When I said that was okay, the staff didn't offer any alternative recommendations, which made the experience feel unwelcoming. We celebrated Lola's 100th birthday here and it was a very nice family party. The party was in a blocked off area which was a little hard to have a central stage that everyone could see. The ambiance is typical hotel restaurant vibes. Plus parking was easy since it was a hotel. The food was pretty good. We had buffet style of the following: Clam chowder Roasted veggies Greek pasta salad Fruit Chicken piccatta Salmon w/mango glaze Beef strip loin w/mushroom demi Rice Assorted desserts Service was available but stayed out of sight as much as possible. The food is super delicious especially the Caprese Sandwich. They are able to modify the items for your diet. We got the pizza with no cheese and the spaghetti & meatballs, substitute with chicken. We made reservations for 7PM on a Friday and we were the only ones there dining. It was nice to watch the band do sound check. Many tables had reserved signs on it. Most people arrive about 8PM and then all the tables & the parking lot fills up. The live band was awesome & singers were very talented. Dang who would have thought. I'm reviewing a hotel restaurant on Yelp. Usually hotel eats are an afterthought and are just there to cater to the hotel guests. But this place feels different. When the wife told me she had her holiday dinner here, I was like huuuuhhh?? We stepped in and it was immediately a great vibe. On this 630pm Saturday, it was already bustling. The bar is very nice and welcoming, and the bartender I got was great. She always gave me a smile and did my drinks right. Esp the old fashioned. Speaking of which, the patrons here are predominantly on the older side. Which is fine. You dont expect any real trouble or issues with the older crowd. That said, I thought it was funny they still had a couple of security/bouncers at the front. Big dudes too. They had a $32 prime rib special on the weekends. Which is a fantastic value. You wont get confused by HOPR, but it's still pretty good. I'd like to see it less done, but it was still tender enough. Very delicious. Comes with wine and a cheesecake. Located at the lobby floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, the restaurant club has plenty of tables and chairs for dining as well as bar seating adjacent to the dance floor. The staff keeps the space consistently well-kept, clean and brightly lit, even during club hours. Free parking is available in the private lot. Food: 3 stars. Below are some food items that we ordered during my most recent visit on the evening of Saturday, August 3, 2024: Pork Belly Sliders - Everyone enjoyed these Asian-themed sandwiches. The meat was surprisingly lean. Calamari - Good. They looked crispier than they were, but these deep fried pieces of squid were still enjoyable. French Fries - Excellent! Served hot and fresh with a perfect golden crisp. Fish And Chips - The servings of fish were pretty huge, but, sadly, the big pieces of fish were not very crispy, despite requesting them to be. We were disappointed by the insufficient crisp. Pan Seared Sea Bass - I replaced the Roasted Pee Wee Potato with Mashed Potatoes and requested for the Citrus Herb Broth to be put on the side in a ramekin. To our dismay, when we arrived, the hostess and our server informed us that guests under 21 would not be able to stay in the dining room. We were furious. Luckily, after some while, Head Chef Villegas got involved in the situation, moving us to a table that was still considered part of the restaurant instead of the club, so that no party guests would be kicked out. Mom was so appreciative of his rescue that she bought him a drink. Not sure who initially misinformed my aunt, but what a major fail that would have been if anyone from the party would have been forced to leave. Sounds like they need to train team members better. Ysa was our server at our new table. She was great. Bistro 880 hosts local bands on Friday and Saturday nights which what has also been reeling in my aunts. For them, it's a neighbourhood discothèque which is great...for their age group. This place is really not my scene at all because 1. I'm not a big fan of their food, 2. most of the club go-ers are senior citizens, and 3. the bands, who tend to play outdated music, are mediocre to not very good. Even the DJ will throw in old music like songs from ABBA. No, thanks. Always a plus for me to have plenty of parking. The Bistro is located inside of the Doubletree Hotel. Luckily we made reservations ~ I've read some reviews that say not necessary to make reservations, but