Big Hairy Monster - Eva's signature layered cut - Hair Salons Near Me - Denver, Colorado

LGBTQ-LMNoP friendly! Eva saved my life by cleaning up my undercut previous barbershop's jacked up. Will definitely be coming back

I've been coming to Meryl for 4 years now and she's amazing! She's helping me gray gracefully on my terms and it's always exactly what I want. Her cuts are perfect. I brought her my teen when he was ready to cut his long hair, she helped his nerves with the big change. I always walk out looking and feeling awesome. Thanks Meryl! read more

Eva fixed my disastrous blonde that someone did and made me feel like a queen! Amazing hair cut as well!!! The music too was a vibe.

Great experience! My daughter's hair looks great and she was super happy! Staff is super friendly and do a great job.

My hair is a bog of curly messy grows every direction noodly ringlets that for most of my life I have just buzzed off and started fresh once I start looking like one of Peter Pan's lost boys. Not terribly long ago my wife suggested I get a "big boy haircut" and recommended I see Nikki at Big Hairy Monster. I have been blown away at her ability to take my crazy hair and give it magnificent direction and a style that maintains its freshness even after a couple months of growth. I also have a beard, that I meticulously manicure on my own. On my last visit Nikki offered to clean it up (I was planning on doing it after I got home from the haircut) and I fearfully allowed to tend to my face-garden. She did amazing! Better than I could have myself. Moral of the story ... Men (and bearded ladies) let Nikki trim your beard, she has skillz. I love the atmosphere of Big Hairy Monster. Warm, laid back, and comfortable. All the skill and talent of a high end salon with none of the snooty attitude or insane prices. I will go here til I die. read more

Big Hairy Monster - View of the shop from the front door. Good people and a cute, friendly shopdog. - Hair Salons Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Loved my experience here with Hannah! Long story short, I tried cutting my own bangs at home last night and it did NOT go well. Hannah was able to get me in this morning last minute, and totally fixed my hair. Thank god for her Now I have cute layers and curtain bangs, and my hair no longer looks like a weird mullet. Pricing is also very fair here in my opinion. Will continue to come back :) read more

I have been going to the same hairstylist for 3.5 years since I moved to Colorado, and finally decided to mix it up. I read so many reviews for different salons and had been following Holli's Instagram for awhile. After seeing her amazing work on blondes and full highlights, I decided to book my first appointment. I was completely blown away! I can't believe it took me this long to make the switch. Holli is very professional and easy to talk to. She listened to everything I wanted and made my hair dreams come true! My full highlight was done to perfection, and Holli made sure I was happy with her work before I left the salon. She even told me that if after a couple of days there was something I didn't like about my hair to please come back so that she can perfect it for me. Holli went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with her work. A true professional and artist! I almost didn't write this review because I don't want the secret to get out ...she is the best! read more

i have found the salon of my dreams! Woot! This is not your fancy, shiny, spotless salon - I'll let you know that right away. It's an older space, nothing outstanding, casual, dog's running around your feet. However the walls are covered in fun art, the hairdressers and super cute and friendly, and you feel welcome the moment you walk in. We all know how difficult it can be to try a new stylist, but Holli was referred to me by a mutual friend so I was willing to give it a shot. And I'm sooo glad I did! I went in not really knowing what I wanted to do - just that I want to grow it out and add some fun color. She took charge and gave me a kick ass color job - red highlights throughout, but subtle enough that my work won't mind! On the cutting front she managed to keep my length while cleaning it up and giving me a great style. All this while being super friendly and down to earth, chatting with me the whole time, without that akward "what do I talk about-ness" with the usual stylist. Thx Holli! Can't wait for my next appointment! read more

I LOVE big hairy monster! Not only is my cut and color perfect every time, but they go the extra mile and dump their trash in their own dumpsters which they pay for! Great salon, great place, great people!!! read more

I love Big Hairy Monster since it's birth! And I especially love my ladies there! Not only that, I love their dumpster in which they place their own trash bags in. Don't hate, just appreciate! Big Hairy Monster is rad, best hairdressers I have ever known! read more

I don't always get haircuts, but when I do...I will go to Big Hairy Monster. First thing is to understand who I am, and how uncomfortable going to a new hair-cutter-off person is. That fear of change and secretly knowing that after just a few snip snips, you'll be leaving with your long blonde locks transformed into some strange Dutch windmill repairmen doo. Stop the cycle! It's simple. Just go here, have Holli cut your hair..badda bing badda boom, you won't feel like a creature leaving the shop...you'll feel like a man(woma,n or person), get invited to Second Saturdays, and end up buying some amazing vinyl creatures next door at Plastic Chapel...but that's another review. read more

