I always have the breakfast here when I stay for work. Love the staff in the morning. Many of them have been there for years. I come a couple of times a year for a week. The staff recognizes faces and is very welcoming, good to see you! You have to go to the egg station they all do a great job and tastes great but don't forget to tip them. They reduced the cereal choices last time. No more honey nut Cheerios in the container just the bulk cereal, probably cost cutting. They keep everything very clean. read more

Oaky my first time eating downstairs for dinner. They shut the lounge down due to this thing called COVID 19, WTF, didn't want to eat out so trying downstairs for dinner. Ordered the Chicken and Veggies over rice ( only on the room service menu ) and an Estella, no change in my take on the food. Extra Star for dinner waitress for giving me the room service dish in the dining room, funny can't understand why that is a big deal, but the perfect balanced and healthy meal, well at least it sounds a healthy, yeah good too. Okay is 4 stars is really good! Don't forget his is a Marriott restaurant as just what you get in a hotel restaurant. As a platinum elite it's free, so even better, if you got to pay, probably 3 stars! I stay here weekly, staff like cheers, knows what I want to drink, how much and where I want to sit, omelet lady knows what I want and gets it going when she sees me. It is typical breakfast; eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, extensive bread, bagels, best thing got salmon, capers If you are a health nut got three bland fruits: pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew ( never great but passable ). Service: 9/10 for breakfast; attentive (almost to a fault), ensured waters and coffee were full, lots of staff roaming the dining hall. Value: 2/10; The food was okay, it'll fill you up (you'll want to fill up, for the prices they charge). The breakfast buffet is $26 not including tip. The fare is pretty standard for similar Marriott properties so I felt overcharged and underwhelmed. Like a legit scam victim. Symptom of the property's corporate target market with generous expense accounts. Made-to-order omelets looked okay, reconstituted egg products, various meat options for the "full buffet" or standard cereals, oatmeal, and muffins for the continental buffet (at about $12-$15/person). I cannot eat enough eggs, meat, and cereals to justify the price. I'd be sick. I already feel a bit sick to my stomach upon reflection. The hotel rooms do not have microwaves so the aim is to get guests to go to the restaurant to eat. This is a hotel restaurant, so it's a little pricier (especially for breakfast or brunch) than some alternatives a freeway exit or two away. That said, the food here is actually quite good and the service is excellent. Adjacent to the lobby, this large, well-appointed dining room is conveniently located near the main entrance to the hotel, features plenty of natural light, and can typically seat any sized party without a long wait. In addition to the bar, there are a couple of strategically placed clusters of large screen TVs scattered around the main dining room enabling diners to watch their favorite sports team if they wish. More importantly, there is plenty of seating for those who would rather not be bludgeoned with television while dining. We watched San Jose State beat the University of New Mexico Lobos last Saturday night (October 4) at the bar. Our bartender (I think his badge said, "Jeff," but I think he goes by "Jay") took great care of us while we sipped wine by the glass and noshed on a Wedge Salad, Flatbed Pizza dish and a wonderful Edamame and Firecracker Shrimp appetizer. There was so much food we didn't finish off the salad until the next day for lunch. The flatbread item was tasty enough, albeit unexceptional, but the firecracker shrimp was spicy (like God intended) and the edamame was grilled in a soy-based sauce that added a lot to this traditional Japanese snack. And the Wedge Salad was as good as any I've had anywhere -- nearly half a head of iceberg lettuce dressed with plenty of blue cheese and featuring fresh tomatoes and a ton of bacon chunks. Breakfast features all of the menu items one would expect, as well as, an excellent self-serve continental breakfast which includes a variety of cereals, breads and pastries. The commercial bakery mini-bagels are soso, but there is an excellent selection of fresh tomatoes, sliced onion, lox, capers and cream cheese to dress them to taste. On weekends, guests can opt for the buffet which features made-to-order omelettes, scrambled eggs, bacon, a couple of sausage options, country fried potatoes, and fresh fruit and anything from the Continental Breakfast Bar. Unlimited fresh juices and coffee (and/or tea, milk, etc.) are included and served at the table. The brunch buffet also includes either pancakes or waffles, but they don't fare well on the steam table and tend to either dry out or get too cold to melt butter on them. What a difference a year makes! The breakfast at the hotel is still free for guests who "ask" the hotel front desk. Gone was the manager from my last review who gave me attitude when I requested a box so that I could take food up to my wife who was still in bed. My daughter and I walked into the restaurant and were greeted with big smiles from the staff. When we asked for a box, they asked me how many boxes I wanted. The breakfast buffet was even more impressive than my last visit. In addition to the omelet station, they added a pancake and waffle station where the chefs will cook the pancakes and waffles for you. They still had the chicken and pork sausages, roasted fingerling potatoes, fresh fruit, cereals, breads, smoked salmon and oatmeal. No more lukewarm food like last year. All the foods were hot and delicious. Service was great! They seated us immediately when we came back down from delivering food to my wife. The daughter and I were greeted by Executive Chef Tom. Chef Tom was great! He found out it was my wife's birthday. While my daughter and I were eating, he sent a cake up to my room. My wife who was not expecting room service did not want to open the door to accept her gift from Chef Tom. What a surprise. The hotel upgraded us to the Concierge level, where they also have a concierge room with hot breakfast and hors d'oeuvres for at dinner. My wife and daughter loved the Chicken cacchiatore and beef stew that they offered as hors d'oeuvres. It wasn't until I met Chef Tom that he told me that he cooked all the hors d'oeuvres for the concierge room. The difference is obvious. No more cold food. Food was good! Server are nice and have a great attitude. Chef Tom has done a tremendous job at making the restaurant great as in their name. read more

