These guys have a HUGE selection, but overall I found it to be a little higher priced than Turin(my usual shop). I purchased a U-lock from here and the mount broke when I tried to install it on my frame. I took it back to BikeSource the next day and after playing with it for a while, the staff there said the best they could do was point me in the direction to the nearest Ace hardware. Not exactly the solution I was hoping for. To be fair, they were completely out of the lock I had purchased, so he couldn't really just swap it out for me. Husband and I came here with nothing more than a vague idea of what Husband was looking for in terms of model of bike. The sales associate, Steven, was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and realistic. He worked within our price range (we were on the very low end of what that store can offer) and I never felt like he was trying to upsell us. At a couple of points, I asked, "do we really need this thing?" and he was honest and helpful in explaining the pros and cons. I would definitely recommend this store to ANYONE looking for a bike. I went in looking for a good velo movement machiney thingy and this very handsome but very weird guy named Jimbothy or Jimby Moon or something just came at me talkng all this stuff about the best place to find celestial tight pants with a purple tinge and which semi-ironic facial hair best fits the weather and what my thoughts are on speccing out an aerothurge geomancer with scoundrel and about how I better not touch his crappy milk frother and how he eats Mac and cheese 3 meals a day and how damned beautiful his roommate Xris was and how Xris' beauty is only and barely surpassed by his twin and I was like "whoa bra all I want is one them boneshakers I've been getting telegraphs about". As this Timmy guy started talking to me I got lightheaded trying to navigate through his meandering and alien speech patterns so I wanted a better look at this Jimb fellow but when I peered through the cloying yet sweet fog of e-smoke which swirled about this mystery employee like ghostly migrants on a pilgrimage to honor the fabled Vape Lord, he disappeared.... Vanished into grease stained workbench like the banana smell of triflow lost in a breeze. All that was left was a great bike shop with a nice selection and wonderful service. 10\10 would go again. read more

I have a Trek hybrid bike that used to be my mom's and has been passed down to me now. It has not been used in over a year, but does not get a lot of wear. I read the reviews of BikeSource before calling and they told me a Tune Up would take over a week since they were getting backed up. I explained it might not need a tune up. Eli told me to bring it by when I could and they would look at it and decide whether or not it needed a tune up. So, I brought it by this morning within an hour of the call I made, they took me right away, looked at it, threw some oil on the chain pumped up the tires and said I was good to go. They did not charge me for this service! And, were great about helping me understand when I might need a Tune Up. I appreciated that they were willing to help me out so quickly! I'm not an avid cyclist or anything more than a regular recreational biker, but I believe they did a very nice job of getting me what I needed! I would definitely go back to this place. Some advice: make an appointment well in advance if you need some work done. I have an event this Saturday that I was hoping to use my bike for and was disappointed that they may not be able to service my bike before the end of next week. They will take walk-ins for minor stuff like mine. But anything more may need an appointment. Also, to park, be sure to go to the lot south of their store. I parked north of their store because I knew I wouldn't be there long and there was tons of parking, but it did appear that it was all YMCA parking. read more

