Needing a simple cut, I chose Hairdo because it was our neighborhood salon growing up. Moving back to Colorado, I felt comfortable returning. The first time, I show up and the stylists are busy. No one looks up to acknowledge they have an incoming client. Assuming they were very busy, I just took a seat but after a while, as a guest, you're not sure if they will even see you although the front door does say Walk In's Welcome. After a while longer, I just left to go across the street where they were also busy but at least looked at me entering to say if I could be seen or not. Fast forward four months later, today, I need a cut and decide to try this place again. Learning from last time, I called ahead to see if I shouldn't walk in like I did before. The stylist on the phone said she'd get me in at 5pm. I arrive at 5pm (on a Sunday, they close at 6) and again, neither of the stylists look up at me. They are both busy with clients but I have to make sure to check if my invisible cloak is on and if anyone can see me at all. A man walked in after me, the stylist came to the lobby and brought him over, still not word to me. (Maybe this because men's cuts would have been faster than mine?) It is now past 6PM and no one has said a word to me. Debating on just leaving, no cut... I need to leave at this point...chose to write this review while I wait. Confused and ignored. Got up and headed for the door and still no one looked up. I'm sure they do great work but maybe some extra thought could go into friendliness or customer attention. Don't come here if they give you an appointment and especially don't just Walk In because like me (twice), you might not leave with a cut or even a greeting. Do u know how hard it is to find a stylist and hairdresser?!!!!! I literally fly out of town to get my hair done. But now in Denver, there is this magic place on federal Blvd. I would have never never ever noticed it without yelp. This is the deal. This is not an aveda overhyped overpriced saloon in cherry cheek. These are skilled artists that can cut, blow out, and balayage my hair. I really did not want to tell people about this secret bc I want to keep them all to myself. I like Brenda and the owner Monica but I think everyone is highly skilled here. Things to Note: 1) Balayages are fabulous bc they skilled, understands toner for your specific type of hair and color melts the process. FYI - they are heavy handed on going lighter, so have pictures. But - they know how to not damage my hair! Appointment only and this will take 4-6 hours. No joke, but at least there is wifi. 2) Walk-ins are okay for hair cuts but I would book an appointment 3) $$ are reasonable at $185 for my specific balayage and price will vary starting at $135. Haircuts from $12-$25 and blow outs around $20. 4) They don't do extensions or updos 5) They do wax your eyebrows 6) Parking is impossible during lunch but so what Bottom-line : I won't look like an Asian hooker coming out of this salon with the blonde balayage that I like. this is that trendy salon that I would have missed bc it is in a strip mall. I've been seeing Brenda for about a year now and will definitely keep seeing her. I am very particular with my hair stylists as some just didn't take care of my hair well. Some would just dye color on top of color or bleach/color my hair when it was too damaged. Brenda is very knowledgeable about hair and the science behind it. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE. I got my hair done by Brenda and was originally quoted $185-$245. I ended up paying $383 which included a $13 haircut that I did ask for. Overall I was charged $125 over and the entire time there was no communication of any sort about how much extra bleach would be needed for my hair or how much extra "toner" would be needed. She didn't communicate pricing AT ALL. Not only that but my hair is so brassy and orange. She left orange brass all underneath my hair. When I messaged the owner Monica on Instagram to help fix my brass, she said she'd charge me $100 more to bleach out the brass or I can tone it darker for free. I said I didn't want to have to pay more when I already spent so much and I also didn't want to tone my hair darker when I paid so much to be blonde so I asked for a refund. Monica kept telling me that I need to be understanding as going blonde is a process. Here's the thing though, I understand blonding is a process but I was already BLONDE. My hair was extremely light already so all I asked was for Brenda to bring up my balayage but instead of doing so, she left me with streaks of brass all throughout my hair. Once again I asked for my refund and Monica ended up going off on me saying that since I'm a nail tech I should understand this industry etc. Long story short, I finally got my partial refund of $100 after going back and forth with her. I came in here with an appointment with Monica for a cut and color. I am the type to do an excessive, ridiculous amount of research before I do anything big, which includes my hair. I've been to expensive salons and I've been to the less expensive salons. I personally have just found it depends on the hairdresser, not the salon. I've seen pictures and know of some people that come here for hair color, so I decided to take the leap. I've been walking around with this picture of the hair color I want for months and looking through a ton of pictures at other salons, Hairdo just seemed like the best place to do it. Monica is extremely friendly and for the 3.5hr I was there it was