Honest review: pretty good! Compared to all the hot chicken places popping up these days, Angry Chickz is on par with Dave's in my opinion, but might I say: it could be even better than Dave's. Stopped in for a quick bite before heading up to the city to catch a Warriors game, and there were a handful of people dining in. This location took over the old Pieology, and there was plenty of seating. I really liked the Fremont-centered decor on the walls; that's one way to connect with the local community! Given it was an early dinner, the two of us shared a #1 which consisted of 2 sliders and fries, and we tacked on an additional side of Mac and cheese to try it out. Chicken was meaty, not too dry, and well-seasoned without overdoing it. The Mac was also pretty good, and the fries were also seasoned, but nothing too special. The food took longer than I expected to be prepared, but we were kind of pressed for time so on a regular day it wouldn't have been too big a deal. read more

I show her my order and she reaches over and grabs it confused, holds it while she has a conversation with her co worker and then just slides it across the table without saying a single word. Arrived at opening , this is angry Chickz Fremont location. It used to be a pizza joint. I was surprised how dead this place looked on the inside and outside . I came in wondering and was pretty much sure they had shakes like their competitor DAVES HOT CHICKEN. When I asked they said no they don't have any shakes on their menu . I was kinda shocked. They copy everything DHC has but lack shakes. Barely anyone here on a Friday but it was still early. A couple of pick up orders. Service was attentive and cheerful. The spice level is a bit tricky and they warn you after you choose though. Price is fair but I don't like how they charge for an extra dipping sauce. I felt bad for those dining in because everyone waiting for their order was standing wherever there was an open spot even if it's inches from a diner. I love the Country because you can really taste the chicken. The Hot was burning, and the Medium was perfect for giving you a good kick without burning your throat. The coleslaw and pickles on the sliders were tangy and crunchy. The toast was really good, but the buns on the sliders got a little smashed. The fries were seasoned well and was very good. The place was packed and loud, but that was a given since they just opened. My friend and I managed to snag a table as other customers were leaving. The fall of a newly open restaurant is imminent if not ran correctly, The wait for food is excessive. Cleaning supplies littered around the mobile pickup area when they should be in a janitor closet. The employees looking stressed. When this place first opened, the kitchen and the front was bustling with many employees, giving a Jollibee vibe of teamwork and quickness! Went during opening day and it was super busy. However the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Hangry fix and the Angry Mac and both were *chefs kiss* . Went to the Grand Opening Day of Angry Chickz! I'm glad that it came to my hometown because I had to commute to San Jose just to try this establishment for the first time! The line was really long when I got there. It took me 1-2 hours to get to the where they take our orders and it was really hot especially standing for long hours and thankfully there are trees for us to get some shade. After I took my order, the line got shorter and the staff had us wait at the sidewalk. I guess the hype got built up when they were doing a grand opening ceremony and that the first 100 people gets a free Angry Chickz shirt I think if I recall. I want to try something different than just the chicken sliders, tenders, and fries in one box. I wanted to get the Angry Mac because it's basically smashing fries, mac and cheese, and chicken tenders drizzled with sauce in one bowl. Honestly it's really good and it reflects what I saw on the advertisement. I see you Angry Chickz, I see you. I was actually gettin' a bit fatigued from all these spicy chicken places opening up in the last 5 years. Kinda like the poke craze of the 2000teens. There's at least 6 in my area and there's several food trucks with this concept as well. But I literally walked past this one evening so I gave it a whirl. I gotta say I was digging it. Super minimalist menu all white meat chickie tenders, lightly coated in a seasoned flour dredge. Very subtle crunch, no hard crackling. Then it gets dusted in a spicy dry seasoning on choice of multiple levels of heats. I'm not a hot head but if you are this seems like a place to make yer mouth and sweat glands zing with zest. #3 Classic ($14/4*) This is basically 2 monster fried chicken tenders atop some buttery toast and served with fries. The Chicken: for some reason their 'tenders' are super large, like triple the size of the tenders from Cain's which is another exclusively tenders shop. But to their credit their tenders do remain tender and not tough like I thought. And their coating/exterior is so flavorful from salt and spices that the thick meat really absorbs the blow quite nicely. I tried their 'medium' heat level and it was perfect for me. Slight heat without any harsh stinging or sweating. I won't even venture to any other level, no need for my sake. The toast is super thick and soft. Good chew too so not that paste-y Wonder Bread type. It has a slight toast and is very buttery, almost saturated. Maybe a hint of garlic too. I really liked this and I usually don't like most breads from fast food setups. I think different people will eat this in their own ways. Some may eat this like a sandwich and some may go back and forth on eating the tenders and toast. There's also dill pickle chips on top of the chicken and I loved the punchy acidity to go with the bites of chicken and toast. Imma actually gonna ask for extra pickles next time. Trust. The fries are super crisp and coated in that spicy dry spice. Very flavorful with salt and red spices. It is actually too salty for me as I only ate half the fries. Hangry Fix Bowl ($15/4.5*) This is an awesome one bowl stop. You get both a creamy Mac n cheese, some buttered rice, some coleslaw for crunch and I believe just 1 big tender chopped up in small pieces. It filled me up just fine but for bigger appetites, you may need a meal with 2 tenders. This was perfect for me. But to have all these diverse bites from creamy n cheesey to crunchy and tangy to meaty and spicy is just a ride I can do over and over again. I also love how they just have 1 size drink and it isn't a monster size and it is only $2 extra to complete your meal. Service has always been decent, people clean tables