the morning to all Soup Peddler locations. Thus, no location is aware or can predict what will be on their menu for soup specials each day through the week. However, other than their daily specials, they usually have a set soup menu. They offer monthly smoothie specials, discounted daily smoothie specials, and staff favorite creations. Of course, you can always create and customize your own. Both were well smoked, had the fat Smokey and rendered down, and was tender without falling apart. Their smoked sausage selection was also fantastic. I was blown away by the jalapeño cheddar sausage because most places I've been to have that cheese and jalapeño in chunks but not here. It was rendered into the sausage without changing the texture and mixed in perfectly. Their smoked bologna was also something unique to me as I wouldn't normally order it but boy was it good. Less salty than the commercialized stuff and significantly better bologna flavor. Their ribs seem to be brined with something sweet because even without sauce, it was sweet, tender, post oakey and with their own flavors that make it a must have. The last thing I got there to share with friends was the TX cheesesteak made with brisket. Not too salty, super savory and when you add their hot sauce to it, it created a perfect balance. They also have some fantastic collard greens that are cooked with pastrami and/or brisket depending on their offerings. Because they're also a deli, they have some in house pickled vegetables that are a nice contrast to their meats. Their potato salad was good but didn't really stick out. Last but not least, their baked beans were not my cup of tea but my friends liked the flavor but wished the beans were a little softer. Finally, don't skimp out on their deserts. We had their browned butter chess pie and boy was it worth it. It was buttery, almondy and silky. My friend also got their cheesecake and said great things about it. Their service and ambiance was quite nice there. Their manager met up with us and even though we gave him some trouble about not having ribs yet, he got those out to us when he said he could and also told us about the history of the restaurant. Super friendly and allowed us to have a great time there. Plenty of seating but I'd recommend getting there early if you have a group. All in all, great varied offerings from meats to sandwiches to deserts. Go check them out!

I paid for my order, but I don't have any food," and he tells me I need to contact DoorDash. - I tell him "I'll contact DoorDash, but they can only give me a refund. I'd like my food?" Only then does he tells the staff to get me a new order and tells me "LOOK, we're getting you your food." UPDATE: Mum Foods Management replied with a bizarre comment. Mum claimed I was 90 minutes late picking up my order, saying I picked up my order at 2pm. - So which is it? Someone stole my order OR was I too late picking it up? - Their rebuttal may explain why the employee felt justified in being so rude - he incorrectly thought I was late picking up my order. Either way, there's no reason to be rude. - I was NOT 90 minutes late (I have Ring footage of leaving my house at 12:10pm for Mum Foods and returning home at 12:37pm with my order in hand), but Mum's argument is moot either way. If I were hours late, the order should still be there for pick up because the business is supposed to check names. "A 1 star review really hurts a local business like us and I hope you reconsider" - If you don't want a 1 star review, respond with a sincere apology, and don't be rude to customers or lie in your response. "For what its worth we prepared your food twice and obviously lose money in a situation like that" - If you don't want to lose money by preparing an order twice, you should confirm names when people pick up orders.

One of my favorite sandwich spots in Austin, hands down. The Knuckle Sandwich is easily my favorite…read moresandwich in the city -- packed with flavor, satisfying every time, and most importantly, consistently good no matter when I go. That consistency is what really keeps me coming back. You know exactly what you're getting, and it always delivers. Austin has no shortage of food trucks, but this one definitely stands out if you're craving a solid sandwich that actually lives up to the hype.

Seriously the most amazing sandwhiches!!! I came the first day to look and it was closed, came back…read morethe 2nd day twice and then brought it home to family. We seriously love Diana for her recommendation got the knuckle and the veggies. Knuckles was perfect lettuce and perfect meat ratio. Not too much lettuce and very generous with meat. The cheese crisps was so so so so good and just made the perfect crunch. The veggie though was so so amazing I have never had such an amazing artichoke sandwhich it was so good. If your taking it to GO and eating later let them know and they will pack the soggy stuff separately. Once again we are in love with this sandwhich and its definetly a must ever time in Austin. Thank you Diana and team for the best sandwhich ever !

Knuckle Sandwich - The fresh herbs were a bit excessive on the lamb sammie. Would have liked the lamb to be the dominant flavor, not the mint.
