I went in there for a warranty issue for a drive train part they installed in March. The issue was not treated seriously, instead I was humiliated and made fun off by the older tech guy in front of the whole staff. My neighbor had similar experiences. So I'm obviously not the only customer they're losing. I'm 65 years old and I've been mountainbiking for 35 years, and was never ever treated that way in any store. I can't say enough good things about the mechs here. Always helpful and willing to squeeze me in with an annoying derailleur issue or wheel true problem. They're kind, helpful and willing to teach and explain the problem and fix. I bring my MTB, road, gravel and kids' bikes here. They like kids, allow dogs, and have beer on tap. This is the way a bike shop should be! Good vibes, friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge. I stopped in 10 minutes before closing, needing help with a very saggy rear shock and they were able to fix it right then, didn't charge for filling the air, and gave me all the info I needed to keep it running good through the rest of the season. I am soooo impressed with these guys....had a crushed rim during the high peak of covid when you couldnt get any parts of service and they were the only ones of the 10 or so shops i reached out to that were able to get me a replacement and FAST....later brought in my MTB for a full tune, fork, shock service, etc and it came back with a reasonable price tag and feeling like a brand new bike (5 yr old Bronson).....I put about 2500 miles a year on my mountain bike and have brought in to have serviced every 6-8 months for many, many years and this is the best service I've ever had...thanks for the TLC guys!! read more

This shop is truly amazing. Nice floor space and large number of bikes for demo and purchase, and every accessory you can think of. If that isn't enough to sway your path through doors of this masterwork of a bike shop, they have a six tap bar with rotating taps and a knowledgeable and (here's the kicker) FRIENDLY staff. This guys actually ride bikes they aren't going to sell you on the latest fads or extras you don't need. If you're looking for a smooth bike shop experience I highly recommend giving them a try, located right off 6 in Golden ridiculously close to apex and chimney, could you have asked for a more convenient location? Whether you want to shoot the breeze and have a beer after a ride, or need some objective advice on what your next upgrade could be, this is the place to bring your bike. I went into Pedal Pushers to get some new tires for my road bike and a new wheel for my mountain bike. The gentleman who I dealt with when I went in on a Sunday was fantastic. Very friendly and he helped me select tires I'd be happy with. We very clearly went through each service that I was getting and we decided on the exact price it would be. I left excited for my new tires. When I came back to get the tires on, I believe, a Friday, a dark haired gentleman helped me out. Well, let's not use the word gentleman here as it disgraces the word. He pulled up a total that was $30 more than we had agreed on. I asked him to break down where that extra $30 had come from and he mentioned that the price for the tire installation had been $20 more after "labor". I explained that I had very firmly made sure to get the exact price, including labor, when I had first come in (I'm a student, I'm always broke, I use my bike for commuting and have to know exactly what I am paying for things to work it into my budget). The employee then got incredibly angry and said "What, you'd expect free labor if you went to a mechanic too, huh? We charge for labor here - unless you think that's unfair?" - he said this with a snarl. Seriously, his lip was curled up into a snarl as he said this. I got incredibly offended because I had been professional and had just been inquiring about the total and had given him no reason to get so upset - plus, I would never try and walk out of a place without paying for labor! I was so offended that I told him "Hey, there's no reason to be rude!" and he immediately switched his tone, though only on the surface. He sarcastically, or perhaps vindictively, took $50 off my purchase, which wasn't what I had asked for. He made the situation so uncomfortable that I paid the reduced total and ran out of the store feeling terrible for having simply wanted clarification on a price. I guess that's what he wanted, for me to feel terrible, so he succeeded. read more

First. Class. Folks. A few of us stopped in for their 1 year anniversary celebration at the new location. It was demo, party, BBQ, raffle and beer day! The (entire) staff here are excellent and passionate. The reps that came in to build and assist with the demos had superior knowledge and a genuine friendliness you only find around people petting puppies. Loved this day. I rode the new Intense Tracer 275, although my legs and lungs weren't in shape to climb with a 1X setup, my ridding buddies had no problem passing mountain goats up the trail. However, I hung in there and this Carbon Tracer's descent was buttery, light and quick. It was a rock and trail absorbing machine, allowing quick technical turns around the switchbacks and the bike just screamed...only my finger tips kept this two-wheeled rocket ship from getting away. read more

I've had a couple of minor repairs done at pedal pushers, and they've helped with small bike maintenance stuff (eg seating a tubeless tire). They are nice guys, and they clearly know what they are doing. They convinced me to get my fork rebuilt, and they told me it'd feel a lot better (though I hadn't previously had any complaints with it). In practice, I didn't notice a difference after the rebuild. Perhaps someone more in-tune with their bike would have appreciated it more. I still like the shop though. read more