and if it's busy in there, they'll give you an estimate on your waiting time so you can make a decision if it is doable for you. I Have been to Angry Chickz twice and dashed it once. Service is super slow at times and the lines can be long. Chicken is definitely spicy with a lasting burn. I'm quite a fried chicken fan, especially if it's hot chicken in question. So, I was really excited to hear about an Angry Chickz opening close to home. The store was sparkling clean and still had the "new" feel to it when I visited about a month back. The interiors are pretty nice and I would have liked to dine-in, but it was one of those rare hot days in the Bay area and the store did not have air-conditioning, so I ordered my food to-go. I order the classic combo #3 which comprises one slider, one tender over a slice of bread, and fries, and chose my heat level as "hot". I like spicy food and have a good tolerance for spice, so I generally go with "hot" at a new place and then decide if I should go for "extra-hot" on my next visit. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes, and I was home in another 10 minutes ready to devour my hot chicken. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as great as I had hoped. It was a decent meal - fresh soft chicken, well seasoned fries. The heat was also on point. But overall, the chicken lacked flavor for me. There was something about the spice rub that just didn't hit the spot. You know that addictive feeling you get when you feel a little guilty for having something not great for your body but still can't stop - I associate that feeling with several hot chicken places, but it was missing here. This review is specifically about the customer service. My father is elderly, and I placed an online pickup order for him under my name directly through the restaurant's website, not through DoorDash or Uber Eats. When he arrived to pick up the order, the girl at the register refused to give him the food without showing a receipt. After making things difficult, she finally said, "I'll give it this time, but not next time." There is nothing stated on the website saying a receipt is required for pickup orders. He had the correct name and order information, and instead of treating him with suspicion, there should have been more respect and professionalism shown toward an older customer. If there was truly concern, the staff could have easily called the phone number attached to the order to verify it. Unfortunately, this was enough for me to decide it'll be my first and last time ordering here. Reading through other reviews, it seems there are clear inconsistencies with both staff and management. We got the 2 slider + fries combo which for $17 is honestly not a bad deal bc the sliders are almost the size as full size sandwiches! I initially asked for the "hot" sauce but the young man taking my order suggested I go with the medium on my first visit. Although he did offer me a sample of the hot sauce if I wanted to taste it. I declined the sample and elected to take his advice and went with the medium...and it was delicious. The fries came with a Cajun seasoning which complimented the chicken perfectly. Angry Chickz is finally in Fremont! They took over The Kebab Shop spot on the corner of Paseo Padre and Walnut Ave. Plenty of parking shared with Raley's. When I arrived there was a line almost out the door but it moved very quickly. Food wait time was a bit long though. There are few table inside but you can find more seating outside. I always order Angry Chickz bowls since the tenders are chopped and it comes with slaw and starch differs by what you choose. The macaroni was not very cheesy, but got spicy because of the spicy chicken. Chicken was flavorful and covered with spicy sauce (your spice level sauce of choice). Solid 8/10 from me. The Angry Sauce was delicious -- kind of like a thousand island, but it really helped mellow the heat and tie all the flavors together. Everyone was very friendly, answering questions I had and providing excellent service, even bringing the food to our table. One staff even checked in on us to see how we were doing, which I appreciated. As for the place itself. It was a neat looking place. Nice seating arrangement. It was a little dirty, but I did see employees cleaning while we were eating, so I believe any spot that was dirty was from a customer who had just finished eating. Finally, the food. I ordered the #2 for myself because it reminded me of the Raising Cane's combos, but this was much better. The fries were nice and crispy, and the chicken was well-seasoned and juicy. It didn't need sauce to be delicious, which for me is really important to me when reviewing chicken, though the sauce was good, too. All of this plus the 2 slices of Texas toast, I was satisfied and made this one of my favorite chicken shops to eat at! I really wanted to like this location, but unfortunately I've been consistently disappointed. I used to go to the Vallejo location (which is far superior, by the way), and they always get everything right -- perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and generous portions every time. At this location, it's a completely different experience. Every time I order the Angry Mac bowl, they barely put any mac and cheese in it, which defeats the whole purpose of calling it a "Mac bowl." The portions are noticeably smaller compared to Vallejo. The chicken is also consistently overcooked here -- dry on the inside, somehow soggy on the outside instead of crispy, and the seasoning is often off. Since I know how good this dish can be from the Vallejo location, I know it's not the recipe -- it's the execution at this specific location. There seems to be a management or consistency issue in the kitchen because the quality is just not there. My review is for two separate orders: 1. Online (Jan 16): I had ordered #1 Two hot chicken sliders with slaw, pickles, and fries. One slider mild and the other medium. 2. Dine-in(Jan 23): ordered the #1 again but this time one mild and the other Hot. It is definitely better to enjoy the meal dining in rather than take out. By the time I ate the online order it was a bit soggy. However, dine-in was really good. The chicken is really flavorful and I like their sauce. When it comes for spice they ain't kidding. I thought I can handle hot and it was fire alarm on my lips haha. The cashier was really sweet she came to check on me as I was not looking that good. Didn't realize they use ghost peppers for heat. Gulp! Anyway, She gave me soda and that helped to cool down the heat for a bit. Phew! The fries are really nice too. They go really well with the sauce. Overall a good fast food place.
