We walked in and were promptly greeted and given instructions on where the kids' bikes were located. That's about the only good I can say about our visit. We were told by the salesman that we'd be helped in a few minutes. After 25 minutes of being ignored in the basement we left. Yay for bikesource! I love these guys! I got an amazing deal during their spring sale on an obnoxiously purple commuter cruiser a couple of years ago. Obnoxious! yay! I'm so glad I bought from them, and not from the other shops in the DU area. First of all, they give you free maintenance for life on any bike you buy from them. That means when my silly bike gets a loose nut that needs to be tightened, or I need to replace a tube, or need help putting on a new handlebar because I smashed the old one all up on some sort of drunken joy ride through the woods, they do it for free! For someone who isn't so good at fixing bikes, this is a huge deal. Second of all, they never laugh at me when I bring in said obnoxious purple cruiser. At least not to my face. That alone is worth five stars. Now, don't let this review be misleading, bikesource is a happy home for the hardcore bike kid as well. They have a great selection of fixies, mountain bikes, road bikes, accessories, cycling clothing, and anything else your heart might desire. Wow....Can't say much about service or selection...never got as far as service, and bought at the end of the pandemic....so I was happy they could order in a bike that I actually thought might work for me (been riding 40 years; retired my old Gary Fisher, got a sweet Rockhopper in FL--where I live part-time; THOUGHT I'd be able to get something just as nice in my normal home, Denver...WRONG!). SECOND ride out (we are talking shakedown rides here...not getting on it, only took it on soft gravel trail)...TWO flats (okay...I can live with that; neglected to get thornproofs) and a blown shock later, I find myself back in the store where the manager gives me a dead shark Mona Lisa look and tells me "sorry, it's 20 days out past the 30 day return" (yeah...I had to wait 2mos to get it in, then I was in the arctic for 5 wks)....no mention of "warranty" or "contact Specialized"...the next words out of his mouth were "You can sue us, if you'd like"....Yeah, I think I'd like that. Hell...it's what I DO after all! What a TERRIBLE experience.....Now I have a USELESS bike that cost $1200..yeah, not a lot...but i DON'T need a lot...NEVER do business with these guys. read more

I have known for years that Bike Source is overpriced; however, my recent experience takes rip off to a new level. I brought my 6 yr olds' $50 Batman bike to Bike Source for a kickstand. The person helping me took a standard size kickstand, cut it to size and screwed it onto the Batman bike. The entire cut and install took 90 seconds (I timed it). Bike source charged $10 for the kickstand and $10 for the 90 second "install". When I questioned the install charge he said that he would take the kickstand off and sell me a different kickstand and I could go home and cut it and install it myself if I preferred. Nice service! I began my search for a new bike at BikeSource after researching the Specialized Vita online. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and began browsing around the large, multilevel store. When I didn't find what I was looking for, I approached the counter and asked for help. The cashier was with a customer but she flagged down Shane for me and he took me down to a basement area I hadn't even noticed. I spoke with Shane a bit about my riding needs and my interest in the Vita. He had a me sit on a couple of bikes to determine the correct size for me. I could tell Shane was new to the store and he enlisted the help of Evan to help us find one of the few Vitas in my size currently in the store. Soon afterward, I was off on a test ride in the adorable neighborhood a block behind the store. I took my time riding up and down the street on that lovely bike and had a huge crush on it when I returned to the store. Since this was my first stop, I still had more shopping to do and wanted to look further before I made a final decision. The Vita is a very nice bike and it was in my price range but I later found a bike at another store I liked even better. Even though I didn't end up with a bike that day, I highly recommend BikeSource for reasonably priced bikes and excellent customer service. read more

