One thing I was kind of disappointed was that they charge you for bottled water and have no tap water available for free. This place is right next to the newly opened Chi Cha San Chen in Pacific Commons so it's hard to miss. [[ Vibes ]] I think this place should work on the first impressions you get when you walk in. Ordering is easy through the kiosk but someone can take your order as well. The inside of the place has a table or two but otherwise it seems like mostly a to-go place. I was running errands around this part of town and I was in need of some protein!! LOL surrounded by mostly boba shops I decided to give this spot a try. To start with, if we could give half stars, I would totally give this place a 2.5 but I just rounded up for the service. Let's get into it. We were needing to find some lunch post Costco shopping so I've seen ABC Chicken on my Yelp feed for a while so we decided to try it out. L O C A T I O N ABC Chicken is located in the same plaza as Pearl Bay but closer to Tamper Room kind of in the same building as Ichibox. There's parking shared by all the places here but we just got a spot as someone was coming out. It's really rough to get parking especially during prime eating times. So you can park further or just add additional time if you're meeting up with someone or picking up food. I N S I D E It's not a very big place. There's a couple larger long tables along two sides and a couple smaller tables near the windows. At least of folks who dropped by today, everyone was taking their food to-go. M E N U We wish that they had some kind of menu posted on the windows outside or just hanging somewhere so you can easily look at a menu, but they force you to use the online ordering link to view their menu. They have combos but it's hard to know what's in the combos unless you look into each item. I just wish they had a combo where you can just add like half order of fries or something. Well we got the Crispy Chicken Leg Burger, Crispy Cod Burger and Fries. ~ Crispy Chicken Leg Burger - $9.99 ~ It was definitely crispy. The breading and seasoning on the breading was on point. The chicken was moist, but they folded over the chicken which wish they didn't and just left if flat and breaded it that way because then the chicken to breading ratio would be better. It was kind of pink which I was a little concerned about. Hopefully I don't regret eating this. The meat was a bit stringy, but I think that may be the cut of meat. The odd thing was that the bread tasted sweet. Like a sweet brioche? It was a bit off putting. You get shredded lettuce on top plus a mayo ketchup mixture spread. ~ Crispy Cod Burger - $10.59 ~ Basically two fish fillets side by side and if you take it non-spicy, the ketchup mayo mix is what they add as a topping which was slathered a little too haphazardly and too much in my opinion. It also has a cheddar cheese slice on top. Again the bun was sweet. Just not my cup of tea. The cheese was welcomed. The fish was okay. Just felt like it was a fish filet from Costco that was fried. ~ Fries - $5.49 ~ We were a bit shocked to see the prices for the fries and waffle fries. I figured, it might be plentiful or not, it should be the best fries I've ever had. Well it was more plentiful than good unfortunately. It was a little soggy and not crisp. Well not all were soggy but I wish they were better fried. There was a whole lot of fries and much more than is necessary if you were going to just have fries with a burger. Between the two of us, we barely finished it all. I would've rather paid half the price for half the price for better cooked fries. I'm unsure why they have to cook that much for an order but I'm sure there's a reason. S E R V I C E The person at the counter was very nice and helped with questions we had as well as packed away our food and letting us know which sandwich was which. We ordered at the one kiosk at the front and easily paid by credit card. O V E R A L L I don't think we'll be back for fries, or either of their burgers. I would consider trying out their popcorn chicken as I would hope it's the same breading as their chicken and maybe a better ratio of chicken to breading. But otherwise, I've just had better fried chicken sandwiches nearby. Although the breading was good, everything else about the sandwich including the bun which I was surprised I'd have an issue with. Before I ordered the Peking style chicken wrap, I asked what type of wrap they use, is it tortilla wrap or Chinese scallion wrap, she confirmed that they use the scallions wrap, but it's not, the wrap is just tortillas wrap, wonder why it was called Peking style wrap? It looks like they kinda took over a spot that had a dining area, but when I went a big section was blocked off and the only part accessible was this front area with an order kiosk and maybe a table or 2. So it definitely seems more like a take-away place now. Menu straight forward, a lot of fried chicken sandwiches with many variations. You can get white meat, dark meat, spicy or not. There's popcorn chicken, wings and maybe a few other things fried like fries and fried mozzarella. I call this 'teeny food'. Lol Garlic Chicken Wings ($11/4*) You get about 6 wing flats but they are HUGE wing flats. And crazy juicy too, that if you bite into one right away, you may get scalded from hot juice. I'd let these sit for at least 5 minutes. Great fry with a unique coating, kinda a cross between American breading and Chinese breading. I was digging it. Just not sure if I was digging the 'garlic' part as it seemed more in a marinade than it was on the exterior, which I prefer. They also have wings in other flavors like Hot n Spicy and Cajun Sauced. Popcorn Chicken ($7/4.5*) These were some of the best popcorn chicken I've ever tried. I'm pretty sure it was dark meat as it was pretty darn juicy, but I really can't recall. The breading was similar to the wings, slight crunch without being crazy crispy and perfectly seasoned. I just wished that they would have been some fried basil as to me that really elevates popcorn chicken from regular status to special status. Note to kitchen brass: please please add fried basil to this! Still haven't tried any of the sandwiches but I've seen enough that I do wanna try. Saw their spot open up a few days ago while I was searching Yelp and read it was better than KFC. I TOTALLY AGREE. My love for the Snack Wrap will live on in my heart, but their Chicken Wrap easily replaces it and I'm here for it. We got the Mexican and Peking versions and the difference was the Peking had Lettuce and Pickles while the Mexican had pickled Cucumbers (Liked this one a lot) Please eat the fries and hashbrown ON THE SPOT, they deserve to be eaten in all its glory. I was recommended by my friend who came here before. I am very impressed by the flavor because it reminded me of the kfc chicken and burgers that I tried in Asia. Spicy chicken burger is super moist and tender but crispy on the outside. So much better than McDonald burger or kfc. However, there is a QR code to order online and view the menu. There's an ordering screen so you know when your number will be called. My partner and I ordered 2 Peking style wraps, spicy chicken leg burger, and potato waffle. The Peking style wrap was good, it can feed one person alone. The chicken is really crispy, the sauce was a bit spicy but tasted great :) The spicy chicken leg burger wasn't bad, not as spicy compared to the wrap. I would compare it to the Jollibee chicken sandwich, but bigger and crispier. The potato waffle for me needed some more flavor, but my partner said it was great to him. With a location so close to Chick Fil A, ABC Chicken is taking a gigantic gamble. Although it may not be as packed, their sandwich is better. This was love at first bite. They even have 3 levels of spiciness, something you just don't find anywhere else. I got the spiciest and I definitely felt the heat. It hits every note. Soft brioche bun, sweet tangy sauce and a juicy chicken thigh. Perfectly balanced and they even shred the lettuce which gave the perfect texture.