Hotel fine dining done right. We love The Great Room located at the Fremont Marriott. We come once a year, and the menu is different each year. But you can always count on the staples of fine dining prepared beautifully. My husband ordered the avocado cheeseburger and it was cooked to perfection. I ordered the chimichurri skirt steak. My medium rare was exactly how I ordered it and I loved the pairing of mashed butternut squash. I try to limit my potato intake, so this was a nice touch. I am not an asparagus fan, but I ate a few of them. I would have prefered green beans. We started our meals with caesar salads and they were very delicious. Our server Sher, was such a delight. Charming personality and really made sure we had a romantic night. She was a stellar photographer and had fun making sure she captured the perfect photo of my date night. I decided to grab a bite to eat here while enjoying my stay at the Marriott. I ordered the fried calamari ($15) as my appetizer. It was very delicious and tasted good with the sauces they served it with. For my entrée, I ordered the Grilled Maine Shrimp and Scallop Linguine Scampi ($25). This was a delightful combination of flavors. The scallops really melted in my mouth. And the softness of the pasta and seafood combined with the crisp bread created a lovely balance of textures. I only have 2 complaints. I think it is a bit pricey for what you get. Also, my glass was empty several times and I got so thirsty at one point I was going to walk over to the lobby to grab some water. Overall, decent restaurant. read more

Covid hit this place hard and it's trying to make a comeback to the good old days. Although service is slow, they try their best and the new Chef is working hard and delivers good food. The bartender is also working her butt off to not only serve drinks but food too! Hopefully management hires more staff soon to help. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

The food at the GreatRoom in the Marriott is pretty decent, some of the dishes better than the others. For lunch I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich for $15 with a side of fries. The sandwich was pretty tasty - chicken breast, with pesto, arugula in ciabatta bread. Fries are thin and crispy, the way I like them. However, spending $17 for both is quite expensive for lunch. A drink does not come with that. I also ordered the flourless chocolate cake served with ice cream. OMG, it was amazing, but goodness, it was like $10. It was delicious, but goodness, that's too much for dessert. The other two meals I ate were catered by the GreatRoom for the conference I was attending. The first day, was chinese food selection. Let me tell you, they were "chinese" dishes, but totally did NOT have the asian zing to them. Totally americanized. Their "lo mein" salad was pretty tasty though. For the second day, it was more of a prep-your-own-sandwich theme. There was an assortment of ham, tuna, turkey, cheese selection. There was an amazing chicken pasta salad that I really enjoyed. I also tried this delicious corn chowder. From those 2 catered meals, I enjoyed the chicken pasta salad and corn chowder the best. I also partook in some happy hour libations at the GreatRoom's bar. I ordered rum/pineapple/oj for only $5. I think that's the cheapest order I placed at the GreatRoom. Haha The waitstaff was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. If the food wasn't so expensive, I'd probably give GreatRoom another star. However, since the food was not exceptional or outstanding at such a high price, I give it 3 stars. Took the husb and the kiddo here on Father's Day for lunch - made a reservation, but it was unnecessary(I suppose Mother's Day would have been more popular). The room is well-appointed with lush chairs and seating. It is right next to the lobby with minimal seclusion, so it all kind of bleeds together - which might be strange to some. The food was very good - and had the price tags to match. We were not disappointed with anything we ordered. Service was on the slow side of normal. Our waitress was knowledgable of the menu - a plus! But forgetful of what was ordered... She was definitely on top of drink refills, that's for sure - never had to ask. Considering there are not many options for breakfast/brunch in South Fremont, this place is good. It's within the Marriott hotel so except prices to be a little higher than if you went to a standalone breakfast/brunch place. I can here with a big group for a team meal and they were very accommodating. I arrived a little earlier than the rest of my team and the table was already prepared for us so they seated me early and got my drinks squared away. They offer the buffet or the individual meal options. Considering of the prices, I opted for the buffet option because it was more "bang for your buck." They have a omelet bar which was cool. I really liked that you fill out a paper slip with what you want in your omelet and you put your name so the chef doesn't have to remember who ordered what (could be very difficult when the line gets long and people leave to get other food). Aside from the omelet bar, there were a good amount of options. They had the standard scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, french toast, fruit, toasts, cereals. Nothing really stood out with any of these flavor-wise. What I was pleasantly surprised to see what a lox station. That's something I don't usually see at any hotel breakfast place so that was very cool. Service and ambiance were nice and relaxing. read more

We came from LA and had breakfast at the hotels restaurant The great room as we sat to enjoy our food I noticed one serverDANY, he wasn't our server but he OWNED the place, he was on fire!!! He treated each of his tables as if they were his friends at his home! As we sat there for about an hour he was non stop! He smiled and took such care of his guests that I had no choice but to call him over and congratulate him on how amazing his service was! I also spoke to the manager, ah the manager!! Mr Aziz! He also was so so friendly and so professional! The whole experience at this Marriott has been so so amazing! Worst calamari Ive ever had in my life! Didnt even come in rings, they were flattened sticks of fried stuff in rancid oil. We all stared at it in disbelief when it arrived. After one bite, my friend put the whole plate on another table because it stank so bad. 40 minutes later, our food finalllly arrived and everything sucked. None of us cld finish our meal.