Salesperson, Steven, was knowledgeable, listened to what was important to me, explained differences among bikes clearly, answered questions without making me feel stupid for asking them, and was helpful in every way. I have purchased bikes and had bikes serviced at the Bike Source on S. Colorado for the past 8 years. I have never been upsold when buying bikes here. They try to understand how you ride and then tailor their advice to that information. The last bike I purchased was for my son. The sales guy, Del, told me the size we needed was at another location and that he could call and have it held for us. This meant he would lose the commission. But it didn't mention that. In the end, we were able to buy it from the Colorado Blvd. location so he did get the credit. The best experiences I have had involve the mechanics. Here's my most recent experience: I made an appointment to bring my cross bike in because there were some serious creaking and other issues. This is my favorite bike that I ride all the time, whether commuting or for cross. Jordan, who is one of the mechanics, threw the bike up on the stand for a preliminary review while I was standing there. I told him what the issues were, and he started checking out the bike. He explained all of the possible causes and took notes. I then asked if I needed a new tire, and he said I did. He took me upstairs to look at tires (he didn't just tell me where to go and leave the selection up to me), and asked how I rode - how often and where. Based on that, he recommended several tires and explained why. We then went back to the bike, and he told me I had several hundred miles left on my chain, so no need to replace at this point. He explained what would happen to the teeth if I let the chain get loose. He also showed me how to tell when the chain was ready to be replaced. The point of all of this is that I ended up really trusting Jordan and felt he had my best interests in mind. I don't know how to fix bikes. He could have upsold me on the tire, and told me the bike needed a complete overhaul, including chain. He actually didn't have to spend all the time he did explaining everything to me. What was apparent was that he really likes what he does for a living. It was a great experience for me. And the bike rides like new now. I also brought my mtn bike in for a tune recently. When I rode it again, the breaks squeaked, but hadn't before. So, I brought it back to Bike Source. Eli immediately threw it up on the stand and started working on it. He found the issue, told me how it could be easily missed and did the additional work and parts for free. He even tuned the derailleur. He was really nice about the whole thing. Again, it was a really positive experience for me, and I felt like he had my best interests in mind. One other point - I like the set up of the service area. You can see the guys working on the bikes, which my kids love to watch. Some of the mechanics have been there for years. It seems like a good working environment where the guys joke around with each other. They never display any attitude. For example, they are friendly and they treat each bike with the same level of respect, whether it's a one-gear kid's bike or an S-Works. One thing that has improved is the music down in the shop. They are playing jazz or classical, which I think is professional and family-friendly. Sorry, but I'm an old guy from the suburbs! To sum it all up, I know there are multiple Bike Source locations and it's kind of a chain. However, with the service guys at the Colorado location, I feel like it's my local bike shop and I'm supporting neighborhood guys making a living doing what they love. read more

I went in for a chain and happened to have my bike with me. They not only installed the chain but also gave me advice on tuning. Did some minor repairs and filled my tires with air. Diesel is fantastic and I recommend these guys... They will do right by you and affordably. read more

We went into this store yesterday with the clear intention of buying a bicycle. I rode 2-3 bikes and made my decision to go with a nice Specialized Cirrus carbon bike that retailed for around $2100. I told the kid who was helping us that I'd made my decision and wrap it up. He started on his way to the front desk when I stopped and asked about the bike fit. His response was that I'd have to take my new bike to another store and pay more for that service. They don't even offer bike fits at this store, not to mention that they were more than happy to let me part with $2100 and NOT offer this service. I realize that the bike I'd chosen was not the most expensive one in the store, but it's by no means a small amount. I've selected the same bike at another store in town and they offer free bike fits for purchases of this amount, so needless to say they'll be getting my business. Bike Source is the McDonald's of bicycle stores. They're not serious and they don't really know what they're doing. read more

I got absolutely excellent customer service from the store manager, Max, on my first visit to this store. He went way above and beyond to give me an excellent experience. And he didn't try to sell me on products that I didn't really need either. I told him about pain I was experiencing and asked about saddles, and instead of pointing me towards an expensive new saddle to buy from him, he gave me some advice and said he didn't think I actually needed a new one. Even though there are other bike shops much closer to my house, I'll make it a point to support BikeSource from now on. read more

I wanted to give this shop a good review but was unable to justify any rating higher than a 2. First impression it's a nice shop. Very big and lots of product with reasonable pricing. I came to them for a new rim and wheel. I called in advance so they held item up front for me. Took me 10 minutes of staring at 2 employees behind counter before one of them even acknowledged me and that was only because I finally spoke up and asked if they were ignoring me on purpose. Apparently their computers were more interesting than paying customers. Guy in service department was much more friendly and helpful which is why they got 2 stars instead of 1. Would go back for a cheap part if they were only ones with it in stock. Other wise I will never go back there. read more

If you want to purchase a bike from this store, do your own extensive research first, because the sales people are vastly unknowledgeable and the manager definitely will not stand behind the products. I was sold the wrong size bike, and they would not return it, only insisting that I had it improperly fitted. However the "professional fit" was done in this store and re-assured multiple times to simply pass time until they could say "it has been to long and we cannot return this bike". I took a major financial loss here, in addition to the months of frustration and pain from riding a bicycle that is too big for me. We are supposed to enjoy the ride, but if you are sold the wrong bicycle for $7,500 that is simply not possible. read more