I don't normally right reviews, but I felt Pedal Pushers needed a big shout out. I have an "antique" schwinn and they were able to fix my gear shifters. They're acting like they're new. I've been fighting them for years and many different shops weren't able to correct the problem, but pedal pushers made the fix and now my bike runs better than it has in years. Thank you!! read more

Great shop! While on my weekly ride from East Denver I needed to stop in for some quick directions. The guys were very easy going and polite. Although I had no idea how to get where I needed to be, they did a great job of pointing me in the right direction. The staff seemed really laid back and happy just to be working at a bike shop. I can honestly say that I have had a decent number of experiences with most of the bike shops in the Denver Metro Area. Hands down, Pedal Pushers is the best bike shop I have encountered here thus far. My only regret is not coming to them sooner. They're honest, attentive, knowledgeable and down-to-earth people. I don't know why, but this has become such a hard thing to find in bike shops lately. For example, I came in today after bashing some chain links and a pedal pretty badly on some rocks at Apex... instead of taking the traditional route of an elitist bike shop snob and 1) first insulting the product I currently own (why would you ever own that in the first place?) and then 2) trying to upsell me or convince me that the answer to my problem is to simply replace everything with something new and better (the easy route). The employee actually took the time to troubleshoot the situation and although I did not expect it, fortunately, found a decent work-around that ended up being very economical and had my bike running back in original form. They also helped me with a number of other things I had been meaning to get to do on my bike for a long time! Most of all, it is the relaxed and approachable team that will keep me coming back to PPC. Update 1/22/18: I just had a factory service on my shock and fork performed by PPC. I had originally intended to send them off to Dirtlabs, but was in the shop to rent a bike for a friend and found out they have a pretty extensive suspension operation of their own. After talking to Sheldon and Kris, I really got the feeling that they knew their stuff and that this would be same level of service DL would do, but much more convenient since it's local and maybe a little cheaper. The can recharge nitrogen btw. I got my bike back and the fork (a pike) felt a little funny to me. I reached out and Eric (the owner) immediately took the time to help me figure out what was going on and help me tune my updated fork. Now my bike feels great and I'm really happy I went with PPC (again). Thanks guys! read more

First time in Pedal Pushers and I have to say I'm very impressed. I believe in supporting my LBS but unfortunately not all bike shops are the same. There are many bike shops that seem clicky but this isn't one of them. They made me feel like I was one of the crew when I walked in the door. No really they put me to work like one of the crew lol. All and all Eric was professional and very knowledgeable when it came to his trade. He not only sold me the tires and gear I wanted but installed my tires on the spot in no time. Big Moots retailer which is great. The guys that work there know their stuff and are very helpful when you have questions. If they don't have it they can order it. Their bike service is second to none. They can fix just about anything road or mountain. You gotta love a shop that has a dog as well. Friendly and playful like a good dog should be. I recently moved into the neighborhood and have always heard good things about this shop so I was eager to see how they stacked up against other shops in the Denver/Golden area. Turns out it doesn't get much better than these guys. From the bikes they stock to the components, apparel, and accessories they sell, they have the avid mountain biker in mind. I've seen plenty of townie and road bikes on their service racks too so I know they work on everything. And yes their service is great- even when it's something like a warranty that is likely not making them any money and just costing them time on their end, they do it with a smile and fast. Also, this shop has the cutest shop doggies ever. Most times a furry friend is greeting me the moment I open my car door. And they also have a bar with local rotating craft beer! Simple and genius at the same time. Stop on in here and you will have a good experience, pet some cute dogs, and drink snobby bear at the very least:) But seriously this is a legit bike shop that you should have your biked worked on at. read more

I have not had good feelings about this shop since I bought my Scott hardtail there a few years ago. Soon after I purchased the $4500 bike I found out (on my own-they didn't tell me) that the brakes had been recalled. When I notified the Scott bikes they told me to bring the bike back into the shop where I bought and have them switch out the brakes for free. I dropped my bike off on a Monday and finally on Thursday when it was ready to pick up I was charged labor for the work that they did, which threw me off because I was not prepared for having to fork out more money. Really? Afterward, I asked another Scott dealer if they charged labor for recalled parts and they adamantly said "no way!" The only other couple of times after that when I've gone in there (because it's right near my home and I thought I'd give them another try) they have just been aloof and seem really put off by having to help or answer a question. Now they offer beer on tap, which I find to be a pathetic attempt at either getting more business or seeming cool... I will never go back there again. read more

I went in after a bike ride and had them check out a couple things on my bike. The owner Eric helped me and offered a ton of advice on maintaining my bike. The whole shop was super helpful and welcoming. My bike is a yt which is consumer direct, and essentially cuts out the shop owners. Many bike shops can be very curt when they see someone with a bike like that. They weren't at all. In addition, they only carry brands they respect. Which I respect. Ibis, intense and transition all are companies that are good to bike shops and take good care of them. It's good to support brick and mortar stores and companies. I have been going to bike shops in the area for the last fifteen years. They are my favorite. read more

