I haven't been to Strizzi's in years, so when my mom wanted Italian food, we ended up going here. The restaurant has a great ambiance. It was bright but cozy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The only downside was that the service was pretty slow. We got seated quickly, but there were only two servers, so it took a while to place and receive our orders. I enjoyed both the rigatoni bolognese and tiramisu. The food and dessert were fresh, and they tasted great. The noodles were al dente, and the sauce was creamy. I like adding red pepper flakes to my pasta to add a bit of heat. Moreover, I was surprised how big the tiramisu was. It was sweet but not too overpowering. However, I wish there were more coffee flavor. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Strizzi's. I ordered the grilled chicken off the lunch special and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was clearly cooked on a wood-fired grill, with a nice smoky flavor and good char. It was firm but not overcooked--still moist and juicy. The plate came with mixed vegetables (zucchini, peppers, and onions) that were well prepared, along with mashed potatoes that were done nicely. They had a rich garlic-butter flavor without being overpowering. The portion size was just right for lunch--filling without being too heavy. Strizzi's is a solid spot for a cozy Italian meal! It's a smaller restaurant, but it has a modern and comfortable vibe that makes it perfect for a date night or a casual dinner. Tons of parking in the area too, which is always a plus. The pasta selection is so good -- lots of variety, and everything tastes super fresh. We came here last week for my daughter's birthday. At first glance it looks like a chain restaurant, which it sort of is, with a lot of tables and bright lights and noisy. But fortunately we were seated in a more secluded area away from the main entrance. Service was good, pleasant but nothing that stood out. Maybe we were just engaged in conversation to notice. But I will say the food was delicious.! I had the Shrimp Pappardelle which was seasoned with garlic and artichokes. My daughters had the Chicken Parmesan, which was also delicious, served in a light tomato marinara with a side of Rigatoni Bolognese. For dessert we had the tiramisu and strawberry sundae. Anytime I want to take an out of town guest out for a nice dinner, I come here. Not Papillon, here. The food is so good, it's like a warm, comforting hug from your grandma. And I'm a difficult client when it comes to Italian food, but this restaurant definitely meets my expectations. For example, I never order lasagna at a restaurant, but this is hands down the best lasagna I've ever ordered. The same goes for the bread pudding and Dulce de leche cake. Their warm brown sugar sauce is to die for. Every dish is made to order; handcrafted and sure to delight. So be patient when ordering. They have AMAZING weekly specials which aren't on their menu. So keep checking in on what's they're serving. One thing I wouldn't order is the burger, but that's kind of a given because this is an Italian restaurant. This place deserves more stars. I come here for special family lunches and just did a dinner with girlfriends. Honestly the ambience is really cozy and the 2-6pm specials is an excellent value! Free salad or soup and discounted dessert. The servers are always friendly. I need to come here more. The food was wonderful too. Didn't take pics of all, but sausage pasta looked good. A photo has been attached for reference, with toothpicks next to it to illustrate the size. Unfortunately, Strizzi's has had to increase the cost of their food like so many others these days. Nice clean setup when you walk in with the bar on one side with tv's. Would have been 5 stars but when we walked in we weren't greeted for awhile and were just standing there wondering if we seat ourselves. The girls looked lil busy but instead of tell us they will be right there they just acted like they didn't see us. We got there around 3pm for late lunch on Saturday, for sat there was total of 6 ppl in their including me and my friend, this was a + for us as it was quite and chill vibe as we wanted to catch up. This time it was flipped where the bolognese did not have much flavor and the sausage pappardelle was great. I have been coming here on and off for over 15 years. It used to be a 2nd date spot for most of my younger years and now I bring my 2 lil girls here for special occasions like Mother's Day or mom-daughter time. In my last 2 visits on Friday evenings, we have had the same server. She was nice the first time and I am a generous tipper. I don't tip under 25% at any time even for the most basic service. It's important that people who are working hard get remunerated well. Unfortunately, though I have been disheartened and disappointed by the service today.. actually there was no service today. We were seated at a booth, our server stopped by the tables next to ours and across from us. There was no doubt that she saw us seated. She didn't bother to even acknowledge that we existed. She didn't bother to even take our order- forget about serving us water. After waiting patiently for over 25 mins and watching our server walk by repeatedly with no intention to serve us, I requested the hostess to help us. Finally another server came by to take our order. I don't know if the server was being racist or just didn't want to serve a customer with kids but it was truly the worst experience of my life. I have dinner with my girls every Friday as a tradition now and this experience has made me never want to come back here. I don't wish anyone to lose their job so won't mention any names but I hope this doesn't happen again to another customer. read more

Having a place that serves up good Italian eats nearby is a treat. Had a hard time deciding on what I could eat being gluten free. Ended up going with the garlic fries. So delicious! Would order a double order next time since the two of us devoured them. Had an alcohol free mojito which was refreshing. The main dishes were shrimp and artichoke with gluten free penne pasta. Very tasty. The fettuccine Alfredo was also tasty and satisfying. Portions were good. Service was good considering it was busy. We enjoyed being served by the BART crisis center police. Service was just not it! (Reason for less stars) Called before arriving to hear the dessert options as they weren't online...and was on hold for over 10 minutes. Came in and kind of just stood around waiting to be helped or ordered. Waiter finally came over and just started grabbing menus, no hellos or welcomes. I then told him that we wanted to order to go. He was just so dry (only way I could describe the interaction). His supervisor ended up coming over to help afterwards (thank you for that). Pesto cheese bread is AMAZING! We tried to have lunch at this restaurant last Sunday. The weather was nice outside so we requested to sit there. All the tables were empty. The employee said she couldn't seat us outside because "a lot of people have been out there and the tables needed to be wiped off". The restaurant had been opened for less than an hour. When we arrived, there was a slight confusion about our reservation as they could not find it at first and then turns out we were the only reservation. We were seated after the mix-up was cleared. Food: We ordered the fries and meatballs to share. The fries were good. My coworkers thought the meatballs were just okay. I ordered the mushroom ravioli for lunch and a side of mashed potatoes. The ravioli was good as were the mashed potatoes. The ravioli was in a deliciously creamy sauce and the portion was generous. For dessert, I ordered the seasonal bread pudding. It was burnt on top and the sugar had crystallized. It was okay. Service: The service here is sadly lacking, hence the 3 stars. My coworkers had ordered soup starters. The server brought one less than needed and said they would come back with the rest. The server never came back on their own. We asked about the missing soup, and they were confused as how there was one more soup order. They did bring the soup out. When we arrived, we were the only party there yet it took a long time for anyone to greet us and for our drinks to come out. The food did come out in a timely manner. For a Friday night they close pretty early. My husband and I decided to take the kids out for dinner somewhere nice with sit down service. We've wanted to go here for some time and thought it was more a diner setting than fancy restaurant. Nonetheless we stayed and really enjoyed the service. We got the drinks and appetizers ordered and they came out pretty fast. The server did an awesome job even though we had a lot of requests. Appetizer: Fried zucchini were pretty thick on the zucchini but still crunchy. They were a bit under seasoned but the ranch helped with the flavor. Light combo dinner: I decided to go with combo dinner got clam chowder to start and pesto chicken for the light dinner. Clam chowder was under seasoned, some crackers could have helped it. The pesto was really flavorful but the chicken was underwhelming. Felt like they boiled it in unseasoned water and just threw it on the pasta with no seasoning. The sauce was really good just not enough to help the chicken. Kids pizza: got two of them for the kids and you really can't mess that up. Look Cooked well and the kids finished them. Chicken Alfredo: the sauce was amazing but the chicken very very bland. Wish they would grill it on its on and season it better.
