Holy moly! When they named this place Sports Plus they sure weren't kidding! They literally have a little bit of everything for your sports gear needs. The BF plays for a rec-league hockey team. Recently he took a slap shot to the shin and quickly realized that it was time for new shin guards. Enter Sports Plus. We picked up a lightly used pair of Bauer's for him for easily more than 50% off the new price tag. Can't beat that! While he was making his purchase, I meandered the store and saw tons of gear/apparel options for golf, figure skating, hockey, lacrosse, cycling, climbing, snowboarding, rollerblading (or skating), and sooo much more! They even handle some equipment repairs on-site as well! Not to mention they also do consignments and sell your no longer needed gear for you too! Bought used skis and ski boots, which I've never done before, just wanted to avoid repeated rental prices as I learn to ski. I let them know I was looking for a good beginner ski and needed to be sized for boots. The man working there sized me and was condescending when I said it seemed like it hurt my foot. He insisted I was a 25.5 and that I'd get used to the feeling, I just didn't know what I was taking about. After a few failed attempts at trying to ski because of how badly the boots hurt and the thiness of my skis, I decided maybe I needed a lesson. I get up to my lesson with my equipment and the instructor lets me know my boots are much too small and I've been sold expert skis. I rented the proper equipment from the resort and had a much better time-- didn't fall once and was able to stay in the boots (a 26.5) all day. A shame they took advantage of my lack of knowledge and sold me equipment that is useless to me. I relied on their expertise and that was a huge mistake. Lesson learned. UPDATE after receiving a response from the owner they allowed me to exchange this equipment for equipment I can use. The person who helped us was much friendlier than the person who assisted us the first time we came in. I appreciated them taking the time to listen and get me into some boots and skis more appropriate to my size and ability level. read more

On my last trip, I grabbed rare item at great price and more recent visit, I found another "gotta have it" at great price. if you like sports on wheels, they got the roller blades, skate boards and bicycles for young and old alike. I love sport plus, we have been coming since my boys were young, now it's time for my grandkids, I took my granddaughter in for some figure skates and Alex was truly the best, he took time to explain that in the fall she would need to upgrade her skates and why! I find myself stopping by Sports Plus at least once a month. Between needing constant supplies for my 10 year old into a variety of sports and our biking and skiing interests, Sports Plus is my first stop for anything we might need but at screamingly better prices than any retail store. Most of the inventory is consigned but there are also new products. We've gotten soccer supplies, all sorts of bike stuff, and lots of shoes. We also bought a nice used mountain bike for my son. Over the 22 years that we have lived in "the hood", we have come to rely on Sports Plus for buying and selling used sports equipment and clothing. As with most kids growing up, our daughter wanted to try practically every sport. From lacrosse (that lasted about a day) to tennis (a season) to volleyball (all of high school) to skiing (forever, thank goodness), much of what we needed to fund her sporting needs . Instead of shelling out ridiculous $$ for lacrosse sticks, tennis rackets etc., we would just go to Sports Plus and pick up something slightly used at a great price. We also loved being able to buy ski clothing every year to accommodate our ever growing child. Selling used gear and equipment is just as easy at Sports Plus. With all due respect, I find the other reviews for this place way off. For anyone who either doesn't eat from a silver spoon or is looking to try a winter OR summer sport for the first time, this is a great place. The guy runs an honest business with used but professionally maintained equipment and clothing at a fraction of the cost you'd find at REI, and some of it originally came from there! I found a Burton snowboard, $350 new, for $80. Decent selection of boots...to boot. Gigantic selection of skies/poles/boots as well. With a good selection of kids clothing, too, it's perfect for little rascals who are going to outgrow equipment in a year. The inventory rotates frequently as many people buy equipment from them and put it back on consignment when they want to upgrade. The best time to go for snow gear is late summer. As others have mentioned, they tune boards & skis. You can also buy snowshoes but most of their selection is new. Shop owner mentioned they don't get very many on consignment. Oh well. I believe they also have snowshoes for rent. I brought my wife's baseball glove to be repaired. She has had it for 35 years so clearly had sentimental value. They called a few days later and told me the glove was done, but when I went to the store, they couldn't find it. After about an hour of waiting around, I finally left, confident it would turn up. They called me a while later and it turned out the glove was picked up by the wrong customer, who then sent it to California. Fortunately, they got a hold of him, and he agreed to send it back. Several weeks later I got a call that the glove was finally back. Anyway, honest mistake, the two gloves had very similar ticket numbers.....so that's not the reason for my 2 star review. Here's the rub: When I went back to pick up the glove, they still charged me for the repair! It was $20, and that's mostly labor, so not much cost in waiving it. They didn't even offer to deliver or mail the thing to me as a courtesy. I'm sure had I made a scene I could have gotten it waved (well...maybe), but I'm not that kind of guy, so I walked out just shaking my head in disbelief. Understand, I'm by no means cheap. This has nothing to do with the $20. It's the principal. I waited around for an hour the first time, thought they'd lost my wife's glove, then waited another two weeks.....then had to drive all the way back (I live 10 miles south), and they still charged me for the repair. If it were my business, there is no possible way I would even think about charging a customer for such a mess up. In fact, I would given the customer the glove and offered to do another one free....and apologized profusely. Not a horrible store (pretty high prices though), but don't expect them to care a whole lot if something goes sideways. I wouldn't give them anything of value to sell. Ever. read more

