I love these folks! I went in to get a couple of new tubes installed after having trouble changing one myself due to stubborn tires. Not only did they replace the tubes, but showed me a couple of tricks to make it easier for me next time. He then took the time to ensure brakes were adjusted, shifting cables were clean and adjusted, and even checked the headset to ensure it was safely snug. I couldn't be happier! read more

I am finally writing this review because I recently went to a real bike shop. Wow, what a difference. This store lacks the professionals needed to provide quality service. My tires exploded in my car because the tech overfilled my tires. Then, they tried to blame my tires instead of taking responsibility. Oh, and I have tubless tires, which means the liquid got all over my car. Next, they claimed they couldn't fix my squeaky brakes because I need a special type of brake pad. Just took them to another shop and they were able to swap them out. Lastly, their tune-ups literally take weeks to complete. How is that even possible?! Really cute store setup, but honestly, complete airheads fixing bikes who actually know nothing. I might as well try to fix my bike instead. Go somewhere else on Colfax to get bike repair services. You won't be disappointed! read more

This a cute store inside the Denver Hardware store. You'll walk in to the hardware store, head straight to the back and up the stairs. The store is very clean and very neatly set up! I was able to get assistance from the employee in finding a bike horn. He was very helpful. I also looked around at some of the bicycles in the store. The way it's set up allows you to be able to browse and it made it very welcoming. Now I want a bicycle! LOL read more

Every once and awhile I get surprised by phenomenal service. I had been gifted a bike, and after riding it for a bit, the chain started to skip in certain gears. I watched some YouTube videos, twisted the things I could twist and adjusted things I thought I could adjust, but I only made things worse. I decided to swallow my pride and take it to a professional, which is exactly what I found at Denver Bicycle. I walked my bike up the stairs and before I knew it, by bike was up in the shop, and the technician (owner) was operating like a surgeon. So fast and so skilled that I was jaw dropped. All said, he must have tuned up and checked that bike top to bottom in less than ten minutes, then only charged me for the issue at hand - $20 bucks to fix the derailer issue. Lubed up the whole thing. Bike rides like new. Highly recommend! read more

I took my bike out of the garage a couple of days after a long ride on the Highline only to find a completely flat front tire and low back tire. I called Denver Bicycle and asked when I could bring it in - I brought it in the next day and in 5 minutes he fixed both tires. VERY fast and reasonable price. YAY, Denver Bicycle. If I could give 0 stars I would. I came in for a tire change and the clerk was not interested in assisting at all. Would not let us leave our bike and basically acted like he wanted us to go elsewhere. If I were Denver Bicycle I would not want this type of person representing my business. Parking is a joke Drove here hoping to pick up some things i needed for a bike ride. Actually drove through Boulder, to come to this place specifically (it was near my destination) They should warn people that if more than 10 people choose to visit at the same time, that they should either take a bus or decide to park a mile away in a sketchy area. I had an issue with my front break on an old mountain bike. I was thinking that I would have to leave it somewhere to be fixed. The bike shops near my home were booking at least a month out for repairs. I found this shop via Google and saw the great reviews. Bruce was super friendly and knowledgeable. And, he fixed my bike while I waited. Yay!! As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a small shop on top of an ACE hardware store. Bruce insisted on carrying my bike down the stairs for me after the repair. I live in Highlands Ranch but I will be coming back here for any bike repairs in the future. This is a tiny bike shop on the second floor of an ACE hardware store. They guys know what they're talking about, they have a small but really useful collection of bikes, parts and tons of advice. Its basically like getting extorted when you are just trying to get your kid's flat tire repaired. They charged us $36.00 to replace a tube. Break that down for a second: the tube is like $6.00 max. that leaves us with $30.00 in labor. It takes maybe 5 minutes to change the tube. So... we're being charged roughly $360.00 per hour to change a bike tube??? The people who work there are fine though not exactly the most eager to help. I think they may feel a little embarrassed by what they are told to charge. Anyway, not a huge deal but it just doesn't sit well when you feel like you are getting taken advantage of/exploited/ripped off. I'm sure they have a canned excuse - probably giving us cage-free all organic tubes or something; pffft.... wont be back. JLM read more

