Nice layers to make the thick hair flow beautifully.

I was passing through Denver on my travels and decided I needed a change to my mixed hair. I did all of the online research I could beforehand (scary trusting new people with my hair) and one of the salons happened to be Babooshka. I had trouble with the website so I called and spoke with Kait, explained my situation, and she recommended the owner, Cue. I arrived with the idea I needed a very short pixie cut - scorched Earth chop. Cue worked with me and really helped me discover a cute, modern, and manageable style that was not as extreme as what I thought I needed. **Also, don't park on the street at certain times.** It was snowing and after 5pm on Friday and the parking enforcement put a boot on a vehicle, and was ticketing others. My rental car was about to be cited and Erin took my keys, ran out and stopped the citation, moved my car, all in the snow with no jacket, as time was of the essence. Way above and beyond. I will return to this shop when I roll through Denver again, parking in a legal spot!

This is what I asked for:

I've never in my 27 years of life cried after a haircut. I have a pixie cut. I showed Andy a picture of what I wanted, which was a piece-y cut with long sides-- just a tad shorter than what my hair had grown out to, and he said "I can do that!" And then he proceeded to give me a buzz cut. I look like a 12-yr old boy. I loved my hair before. Now I'm going to wear a hat for at least 2 weeks. The bright side is the salon is adorably decorated and they offer you wine, and the prices are great. Maybe go to someone else there. Or just don't. He didn't even try to style it down like I had before, or like the picture- he basically did what he probably would do to his own hair-- slicked it back in one chunk. I would never wear my hair like this- it's not me at all. But it's too short to even pull down over my face now. I just don't understand how you can go a full 180 degrees away from what the person requested.

Sean did a fantastic job. I am getting married in 8 mo and really didn't want a long of length taken off! He was very careful and checked in with me often. I also really appreciate that he made sure to know how I part my hair a head of time. I am visiting from out of town and just bummed I can't come back more often. Totally recommend this place!

Steps to calling Colorado 'home': 1. Find a place to live 2. Move 3. Try to get all of my old friends to move to CO with me 4. Get a CO driver's license 5. Get CO license plates 6. Get used to the fact that there isn't an H&M, Zara, MNG, TJ's, or In N Out 7. Find new stylist to cut hair and stop flying back to California for my haircuts Until yesterday, I had only completed steps 1 and 2. Now, I can cross of #7!!!!! This is really sad considering I've lived in Denver for...I don't know...17 months???? Titty - You rock!! Thanks for the new hair!!!!!!!!

After receiving an unfortunate haircut at a chain salon which demonstrated the old adage, "You get what you pay for," I was rather traumatized. In fact, I was terrified of getting another haircut, and put it off for 4 months, during which time my hair actually grew out to a more pleasing style on its own. But finally the shag mop top that my own scalp had produced without any outside influence needed some expert guidance. Word of Babooshka reached me like an urban legend: the mother of a friend of one of my boyfriend's clients got her hair done there, and it didn't sound overly expensive or overly snooty...or overly cheap. I finally took the plunge. The space is on East Colfax (aka the Fax, or the Bluebird District), and appropriately funky ecclectic inside. Leopard print high heel chairs meet Craftsman tool boxes. Indy music played not-too-loudly. I explained my previous trauma to Baylee, a friendly stylist whose bare arms revealed quite nice ink. I explained that I do not own a blow dryer. I could be a wash-n-go lobbyist, should such a thing ever become necessary. She did not sneer. She did not snort. She did not laugh. Instead, she gave me a decent haircut which suited my coarse hair and coarse approach to styling. I didn't flinch to pay my $30 + tip. It was worth it, and I'll be back for more. I am comfortable in offering my recommendation, just let me get a couple more haircuts to verify before I sign off on a full-fledged 5 star review! Stay tuned, and I promise I'll go back before another 4 months have passed!

Marisa saved my class a couple of weeks ago. My daughter engaged in what I call "self help" on her own haircut, necessitating a saturday trip to the haircutters before a big party. Not only did I get in here (miracle of miracles!) during the busy season, but she got exactly the type of cut I had imagined, but of course was completely unable to describe using actual hair cutting terminology. I now know why I was referred here. Great haircutting.