on this particular night, they were hosting an event for 100 people. Make reservations! We walked in the entrance to Bistro 880 was blocked off a little confusing how to get in, but we figured it out. The sign said wait to be seated and we waited and waited and waited the gal that finally approached us , a little short, not greeting us, just asked if we had reservations. I said yes she took us to our table. Said someone would be right with us. We waited 20 minutes before a waiter finally came our way. His name was Lupe, and he was very entertaining, which made the first part of arriving a bit more pleasant. We ordered our drinks and food, and that came in an acceptable time frame. We ordered the flatbread pizza very good the margarita and the all meat. The pork sliders not my favorite just chunk of pork served inside some type of bread? Wine was decent for the price. The best part was the band that was playing. They were absolutely fabulous. The security guards were very kind greeting us. Bathrooms are located in the Hotel lobby. Very clean. So i travel for work and stay in Hilton hotels and use to eating at hotel restaurants. I ate breakfast here today, and was impressed so I figured id give the place for dinner. I was seated fairly quickly given my menu. The waiter came back i ordered my Old Fashion Wedge Salad w/Shrimp and a Margarita pizza. My Old Fashion arrived and i was surprised on how small it was. I doubt i got a Old Fashion it had less than 2 oz of liquid in it. My wedge salad arrived and about a minute later my "Pizza" arrived. I assumed the waiter would have delayed the delivery of "pizza". So, here i have my salad and pizza. Salad was excellent but could have used slightly more dressing. The pizza had many issues. I ordered a margarita pizza it cane with grape tomatoes and micro greens. It wasn't to have grape tomatoes or micro greens it was missing basil. The crust wasn't fully cooked. I would have told someone if they came by and check on me, that didn't happen. The wait staff stood around the hostess stand. I wish i could write a better review. read more

It wasn't as busy as other Saturday nights that were not salsa night. Ordered calamari and pork belly sliders for appetizers. Ordered the prime rib special for dinner with a side of shrimp scampi. The appetizers were pretty good. The calamari seemed a small portion for $17. The sliders were not on typical buns. The pork belly were in Asian bao buns. They were good but could've been more better presentation. The Caesar salad that came with my prime rib was okay. Missing croutons tho. The prime rib was cooked as requested. The mashed potatoes were like hard rubber from the outside. I was not a fan of the asparagus stems not cut off. And the scampi was not great. The sides alone were just not edible. The cheesecake that also came with the prime rib special was probably the best thing. The service was okay. Just not attentive as it should be. I probably won't be having my own celebration here. The food was ok, not the best in flavor. For breakfast I ordered the huevos rancheros and they were like chilaquiles? The sauce was like the tomato sauce from a can. We also ordered a burger and flatbread pizza and they didn't have pepperoni so it had to be just cheese. Burger needed more seasoning. Reason I'm happy with this place is because the front desk of the hotel refused to help me with freezing my ice packs for my breast milk and Manuel from Bistro helped me out without hesitation. I worked here in the early 90's when it was the Newark-Fremont Hilton. With the name changed, they have update the restaurant area and it looks much nicer than what I remembered. Came here for Mother's Day Brunch. They had a variety of food items. Take a look at the photo for all the buffet menu, too many to type out, LOL!!! The Prime-Rib was one of the better ones I had, very juicy and tender cooked perfectly. Good flavor au jus sauce!!! You really can't find good prime-rib at a buffet, but this is very good. The King Crab legs were over cook and chewy, but still edible. This is the reason why I didn't give this review a 5 stars. The service was great, kept the mimosas flowing. Very cool vibe with a large open space dining area. White tablecloth place with seriously delicious food. The chicken skewers were tasty and the greek yogurt sauce was on point. The chicken wings were very large for the price. We asked for the sauce on the side which made the wings super crispy. A bottle of wine is only $35. We had 2 servers for our large table of 10 and they kept checking in on us. The live music was so fun! The dance floor was packed. I recommend making a reservation if you come after 8 pm. read more