My bike was covered in 3 years of dust when I brought it in for repair to get it in working order again. I knew it needed a new tube but figured it would need quite a bit more to get rolling. The folks at this shop are extremely honest and didn't take advantage of my ignorance or neglect and suggest I needed anything more done to the bike. It cost barely more than a few bucks and a few minutes to get my bike road-worthy again. If I had known the experience would have been so easy and pleasant, I would have brought the bike in so much sooner, but at least I know now where I will always bring my bike for whatever is needed. Undoubtedly one of the single greatest retail establishments I've been in since I can remember in recent history! These guys are amazing. I walked in looking for a few parts for an Electra bike I picked up on Craigslist and was greeted by 3 floors of pure bicycle bliss. This was just the beginning though. The team there is unbelievable. Robert has a passion for all humankind unlike anybody I've ever met and it really shows in the work he does. His coworker Oliver was also incredibly helpful and always supportive of other ideas for my new bike. I didn't even buy the bike from them and they made me feel like a rockstar for owning it and reassured me on the quality of my Electra purchase. Doug even put me in touch with Electra to special order a few parts directly to them that wouldn't be available otherwise. Needless to say only a week went by before my girlfriend decided that she too needed a cruiser to match mine and we returned to get her new Electra as well. The whole experience was completely amazing and was made that way because of their remarkable, caring staff and vast knowledge and selection of product. We will never use another bike shop as long as BikeSource is around! read more

In early October I went on a trip through the Kokapelli trail in Western Colorado/Eastern Utah. Before leaving for the trip, we wanted to have plenty of spare parts. Most of the parts I was planning on buying were things like extra chains, brake pads, and spokes -- the type of things that you usually keep extra in your toolbox anyways. The 2 other people on the trip and myself headed to the local Bike Source on Colorado and Yale, expecting a large selection of parts and good service. I first went to the service counter, where I asked, "Can I buy a boatload of parts to go on [Kokopelli trail], and when we get back return them if they are not used?" I was told to ask the manager, Todd, who said yes. I wasn't planning on returning all of the unused parts, but I didn't want to be deceiving about the parts I was going to return. After being in the store for nearly an hour, mostly buying off-the-shelf items, measuring and then asking the shop tech for parts, Todd came down and told me that the items that we had spent our time picking out were going to be subject to either a technicians' service charge of 1 hour ($60), or subject to a restocking fee. At the time the technician was measuring some spokes for spares, and Todd must have assumed that the technician had been doing so since I set foot in the store. He stated that because I was being helped by a technician, I should have to pay by the hour for the service. This was the first time I heard of a fee for being helped by a tech. I reminded him that he agreed to let me buy a "boatload" of parts, and have the ability to return them at no cost. He had changed his mind, and now I would be back-charged for all of the time I had been in the store. At this time one of the members of my group told Todd that he had recently bought a Specialized Roubaix (a very expensive bike) at this store, and was surprised that we would need to pay a fee to receive help, especially after spending thousands of dollars there. This made no difference, and Todd insisted we pay for an hour of the tech's time. I told Todd that the tech had not been helping me the entire time, and it is ridiculous that I should have to pay to just be in the store. He insisted I pay for the entire time I spent in the store. I suggested he ask his technician how much time he had spent with me, which was 15 minutes. This was confirmed by the technician. Todd then asked that I pay a restocking fee on all returned items (regardless if they were sized by the tech or myself, or bought off the shelf), or pay the rate for 15 minutes of service, $15. I contacted the company and spoke to the President last night. He believes I have no right to be upset, stating that Todd must not have known that I would need parts that would be specific to the bicycle, and that I should have shown him my shopping list when asking him to buy a bunch of parts. He also pointed out that it is unreasonable of me to ask the bike shop to take back unused parts after a trip. I agree with him that it is out of the ordinary to buy parts with the intention of returning some of them, which is why the first thing I did when I walked into the store was ask the manager, who didn't seem to have a problem with it at first. I assumed that the manager of a bike store would know his business and understand the replacement parts needed for a long bike trip, and would need no further explanation. At the end of our hour long conversation, we still disagreed. When I said it was wrong to charge people for a service previously thought to be free, he said he still agrees with his manager. After hanging up the phone, I realized I was contacted to be told about how lucky I was that the manager even considered allowing me to return unused parts after the trip, that I was wrong for asking to do so, and how the president takes complaints seriously. In my humble opinion, It think if the manager realized he had agreed to something other than he thought, he should had said so in a more timely manner and asked that I pay the tech fee from that point forward, not for what had already been done. I see this as the manager going back on his word, and asking me to cover the expense of it. At the end of the day, I was back-charged $60, which was negotiated to $15. At the time I felt like this was the wrong way for the manager to handle the situation, and after speaking with the president, I feel no different. In my eyes, once you agree to something, you follow through. I was trying to be as transparent as possible in the situation. With their policy on back-charging customers, there is no way I could recommend this store to anyone, regardless of their service and selection. All said and done, this ordeal It cost me $15, hours of time negotiating with the manager and on the phone with the president, and bike source at least 4 customers. read more

