It's been a month since my last haircut with Jake at BarberX and 5 weeks since my previous beard trim. I live in the Baker neighborhood and took RTD Light Rail downtown. I reached the last station and realized I would problem be late if I took the A train to stop near BarberX. So I walked thru lower downtown and reached BarberX just before my appointment at 1030am. So the I chose the free beer of Leinenlugel's Summer Shandy for a perfect after walk beverage. The vibe is cool with happy employees and effective AC. Jake (she) was very conversational. Very disappointed that when I showed up to my appointment and was told you couldn't cut my hair when I was a few minutes past your "cut off" time. If you check the history on my account, you would know you absolutely had time to finish my haircut. Then you charged me as if I had missed my appointment. Strong and resolute, no. Look elsewhere. Zero professionalism, zero care for clients, zero elevated experience. This was my first go at BarberX (and the absolute last). Also, this was my first cut in Denver, as I moved here just over a week ago. My appointment was with Jade. I was not taken to the seat for my cut by Jade. I questioned why it differed from my appointment, and my original barber, Jade, stated - "oh, yeah, sorry. I didn't know how long my previous cut would go over, and "MY NOTES SAID YOU'VE NEVER SEEN ME BEFORE." BarberX staff then put me, the client, in an uncomfortable position when asking me, "I mean, I can cut your hair; what would you like." Wild, just wild. It felt like the twilight zone. Haircuts are essential to an individual--especially those like me, who choose to have one somewhere for the first time in years. BarberX gives little care to their client's experience. Thank you for the $5 credit for "the mix-up." Yeah, mix-up. If that means a staff member choosing to disregard the establishment's system in place and care very little about the inconvenience, it places on its clients. I wish I had waited to head elsewhere another day. I will not make that mistake in the future. I certainly will ensure that neither my friends nor family will. The cut is by no means my favorite. However, I appreciate how Lauren delivered a level of professionalism that Jade so clearly could not. If the shop you choose charges $40-60 for a basic cut, you should walk away with a pep in your step. BarberX failed in every aspect here. There are many other shops, try them out first. read more

My last two hair cuts were bad my last one was completely horrible the fade was horrible can still see the line a day later most likely will be there for a week. The top I said a little longer than half inch..... it is shorter than my finger length.... not cool. Also the skin fade looks weird it's like a Mohawk and comes out too far close to my face. I won't be going back and spending my money there again.$50 for a haircut??? And it was horrible. Was this done on purpose because I had something come up the day prior and had to cancel?? Rather than call and get anyone in trouble I will Just never go again. I should leave a google review... I took plenty of pictures of this cut Do better! You charge that much you need to be perfect! Since moving back to Denver last year, I have had to deal with the always aggravating and strenuous dilemma of finding a new barber. It used to be that my barber was my way of making sure that I looked good and wouldn't get in trouble when I was still in the Army. Now, as a bartender, my image is what helps put food on my table, and pays the bills so that I can be comfortable. Image is important, and Lauren has now solidified herself as my new barber. I had reached a very depressing point in my life and had neglected to make any effort into my hair. I had let it grow excessively, and only combed and styled my hair if I was going to work. Lauren has now given me a newfound confidence that has made me a surefire customer for the forseable future. The covid precautions are outstanding, and provided me with a high level of comfort and security, especially as a former Healthcare administrator who had to deal with these precautions daily and takes them seriously. Lauren greeted me and ensure my temperature was below the fever threshold, asked me the symptom questions, and offered hand sanitizer immediately. Lauren was straight to the point and firm, but friendly and made me feel welcome. She looked at the abysmal state of my appearance, and asked what I liked, but offered a double undercut and a beard trim. I agreed and she went to work. Despite the extensive work, she moved with haste, but still seemed like she took her time and was deliberate in every move. It took about 45 minutes and I felt like a new man. I went from looking like a depressed slob and turned into a confident new man. I am glad I stopped by, based of the recommendation of a friend, and gave it a shot. I was glad that they took me in as they opened. Nice place, very clean and spaced out. I wish I had read the reviews, because the actual end product wasn't what I expected for a $45 dollar hair cut. Being from LA and maintaining a fade every 7-8 day, I have been accustomed to having pros do great work for $35.... For $45, I really thought I was in for a similar or better experience. My hair was accidentally pulled 3 x times by the clippers. The haircut only took about 15 minutes... and once I got home, noticed the little imperfections that would have not happened if the person was: 1. More skillful 2. Took more time in assuring the fine details that someone comes to expect for a $45 dollar haircut. The automatic 20% tip is also almost a slap in the face! Smh. Not trying to be rude, just being honest and hoping that new customers are aware and management/ ownership knows what is being delivered. read more

I thought that paying $50 for a haircut would imply that the barber would listen to what I wanted, but I guess I was wrong. Brady was a cool enough guy but he 1) ignored the pictures I showed him (of my own hair) 2) when I expressed disappointment in what he did, he even admitted that he "didn't know what I meant," so yeah, for $50, you get work from a barber who will not even bother to ask to clarify what you as a client want in the beginning of your cut. read more

Avoid at all cost, this place makes you put your card down to book an appointment and has no refund policy. I booked an appointment at 9:30am through their website, even though they advertise that they don't open until 10am. So I show up at 9:34am for my appointment and of course, lights are off, closed sign on the door, and NO ONE is there. I figured it's because they don't open till 10am so I waited at reunion bakery next door for them to open up only to receive a notification while I was waiting that my appointment has been cancelled because I didn't show up. I quickly walk over to the barbershop to find the lights on, open sign on the door and Vanessa hiding in the back of the place. I told her I had an appointment and Vanessa insisted I was a no call no show and wouldn't refund my money. I told her I couldn't access the building because it was closed and she lied and said the place was open at 9:25am. Barber X and Vanessa's customer service is awful. read more

Incredibly rude and disrespectful, waited 15 minutes after my scheduled cut AND after she had already started on my hair, to be told that I had scheduled the wrong type of haircut and that I do not go to barbershops as this is the way all barbershops work, and that I am at fault. I get if you double book an appointment or realize that you have made some sort of booking mistake, but to make the customer feel as if it is there fault then to go further by disrespecting them as saying that they do not actually get nice haircuts... and she can save the theatrics, an apology would've done just fine as opposed to under the break snarky comments on the way out. Jade or whatever her name was was incredibly unprofessional and I've worked in customer service for years so I feel like I have a pretty good representation of about how your supposed to treat someone. read more

Great barbers, great hair cuts, but if you're 1 minute late.... Don't even try to go in lol your appt is cancelled. I have gotten the call as I walked in and was told "if you weren't walking in, we were telling you that your appointment is cancelled." Then proceeded to wait for 10 minutes while my barber was still chatting and finishing up the other client haha. Excellent service and very cool space at BarberX. Just got my haircut here on Friday. Brady greeted me and offered me something to drink - I immediately felt very welcomed. The vibe is nice - clean, straightforward modern design. Lighting was just right as well as the music. Brady listened to what I was looking for and executed very well.
