I went with a friend to look for a moderately-priced eBike. This is an attractive, well laid out store with a good inventory of bikes, accessories, and parts plus a knowledgeable repair department. The staff was extremely friendly, laid-back, and helpful. The salespeople were easily able to answer all of our questions. They showed us exactly what we requested: a quality eBike for city use at a very reasonable price. I am an every day rider. Principally in the city, along the many bike trails and bike lanes throughout Denver. Why drive a car when you can ride a bike! Or as I like to say, when you can drive a bike. Not that my bike is electric, it's old-school, a surly, and I love it! On a recent early morning trip, my back tire wore out and my tube went flat. So I walked over to Mike's bikes and got a new tire for the back and also the front and had them install both tires, keeping one of my tubes and getting a new tube. The staff here is so helpful, orienting me to new tired, better suited for my travels around Denver. Principally on hard surfaces, and not on trails or gravel. The expertise of the staff was very much appreciated in this regard. I had new tires, and one new tube completed in about an hour on a Sunday. Amazing! I was back on my bike later that day. The place is the go to if you need a bike or any other bike services. I'm new to the hobby and was looking for a bike to get some cardio since my knee injury. Mike and Corvez are awesome people. Super knowledgeable, stoked about bikes and can you tell everything that you'll ever need to know to help guide you on the right purchasing path. I shopped around at 3 different bike shops and this place had the best deal hands down. Didn't have my bike at the Denver site so they got it shipped over and set up well ahead of schedule. I have been taking my bike to Elevation Cycles for years. The staff is super friendly and the shop is very conveniently located for me. For someone who rides their bike as infrequently as I do, and on paved sidewalks and roads, I sure got a lot of flats - more than I have ever experienced with prior bikes. For years, I kept bringing my bike in for flat repairs, more and more frequently, until this year I had a flat literally every time I went to go use my bike. I called this out to them each time I came in and insisted we needed to do something beyond what they were doing. But each time, nothing changed. I stopped biking since I knew I would show up to a flat if I tried and that's when I knew I needed to take my bike somewhere else. And so, I decide to give the REI bike shop a try. They kept the bike for a week, fixed it, and I haven't had a flat since. I don't know how many hundreds of dollars I wasted on recurring flat repairs at Elevation Cycles, but I will not be going back. The REI bike shop is the only place I go to now. It saddens me to leave Elevation Cycles a 2-star review since the staff is so friendly, but I just can't leave a better review for a bike shop that can't fix a bike after being given so many chances. read more

I just wanted to say thank you for fixing my bmx bike brakes this evening just before closing! I had some issues with them squeaking horrifically before and after installing new brake pads a few months ago. I was fearful the only way to make them stop squeaking was to buy new rims. That would have been extremely costly. However, a member of your service team was able to adjust them and sand the pads down a bit, and it worked like a charm! I'm unbelievably thankful that you went the extra mile to fix them for me! I appreciate how you approached the problem from a different perspective, it saved me a great deal of time and money. DO NOT SHOP HERE! I bought a bike on Wednesday, spent $800, and it was stolen that night out of my locked garage. They sold me a $70 lock and the sales guy promised me it could not be cut. Well it definitely was. I wouldn't be surprised if it was this store or someone they know that stole the bike. I was asked a lot of questions about where I lived while checking out. They are bragging about selling 300 bikes a week. I wonder how many they are stealing back and re-selling. I went back and they would do NOTHING for me. Even though they recommended the lock. I went to a few bike shops before Elevation, looking for a new commuter bike after just moving to Denver and spending previous years with a pretty shoddy hand-me-down bike. I found the perfect combo of good options and helpful staff (was not the case at the other stores we had tried before!). The folks at Elevation helped me find a great bike, made sure I had everything to ride safely, and got the bike all tuned up before we left. I have been an avid bicyclist for 40+ years and lived in 5 different states. I have probably patronized about 100 different local bike shops. Elevation Cycles has the best customer service I have found. I do a lot of my own maintenance/modification work. Elevation Cycles are always able to perform anything beyond my skills. They have even corrected one or two things I did not realize was outside my skill set. Their service department made a repair on my pedal last night that allowed me to ride home safely. They did not even charge me anything. They have done this on more than one occasion. I figured the least I could do is leave a positive review. I FOUND MY SHOP!! So NO...I'm not a native. We've been in Denver for four years and I have been too MANY of the historic, old-school, well-known shops in the Denver/Boulder area. Most have been relatively friendly but there have be two standouts in my book but Elevation downtown has been my FAVORITE. I LOVE bikes but HATE bike shops. I've WORKED in a bike shop and hate bike shops, but so far in my three experiences at Elevation downtown I have found very friendly and VERY down-to-earth employees there. I recently had a set of wheels into the shop for what I thought would be a re-tape and reinstallation of my Cush Core tire liners but open further inspection, the mechanic said he thought they looked good, added some sealant where there wasn't any and then said "No Charge, just go ride them"...FLOORED. We asked if they'd stay open past closing so we could pick it up. Even after a full day of working they waited! They were very friendly and accommodating. Great shop. Last summer I bought a new Trek from Elevation Cycles on Ash Street. I also bought a few accessories from them over the course of the season. During the transaction I was told that I'd get a free tuneup. Today. I stopped in to redeem the offer and was told the offer ended in February. So in fairness to them, I showed up late to dance, I guess. In fairness to me, there is little that I hold in more contempt than this kind of mealy-mouthed bureaucratic niggling. So I won't be back. And I will be advising my friends to avoid them. read more

