We ordered the elote, cauliflower ceviche toast, Eden tacos, Alfredo pasta, and crispy tenders, and every dish was a hit. The kids especially loved the pasta and tenders. I also have to mention the pineapple upside-down dessert--it was incredible. We barely got a taste before the kids finished it, so we had to order another one. Absolutely loved it! Any time you try something new that's less than a month old there's a chance it may not go well. That was not the case at Toast & Tonique. This place is a future gem for Newark and something this town hasn't had in forever. The pictures online don't do this place justice. It looks like a simple diner but in reality it's the closest thing to fine dining that you'll find in Newark. The menu isn't overwhelming but they offer so many different cuisines. We started off with the pork belly bao buns and the Mexi-Cali wings. Both were incredible and blew us away. Especially the wings. They offer several different types of wings which is just another reason to keep coming back. My main was the Bombay Sliders which were made with lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly. My only gripe would be the amount of sauce made it somewhat difficult to eat. The highlight of the evening, beyond the food, was the service from Megan. She knew the menu well and was conversational with us. She was incredibly friendly as was the rest of the staff. The manager, Eric, came by and chatted with us for a bit as well. I really hope Toast & Tonique succeeds and stays in Newark for a long time. I know we'll do our part to keep this place going. We can't wait to come back and try more of this menu! read more

Food is amazing! Full stop and that's all that matters. This amazing spot just opened in Newark, CA outside Fremont. Only 2 weeks in and the food is solid! I had the S&S Chicken BBQ as an entree and it was so amazing. Had coleslaw on the side which was delightful. For starters we had the cauliflower ceviche and the Elote. Both were awesome especially the elote. Ambiance is really nice and chill. People are super nice but the servers need a little more work. Again super nice just very green and missing the little things. But that's ok. They'll only get better and this is a diamond in the rough in Newark. Come here and then come back. We came here for brunch, which is served from 8-12 (the rest of the menu can only be preferred after 12). There's a long bar inside and nice booth seating, and the windows let in a nice amount of natural lighting. Service did take a little while, especially for how empty the place was when we arrived. We ordered the Banana Espresso, the Korean Loaded skillet, and a Spanish Omelette. The Banana Espresso was very nice, with a clear espresso flavor that wasn't overpowered with sweetness that other places might do. The Spanish Omelette was refreshing as well. It's made of egg whites and some veggies, so I wouldn't expect something like a Spanish tortilla. But the egg white omelette is a light flavor, and the fresh jalapeños layered on top add a nice kick of spice. The Loaded Korean skillet was interesting, but as a breakfast food for me it was heavier than I'd personally like. Two sunny-side up fried eggs layered on top of mini-pancakes, Korean fried chicken, kimchi, American cheese, and a bed of tatter tots sounds like a good time, but I felt like the flavors didn't mesh as well as I'd like when put all together. Our server, Joy, was attentive, made great recommendations, and had a fun personality. The menu is well-rounded with flavors that can satisfy all walks of life in the Tri-City area. I started with an iced banana foam espresso followed by an order of Chiliquiles. My husband had the Ultimate Skillet with pork belly that melted in your mouth! The decor is nice and inviting, the food is amazing, the drinks are off the hook but the friendly staff made it PERFECT! Upon entering we were greeted by a gentleman with a great smile who took us to our table. Then came Joy to take our orders. She suggested a cocktail called Beullubeli which has vodka and their house made blueberry syrup -- DEEEELISH!! I wanted to have more but didn't. Hello everyone, on 5/8/2026, my wife and I WENT TO "Toast & Tonique" for brunch. When we arrived there were employees towards the back of the restaurant, but no one came to greet us. After five minutes I went and found our host. After taking a look at the menu, we both decided on the kimchi omelette and two coffee drinks. I had a banana latte and my wife had a dirty chai latte. The place is beautiful and spacious, with TV's on the walls. The host was really nice as well. The drinks came first, they were really good but not hot. The omelettes came but were over cooked and made with American cheese. My omelet came with tatter tots which were good and my wife's came with hash browns. The food does not come with toast and none is on the menu. This review is not to discourage anyone from trying this restaurant, just my personal experience. All and all I give Toast & Tonique three stars. read more