Although I've never purchased a bike from Bike Source, I can speak highly on behalf of Eli and the service department. I have had lots of work done to a couple of my bikes here. The service guys were efficient, professional, and kept me in the loop throughout the entire process of all my repairs. I've never had someone in the service department of a bike shop reach out with status updates and answer all my questions via email. When Eli did this, I was pleasantly surprised. Shopping for a bike is never easy. Luckily, my wife already had a bike I loved, and I went to Bike Source to get one for myself. My experience was a bit different as I just needed to order the bike and not have to take a test spin. I ordered my bike in about 15 minutes. Bike Source had to order directly from Jamis as it was not in stock. It took about a week for the bike to come and and be built. I also opted to have wheel locks and seat locks put on as well. When I picked up the bike it was already to go and I was informed of general upkeep that Bike Source offers. I can bring my bike up for general maintenance any time. That is rather nice, especially on a new bike. When I put the bike up on my rack to take home I noticed some scratches on the frame. It is always hard to say who is to blame, but Max was awesome and gave me some credit on the bike for the minor scratches. It is always nice to be appreciated as a customer with great service. BikeSource is awesome! I am an avid indoor cyclist, and I recently purchased a used pair of cycling shoes that were perfect except for one thing - a crooked cleat with one of the bolts missing. I remembered seeing BikeSource while driving along Colorado Blvd, so I decided to give them a call. I asked how much it would be to straighten a cleat and install the missing bolt, and I was pleasantly surprised when he said "no charge, and we usually have bolts lying around anyway." When I stopped by, I was helped right away and within five minutes both cleats had been adjusted and tightened. Needless to say, I am very impressed with BikeSource and will be going back, whether it's for more adjustments, gear, or even one of the bikes that I was drooling over while I was in there! read more

This place can be a little difficult to find, and the parking is not helpful as it's on the side of the building, then your having to walk back around to the front. But otherwise I don't really have any other complaints about it. The customer service, only from what I've experienced on this one time visit was superb. I wasn't neccessarily greeted when I walked in, but could see that they were busy and that's understandable. But I was greeted within a 5 minutes time frame, which was great. The sales person I was talking with was understanding, polite, and knew what he was talking about in regards to bicycle helmets :). I told him that I knew nothing about helmets and he took the time to explain the different types, and yes I took one of the other reviewers suggestions and was asking numerous questions about the helmets. I would go here for accessories, and with having a lifetime warranty on my helmet, I can't go wrong with them. read more

Store is nice and just remodeled. They have tons of e bikes. They are a specialized dealer/storefront. They have a few other brands like Santa Cruz but mainly specialized which in my opinion is over priced for what you get. I've been mountain biking for 30+ yrs. I have not bought a bike from them but typically buy my nutrition (they have a ton!) and some occasional gear/jersey if on sale. They are very busy on weekends/summer. All of their employees are very nice and helpful. While I can't say its where I'll buy my next bike (I like small mountain bike companies; not huge ones like specialized) I will say if your in market for new bike I would recommend. I have only used their service one time yrs ago; went well. read more

This the 4th time I have been to Bike Source on Colorado Blvd with the intent of purchasing a bike. On the upside, they are close to my house and they have the bike brands that I'm interested in and they are renowned for having great bike fitters, plus I like to creating a relationship with local bike shops. On the downside the last 3 times, I was in the shop I was looking at purchasing a road bike and a mountain bike respectively and I wanted to spend between $2500 and $3500 for a bike and more than likely I would come back for upgrades and spend more $$$. Not the most money but certainly a decent amount of money. The first 2 times that I was in the store, not one sales person approached me, acknowledged me or offered any help. I will admit that one of the times I was in the store it was a particularly busy Saturday so I came back in off-peak hours but still no one helped or offered to help me. I am once again in the market for a new road bike and I thought that I would give Bike Source another chance. I would love to say that I found the bike I wanted, and fitted on the bike with excellent customer service. I did find the bike I wanted on my own but finding a sales associate to help me with it proved much more daunting. 2 associates looked right at me and kept walking and did not say a word. Another associate would not even make eye contact with me, which would have meant they would have had to speak with me instead of the group of friends they had in the store. Meanwhile, at the cash wrap, 3 additional associates were having a great time talking with each other. and I was the only customer in the store other than the friends of the associates. After trying to get someone's attention for 15 minutes I decided to take my money elsewhere. I will give one associate credit and he thanked me for stopping in. So take this review with a grain of salt since you experience may be completely different but I do know that other bike shops in the area will take the time to talk with you and help you select and fit you on a bike and it will be a good experience. This bike shop has shown me 4 times that they are not interested in helping and serving customer who walking in the door. I would give them half a star if I could. read more