This is probably one of the best new/ used sports equipment stores I have fallen into in a long..long time. They have a great variety of whatever you are looking for. I initially started looking for a used snowboard for my 8 yr old, then I found kids ski jackets for $25, boots, skates, skiis, rackets, snowshoes, lacrosse sticks, golf clubs, bags, Geez - I didn't even go upstairs, but I saw everything from hockey equip to leotards. I just purchased a set of used skis and boots from here and the experience was great. I know that when shopping for used stuff you can't have high expectations on inventory and I must say that I was quite impressed with how much they had. This will vary though however the guys mentioned that the inventory constantly fluctuates. In addition to the inventory, the staff was awesome! Joe helped me pick out the skis and was able to explain what was best based on my skill level, height, etc. He was so friendly and attentive. Even though the shop was busy he made sure to check back with me. I'm excited to get out and try out my skis. I will definitely be back if I need to check out anymore equipment. read more

Excellent customer service and knowledge by the Sports Plus staff. Such a great experience buying my skis here! As a first time skier, I had no idea about boot or ski sizing. The staff helped me figure out my boot size (national sports retailer couldn't/didn't do that), explained the differences in boot & ski brands, what' is best for different experience levels, recommended the best equipment for beginners, etc. I learned so much! Prices are very reasonable - this is a consignment shop so things can be new or gently used. Any sport equipment you may need is here - tennis, rollerblading, ski/snowboard/snowshoe, hockey, biking, etc. As my husband put it - it's like CraigsList but without the hassle of emailing and meeting with people. Based on Megan H's review, and my own phone call to Sports Plus, I decided to stop by the store when I got into Denver on my CO boarding trip. They said that they would have a good selection of used equipment. Since I was a beginner, I wanted something reliable without the large investment in new gear. I was sadly disappointed. Really, the only selection they had at the time was used, not so good, children's equipment. I did score a pair of snowboarding boots that were okay and fairly priced, but other than that I wasn't too impressed. This seems like a great place to get some work done on your equipment though, so for locals who need experts, this is probably a great place. They seem to have a lot of things, but it's a very local store. I ended up buying all my gear at REI. Now REI is a place I recommend. read more

This has been the go-to for all of my sporting equipment-bikes, skis, racquets, racks, backpacks... you name it... for 15 years. I always enjoy shopping there and I even like the staff/owners... despite their general snobbishness--to varying degrees-- and dissmissive answers to sporting goods questions. I'll be there next week for this year's ski equipment for my kids, and probably some telemark or randonnée gear for me. One generally feels that they don't deperately need your business. Kind of like in Europe. They aren't cloying toadies, but you can usually get out of there with some good gear and not feel like you've been taken for a ride. The negative reviews here are puzzling. I had to get my 7 year old son everything he needed to start hockey lessons. I have never had to buy hockey equipment before. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the front door. They helped me fit him and tell me what would be best as he grows. They were a huge help seeing I know nothing about hockey equipment. They had everything I needed used and it was all in great shape. This is a New and Used Sporting Equipment Store with a really nice selection of bikes, snowboards (especially for children) and snowboarding shoes. They also have golf clubs, lacrosse equipment, and rollerblading stuff. Sports Plus is now my go to place for any sporting gear. I have had great experiences with the staff and the selection of used sporting goods. My wife and I initially went to Sports Plus looking to buy our first pair of skis, ski boots, ski helmets and poles. The staff was very helpful and pulled out all the best skis that would fit our size, giving us the plus and minus of each ski. We each ended up with high quality skis that were about 3 years old but in very good condition, and better value than anywhere in the internet. We found all of our other ski equipment here as well, so it was all around an affordable 1 stop shop. Since then, I have been back to buy roller-blades at a great deal, and my newest buy just a few days ago which were ski-blades (short skis) which ended up being very highly rated and in good condition for 1/3 the market price. Highly recommend checking them out whenever you have need of any sporting equipment before buying new. read more

I recently sold my old ski gear that had just been collecting dust. I figured why not make a few bucks instead of just giving them away. I took in 10 year old skis, boots, poles and a helmet. Three months later or so, I had a little jingle in my pockets. My only gripe is that they won't contact you when your gear on consignment sells. Granted, that was not a surprise and was spelled out in their contract, BUT, this is the 21st century. Get with the times and go with a computerized inventory system. Oh, I don't know, maybe send out some emails with current statuses. Just a thought. read more

My wife came in here looking to get some used ski boots. Shes a shy person, so she doesn't really like people coming to talk to her as she shops, but shes not rude. As soon as we walked in we were asked what we were in for and how we were doing. We said "oh, we're just looking around!" Which is nice person code for "leave me alone." So two minutes later as my wife was picking a couple boots out to try, the sales rep comes up and realizes we're looking at boots, at which point he blitzkriegs my wife with questions about what level skier she is, how long she's been skiing, what kind of skis she skis on. My wife is annoyed, but politely answers the questions. As she sits down to try on the boots SHE PICKED OUT, the salesperson said, "no, those probably won't work," and FORCIBLY TAKES THEM FROM HER. What the hell kind of experience is that? NEVER have I seen such exceptional rudeness from a sales rep. After that, my wife patiently waited, seething, as this dullard gave her three different pairs of boots to try which weren't comfortable for her feet. After those three he decided there was no helping us, and recommended we drive 15 miles out of town to some other custom boot shop. We were polite, kind and patient. You were rude, exasperated and pushy. Never will I ever return, how dare you treat people like they're morons. PS. My wife is a Ski Instructor, she's been skiing for almost 20 years. I found a brand new but used Callaway pitching wedge which I can't hit but still... score! They have a great selection of used golf clubs and accessories. Especially for ladies which is hard to find.
