My request was simple: CHUNKY balayage. CHUNKYYYY. I had pictures to show what I wanted. Mostly warm highlights with some cool sprinkled in. I also asked to add texture to my hair but keep the length (it was below my bra line). Nope... goodbye 6 inches I didn't ask to lose (now it's just below my shoulders). I had THICK voluminous hair, and now it's like I have the Rachel haircut. They foiled my hair to death and I ended up almost platinum blonde when the foils came out, and then to add insult to injury, you could clearly see the lines where the highlights began where it looks almost burnt at the edges?? We went back in for another TWO hours to make it warmer, but by that time my hair was fried, and now I have a bald spot I didn't have before. He offered to fix it in another few weeks after my hair has had time to settle, but I'm never letting anyone there touch my head again. I'm too nice of a person and still managed to crack a semi smile when it was finally done, but now I'm left with tears and silent screaming to hold back my utter horror at what they left me with. If you didn't get the memo: I don't recommend them. Even after everything, he still had the audacity to charge me $250 (discounted) and said I didn't need to leave a tip. Umm, thanks? God only knows how long this is going to take to fix... Should've gone to Fluff Bar. Thanh, you should've comp'd it and ask I not leave a bad review, which I totally would've said yes to not doing. Lesson learned? Was the juice really worth the squeeze? Looks like I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them? Ladies or gents: If you want balayage or any kind of coloring service, do NOT go here. This is NOT their specialty. Run. UPDATE: Went to a highly reviewed salon a few days after my visit with Vo where I had two pros look at my hair to assess the situation (and probability of me somehow getting what I originally wanted), and both agreed that what Vo did to my hair was "pretty bad" and unprofessional. All I heard, as they were slowly combing and lifting through my hair, were soft whispers and gasps of horror with the occasional, "Girl look at this... omg..." After hearing what they could do to fix the mess Vo left me with (weeks of painstaking piece meal work and god-knows-how-much-money) I ultimately decided to have them take me back to my original brown so I could start over from square one. THAT'S how bad it was. All that time and money just to go back to brown and have my hair be short and thin instead of long and thick. God I could scream. I appreciate you offering to fix the mess you left me with, Thanh, but no thanks. I would much rather you spend the time you would've taken on fixing my hair to spending it on some coloring courses instead. Just because you own a salon doesn't mean you've mastered the art of hair. The other guy whom you trained on the fly with me has a lot of learning to do also. I could tell he didn't know what he was doing and yet you still let him touch my hair while you juggled two other clients. Unacceptable service. On top of that, neither you or the other guy ever made small talk with me, which I've never experienced at a salon in all my life. Like, not a single word or question about my day or even my name. Even if you guys had done a great job, I still wouldn't have come back due to that alone. K I'm done. Lesson learned I hope. Best of luck to you.

Today I spent 2 lovely hours being pampered at The Parlour Salon Down Town. I have been doing my own hair color and highlights at home to try and save money. I finally couldn't stand looking at the mess I have made and decided to get a pro to fix me up. I wasn't too excited about the parking down town but I found out I could Valet right across the street from the main door! My pro: Chelsea first brought me a glass of wine! Next she listened to what I wanted. I hated the yellow in my hair and wanted more of a light beige with brown at my base. After she foiled my hair and it "baked" I got a wonderful head massage and a protein mask to help my poor dried out hair that I've been frying. She gave a cut and blew me dry. I didn't even look like the same woman who walked in with the yellow over processed hair. My hair was so soft and looked amazing. I could tell the cut was great by the way if fell into place. I am more then happy! I would recommend her for color and cuts! She gave me exactly what I asked for and it was worth every penny. Maybe I can't go every 6 weeks but for sure I will go back every other color. My hair deserves it and I loved having a professional make me over. read more

Gina has been my (now husband's) hair stylists for about 5 years now. So, when I was searching around for somebody to do hair and makeup for our wedding(8-9-13) Gina offered to travel all the way to Copper Mountain at like 7am to do hair and makeup for myself and our bridesmaids. Not only did Gina travel, she also brought her co worker Grace and these two rad chicks did an AMAZING job on our hair and makeup in a short amount of time.(They even did both of our our mom's makeup last minute because they saw how great of a job these ladies did) I wanted an updo that moved and makeup that was dramatic but not overly painted. Gina killed it! I rocked out super hard and my hair and makeup stayed all night! Plus Grace did a killer job on my bridesmaids. They actually liked their hair and makeup. I've never been to a wedding where all the bridesmaids feel as pretty as the bride! I highly recommend either of these ladies for any of your hair and/or makeup needs. They are both super talented, helpful and fun! read more