The esthetician was friendly, boisterous, loud and immediately jumped into performing the service without instructions or warnings. She did a good job applying the under eye patches, tints, etc. When it was time to take the tint off she dug cotton balls into my eyes - way deeper than was necessary and without care - that toxic dye got in my eyes and it was SO painful. She washed my eyes out with saline like 6 times because I demanded it but they still stung. She never apologized - just "yep, it stings don't it", like I was some sort of torture subject. I don't think she was properly trained! I have had my brows and lashes tinted dozens of times in other salons and sure there is a little sting but the esthetitian knows how to carefully remove the dye so that the sting is minimal and she is compassionate and thorough with the saline. I don't think this woman got all the dye out because my eyes still stung for the rest of the day and into the night, extra dry, red on the inside of the eyelid... 3 days later my eyes are still recovering. Google says the dyes are not FDA approved and can cause serious damage to the eyes - I was freaking out. The place is cute but I would NEVER go here again.

The service itself was performed well, and I was satisfied with the quality of the wax. However, the subsequent events have caused significant disappointment and lead me to strongly advise caution to other male clients. The day after my service, I was unexpectedly contacted by the manager and informed that I was banned from the establishment due to an "inappropriate conversation" with the esthetician. This notification was perplexing, as the conversation in question was initiated by the esthetician's small talk. During the service, Reagan asked about my weekend plans. When I initially mentioned that the plans were personal, she indicated that was acceptable. I then shared that my wife and I planned to visit The Scarlet Ranch, a known lifestyle club. As my wife and I are open about our lifestyle, I was willing to engage in general, surface-level discussion. Reagan continued to actively participate, asking multiple follow-up questions about the club's atmosphere, membership fees, types of events, and clientele. I was careful to keep my responses strictly professional and non-sexual, focusing on logistical and social aspects. At no point during this sustained conversation did the esthetician indicate that she felt uncomfortable or ask to change the subject. Therefore, receiving a call informing me I was banned--and being told by the manager that the conversation was "inappropriate to have while getting a male Brazilian"--was a significant surprise. It seems highly unprofessional to ban a paying customer without the service provider communicating any discomfort during the interaction. Feedback on Communication and Professionalism: For the management and staff: Professional protocol dictates that if a client's conversation makes a staff member uncomfortable, the staff member must clearly and politely redirect or end the topic of conversation. Customers cannot be expected to know a provider's boundaries, especially when the provider is actively engaging and asking follow-up questions. A simple, "I prefer to keep our conversation limited to the service," would have been sufficient and professional. This lack of professional communication has resulted in the loss of a repeat client and has created an unnecessarily unpleasant experience. I urge management to review their policies on staff interaction and boundary setting. Recommendation for Male Clients: Due to this experience, I do not recommend this establishment for males seeking a Brazilian wax. While the technique was good, the overall lack of staff maturity and professionalism in handling client conversations is concerning. Prospective clients might consider alternatives like European Wax Center for a lower-cost option. I hope this feedback leads to better communication practices so that other clients do not feel targeted or confused in the future.

So walking into European Wax Center to have strangers rip hair out of my shoulders feels... culturally complicated. My people did not survive centuries of history just for me to wake up one day and say, "You know what would be fun? Let's pour hot wax on my body and rip out my follicles like I'm preparing for the Olympics." And yet... here I am. European Wax Center is clean, efficient, and very easy to book online. Which is great, because it means you never have to call a stranger and say the sentence: "Hello, I'd like to schedule some aggressive hair removal." You check in and within minutes someone is calmly spreading hot wax on you like they're frosting a cake. A cake that is unfortunately attached to your shoulders. Then comes the rip. Somewhere deep inside, my inner Greek barbarian wants to roar and run back into the mountains. Instead I sit there quietly thinking, "Ah yes... this is how the modern man suffers." The staff are nice and professional, though the vibe is definitely efficient rather than spa-day indulgence. This is less "luxury relaxation" and more "well-run hair removal logistics operation." I respect that. Huge bonus: I can walk there. Few things are more humbling than casually strolling down the street knowing you're about to pay someone to violently remove your fur. For the record, I am not going full dolphin. The chest hair stays. That's protected territory. Bear energy must remain somewhere. ;) This is simply about taming the wilderness so I don't look like I'm wearing an invisible sweater. Final verdict: Clean. Fast. Convenient. My inner Greek barbarian hates every second of it. But my summer shirts are thriving.