Pedal Pushers was recommended to me by a friend. I went in yesterday inquiring about Ibis mountain bikes and whether they had a demos for sale. I was sent to a sales person who while very nice was not knowledgeable. The uncomfortable part of the conversation was the manager or owner of the shop kept talking over the sales person and basically told me they had no demos to sell and no new Ibis bike in inventory in a very rude way. I was ready to drop $5000 on a new bike if they had something that worked for me, instead I walked out after being told what I couldn't get. It was a bad experience and I'm not going back. read more

There are 4 bike shops near downtown Golden, I have done business at all, this one is at the bottom of my list. Recent service I received was overpriced compared to similar bike service I have had elsewhere, was not completed on time, and incomplete for what I paid for (I discovered once I got home). I do not recommend this shop for repair or service and I will never go there again. read more

This shop is terrible. I brought my bike in on May 3rd after buying the LivingSocial coupon they had posted. They said they're busy, but it would be done on May 12th. May 12th came and went with no call. They still didn't call after the bike had been in their shop for 3 weeks, so I finally went down to see what was up. Once I get down there, I find that the bike is finished, but that an extra $80 in labor and parts were added onto the bill from the original estimate for a tune up and replacing the brake pads! Apparently, they feel they can add almost $100 extra without giving a call and notifying the customer that they are doing all this extra work. No car repair shop would ever get away with this, and I don't think bike shops should be allowed to either. Supposedly it took them 5 HOURS to repair my crank. I tend to think that's a bit of an over estimate. I am also suspicious that this work even had to be done, since my bike got all the cables replaced and a full overhaul, LAST YEAR, at a reputable bike shop in Durango, CO. There couldn't have been that many new problems that popped up over one summer of riding. They said everything was necessary and the bike was dangerous to ride if they didn't do it, but I would think this stuff would have been found when they gave an initial inspection of the bike, if it was such major, potentially life threatening problems as they described it. In my opinion, too many people got in on these coupons ($40 for $80 worth of repairs or merch) and they risked taking a hit financially, so they tacked on work that didn't need to be done to make up for it. To be fair, they did only make me pay half the extra charges in the end, and apologized, but frankly I'm still very disappointed with this place and would never consider going back there. read more

I have owned and run several small businesses and I can say that the crew at Pedal Pushers is amazing and is doing an excellent job especially in customer service. I was headed up camping and needed a pair of shoes and some pedals as well as a few things looked at on my bike. Instantly 2 of their staff started helping me and one hopped on my bike for a test ride. One of them even repaired my dropper post for free. Got a great new set of pedals and a new pair of shoes for a good price. Went on a good ride while camping and had a decent crash which broke my shifter. I'll definitely be going back to these guys for my repairs and future cycling/mountain biking needs. read more

I used to never spend any money on bike parts before I started hanging out at Pedal Pushers and I ended up buying two bikes from these guys in a single summer. They always help me out when I'm in a jam and they carry stuff that they actually use and like. The new store is amazing and makes it clear this is a premier shop for the Denver/Golden area. The focus here is on making riding fun and you don't have to know a thing about bikes or maintenance to feel comfortable here and get some help. The emphasis is on All Mountain and Trail bikes, but they have XC and road bikes as well and can get downhill and freeride bikes from Transition, Intense, and Scott. I am definitely going to keep spending all of my money here. read more

way over priced... Tried to charge me $75 for what they said was a custom made stainless steel rear axle for a Shimano hub. Why they didn't just order the correct part from Shimano or just get a generic axle I will never know. I absolutely refused to pay and got my wheel back and went and got a generic axle that was threaded the right pitch, its just a cup and cone hub, not rocket science. I also went to them to buy a couple of tubes as they are just a few blocks from my house. Then I was shocked at the $10 price tag per tube. The guy gave me some wack excuse that they are special higher quality tubes blah blah blah. When I told him that that's ridiculous, he did cut the price to $6. I got home and they were generic kenda tubes that you can buy from Target or any other place. These guys seem to get off on smelling their own farts. read more

As a long time mtn biker, my goal walking into the shop was to find my wife a mtn bike she would live to ride and therefore become a mtn biker. She was not a fan of mtn biking based on the undersized bike she bought from a friend. So she runs the trails and refused to mtn bike. While at the shop, Eric took her for a spin around the parking lot on a full suspension Ibis Ripley. To emphasize he lack of riding, I will share that she fell at the traffic light. Ugh! But here is the payoff. She bought the Ibis and we went to Moab after practicing on trails near home. She LOVED riding that Ibis all over the gnarly rock and new rollercoaster trails in mtn bike Mecca Moab. Thank you Eric and the team at Pedal Pushers. You Rock! We also bought my son a Scott Scale RC Junior. At age 10 he is ripping up every steep climb on this rare find, light, 27 geared, disc brake bike. Its the way to go if youre getting kids 8-11 or so into mtn biking. read more