I bought a Sirrus Comp from BikeSource last year and have really enjoyed it. The sales process was a bit involved, but it's worth it to get things right. They took the time to properly fit me to a frame size and make all the necessary adjustments so the bike fits me perfectly. At first I thought the guy was simply trying to up sell me when he moved into talking about bike computers. Later out on the road I learned the hard way, that he was correct. It's good to know how fast you are going (especially at first) when you get a much more performance oriented bicycle. The on-going service has been very good. Included in the price are free adjustments for the life of the cycle. BikeSource is great at tire and/or tube replacement while you wait. The bicycles available range from fun cruisers to top of the line professional road bikes. Good deals can be found in the clearance section, and they seem to have a fair amount of kids bikes in stock. They also have a decent selection of accessories and clothing. It's not my bike store of choice (mine'd be Campus Cycles, where I picked up my entry-level carbon fiber Giant for $1500 when the sticker price on it was $1900 - everyone's got their favorite though; sort of countering another person's comment from 2008 about how he couldn't get his bike for 15% off - mine was 21% off, and they have *plenty* of "cool dudes" working there in 2013/4 - not to mention I get free tuneups for a year after purchase) but it is the closest one and within walking distance for me. When I recently had a flat, they had a patch kit with adhesive to get me rolling. The bikes aren't the most expensive in Denver nor are they the least. The staff seems competent with help and I did go here a year ago when I was shopping for my next bike. They just didn't have the specials and felt more "big box" than Campus did (not to mention I literally picked the guy's brain at CC for over 4 hrs between test rides), so I ended up getting my bike elsewhere. For accessories and supplies, they have a great selection of items here. read more

I was in the market for a new bike, and although I've been a bike commuter all my life I've never invested in a worth while ride.. so it was an exciting day for me! I stopped into bike source first because its only a few blocks from my house, and was shown a few bikes that met my needs and price range, but had my mind set on shopping around before making any decisions. I went to salvagetti, Turin, and campus cycles after searching for bike shops with the top reviews in the area. Bike Source was by far my best experience, hands down! I felt like the employees understood what i was looking for, and even though i wasn't in to spend a butt load on a high end bike, took the time and treated me just as well as if i was. I wasn't impressed with the selection i was shown at any of the other shops ](I had a budget of around 500$), but I left bike source on my first visit constantly thinking about the Vita which they had shown me. So I finally decided i had to get it, and when i returned to bike source the process of buying, fitting, etc was more thorough than I would have thought, and they have a lifetime service of tune ups which was even more convincing! The kicker to this whole experience was i took a customer survey after purchasing my bike and mentioned in my feedback i didnt realize when you buy a nicer model bike they didnt come with a kick stand (which is standard practice) i received and email from the manager offering to comp and install one for free to improve my experience. From the little things, like remembering my name when i came in the shop to the more important aspects like offering a great selection of quality bikes, i was sooo pleased with my choice to shop here and will continue to go back to pimp out my awesome new bike with cool accessories! So, I found Bike Source and called them. THey were SUPER HELPFUL. Even though they KNEW I was not going to buy anything from them, they were determined to get me the answer I needed about my Tarmac SL2. Without them, I'd still be searching. Got a flat a week later and they showed me how to replace my own tubes and then slimed my tires for free.
