What more could anyone ask for out of a bike shop? The staff was super friendly, all of them were very knowledgeable and experienced, and they have a full service repair and retail facility. From a COVID standpoint, everyone was wearing masks and they had hand sanitizer stations around the store - I felt very comfortable. Tom was extra helpful and spent extra time with me talking about mountain biking and opportunities for my young son to learn more about it. So much of the experience was about great service and friendly attitudes it made me want to come back just to hang out. We had our wheel fixed, tire repaired and bought some accessories - no appointment, in and out in 30 minutes and the prices were actually better than the internet. I recommend Bike World if you are buying or servicing your ride - can't go wrong! read more

I just had a great experience with Bike World of Urbandale. I needed a set of wheels laced up with new hubs for my mountain bike and their technician Steve Lambert was highly recommended. He did an excellent job on the lacing and was very informative about you set up. Dave helped me get checked in and finalize the sale when I went to pick them up. He is a great guy and I look forward to doing business with them again! 7-30-20 Just went back to have the wheels inspected and spokes re-torqued. Excellent customer service! Totally satisfied! I have avoided this place because I assumed it was expensive. Yesterday I had a bicycle serviced there and I found out that there is a culture in the store that is very customer oriented. Service was very impressive, and the price was fair. Everyone was very helpful and I was surprised by the whole experience This seems like a place that makes great effort to satisfy customers. I spoke to at least four different employees, visiting the store five times in one day about a couple different issues. And everyone of those employees made a great impression and where are the types of employees that you want as a business owner. Overall I have to highly recommend the store read more

After last weekend, I will never go anywhere else for my bike gear or fix-ups. My family and I went to purchase some new road bikes and were greeted by Steve who helped us the entire time. He was extremely down to earth and knowledgeable about anything and everything bike related... even my "dumb" questions. The rest of the staff was extremely kind and caring as well. We took our one year old daughter in, and they played and talked to her. Their selection is great, prices extremely reasonable, but their staff is seriously one in a million. Tom and Matt are super great. My wheelchair tube was popped and I mentioned how expensive a new tube would be, so Tom volunteered to take a look and see what the problem was. Turns out it was just a small hole in the tube, so he also volunteered to patch it, free. I tried to insist on giving him some cash but he refused, and both Tom and Matt were pleasant and kind. Bought a bike at the warehouse. Sent to Bike World on Douglas for accessories and was told to be sure and ask for a discount there since I just dropped big coin on a bike. Bike World sold me accessories with a modest discount. Was told to go back to the Warehouse with the assurance that they would be able to install my purchases there. Back to the warehouse to have accessories installed, but the fellow there was too busy. Everyone I dealt with was extremely kind, helpful, courteous. Will go back again. read more

My son's bike had a problem with the rear tire. First trip they "fixed" it on Saturday and on Tuesday (this is important) I was back with the tire to see what could be done. The tire wasn't fixable so they did refund the repair charge to me. That was all fine here is where we started to have an issue the wheel was one that needed ordered, I was told then that they would order it and call me when it would be in and that it would only be a couple of days. Come Friday no call so my husband stopped in Saturday to see if it was in or what was going on. He was told there were no problems that it should be in on Monday. Ok, Monday i received a call asking what type of mount & brakes the bike has so they can order the tire. My son needs this bike for work. You strung us along for almost a week and it was never ordered? They only order on Mondays... But not once till Monday did anyone tell us that. At all. Moral of this tale go to bar bike shop where it will be in stock and $20 cheaper... Don't tell a customer it will be here before its ordered! read more

I have known about Bike World's outstanding service since I got serious about riding and began patronizing this store a couple of years ago, but it wasn't until our bicycles were stolen in a recent burglary that we discovered how much we could depend on our trusted bike store. They quickly provided us with detailed records about our purchases and all of the improvements we had made to and accessories we had added on to our bikes, so that we could provide that information to the police and our insurance company. The weekend following the burglary, we were in purchasing new bikes. Thomas is excellent and has a knack for recommending a few bikes from their large inventory that are just what you're looking for. I also appreciate that he is helpful, but not pushy with the sales. And finally, a shout out to the bike mechanics at the store: I am a bike commuter and needed my bike hooked up with fenders, lights, and a rack so that I could be back on my way by Monday morning. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Bike World as we had a horrible experience with them. After they put on a bike rack, it fell off in the middle of an intersection. Luckily no one was hurt. We took it back as all the bikes were broken or ruined. After much conversation, they finally fixed or made good on the bikes but not once did they apologize for the situation. Their costumer service was horrible as they were rude when dealing with us. read more

Best customer service ever. I bought my bike there a couple of years ago and then when my mom was looking I recommended Bike World. We were so busy the week/weekend that she wanted to get one and it didn't look like we were going to make it in before they closed. I gave them a call and they were happy to stay open late so my mom could get here bike. They didn't rush us out and even installed the basket and back rack she purchased.