Tucked inside the Double Tree Hotel in Newark CA is Bistro 880. So my friends and I decided to spend an early Mother's Day last night here and it did not disappoint. Surely make a booking coz after 8pm, the place was jam-packed! The food prices were all reasonable and the waitstaff (ours was the chinita lady was excellent. Everybody was just accommodating. There was this live band that was so entertaining and the sound system was great! It looked like a lot are regulars spend birthdays and parties here.... The dance floor was just enough in space... but when the night almost hit midnight , people were loud , shuffling and strutting. As if everybody knew each other! Luckily, they offer a 15 credit for food, probably cause even the hotel management know that their food isn't worth what they're charging. Highly recommend not ordering the eggs Benedict, as the eggs I received were not poached long enough at all and the underdone mess was hidden under the sauce. This was the perfect venue to meet up with friends we had not seen in 3 years because of COVID. Before being seated, proof of vaccination is requested. This was unexpected since there are no notices even when we made the reservation. We didn't mind but it would have been nice to know in advance. Luckily we bring these as a habit now. Though it had a lot of patrons, tables were spaced so we felt safe. We started with Calamari & a Crab & Artichoke Dip. Calamari was wrapped in crispy but not too thick batter. The dip was paired with focaccia. It was served hot & was super creamy. The Prime Rib Special was too good to pass up so we all ordered that. It was a 3 course meal: house or Caesar Salad, Prime Rib & Cheesecake for $29.99. Their house red wine was a perfect pair to this. By the time we were enjoying our steaks, a live band performed. I ordered a greek salad which had barely feta cheese. The olives we actually pretty nasty (I am not a huge fan of olives so please dont pay much attention to this detail lol) Ambience: very quiet and mostly empty. The restaurant is inside the hotel. Myself, mom and stepdad went to listen to this band Patron Latin Rhythms at Bistro 880 on Wednesday Nov. 22, 2023. Wow they were awesome and sounded spectacular! They played a medley of different songs. There wasn't a single song that wasn't liked. They had the dance floor jamming. As for the Bistro 880 it self. Our waitress was very accommodating, friendly and fun. She laughed with us and danced with us by our table. The establishment was clean, everyone was running like a well oiled machine. My complaints are, the bathroom only has 3 stalls for such a decent sized venue. Didn't realize you needed reservations, so we were lucky to get a table. The menu is very limited and basic for how the Bistro presented itself. The food is also basic and extremely over priced. My Bistro Club was $17-18 and had two thin slices of turkey meat, hella lettuce, a slice of cheese and tomato, which I did not request. The second part of the stacked club was just bread with lettuce nothing else. The mayo and mustard was on the side so that turned me off. I didn't bother using it because the sandwich would have fallen apart. So I ate a dry, lack luster sandwich. Any sandwich shop locally is tremendously better, meatier and cheaper. Which also comes with chips and a drink included and condiments inside the sandwich. So in conclusion, make reservations, eat before you go or bring a lot of money with you, expect to wait in a long line to use the bathroom. Other than that, you will have fun if the band is good. What a weird experience. I don't know if it's suppose to be a fancy dinner experience, a night club, or a brothel. I feel like we got a bit of all. As far as the food...the spaghetti and meatballs was bland. Even the cheese in the meatball couldn't save it from being an under seasoned ball of ground meat. As for the fettuccine alfredo, never had one I wouldn't eat again until tonight. The noodles were cooked fine. The Alfredo sauce was so thinned out it couldn't coat a noodle with any type of flavor as you would expect. The sauce remained in the bowl as almost a soup. I have never had chicken so dry. Like even Applebees beats this chicken Alfredo, by a landslide. We also ordered a steak, medium rare. It arrived medium well. When I went to find our waitress to let her know she said she would come by. Immediately upon coming to the table without looking at the steak she said it was medium rare. I encouraged her to look by showing her the meat and she said ok. She ended up bringing another steak that was RARE. Like mooing rare.