Customer service has been horrendous! The pandemic has made life hard for all of us, but this store has responded terribly. Bought two bikes last Spring. Great price but I would have paid more for better customer service. When you call most times it hangs up. Other times you get a recording that tells you to call again. Specialized put a ride hold on my recent purchase. Bike Source called to let me know and said they would let me know when a work around would be available. BS never called me. When I called, and got a person to talk to, she said bring it by and you can wait while they fix it. Bring bike in and they say no way can you wait. Said 24 hours would be done. 24 hours later I have to call and cannot get a person to answer. 48 hours later and I am still trying to get someone to answer the phone. Awful! read more

I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who helped me (all I know is that he's from Florida), but he helped me pick out the PERFECT bike for my needs and within my price range. I felt/feel so good about my purchase. I'm going to go back there for a car bike rack. Sure, I could probably find one online for a few bucks cheaper, but they deserve all of my business. CO Blvd Shop specializes in fleecing their buyer. First story Buddy bought a brand new bike from them. (~$3-4K Mtn Bike) They assembled, tuned, and gave it the thumbs up. We go for initial ride and he wrecks on first minor down hill because his handle bars have twisted 90degrees and all but come off the stem. They weren't tightened / attached even remotely correct. I fixed it with my hex wrench from my saddle pack. Fortunately for him this was on an easy ride (rollers on C470 side of Green Mountain) because he was only out to acquaint himself with his new bike and not bombing down hill which would have been catastrophic. 2nd Story I went to get a tune up before fall trip to Moab. They were to check the brakes because I was concerned even though I just replaced pads and disks. I ended up replacing rear brake due to 'broken' caliper. And the pads (I just purchased from this store). And the brand new disc I just installed and used 1 time in my street when I installed the new pads and disc. There was no 'burned' / baked on oil. They simply had not been used . . . Mechanic bald faced lied to me and said they couldn't clean them and that I had to buy a new disc. They knew I had to because his next comment was, 'or you can ride Moab with faulty brakes'. They obviously train their mechanics how to squeeze every dollar out of their customers. I knew they could have cleaned the disc but had to buy the part so I could pack and leave. Every other mechanic I have spoken with since says, "clean oil off with any of several brake cleaner products". I still have the disc and it cleaned up great with a simple spray and wipe. AND regarding the brake installed: my trip was miserable because the brakes they installed squealed so horribly I basically had to ride with it partially on. Pedaling UP Moab hills with brakes on is not fun. I read as many reviews as I could find when I got back and guess what. . . . no one talks about brake squeal with GOOD installs. Hope you enjoy the few sheckles you got from me this time. No more business from me - Or - my friends. I have fortunately stopped a couple of friends purchases from this shop. Other dealers got some nice new bike sales as a result. And I'm going to keep it up, because I don't want my friends to wreck on poorly assembled bikes or be fleeced by unscrupulous sales. read more

I was recently in the market for a bicycle and I'd been here before in my search over the past 2 years. I'd always had great service and lots of assistance, even though I never purchased a bike. However, this year, I was serious and ready to buy a bike. I'd narrowed down the type of bicycle I wanted, so I went in to check their selection. I was assisted by Maddy, who was friendly and helpful and I "test rode" bikes downstairs. I had my eye on a specific Specialized Vita Sport that sported a chocolate brown/black frame. It was lovely and beautiful and I was in lust instantly. A sale had just started that day, but the bike I liked was not on sale. And the size I needed was not in store. They were going to locate the size at another store and have it transported here. I was told it should take a day, but it might take up to a second day. As I was anticipating the bike delivery, I did call them the next day to see if it had been received. They told me it had been delivered, but it wasn't yet inputted into their computer system, but I could come in for a ride. As I'd already gone to REI and was let down, I decided to postpone the ride until the next day. I eagerly came into the store on a Saturday and they were busy. I stood at the cash register stand until someone noticed me standing there and finally asked if they could help. One guy had no idea about transfers as it was his first day and finally some gentleman rolls out a bike to me and says, "Here it is." To which I responded, "That's not my bike!" After the salesperson researched it, he told me that those were the colors came in and the bike he brought out was a satin black color. I let him know the one I was looking for was chocolate brown/black. As he kept telling me there were only two colors, I had to show him the bike in stock. That's when he realized the bike I fell in love with was last year's model and was discontinued. After checking their computer system, no other store had other models in the size I needed. At this point, I could have begun my search again or changed it to the bikes they had in stock, but I was just disgusted after having a not-so-great experience at REI the day before, I was just too through. I decided to go back to the store where I had the best experience on a bike I loved and left. Unfortunately my last experience with Bike Source left a bad taste in my mouth, but I know that was an honest mistake, which is why I only took off a star and not two. Three stars it is. If I hadn't had the last experience with them, they would have surely received 4 stars, even without me buying anything there. read more

