Had a breakfast date this morning at Bill's Café and overall it was a great experience. We were seated right away, offered coffee, and brought water immediately. We did have a bit of a wait before our server came by, so we asked a few staff members for assistance. A gentleman named Daniel stepped in, went to find our server, and when he couldn't locate them, he kindly took our order himself. Daniel checked on us several times throughout breakfast and gave truly excellent service. The food also came out pretty quickly, and the French toast was amazing as always. This location has a good flow of patrons coming through. I went around brunch time during the work week and it had a constant flow of people while I was there. I went alone to read and enjoy some food and the service was really nice. Very attentive, but they also kept me to myself when I was reading. Looked like it was even the manager that was coming by to refill peoples coffee and water. He noticed I didn't get my toast and immediately had them come by and drop it off. At first I was nervous about how the cornbeef hash was going to taste because of how it looks, but it tasted just the way I like. It came with a large amount of hashbrowns. Came here this morning with my husband and my daughter and everything was great. The food was excellent, everything tasted fresh and well made. Our server Paola was amazing, very attentive, kind, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Honestly all the staff were great, anyone who walked by checked on us and asked if we needed anything, which I really appreciated. The owner was there and that stood out to me. He was present, walking around, making sure everything was running smooth, and just had a really welcoming energy. You don't always see that, and it made the experience feel even better. The restaurant itself was clean, and I have to mention the bathroom because that matters to me. Usually I have to hold my daughter up because bathrooms can be so dirty, but this one was very clean and well kept. The food is solid; some of the best brunch food in the Fremont area alongside Breeze Cafe, Skilletz, and my beloved Lazy Dog. I gotta say though, there's always a wait, and because we're such a big party, we end up waiting for an incredibly long time because they only have like 2 big tables. The staff is unable to push tables together to accomodate our party of 10...we always need to wait for people to vacate the large tables in the back. For that reason, we're always raging hungry be the time we get to the table, and it's not fun anymore. Other than that, the service is just fine even though the restaurant is always crowded, especially during weekend brunch time. It seems like it's always a loud and lovely time We would put Bill's in our regular rotation, but because of the ridiculous wait time, it is not, and I gotta take a couple stars off. The food was really good, I got the strawberry cheesecake pancakes and they were so yummy and filling 10/10. My friend got the Lox Bagel and was left wanting a little more - it's a pricy item on the menus and it is saved with eggs and hash browns. The eggs and hash browns looked standard - the bagel came out after about 5 minutes so she had to eat those first while she waited. When the bagel and cream cheese finally came out, she was able to enjoy the lox. It came with lettuce instead of capers which is what I've seen to be standard when it comes to higher end west coast diners. The diner was full but the wait time wasn't too bad, we checked in ahead of time online, checked in once we got to the restaurant, and we were seated not too long after. The food was better this time, but the service was worse. When we sat down, the table was already crowded. For a party of 10 we had 3 jelly containers plus hot sauce and syrup, which left no room once the plates came. The portions are huge and usually take 2 plates, so the tables really need to be cleared before meals come out. Our server felt very rushed, and the food runners made things confusing. For example, I ordered country fried steak with hash browns and scrambled eggs. They only said "eggs and hash browns" when they dropped it off. Nobody ordered just that, so we all looked around not knowing who it was for. Only after some frustration did they say it was part of the country fried steak order. That kind of communication made the meal stressful. The worst part was at the end. I asked for a to-go box right before we paid, but the server never came back. We waited more than 10 minutes, tried to get help from others, and even asked a busser who never returned. I finally had to get up and grab one myself. Our server, Scarlet, never came back to the table at all. If you can't serve a party of 10 with patience and basic communication, maybe this isn't the right job. First time at Bill's Cafe at this location and it was fine! There was about a 20 minute way on Sunday for brunch and there is a waiting area outside and inside. You will need to scan the QR code to get on the waitlist and they will text you once your table is ready. On the waitlist, you can say if you want indoor seating or patio seating. We ordered the omelette, basic breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with no meat and potatoes + toast, then 4 mini waffles on the side. The waffle was much bigger than I thought but it was perfect size! The waiter came to our table often to refill coffee which was good. There's a parking lot or you can take BART to Fremont and walk about a mile to Bill's Cafe. Mothers Day on service is stressful - I get that and grateful they take the time work for the public but rudeness upon our arrival and NOT utilizing the Toast app correctly wasn't helpful either. We joined the waiting list using the Toast app like I've done for many other Bills Cafe locations and let them know I was on the list and instead of "any" seating, we needed indoors because my 75 year old mom was cold on this overcast day. The hostess and two waitresses looked at me like I was bothering them and just said OK just be seated and we'll get to you. I said OK and I sat down. We waited for an hour and a half and I noticed that people were leaving and being seated, and the number of people on my app had not changed. Finally, when I let them know, she says oh you should've told us you were here and that's why you did not get seated. I tried to when I arrived but ... 15 minutes after we were finally seated, then the app texted me and told me that my seat was ready. Which also means that after finding out, I had use the app and they finally seated me, they did not remove me for the list. This location was not using the toast app correctly and costed us an hour and a half wait unnecessarily. The food was good, but the Service could use some work. read more

Get the cinnamon pancakes instead if you're going for the cinnamon roll vibe - 100% better. Unfortunately, the savory options have been a miss for me. The chicken was juicy and not dry at all. The chicken all came with dark meat, wing, drumstick, and thigh. The waffle was soft, but could be a tiny bit crispier. Overall, I would order this a hundred times over. Hash brown skillet - This was okay. The hashbrowns were decent but they seemed a bit too soft and a tiny bit soggy. Solid brunch spot! Came here for the first time with family on Saturday. It was my first time inside a Bill's Cafe and overall had a good experience. They have the right amount of food and drink options. My family all enjoyed their dishes: chilaquiles, fried chicken benedict, California omelette and garden delight scramble, plus a pancake and waffle for the kids. Service was good, wait for food wasn't too long, and our waiter was friendly. Fun fact: The espresso martini has no espresso! One thing they could improve on: Communication on large parties of 6+. We were a group of 8 and their website asks to call the restaurant ahead of time. I did that morning and was told to call 30 minutes before I planned to arrive so I could get my name on the list. And when I did call, I was told my table would be ready in 35 minutes. (On the way to the restaurant, I got a text that my table was ready, but when I called the restaurant again, I was told they sent the message by accident.) When I arrived, I was told to wait another 30 minutes until another table was cleared up. It ended up being a 20-minute wait, which wasn't bad. But it still left me confused: I didn't expect the additional wait time after checking in at the front desk. Takeaway: Even if you do call ahead for a 6+ person party, expect to wait after you check in at the front desk because they don't have a reservation system. The website and hostesses can do a better job of communicating that. That aside, the rest of my time there was smooth. read more