My partner and I had lunch today at Toast and Tonique, a new spot in Newark tucked into a mostly Asian shopping center. The space is clean and modern, and the menu casts a wide net, pulling from cuisines around the world. She ordered the pesto flatbread with shrimp and enjoyed it, though she noted it arrived warm rather than hot. She also ordered a dirty chai latte without the espresso, which isn't exactly on the menu, but the bartender accommodated her without issue. It came out lukewarm, but they quickly remade it hot without being asked twice. That's a good sign. I went with the Korean fried chicken and fried rice. The chicken was good, roughly six pieces comparable to a single chicken breast. Solid, satisfying, no complaints. I did try to order hot tea and was disappointed to find they didn't carry any. I pivoted to an Arnold Palmer, only to learn they also didn't have iced tea. A little surprising for a restaurant billing itself as a broad, all-day kind of spot. Overall a decent first visit. The food is fine to good, the service was responsive when things needed fixing, and the space is appealing. The beverage program could use some filling out. read more

Ok this place just opened officially a week ago, but the soft launch was 3 weeks ago. Anyway, we came for brunch. We were excited to try a number of items on their menu. However, when we arrived there we were told we could only order off the brunch menu. Apparently on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8a-12p they only serve food off the brunch menu. After 12p you can order off the full menu. So basically your brunch options are limited and there are no appetizers/starters or wing options. They have pages of food items before you even get to the brunch menu. Apparently there was another group that came and waited at their table for 45mins until it was noon so they could prefer off the full menu. The place was fairly empty when we arrived at 10:30a and by the time we left more folks were coming in. So they probably knew at noon is when the full menu was available. The place in general was clean and the bar area was nice. Plenty of tables and booths. Restrooms seemed clean and nice. The servers were friendly. The food was ok but didn't knock my socks off. I wasn't blown away by flavors either. For what we were expecting it was just fair. We ordered KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) & Waffles, mexi-cali skillet, and citrus refresher (mocktail). The mocktail probably had the most flavor out of everything we ordered. The waffles already had the syrup on it, which was surprising. We would have thought they would have put that on the side for us to pour over ourselves, but nope. The skillet came out and was not really hot at all. We were honestly disappointed that you can't order other items off the menu during brunch. I'd recommend only giving a brunch menu than the whole menu to see dying brunch times. I'm not sure any of us would rush back. If we did return we will be sure to come when a full menu is available. read more

The appetizers came out at a perfect time before the entree. The food was delicious. The desserts were delicious and the ube cheesecake is very innovative. The service was outstanding, the waiter refilled our waters without having to ask, the manager came to see how our table was doing and he could be seen on the floor attending the other guest and overall it was a great experience. A late review but something worth it. I went here on Sunday and ordered Krispy chicken and Waffles, which my goodness were so delicious that I am craving them right now again too. 1st time dining here. Went for the mothers day brunch. We were there at noon and the restaurant was about 1/3 full. 1st impression the restaurant was very nicely appointed but the music was VERY LOUD. Fine for 10pm crowd, but certainly too loud for a mothers day sunday brunch. We were seated right away. We told our server we wanted to order the MD brunch special $52 ea. Even though there were other people there she said we were the 1st ones of the day to order the prix fixe menu (red flag) Ordered a matching martini and lavender lemon drop at $19ea. The matcha flavor in the martini was so strong it overpowered the drink. The lemon drop was okay. Neither drink had a strong alcohol content. We then got the 1st course. Clam chowder. My wife and I didn't see one clam in the chowder. Tasted fine, but no clams whatsoever. Then we received our appetizers spinach dip and meatballs. Both were fine. But I told our waitress, "I think you skipped our salads." She checked and said "I'm so sorry." Then brought out our salads while we were eating our appetizers. The salads were pretty big, they ran out of ranch dressing (odd) so we had Ceasars salads instead. Which is fine. We weren't upset. Next came the main. Blacked salmon and birria tacos. The taco shells were soggy. I think because the timing was thrown off by delivering our appetizers before the salads. So I imagine my tacos sat and got soggy. The next issue was there was no consume to dip the birria tacos in. Which is problematic when that's what you get them for. I spoke to our waitress twice, the manager, and then two separate waitresses and waiters came to me to ask what was it again I needed or if it had been delivered yet. This was over a span of 15 minutes just to get the consume that should have come out with the order initially. My wife already ate her salmon and frankly the wait and the fact no one was overly concerned other than a sorry made me lose my appetite. I asked for a box and a check and just then my consume arrived. I asked if we could get boxes and our desserts to go. Another 10 minutes for that. Not once was our water refilled and the manager never came back to talk to us. Very disappointed because I thought this might be a nice speak easy but for $150, we could have went to Macaroni grill and had a better experience for sure. Honestly we tried to give every chance in the world. But this is one of those situations where 1st impressions matter. read more
