However, the nice folks at the bistro were able to serve me without a reservation (restaurant was about 2/3 full). The food was a little high but not crazy for a sit down restaurant and given I wasn't all that hungry, it was the perfect amount of food. They serve fresh bread with butter spread before your entree and it is so, so lovely! I ended up getting one of their appetizer salads with fresh fruit on a bed of roast veg, and I got two drinks - the "Rose French 75" ($16 - has alcohol) and "the inversion" ($11 - mocktail version of the "Jackson fog" cocktail). I can genuinely say both drinks but particularly the inversion were two of the best drinks I've had; the flavor was perfectly sweet, just a bit floral, and distinct from any other drink I've had (which is something I love to experience!). They paired great with the salad and the bread. They were also sweet enough I didn't even need dessert (although the huckleberry cheesecake and the bread pudding were tempting). I would go here again just to get another inversion mocktail if nothing else. It's a lovely place to have dinner and just enjoy the ambiance near Jackson square - highly recommend!!

Crawfish & Dumpling - 9/10 For the table. Pungent; a few bites satisfy. I've never had crawfish in this setting. Perfect gnocchi. Delicious all around. Oyster Shooter - 8/10 Fairly priced, fresh. Nice bloody mary. Rabbit Ravioli - 6.5/10 Stingy portion of meat. Ravioli is just okay. The fried carrot nest was fun but it was too much for the serving. It's a carrot salad with a bite of meat and maybe 5 ravioli. Bar Steak - One came overcooked and one under. Sides were mediocre. Uninteresting mashed potatoes. Our waitress tried to take our order almost immediately after being seated. She visited few times after ordering. With a 5:30 reservation, we left by 5:57 thanks to the small portions and staff seeming to rush us out. In a tourist destination, I would imagine better hospitality and warmth from local workers. We called well within 24 hrs of our reservation. We unfortunately will not be going back there. And we will make sure we let anyone know this policy. It's a really cool place, and it's bustling with people. That said, I do think it's probably a little bit overhyped given the sheer number of folks in there on the weekend I came to visit. The drinks all sound pretty good; they had a huckleberry Moscow Mule that I wanted to try, but the evening that I came by they actually were having trouble with their cash register and could only take cash. I didn't have any, so I wasn't actually able to buy anything. They do also have food at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, but it's kind of pretty standard bar food, so I wasn't particularly interested in that. There was also almost nowhere to sit -- I got lucky and there ended up being one seat at the bar, and I was by myself so I parked it there and hung out for 15-20 mins to enjoy the vibe. But there were groups coming in and out who ended up just standing around by the tables or in the corner because there weren't any seats available at the bar or the main floor with tables. My understanding is that they do sometimes have karaoke or live music or something like that. The day that I was there (Saturday of memorial day weekend), I didn't see live music within the bar but that was the weekend of the "Million Dollar Country Music Festival," which took place just outside the bar in Jackson Square. It was free, and despite being very packed, it was super cool! The area immediately in front of the bar was shoulder to shoulder, but there were some areas around the park to sit and you could hear the stage just fine. Overall, it's a pretty cool area. Regardless of if you want drinks or food, you should probably come check it out when visiting Jackson Hole if you've never been. Of note, there is a little bit of street parking that's free for a couple of hours during the day (and free in the evenings in general), but do just take note of the signs about where and what time the parking is free so that you don't end up getting ticketed or towed (there are indeed a good number of state troopers around the area who do seem to keep an eye on that).

While I loved the cafe, which had a dining room with a great view of the peaceful elk refuge area and covered outdoor seating with the same wonderful view, our experience was not all that wonderful or peaceful. Unfortunately we were seated next to a very very large table of mostly female young adults who had no regard for the others in the cafe. They were so loud and distracting that it was impossible to enjoy our lunch let alone have a conversation amongst ourselves. The wait staff also had a hard time hearing our order. I believe the management should have either asked them to respect the others in the cafe and lower their conversations or not have seated anyone around them. Here's a thought, set them up outside. While the acoustics in the cafe did make the situation worse, management should really think about their other patrons. It is difficult to say many complimentary things about the food or the service when the overall experience was not good.

We had dinner here the last night of our trip and it was the best way to close out our time here in Wyoming. It is easily one of our top 5 meals ever. What we had: -Fleeting Smile Zero Proof drink, delicious, and iced tea with simple syrup to sweeten -Meatballs alla Nonna - the meatballs themselves were fantastic, and the red sauce tasted a lot like MY homemade red sauce! We were very happy with this, to say the least. -Salumi & Formaggi - favorite meat and cheese plate we've ever had. Everything was perfectly selected and paired together on the board. Could not have been more pleased. -Charred broccolini - cooked perfectly to a bright and vibrant color, accompanied by a spicy Calabrian chili aioli. I feel like I always need something green with my dinner and this was an excellent addition to the table. -Rye Cavatelli - great chew on the fresh cavatelli. I watched the PBS spotlight on Glorietta and Wyoming Heritage Grains a few days prior and it made it all the more meaningful to order this dish and taste the hard work and care that goes into the flour and the pasta. And the elk bolognese was wonderful, too, with salty chunks of meat throughout. -Prime NY Strip - if a steak could melt in your mouth. And the additions of the porcini butter and the vincotto pushed it to another level. Spectacular. -Duck breast with creamy polenta, grilled carrots, and balsamic reduction - I have no words. My first bite with a bit of the polenta stopped me dead in my tracks and I had a visceral reaction. A transcendental food moment. It was rich beyond belief; I had no idea duck breast could be like this. Still blown away thinking about it. -Espresso (local coffee!) served with biscotti, and s'mores (graham blondie, smoked ganache, honey meringue), which was absolute bliss and surprisingly not too heavy All in all, a fabulous, romantic, elevated dining experience. He was simply not engaged with us. We told him it was our 30th wedding anniversary and he offered us free prosecco, but when I said we didn't drink, that was the end of that. We don't expect free things. Really. But it was a bit off-putting that if we said no to free alcohol, specifically, that the offer was entirely retracted. It seemed like he was very distracted by a larger party in his section and was giving them all of his attention, so maybe that is why he seemed disconnected. But he also didn't seem to understand any of my comments or small jokes and we had to repeat ourselves in every interaction. He tried to be "nice" but it came off as disingenuous. While we love cocktails and were impressed with the menu, we were in a wine mood. They have a petite selection of wines by the glass but there's plenty of bottles to choose from. For appetizers we were in the mood for light and refreshing, so the bartender recommended the caesar salad with fresh anchovies. It was perfect for us to share and we loved it. He also mentioned the pasta was house made, so we knew we had to try it. We ordered the fusilli which was so flavorful in spite of being a very simple dish. Our neighbors sitting next to us ordered it first and said it was some of the best they've ever had and they're from NY and have high standards. For our main entree we shared the trout which is from Idaho. I am not that familiar with trout and always forget it's not a white fish but similar to salmon in looks (pink in color) and taste.
