Came in the morning of new year's day and they were busy as expected. Nevertheless they were able to accommodate our large group. I got the bacon avocado eggs benedict (5/5) and this was SO GOOD!!! They don't skimp on the avocado or the bacon, and everything was cooked very well. The potatoes were basic but no complaints. The chicken and waffles (3.5/5) could be bigger. I'm not sure what was wrong with them but the texture was weirdly chewy, maybe under cooked? The Benedict was more edible, but the eggs were over cooked and barely runny. My husband and I recently ate at this IHOP in Newark, California. Although there weren't many people working there, the staff immediately came to greet me & my husband, they sat us at a table took our order, got it right, and our food was very good. A lot of the IHOPs have been having trouble, especially with staffing and, I don't know what IHOP needs to do to get better people working for them, but I hope that this IHOP continues to keep up the good service and quality level of food!! read more

My first visit to this location- Inviting and clean. Our host was friendly. We waited 10 minutes for our table but it was definitely worth the wait. Our server Guillermo is amazing, he was busy but met our every need. I observed him being pleasant and polite to his guests. My spinach omelette, which I modified, was perfect. We also ordered the avocado toast and waffle with spicy chicken, which were very tasty. Needless to say the coffee was nice and hot, with our refills being met. Purely a take out review, on weekends with a little one patience is not in our vocabulary so take out it is! This is our 3rd time and it's been consistently on time, all orders correct, utensils included, and packed all very neatly. The containers are HUGE which probably helps keeps things as crispy as possible. The onion rings were surprisingly still hot and crunchy, thick and nice. The weekends gets super crowded! We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server even came quick she was the sweetest! Been to this IHOP a few times as it is close by our house. They've got some decent promotions out there, and the prices are decent. Typical breakfast place, with your regular fixings of your staple items you'd see at breakfast place. I've had the Pesto Crepes, Chicken Tenders, Short Stacks (Original Buttermilk Pancakes) and just recently tried the Pot Roast. You have to try the Pot Roast, it was so good. The meat was super flavorful and very tender. I loved it, and would recommend trying it if you like pot roast. Came with two sides as well, delicious! The customer service here has always been great, the staff for the most part are very attentive and friendly. Sometimes depending on how busy it is, the wait and service can feel a little slow, but overall the staff get the job done. Recommend signing up for their loyalty program, so you can earn what they call Pan Coins, which in turn let you earn free food in the future! Also, another pro tip is to ensure you get a receipt, because there is an offer on there that gets you a free short stack just for taking their customer satisfaction survey! Great service, clean, comfortable environs, and above all, quality food all make this IHOP one of the better breakfast food spots I have visited. I'll be honest. Over the past few decades or so, I've become somewhat of an anti-chain advocate, but my dad has been a fan for years, and he mentioned I should give IHOP a shot. And am I glad I did! At the times when we both come, it is quite quiet and relaxing, the staff is extremely friendly, and the food is always fresh, tasty, and ample! My go to is typically one of the omelette meals (either spicy poblano or big steak), which comes with a choice of sides. For me, it's always the gluten free pancakes (with a slight surcharge for GF). I'm not exaggerating when I say that this meal alone pretty much is enough to feed me for the entire day! And best believe... anyone who knows me will agree that I'm quite the pig. I always end up with a to go box filled up enough to look like a full order at most other establishments! The IHOPPY Hour specials are also an amazing deal at $6, and are available daily starting at 3 pm! Thanks to this IHOP, I have become much less of an anti-chain snob these days. If there is an option of zero star, that would be my choice as I have the MOST INSULTING experience in this ihop restaurant today. To start, I brought my 5yr old daughter and my dad to this ihop restaurant at about 10:30 am in Newark close to Ranch99. We had a good time visiting some museums and my girl, who was diagnosed as middle-severe autism since two, wanted to go to a restaurant for some waffles, syrup and ice cream. We used to go to another ihop restaurant in Oakland, and my daughter really loved the vanilla ice cream in the ihop restaurant in Oakland. I thought this one at Newark would be a nice experience as well. I was COMPLETELY wrong. After we were seated, no one came here to serve us until I asked. This is not a big issue as I understand it was busy time for branch. My girl started to get cranky as she was still learning the process of waiting in the restaurant and kept saying "I want ice cream". But everything was under control. However, what happened next shocked me. When a waitress came here to take our order, I asked her "can you give us an ice cream as soon as possible because my girl starts to get cranky?" I was expecting "yes" or "sorry, the kitchen is busy so it may take a while" etc, which were the similar answers as what we had in the ihop restaurant in Oakland. Instead, the answer we got is "if you talk to me like this, you need to leave." I was shocked and even a little confused because when I ordered my food, I didn't even raise my voice. So I asked: "can anyone else come to help us?" And the waitress said "no" and didn't allow other people tocome here to serve us. Now I realized she was probably the manager. As frustrated as you can imagine, we started to grab our stuff to leave the restaurant. When I passed by the front desk, I can't help myself but asked the waitress/manager: "is this how you treat your customers? My girl has autism." Even more shockingly, she said "please leave or I am going to call the policy". This really pissed me off so yes, I raised my voice and said "you don't have the right". I said this because in the whole scenario, I don't think we did any thing that harmed anyone or violated any rule. In fact, I was trying to cooperate! My girl started to cry and I felt horrible and even guilty to bring her to this whole situation. If not for protecting my autistic girl, I WILL call the policy and bring justice right here right now. Finally, I want to say, I dined at this ihop restaurant in the past by myself. Everything