Since moving over to the Molholm Two Creeks part of Lakewood (aka the Casa Bonita hood), Schwab Cycles has become my go-to neighborhood bike shop. I have purchased tires and taillights, had flats fixed, had them undo my attempts at making "minor" gear adjustments, and even sampled baked goods from the countertop. The family that own the place, and the people that work here, have consistently been extremely helpful and friendly. They listen to my concerns, and make relevant suggestions. I never feel like they are trying to upsell me unnecessarily. Prices are reasonable, and most of the time I've been there I've been able to get almost immediate service. They are extremely judgment-free, when it comes to the price of a customer's bicycle, or the riding skill of the bicyclist themselves. I had bought a cruiser for my husband at Scwab Cycles back in the 90s and had a great experience. The location has changed but the staff are super welcoming. I needed service on my road bike, new tires and tubes. I called first to see if I would need to leave my bike or could have the work done quickly and they invited me in right away. This shop has some really distasteful service I experienced after two visits. I brought my bike in for a new wheel and back de-railer diagnosis, was charged $200 for a new tire and told everything was good, I was back a week and a half later. The guys working there seemed upset that I had an arrived a few minutes prior to their 10am open on weekdays. the service was really condescending especially considering how out of shape these old men appeared. wish this wasn't the closest bike shop to me. read more

I totally recommend this place. Their lead times are shorter than competitors as are their turnaround times. Their rates are also much lower. The quality of the work has been perfect for me this far, I've had them handle 3 or 4 different tasks for me and when I pull the bike out I notice they had taken care of literally every detail. Schwab may be the best bike shop in the state. Frankly, their approach to service is refreshing. I'm a mountain biker who dabbles in road, and stopped in last week to ask a few questions about road bikes as I was considering upgrading to a new rig. Bruce spent about 30 minutes with me discussing the pros and cons of a number of different options for a new bike to new wheels, to minor upgrades to my existing bike. There was exactly Zero pressure to buy, and, more importantly, the info Bruce gave me was both insightful and accurate. I'm also very impressed with their approach to fitting bikes, and to ensuring that their customers find the perfect fit in bikes they sell (e.g. they give you 6 months after you buy a bike during which time you can swap out parts if you realize they don't work for you after you put them to the test). I have since recommended Schwab to all my roadie friends, and will continue to go here again and again for as long as they'll have me. read more

I came here on recommendation of my normal shop (Salvagetti) for a professional bike fit. Since my normal shop only does basic fits they directed me here for a more in depth fit. They were awesome. My bike was already pretty dialed in but I wanted to get a professional opinion and help on a few things. Due to that it was pretty quick and cheap. they also tossed in a front derailleur adjust and quick rear spoke adjust with it. For a normal fit expect 1-2 hours and possibly a return trip for further dialing in. They also have the fancy fitting machines for when you are looking to buy a new bike. Great people there and very nice too. read more

I went in here looking for parts to convert my geared road bike to a single speed. The person who helped me gave me much more insight and suggestions than I found anywhere online. He also wasn't trying to sell me on a bunch of parts, but rather was giving me suggestions for reusing some of the components that were formerly part of the geared system in order to save me money. He ordered a couple of parts for me too that didn't require me paying for shipping and I returned the following day to pick up and pay for the parts. Compared to online prices, this shop is just a little inflated, but I expect this and am am willing to pay a little extra for the customer service. I can't speak for this shops ability to do maintenance or repair work on my bike. read more

My husband loves this shop. He turned me on to it when I needed a new road bike and now I love it too. I'm an average rider but wanted to upgrade and didn't want to spend a fortune. Bruce mentioned he had a LiteSpeed that they had set up for a smaller woman and she had health issues and couldn't ride it. He sold it to us at SUCH a reasonable price. To this day, when my bike needs tuning or I have a problem I head to Schwab. My most recent experience was a shifting issue, they worked on it and called me the next day. Above and beyond customer care, service and honesty. We had a very expensive Parlee rolled over by a car and Big Ring in Golden where we bought it basically wanted the entire amount of our insurance claim and more to fix. Pretty much everything on the bike was ok except for the frame. I suggested Kim take it to Bruce because of the good things I've heard and he said the same thing as I thought. "Heck, everything looks completely functional so I'll just move it over to another frame and charge you ...". Basically it was 1/4 what Big Ring wanted. We are so happy with that service that I now pass 10 other bike shops to only use Schwab. Plus they have the coolest bikes in their store. Need a rare, vintage part? They've got it. Excellent customer service! I had my first experience at Schwab cycles when I had an issue with my road bike wheel. The owner, Bruce, told me he needed a few days to look into it. I told him I commute to work on my bike so he loaned me a wheel so I could continue to ride. How nice! I ended up buying the wheel set. After my first ride on the new wheels I noticed my tire was rubbing on the frame. I took my bike back in and he got me in a new tire right away. They do a great job catering to your needs at a fair price. Also the cupcakes offered on Fridays are delicious! read more

I was pleased to find that they carry a CO2 inflater that works with non-threaded 12g cartridges (which cost a fraction of the new bike-industry-revenue-generating models). I'm glad I found this shop! They've been around for a few years, so I'm guessing I'm not the only one. This shop is all about the yuppy cyclist who love the spandex and high dollar bikes more that the ride itself. I purchased a bottom bracket for my single speed commuter bike. The mechanic took some measurement and ordered me one. A few days latter I instal it and upon tightening, the spindle would not spin freely. I took it back and some fat ass of a bike mechanic starts saying how I didn't know how to install a bottom bracket, As if it were rocket science? I went into the Track Shack yesterday and was sold the correct working bottom bracket in two minutes without any need for measurements. I also picked up a set of cranks. After installation every thing is perfect! read more

Schwab Cycles is the only place I will ever go again for any bike needs. Its a drive for me. But every one is helpful and understands bikes. They will spend lots of time and interest to help find the best bike for you. I would consider myself a more serious rider. Brought my road bike here after the nearby, large but respectable bike shop scratched their heads and said "try a new chainring or a campy chain", neither of which fixed the chronic overshifting in the front. These guys tracked it down: a small missing piece of plastic on the inside of the Record front shifter, cannibalizing it from a derailleur in the shop and epoxying it so it won't ever come off. The new chain they installed was skipping on my worn rear cassette and they even gave me a less-worn loaner until I could order a new one. And, they installed some bar end caps that I didn't even notice for a week. Very competent and I did not feel overcharged; in fact the bill was small enough for me to have them rebuild one of my shifters, which I would consider an impulse buy. read more

I had a set of wheels rebuilt here, after 100 miles the rear wheel starting coming apart, one of the nipples completely unscrewed from the spoke and was rolling around inside the rim, called they said "oh I guess that spoke didn't get enough spoke prep", upon replacing the nipple I discovered that on the drive side there was a lot of spoke thread showing on the nipples inside the rim and then discovered that some of the spokes on the drive side where at there limit on thread count, took the wheel to another long time bike shop in central Denver, turns out schwab had used the same size spokes for both nondrive and drive side (contrary to the manufactures recommendation) resulting in a wheel that can now neither be trued, dished and is out of round. I am going to have the wheel rebuilt, odd this used to be the best place for wheel repair/rebuild. read more
