I hear so much about this place so I stopped in to check it out. Was on a quick break down town San Jose and was craving a smoothie and this was the closest place to me. Service could be better, but where to order was a bit confusing. There's two registers is what it looks like, but one place to order which would be to the right. There was a young lady that was ordering to the far left so we stood behind her thinking that's where you order. After standing there for 10 minutes and the lady behind the counter to the right looking at us finally said did you need to order. Looks like she was in a rush and a bit snippy. I ordered a smoothie I forgot which one but it wasn't great. Very water down. Overall this place is ok.

Having traveled abroad this is a true European style bakery! We are here yesterday for breakfast, had great service and the food was fantastic! We liked it so much we're here for breakfast again today! If you can manage, I highly recommend slowing down a bit and having your breakfast here. Have a breakfast sandwich or authentic pastry, and a coffee drink prepared with care out of a real cup!

Would not recommend it. I was staying at the hotel next door and thought I'd walk in because it looked good. I got the vegetarian quiche and a cup of black coffee. Coffee was meh and the quiche was worse. They served it with a pickle and an orange . The place fails at the most basic level. Orange construction cones immediately when you walk through the door, holes in the ceiling, and I heard this loud incessant beeping behind the counter the entire time I was there. Really annoying. So basically the food was poor and the ambiance was terrible. Staff were friendly. I'm on the hunt for a better coffee shop.

My friend and I were craving some baguettes after watching a show based on a story set in paris, so we stopped by! So many items to choose from! Was looking for a dessert and wasn't expecting to actually buy a baguette (lol), but they had a fresh batch that just came out so we bought it!! It was very soft but chewy and perfect as a snack with some butter! It was also very delicious as is. I also got a pistachio mousse, and it was yummy too!

Severe refrigeration issues can watch the mold grow

Moldy bread. That's what I found sitting right on the counter at Bijan Bakery & Café in San Jose. Absolutely disgusting. I decided to give this place a second chance after a bad experience before -- big mistake. The refrigerated cases were fogged up and dripping with moisture, which screams refrigeration problems and potential bacteria and mold growth. Not something you ever want to see where food is stored. I grabbed what looked like a wrapped iced cookie -- turns out it wasn't sealed, tasted stale, and was so hard it could break a tooth. One bite and threw that away. Then I spotted the "fresh" sweet bread with visible mold all over the bottom. At this point, it's beyond disappointing -- it's a health hazard. I have no idea how this place is still open. Someone from the health department really needs to take a look.

My wife and I used to frequent their other Bijan Bakery & Cafe location off of Saratoga Ave & Kiely Blvd (closed down). But we've come here a few times over the years to get some cookies, pastries, or dessert. They are known for their Princess Cake. Inside and outside dining available. Its a very casual place. Overall, 3.5 stars but rounding up because we got our wedding cake from them many moons ago and people still remember how tasty each cake flavor was!

We had an amazing cake tasting at Bijan Bakery, and it was truly a memorable experience! Mr. Bijan himself took such wonderful care of us and he's every bit the legend people say he is. The cakes were absolutely delicious, light, moist, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. You can tell every creation is made with passion and decades of expertise. Bijan Bakery is more than just a bakery; it's a beloved part of Silicon Valley specifically in downtown San Jose. I feel so lucky that Mr. Bijan will be baking my milestone birthday cake! Highly recommend to anyone who wants the very best.

Wow! What a marvelous selection of bakery goods! Indoor and outdoor seating. Service is professional and friendly. Situated on a promenade with lots of foot traffic and some musicians to add to the atmosphere. If you value culture this is a place to go.

Bathroom.

Bathrooms were disgusting. I couldn't capture the smell in the picture. Both macrons tasted like they'd been left in the refrigerator, uncovered for several days. Con panna was not a true con panna; it was more like a coffee with an abundance of whipped cream.

Great location, just across from Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Wasn't much crowded on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of pastries to choose from. But most felt mediocre.

It is a hidden gem at the Bay Area. It is amazing place when you can have a European style food experience with high exquisite desserts options combined with good variety on sandwiches , fresh squeezed orange juice and finish up with a broad selection of coffee ! You won't be disappointed

Temperatures were just under 90 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The air conditioning was great in here, not freezing cold but cool enough to be comfortable. There were a few other tables of people with their laptops out, and I was excited to see that they have expanded since my last visit and added more seating for customers. The lotus milk tea is still one of my favorites in the whole city. We sat at a table so there was no outlet, but I can't remember if there were outlets along the walls for the booth seating. The WiFi worked well and if there was background music it was not being blasted loudly. I would definitely keep this spot top of mind if I needed a reliable spot to work remote again, especially since there is now more seating than there used to be. Looking forward to coming by again soon!

There was a mix of people studying, working, and chatting with friends; it's a very lively community spot. Despite how chaotic it was, the space was generally clean and the service was great. The cashier made sure to get our names and address us by them. The decor is beautiful, feeling intentionally designed. I thought it was really cool that they have a slow coffee bar area specifically for pour overs (I think) where tech isn't allowed, so people are just supposed to sit and enjoy their coffee. I've never seen that before in a coffee shop. The menu is extensive. Since it was later in the day, the baked goods were half off, which was a nice surprise. I got a blueberry latte and an Asian fusion focaccia bread. Blueberry latte - I liked this! The blueberry flavor was subtle and not overly sweet or artificial tasting. It added a light fruity note to the coffee without overpowering it. Fusion focaccia bread - This was tasty, but I felt the original price was steep ($12). My piece was around 6" x 3". The shiitake mushroom flavor was strong and I loved the addition of scallions and Chinese sausage sprinkled throughout the bread. Overall, this is such a cool addition to coffee culture in the South Bay. It feels like shop from a big city like SF, NYC, or Chicago instead of little ol' SJ. The ambiance and options are solid, and it has a vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. You can be a casual coffee drinker or a coffee snob and it will be a satisfying experience.

I would like more corn cheese throughout the bread. Good service, nice space with seating, but can get busy. Please do clean up after yourself if you decided to sit.

It's definitely a more unique flavor, but really comforting if you like deeper, roasted notes. The mocha was smooth and classic, well-balanced between chocolate and coffee without being overly sugary. Service was friendly and efficient, even when it got a bit busy. Each drink is hand-whisked, so well worth the wait. Their cold foams were delicious and super flavorful as well. The drink has a creamy salted coconut milk cold foam on top and some mango puree and glutinous rice on the bottom. Once everything was mixed, the mango flavor does get lost unfortunately. But still, the drink was amazing and rich. The guava li-hing matcha was sooo vibrant! I loved how the tropical flavor of the guava cold foam sprinkled with li-hing balanced out the earthy matcha. The only big difference is the vinyl that you get your drinks out of (which is a small change). When you get to Playback, there is a kiosk located near the front entry to order drinks. While this is convenient and typical for drink places, I do think it removes the homey feel to cafes that you get when you can interact with their baristas, and the layer of community is a bit disconnected. While I was there, I ordered the Teddy Graham latte to try out since it seemed like one of their staple drinks when I did my research. The drink itself was good, toasted, with a nice subtle graham flavor. I would say though for $9 per drink, it was overpriced. Overall, to be honest, this is a good area to work, and study with friends, I would come back here for this alone. I would think of the extra drink cost as work from home fee/tax. :)