I recently purchased a new bike and the staff was very helpful with helping me chose which bike was the right one and even had one delivered from another location for me because the one I chose was not in stock. They also were great with setting up the bike and very quickly attached the accessories I bought when I picked the bike up and then were easily able to give me directions to the bike path for me to ride my new bike home. My rear brake handle on my Electra Cruiser bike was not engaging. I called these guys to see if they could do a tune up. Very pleasant man answered and told me to drop on by. I did. I live downtown. Their location is central and easy to find on 15th St. Someone helped me bring my bike up to the repair area. Within minutes, a nice repairman fixed it!! So very kind. He said, "No charge...the brake was just frozen." NO Charge?? What??? They are a super great group of guys working there!! I love this place. They could have charged me quite a bit. They are not in the rip-off business. Honest company. I did however, buy a bunch of cool merchandise for my ride. Basket, bell, lights...well worth every penny. Thank you, Elevation!! Elevation Cycles is an outstanding bike shop who went above and beyond for me, recently. I'm a commuter cyclist who really just wants a machine to get him to and from work every day. Ideally, my bicycle has a low total cost of ownership and cost the least per mile to ride. When I brought my broken bicycle to them with a busted internally hubbed gear system, they (A) did the best they could to fix the bike within the limits of my budget, (B) were transparent about the cost of a more robust repair (fixing the broken arm as opposed to applying a bandaid), and (C) helped me select a bike that is better suited for my needs (remember - low total cost of ownership). The repaired bicycle was unrideable 10 miles after I received the cycle. When I brought the bicycle back to them, they (A) diagnosed the root cause, (B) refunded the cost of the initial repair (which I would have forgone with the additional knowledge about the state of the bike components) and (C) offered a loaner bicycle for me to use until my new cycle is ready to pick up. I am thrilled with the staff and the way they treated me. Though I can make basic adjustments to my cycle, I am not an expert in bicycle maintenance, nor do I have the budget or desire to spend thousands on a new cycle. Some shops have made me feel inferior for this difference in approach to bikes; this shop has treated me extremely well and has earned my loyalty for years to come. As an added bonus, the bicycle I bought through them will receive 5 years of free tune-ups! read more

Thanks DJ... I have been to many bike shops and this one is amazing. So satisfied with the service I received from DJ at this downtown location. He and pretty much the entire in store team we're amazing in helping me search for a new bike purchase and make a very quick repair on an existing gravel bike. Ultimately the value with these gentleman really came down to great recommendations on gear choice that ultimately could have saved my life riding along side a gravel shoulder on Bear Creek. He noted that the pedals I was using were difficult to operate and recommended a substantial upgrade that turned out to be worth every penny. He got me hooked up with some awesome equipment that was light years better than what I was using and made recommendations specific to the terrain here in the Denver area. Delighted to find someone knowledgeable enough to upsell me in a way that was in my best interest. Highly recommend having a visit. These guys really screwed me with a bicycle box. I called a week ahead of time, gave the dimensions of my bike, and they said call 3 days ahead. Called 3 days ahead, again gave the dimensions, specified how dependent I was on this go get my bike on a plane, gave my name and number. Called one day ahead to double check, and they said they only had a medium box that should likely not fit my bicycle. Now I have to scramble with other plans, may cost me hundreds of dollars (rei new box plus lyft xl). Thanks a lot guys. read more

Or the shop doesn't need revenue. I went in and told him a lower price range then was real, which is I'd expect normal as a buyer, and he pretty much stared at me with a fuck off look. These guys really know their stuff! I was looking for a new mountain bike and this was the last stop, and where I ultimately found my new bike. I'm still getting started on the sport and Reeves was very, very helpful in explaining what to look for in a good bike and had some great suggestions for what bikes would fit my needs. I ultimately scored pretty well on a FS ride and fit me perfectly. I also get a free tune every year for the next 5 years that I'll fully be taking advantage of. I know that I'll be able to come in any time for questions related to maintenance or even getting tips on what trails I should hit that weekend. Super friendly service you won't find at a big box.