I have taken my bike here 5 x in the past year. Last season they fixed my issue for a fair price and were nice. This season I have been 4x to fix the same flat tire. They replace inner tube then it is flat 2 days later. One week it was cold I did not even ride for 7-8 days - pulled it out to ride- flat. They tell me I am getting thorns, "lots in Colorado ". This despite the other bike that rides the same paved cherry creek trail has had zero flats. The 4 th time I called and spoke w a manager in detail telling him the situation and requesting he replace the entire front wheel if necessary. I dropped it off in the morning, they were to call when ready. They did not call. I called an hour before closing and was told it was ready . When I picked up they had only changed inner tube AGAIN! Guy that fixed had no idea the story, said he changed inner tube that morning and it would be fine. Absolutely ridiculous! Another sunny day, another flat. I will hit the trail with my cheaper bike that is not as great to ride but always ready to go They do NOT listen or do what you ask. Do not go here! read more

Don't go! Took bike in to replace 2 tire tubes, they didn't re-attach the brakes, took the bike back so they could fix the brakes, brakes still don't work properly. The bike won't stop! Called the shop and ask for a refund for just the service, I was still willing to pay for the tubes. Was told I could get a refund, but the Accountant would have to call me back. Accountant calls me, tells me she will give me a full refund then changes her mind. Tells me since I didn't come in for a brake service, I got what I paid for (As a reminder, see above - The bike won't stop!), If I want the brakes fixed, I would have to bring the bike in a 3rd time! Called my cc company and disputed the charge. This shop is awful and the Accountant is the worst! read more

I've been to this bicycle shop twice now. I'm a bike novice and always have lots of questions. All the staff there have been very patient with me and took the time to ensure all my questions were answered. I had a tire that kept going flat and I went during their flat tire repair hour, and they were able to fix my tire and I was in and out in less then 20 minutes. I always go by myself and have never felt any sort of gender discrimination. I'm am definitely sensitive to this and would never support a store where the staff treated me any differently just because of my gender. I will definitely be returning for any of my bicycle needs and would recommend this shop to anyone! read more

I rarely post but this place has terrible customer service. I went this past week for a break check and they ended up repairing my break issues for a $20 fee but they did such a poor a job I had to go back 2 more times so that they can finally fix it. One of the bike techs that works there tried to brush me off for the 3rd and final time I was there the bike tech said they don't guarantee they can fix the problem which is joke. I highly recommend going somewhere else! read more

I've used Denver Bicycle for nearly all my bike repairs for about five years, but that ended today. When I called, they said they did not sell the wide inner tubes needed for my son's bike. I found these at another store, bought them, then brought in the tubes and wheels for repair by Denver Bicycle. They refused to work on it because "we don't do repairs with used parts." Which where unused and they don't sell new. Some places are impervious to logic or loyalty, and based on my experience, this shop is one of them. That said, if brain-dead customer service and mediocre prices don't bother you, Denver Bicycle is fine. If you'd find this profoundly irritating too, we're fortunate that better places are available. read more

Took a mountain bike in for a re-haul and tune up. The guy running the shop seems to know what he was doing and talked a good game. Did Falcon Trail yesterday at the Air Force Academy. The ride is moderate in difficulty. The seat fell off half way on the trail and was not properly installed. I could not get the bike into lowest available gear. I had to get off the bike and manually move the frontring to the smallest size. I spent about $250 there on the rehaul, tune up and accessories. There guys really let me down. read more

I've been taking my bicycles to Matt for repairs and tune-ups for a few years now. Always friendly, very prompt and communicative. I grew up going to a local bike shop for service so I like that personal attention and name recognition that does not exist in big-box bike or sports stores. I'm surprised at some of the other reviewers that claimed lack of inventory as a concern. If you want that go to a big-box store or go online. But again you won't receive that level of friendly neighborhood service. read more

Great place for newbee's, I love that it is a super tiny local bike shop and the guys seem to know what they are talking about. The problem with a tiny, local bike shop is they don't have the room to carry the interesting inventory you can find at other big shops. But for me who needs tubes, lube, grip tape and patch kits its perfect and I come here every time I need something like that or I need a bit of advise about my bike. It should get 5 stars for being local, nice and convenient. But 1 star for selection and brows value. Don't seek it out but if you live close enough to ride to it. Go to it! read more