I've been coming here for around 10 years. Love the gals. They never shut up about how proud they are of their dumpster. It's been a running joke for years about hair inside it. Kinda creepy when you think about it too hard, actually. read more

Best haircut ever!!! I just moved here from Philly and was looking for a new salon to deal with my unruly curly hair. Suzanne seemed to get my hair immediately and cut beautiful layers into it. My hair looks awesome, and I am beyond thrilled. But the best part? Her dog Terrence sat on my lap for most of the hair cut. Love, love love this place. read more

Been looking for a place in the hood to get a men's cut and Holli was awesome! Definetly coming back here and recommending this place!

I love this place! Get the best haircuts of my life with shrinking hair even. I'm a man, Man, and am treated well by Holli and all even though I am kinda old for their customer profile. It's a great place. Fun. Very skilled hair folks. The best I've known and I have been around some. I say, Make an appointment. You'll be pleased. Mike W read more

My head loves this place so very much. Suzanne is a miracle worker. BHM is a very relaxed atmosphere full of laughter and awesomeness. I have pretty difficult hair, and Suzanne doesn't make a fuss over it, she just makes me look pretty amazing. I get compliments on my hair all day long. Some salons might give you some cheap wine, not here. Fresh, cold PBR. Sweet, sweet, new look and a little liquid courage and I ravaged the town. Watch out, here I come. Watch out boy, I'll chew you up. read more

Go there, right now, stop what you are doing and attend this establishment. I have weird hair, I would describe it as mushy? And they make it classy, its like a tuxedo on my face. read more

I made an appointment, got a haircut, like it fine. Didn't really know what I wanted, just that I needed one. Normally I have a sinking feeling post-haircut. Not this time. Right away the girls I know had complimentary, unprompted things to say. Maybe that's just what girls do? Or maybe my hair was terrible before. Maybe it's an amazing haircut. Either way, can't complain. read more

Suzanne has been taking care of me (and my hair) for several years now. The Big Hairy Monster space is cool, and the ladies do a super fine job of tackling my crazy curly tresses. I highly recommend it and am constantly dragging my friends in there to get killer cuts. read more

I am new to Denver and had no idea where to go for a cute haircut, so I chose Big Hairy Monster based on other people's Yelp reviews. I was in a bit of a hair emergency state and Holli gave me an awesome cut. Also, she is super friendly and easy to talk to so you don't feel awkward while getting your haircut. If she gave scalp massages during the shampoo, I would've truly been in Heaven. read more

I have a weird phobia of hairdressers, and I tend ot move from hairdresser to hairdresser because well - different reasons. So - I had to get a hair cut. It had been litterally over a year. I ran across Big Hairy Monster on Yelp and thought it was worth a try. I went to Christi and she was awesome! She was kind, helpful, didn't make me feel stupid and I love my haircut! I will be back! My friend saw her too - and she also loves her haircut! Christi rocks! Thank you! I finally found someone I can go to for a haircut more often! read more

I'm new to Denver and like others previously stated it was my first hair cut here. After doing research and finding out that most places charge $40/45 for a fade it made Big Harry Monster that much more attractive at $20. The lady that cut my hair was really pleasant and nice to talk to. Three of the lady's own the place which they take pride in the place and the job they do. I will definitely be going back for my monthly haircuts. read more

If you want your hair to look amazing you've found the right place. Holli has taken care of my hair and my bangin' bangs for 10 years now and I always look forward to seeing her. My whole family gets our hair cut at BHM, the best, coolest hair cuttin shop in town. Others might try and convince you they're better, but the fact of the matter is that Suzanne, Holli and Kristy are the best of the best. read more

This is the best salon in town. Holli is the only one that is allowed to touch my hair. The BHM has a great vibe about it with great new art displayed every month. read more

Been going to see Nikki for quite a while now and she never disappoints! The salon is always clean and all the girls are awesome! It has a very open at home feeling. As you sit there getting your hair done or whatever the other clients and hair stylists all talk to each other and joke around. I've been in salons before where you feel the tension, this is not that place. If you want an affordable, welcoming, professional... yet super talented hair salon, Big Hairy Monster is your place! Plus... looking for crazy colors? Nikki is the best... hands down! I currently am rocking unicorn hair thanks to this talented lady! read more