a wonderful transformation for my hair. I started off with brown hair and ended up with exactly what I wanted. I told her I didn't quite want something too light yet and she toned down the ashy color. I walked out with ashy,brown,grayish hair and I am so pleased with the results. Wow! Brenda is a magician with color. Seriously if you have dark hair and thinking of going lighter, come here. I wanted to try balayage for years, but was always hesitant to have someone touch my hair. I've consultants with a few stylists and all have told me it would take multiple sessions. I needed someone who under how to dye my hair. Brenda did just that! She spent 5 hours working on my hair, which was really grown out. Wowwww. I've been on a quest to get a grey ombre since the beginning of this summer. I first went to Clementine's salon and even after 5 visits, my hair did not look like what I wanted it to look like despite bringing in photos, etc. So I decided to give Hairdo a try since I saw pictures of their work on Facebook through a friend. I AM SO GLAD I DID. My hair is BEAUTIFUL - Monica and Tony both did my hair (I have a lot of really long hair) and they evened out all of the banding that the other salon left in my hair. They spent 6 hours and were super nice! I'm usually pretty talkative at salons, but I took an exam this morning so I was exhausted. I also have weird salon chair PTSD because this summer I kept sitting in chairs and leaving unsatisfied, so I was a little anxious.This wasn't an issue because they weren't the kind of people to try and force awkward small talk. Monica was very meticulous in making sure all of my hair was lifting evenly and when coloring my hair, she made sure all of the color was distributed evenly. I'm so happy that she was so cautious, using paperthin sections at a time and re-applying as needed. She even offered to go next door to get me a sandwich since it was around lunch time. At the end, my hair was styled as well! All of the lifting, coloring, and Olaplex treatment over SIX hours only cost me $165 + tip (I spent $200 total). WHAT A STEAL. I was very excited to try this place because it came recommended, but came out a bit disappointed with the result and price. I paid nearly $280 for a below average balayage. I was quoted a lot less, but with some add ons (conditioner and a less than 5 minutes hair trim), I paid over $300 (with tip) for essentially a hair color. I left here angry and upset. I'm still seething about my experience. Called them the next day to express my dissatisfaction and give them a chance to fix it. I was told "We can't do anything about it, wait for it to fade. K. Byeeee" and was rudely hung up on. Came here for a balayage with Tony. Asked for a light Carmel Color and it came out a splotchy ashy blonde. I didn't like it, and he offered to darken it a bit more. I point to a section of darker splotchy hair that was more of my desired color and I guess we were seeing two different areas. After the second time toning my hair, it was essentially black (my natural color and the color I came in with). Essentially, I came out with fried and damaged hair that looked about the same as when I walked in 4 hours prior. I paid close to $200 after tipping for something I didn't ask for and didn't like. Went in for a haircut, asked for an inch off with layers and a trim on my bangs. My bangs that were supposed to just get a trim are now sitting well above my eyebrows, got me looking like Jim carrey in dumb and dumber, -wtf?! I had a very disappointing experience here. I am Asian and naturally my hair color is dark brown to black. My hair was previously colored brown/orange but my roots grew out and the color looked dull; plus, my hair was way overdue for a trim. I explained to Monica that I do NOT want to bleach my hair since it will get damaged and showed her various pictures of the colors that I was interested in. I asked her for pricings and what she would be able to achieve without bleach. Monica said with confidence that she would be able to get the brown/orange without using bleach. When the coloring was finished, I was not a happy camper. My hair was red and my roots were still black with hint of red. I expressed my dissatisfaction to Monica... I explained to her that I can deal with the color, even though it is not what I asked for, but that I had a problem with the roots looking like they already grew out. She responded "I dont know why your hair did not take the color." As if it was my fault! I'm sorry but I dont own a hair salon and even I know that you cant just apply color evenly to hair that is 2 different colors because the roots grew out and hope that the entire hair will magically come out the same color. That's why I went to a hair salon! Then she proceeded to give me 2 options. Option 1 was to pay an additional $50 so she can bleach the top and try to get it the same color as the bottom. Option 2 was to dye the bottom darker to match the top.. so pretty much dye my hair black. She basically wanted me to bleach my hair, pay extra to fix my hair because she didnt do it right or she wanted me dye my hair black. If I wanted to go darker or dye my hair black, I would've bought boxed dye from the store and dyed it myself for $10, not pay her $100!!! I told her I dont like either option but she still didnt offer to fix my hair and make it right. She didnt apologize and charged me full price. For some reason, she cut my hair right in the middle and I ended up leaving looking like I had short hair with extentions.
