I really hate to write a negative review of a local business, but in good conscience I have to warn others. I stopped in the Platt Park location today (3/18/25) to drop my mountain bike off for a tune and ask a question about the rear suspension. After a nice gentleman (not sure of his name) brought me upstairs to check my bike in, a fascinating yet extremely disappointing experience occurred. Maurice, the bike tech upstairs, was extremely annoyed from the second the other employee and I arrived upstairs, stating he was busy, 'so this better be quick.' He proceeded to exude annoyance, arrogance, and disdain at the fact a customer was there. Then Maurice, unprompted, started making fun of the fact my bike brand (Specialized). Every single moment of the conversation was just another jab or snide remark that I was there... in a bike shop... to drop my bike for a tune. I guess they don't like money? Then he said I had 5 minutes to tell him exactly what I needed before he had to go to a meeting. I just said I needed a tune. As he was clearly annoyed and rushing to collect my information, he was being so rude I told him nevermind, I'll just find another shop or come back another time they weren't so busy. He couldn't have gotten my bike down from the stand fast enough nor have been happier to have potential customer leave. Maurice, go touch grass. And for the shop owners, good luck staying in business with an employee like this. I'll be going to another shop despite you being a block from my house. They get top rating based mainly on their service department. I brought in some tough challenges to these guys and they are aces. From custom setups to trouble shooting stubborn cranks to working on a $10k custom built Ellsworth, these guys are on it. Very knowledgeable and proficient mechanics especially on high end bikes. Will shoot you straight and get you what you need and not try to upswell your on something you don't. Not a huge store or selection but they sell the brands that get it done. Also the owner is very cool and is usually there to make sure you get what you need. This is a great store from real riders not some commercial gimmick store that's going to puff smoke up your chimney. read more

I have purchased several bicycles from Base Camp and Harley, but recently one of my mountain bikes was stolen. Wanting to replace it with the same model, I was informed that it would be mid July of 2022 before one would be available. Harley went on the hunt and found more than a suitable replacement. While it was a bit more expensive than what I had before he sweetened the deal with a nice Kuat bike rack. I really appreciate Base Camp, Harley, Colin and the rest of the team. Yes you can buy a bike online or at a big box bike store but it is worth it to support local businesses. I bought a new bike here (which I received super helpful service) and during my first ride I discovered that the dropper post wasn't working properly . I took it in the next day and they diagnosed it as defective and replaced it on the spot. Imagine trying to deal with that with an online retailer! They serve somewhat of more of a performance minded rider (for adult Mtn bikes at least) but the benefit is that the staff understands that customer, their mechanic is really really good, and while the store is small, their selection of both bikes, gear, and parts is targeted to that rider--so I often find what I need here. I had a similar experience - customer service was super disappointing. My husband and I went in this past weekend because I was looking to buy a new bike. We live in the neighborhood, we wanted to shop local, but no one gave us the time of day. It was actually more uncomfortable because we felt like we were just in their way. We left and bought a bike somewhere else later that day and when we did we said it's really unfortunate they didn't really want to help us. We love this neighborhood and community and not sure with their customer service they really fit in. read more

The staff did a decent job at tuning up my bike, but customer service was disappointing. No one smiled or made me feel welcomed. I mentioned it was my first time in the shop, and it fell to deaf ears. I'd say prices are comparable--maybe slightly pricier--to other specialty bike stores; however, with so many skilled bike shops in Denver, good customer service can make the difference in converting a new customer into a returning one. read more