I had a great experience at BikeSource this morning. I went it to buy my first pair of clip in shoes and pedals and received top-notch assistance and advice from Nelson. He was super helpful, took a lot of time with me, and did a great job of recommending shoes and pedals given my cycling habits/clip-in beginner status. It was great to be able to practice clipping in and out in-store, which made for a smooth first ride later in the day. I took my newbie cyclist sister bike shopping and we started at Bike Source. She knew she wanted a female-specific carbon road bike, and had a tight budget. She is also tall, so needed a very large frame, which isn't common for a lot of bike stores to have in stock. Bike Source found a perfect bike for her, on sale! The sales guy took an hour or so getting her fit and going over shifting, etc., before sending her out on a test ride. 15 minutes later, she was in love with the bike. I made her go test ride other bikes at other shops, to have a comparison. She came back to Bike Source though and bought the Specialized Ruby. She asked Bike Source to package and ship it to AZ for her. They agreed and spent another hour or so with her going over things that newbie cyclists need to know. She came away feeling great about her bike and her experience with this store. And as the frosting on the cake, I went back to the store the next day to purchase a computer for the bike as a surprise for her. These guys were great. I actually found out about them through Yelp by searching for bike shops in the D.U. area. I have a Specialized Tricross Bike that needed a new front wheel after a wreck. They researched it and found out it was still under warranty and the whole ordeal only cost me $10 for labor. I also needed another tire for a mountain bike and they looked high and low for the best deal we could find. They also have quite the selection on bikes: Cruisers, MTN bikes, Cyclecross and Road bikes. Plus the whole downstairs is a discount room. read more

When I was in the market for a new bike, the service personnel at Bike Source were more than knowledgeable about the products within their store. They inquired as to the type of usage I was going to be getting out of the bike I elected to buy before they showed me anything on the floor. They started with the road/commuter bikes since the majority of my riding was going to be to and from work within the city. They fitted me for a frame, adjusted all the settings on a bike within the store and allowed me to test ride the bike through the neighborhood. When I returned after my test ride and told them I was uncomfortable with that bike and that I might prefer the feel of a mountain bike better, there was no pressure to put me on that particular bike. They then asked me some more questions about my riding habits and hobbies and steered me toward a mountain bike that would fit my needs insomuch as that if I elected to I could have slicks put on to convert it to a street bike. They did not have a bike frame set to my size so they used the frame on the road bike as a determination of whether or not the fit would be accurate. They did not have a bike available for me to purchase that very day, but had one available for a build. I then elected to wait for the build to test the bike. Three days later the bike was ready, I was able to test it and actually walked out the door with the bike that same day. There was never any pressure to make a sale or put me on a bike just in order to get a sale done. The sales representatives took the time to answer all my questions, ensure that all the necessary adjustments were made so that my ride would be the most comfortable it could be, and, before I left, took the bike to the service center for a final check to ensure there were no loose parts and everything was in proper working order. Post sale they staff has been excellent as well. My mountain riding has been a bit more excessive than in the past with this new bike and I am hitting more challenging courses. On one course I struck down hard on my steer tire and the wheel went slightly out of round. I took the bike in to the shop the next day and was serviced immediately and the wheel was adjusted enough to reduce the wobble and binding of the brakes. This was done at no charge to me and took less than 10 minutes for them to repair. The repairs were done while I waited and the staff, remembering my recent purchase, asked how I was enjoying the new bike and if there were anything they could do to make it better for me. They show genuine passion about their job and are exceptionally professional at all times and courteous beyond reproach. read more