seems fine at that time. I guess you will never know the true color until things that happened to me like this. I think this ihop owes an apology to me, my daughter, my dad and everyone that witnessed this horrible unprofessional events today. UPDATEs on 8/21/2023: The area manager at ihop Newark emailed me today and said the following: "I was in the store at the time of the incident, and I was able to speak with the employee in question, as well as the guests in the surrounding area at the time. Based on that information, we would greatly appreciate it if you would refrain from dining with us in the future. While we strive to provide the best service we can for all of our guests, those that decide to belittle or treat our staff without respect are not welcome. I wish you and your family the best in the future." Well, this time I am actually NOT surprised as ihop has agin proved its arrogance, bias and discrimination on under-presented group such as autism community. Have you even showed any evidence on my disrespect? I am trying to cooperate and it is YOU iHOP who rejected my ask and threatened to call a police! I am DONE with this restaurant. I am very disappointed in this place. My boyfriend and I waited for about 5min to be seated.(which is okay.) The hostess was rude. Once seated we waited another 15min. I come here once a week w my senior mother for six months now, and today the manager told me the meal I order can not swap the toast for pancakes when I've done this for six months. I don't mind the charge the toast usually gets subbed for 2 pancakes. By every single server. A server recommended this to me, I've been servered by almost every server there these past 6 months and they allow this nonissue. I will not be returning. I was a polite 20% tipping customer who was treated poorly by the manager on October 15 10amish I didn't eat my food. I got up and left and told the manager I will not be dining here. Used to love coming to this IHOP. The space is accommodating for large parties and the food and service were always exceptional. That was until a recent negative experience where my family and I were completely dismissed by the hostess. We (party of 4) walked in to the restaurant one morning, right up to the host podium, and the hostess didn't acknowledge our presence. When I asked for help, she disregarded me and began calling out names and assisting other parties to their tables. I turned to the employee at the pay counter for help, but he ignored me and walked off. When the hostess returns, she looks right past me and greets the couple coming in behind me. The man steps right in front of me, continues talking with the hostess, and when she immediately put his name on the list, it was clear that she did not want to help us. Before I could ask again, she walks away from the podium, ignoring me completely. I was so upset by her blatant disregard for me/my party and decided to leave. I still can't believe how dismissive both employees were, in all our years of coming here we'd never experienced anything like this. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and I never like to assume that unfair treatment is racially motivated, but when two white employees prioritize other white guests over the only people of color, it's hard to see otherwise. If the hostess' intention was to decrease the amount of people of color in this establishment, she succeeded in doing so because we will never be returning. read more

Some of my recent iHop experiences where really amazing until I decided to try this place. As usual I ordered my weekend breakfast online and picked up later. This was the closest iHop showed from where I was that morning. Pancakes, French toast, hash browns - my typical obsessions. Pick up time was just 20 mins, so I was there around that time. This place looks great, ambience is quite amazing. Plenty of parking nearby as well. A perfect spot. As I walked in, no rush or long line like some of the other iHops around. Two staffs were chatting at the counter. May be I disturbed their chat, not greetings - one guy asked for my name. He went looking for my order and other guy was silent. Had to wait for couple of mins until the staff came out with the food. I thanked him and walked away. Hardly any reaction from them. Strange. The order was accurate. They had packed it well, added utensils and one caddy of syrups. I really don't understand why iHop restricts the syrups to be one caddy per order. Strangely no butter was included. Pancakes was damn good - as usual. The french toast was a disaster. It was more like a egg toast than a french toast. The hash brown was over burned as well. Not a pleasant experience for a weekend breakfast. Very much disappointed with the food. Overall experience was terrible. First the attitude from the employees and then the terrible food. My family and I (Party of three) visited this location and when we arrived, we were put on a waiting list and told, "about a ten minute wait". Ten minutes turned into twenty and next thing we know, three people that came in after us were seated ahead of us. That's when I went to the person running the front host station. I asked the woman if she could figure out where I was on the list. NO ANSWER. Just a dumb look on her face. I told her my name (Again) and she proceeds to start writing my name, LAST on the list! Staff here are super friendly and they used to always get my pickup order right (accurate). However, in the past year or so...it seems they have a really hard time completing very simple pickup orders. Half the time, they leave something out...of a very simple order. 2 egg breakfast was missing toast one time. Today, they left out pancakes from the breakfast sampler. When i informed the woman who asked me about it (i think she was the manager, i'm not sure about that), she told me i should check the order before leaving with it. I normally do actually check my order before leaving but (a) the order was so simple (i only ordered 1 breakfast item - the sampler) and (b) they had put staples all across the top of the bag containing my food, so... super inconvenient to tear apart the bag to make sure they got a simple order correct. What can I say? I feel like all IHOP restaurants are the same. There servers here are great most of the time. But when you come on Sunday morning, don't expect the service to be quick. When I go any other time, usually at night for dinner, the service is exceptional and the food doesn't take long to come out. But Sunday brunch resulted in everyone getting their breakfast foods, eating, and ready to leave. That was when my bleu cheese bacon burger came out. Since we don't have many small business breakfast/brunch places open late, I'll have to settle coming back here.