I've been going to Carissa Wilson for a few years and I have never experienced anything less than exceptional. I have long hair and it had been a constant challenge to find a stylist that didn't take, "dusting" or "1-inch" to mean 2, 3, or even 4 inches but Carissa has always listened to and executed exactly what I have wanted while offering excellent professional advice. I recently had a less-than-professional attempt to lighten my dyed black hair, which turned out exactly how anyone could have expected. Carissa spent hours doing a perfect color correction that I didn't even think possible. My 4 different shades of completely uneven brassy reddish brown hair turned into the exact beautiful shade of brown I had initially wanted. Her services are worth well beyond what she charges, I would highly recommend her! read more

I recently went to Alex Rosas-Cano at The Parlour on Wynkoop, and cannot say enough GREAT things about him. I am blonde, and all of us blondes know how hard it is to find someone who can color with perfection. Alex does exactly that, and I would recommend him 100%. An older hair dresser (out of state) damaged my hair, and he took the time to explain to me how to get it healthy again and what not to do when it is wet, etc. So cool! Also, if you are getting married or just have a special occasion coming up, he does amazing/whimsical up-do's. Check him out in the Spring/Summer 2014 Denver Life Magazine "Weddings" edition. He designed and styled all of the models hair and they all look AMAZING! Thank you Alex and The Parlour, I will definitely be coming back! read more

I decided to try The Parlour after hearing great things about them. I made a last minute appointment for a Friday afternoon with a stylist named Jamie. I was greeted at the front and introduced to Jamie who was such a sweetheart right off the bat. She made sure I was comfortable and had a glass of wine in my hand as I sat down. We talked about what I wanted to achieve during our appointment--a trim, layers, and bangs. She really made sure to ask questions about what exactly I wanted so that we were on the same page. After a wash, conditioning treatment, cut, and blowout, I left loving my hair and knowing I would go back to see her in a few weeks. It's hard to find a stylist these days who is truly passionate about what they do, and Jamie is exactly that! read more

This place is the best!!! Seriously. I moved to Denver and was overdue for highlights. After 8 months with Let Em Have It and 6 appointments between two of their stylists adding up to another $1000 dropped, they have dropped ME as a client. I asked for gray and black blending, and all I got session after session was disappointment and guarantee that the next session "we'd get there." Every time I go, I buy the product they tell me to use because that'd what will help my hair for our next appointment. My last session was a toner session where they accidentally turned my hair green. When I came back to get it fixed, the stylist said the new toner didn't work, so they had to tone again and ran out of time to finish or dry my hair. I wish I could say that was the first time I had been asked to return to the salon for them to fix their work. After I got home and saw my hair dry, I burst into tears at the damage and color. The hair we had worked so hard to lighten was now warm brown. Anyway, I sent an email asking for help, for either 50% refund on all the services I've continually paid for since I was told they would eventually get me the results we kept agreeing upon, or to have my next session in November be free of charge so they can finally once and for all fix my hair. They chose to refund me just for the services (not the product or tip) for my last visit - a whopping $130, and part ways with me. So I spent all this time being catfished into thinking these folks would finally get me the hair I so want. They promised each time, after looking at my inspo pictures, that we could achieve it, and they NEVER did. I have been SO gracious with everything, no one can deny that. I never once got sassy until now. Now my hair is damaged, short, blotchy, and brown four months before my wedding. The pictures below are of my initial inspo and what I'm left with after all my patience with Let Em Have It. You really let me have it. Ouch.

I went in for a summer refresh color (all over balayage), which I had discussed ahead of time with my stylist. Once she started to blow-dry my hair, I wasn't sure I was totally pleased with it. The stylist got so upset that she truly practically whisked me out of her chair, fully wet hair and all, curtly stating I could get a re-do scheduled at the front desk, which I did. I went in the next morning and told her "I have gotten used to the new color and I like it! Can we just fix the face framing pieces, please?" She said maybe six words to me in the three hours I was there and she took it upon herself to fully dye my hair an entirely new color. (Not at ALL what I asked for.) I truly don't know must of anything about hair coloring, so while I was confused about the length of time, I trusted her. Once again--I kid you not--I left the salon with a fully wet head of hair and a glob of coloring or toner or whatever on my forehead, a dirty look from my stylist and that was that. Again, not a word from the stylist. I left feeling shocked, embarrassed, and confused. I contacted the salon and never heard back. My stylist is talented, but how anyone can treat a regular customer like that blows my mind. Maybe consider another salon, especially if you, like me, aren't fluent in all things hair.

Cori is very easy to talk to and a good listener when it comes to what I'm looking for in style. It's a bit expensive (though to be fair, everything is these days), but in my opinion worth the price. I wanted to particularly shout out the receptionist who answered my call this morning - I was scheduled for a cut & glaze tomorrow morning, but am experiencing a family emergency and asked to reschedule for October. The receptionist (unfortunately I didn't catch her name!) said typically a cancellation fee would apply in this situation, but she was happy to waive it for me this time. It was an incredible relief to hear this, and I'm very grateful for the kindness she extended to me while I'm going through a difficult time.