They informed me that there is NO CHARGE to check out a possible used bike purchase. Matt (I believe that was his name) was polite, efficient, and very pleasant. He was also quite dreamy. It pains me to write this, but I've never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully than 10 minutes ago. Sad thing is I just spent over $100 in repairs at this shop 2 days ago and was happy with my overall experience. Maybe it's just the weekend staff that sucks. When I brought my bike in during the week, the worker (can't remember his name, but always wears a NY Yankees hat and use to be in the music biz) was knowledgable, kind and professional. Even repaired my Trek a few days early. Today, however, was a totally different experience. I brought my 11 year old's bike in because of a flat front tire and a broken front brake. The dark hair worker took a quick look at my bike and sez, we don't work on a chain-store bought bikes (meaning a bike from Target, Walmart etc...). Then proceeded to berate me and my selection of bike. When I ask him where could I bring it for repair, like a punk he answered, "maybe the recycling bin". Its one thing to not work on the bike, I get it, but to be ridiculed because my 11year old doesn't have a bike that could win the Tour de France was truly unprofessional. I even got stopped in the parking lot by another customer who witnessed the encounter and he said sarcastically, "Wow!! That was some customer service!!" Its a shame because our family has a total of six bikes and I have brought in 3 for repairs since I moved here 2 years ago. I will not be stepping in this shop ever again. I wanted to give a 1 rating but since this was the first bad experience I gave them a 2. Maybe just the weekend guy is the problem, but if I treated any of my customers, let alone a repeat customer, like this I'd be out of business. read more

Not a bike shop for anyone who has ridden a bike for more than a couple of days. If you are a serious cyclist, you will be disappointed by the selection of components and riding gear, also the staff doesn't seem to have much knowledge past casual commuting. If you are a commuter, again you will be disappointed by the selection. If you are *brand* new to cycling, I would really strongly suggest you get a second opinion - perhaps Wheatridge Cycles, or just about any of the shops up in Boulder (but not necessarily Bicycle Village). Also, this is a store within an Ace hardware, which is a little disorienting at first. It being a very small shop, with low selection and lack of expert knowledge means I would only shop here in an emergency. (In fact, I was looking for some inner tubes to fit a 26x1.375 tire and they did not have them in 1mm rubber, so they tried to sell me the 4mm ones at twice the price. Not cool.) This might seem nit-pickey, but this is a cycling shop with NO bicycle parking out front. I had to lock up to a street sign. No bike racks anywhere. Weird. I will be going elsewhere for my cycling needs. read more

This place is a gem. Anna and Derek are sweet, wise in the way of bikes, and generous with their time and attention. Prices are more than reasonable. Darren spent an hour installing new shifters for me and only charged me for the shifters! I walked in with my bike along with two friends so 3 bikes all together and the guy working at the time was rude making me feel like an idiot for asking certain questions I wasn't 100% about, not only that but when he went to check on my bike he looked at it for 30 seconds & said he couldn't do anything and couldn't give me an explanation as to why, he looked completely clueless so it's upsetting walking into a bike shop to expect to speak to someone knowledgeable only to be almost pushed out saying there was nothing they could do for either of us. read more

If you want to be threatened with legal action for simply offering constructive feedback to the management then shop here. I was a loyal customer for multiple years. Found a leak in my tube they had just replaced so I brought it in. The tech says he cannot find the leak and asks me to, within seconds of him handing it to me I could hear the leak and pointed it out. I say i think the tube was improperly installed and they respond with "There are a lot of thorns in Colorado" When I hadn't even ridden it since the original service. They charged me for a patch kit and used it in shop, did not stop the leak so I went back and made a complaint. The management continually refuted they do not do patches after they had just done one for me in the shop and threatened to sue me when I asked for a refund and mentioned leaving a negative review. DO NOT SHOP HERE. The techs are unqualified and lazy and the management is unruly. read more

Wow........we will NEVER go to this establishment again. About two weeks ago my husband purchased two new tire tubes for my old Cannondale bicycle (had a flat and one tube to keep as a spare). After installing the tube at home it would not hold air and appeared to be defective. Today he returned to the store and not only did they charge us for another tube (Slime Self-Sealing Tube) and labor (which was fine), when I called to inquire about the cost of just a total tire replacement the guy laughed at me and said he'd "helped about a dozen old men in the last 40 minutes." I hung up. We are into this simple fix for about $70. Sarcastic and unhelpful and would not give us any type of even (minor) credit to today's fix from the purchase of two weeks ago. I took my wife's mountain bike in today, just needed some sort of adjustment to help fix the brake pad and I also wanted to ask about a minor 'tune up' for it too. Not only did they do the adjustment for free, getting the brakes back working, they took the time to adjust the handlebars a bit too. When I asked about the tuneup, they checked out the tires/chain/etc. and told me they thought I didn't need to spend the $$ today, the bike was in decent condition. I left the shop with a working bike, and no charge! I certainly appreciated their honesty and I'll be back with all our bikes in the future when we need service. Great guys!! read more
