My hair looked shiny and healthy and really, really beautiful-a mix of ashy brown and dark tones, exactly like the k-beauty vibe I presented in the inspiration picture. And it was a very fair price. I don't want to post this. I'm still left reeling at how terrible my hair looks after my visit with Thanh on Saturday. Word to the wise: They are NOT colorists. My request was simple: CHUNKY balayage. CHUNKYYYY. I had pictures to show what I wanted. Mostly warm highlights with some cool sprinkled in. I also asked to add texture to my hair but keep the length (it was below my bra line). Nope... goodbye 6 inches I didn't ask to lose (now it's just below my shoulders). I had THICK voluminous hair, and now it's like I have the Rachel haircut. They foiled my hair to death and I ended up almost platinum blonde when the foils came out, and then to add insult to injury, you could clearly see the lines where the highlights began where it looks almost burnt at the edges?? We went back in for another TWO hours to make it warmer, but by that time my hair was fried, and now I have a bald spot I didn't have before. He offered to fix it in another few weeks after my hair has had time to settle, but I'm never letting anyone there touch my head again. I'm too nice of a person and still managed to crack a semi smile when it was finally done, but now I'm left with tears and silent screaming to hold back my utter horror at what they left me with. If you didn't get the memo: I don't recommend them. Even after everything, he still had the audacity to charge me $250 (discounted) and said I didn't need to leave a tip. Umm, thanks? God only knows how long this is going to take to fix... Should've gone to Fluff Bar. Thanh, you should've comp'd it and ask I not leave a bad review, which I totally would've said yes to not doing. Lesson learned? Was the juice really worth the squeeze? Looks like I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them? Ladies or gents: If you want balayage or any kind of coloring service, do NOT go here. This is NOT their specialty. Run. UPDATE: Went to a highly reviewed salon a few days after my visit with Vo where I had two pros look at my hair to assess the situation (and probability of me somehow getting what I originally wanted), and both agreed that what Vo did to my hair was "pretty bad" and unprofessional. All I heard, as they were slowly combing and lifting through my hair, were soft whispers and gasps of horror with the occasional, "Girl look at this... omg..." After hearing what they could do to fix the mess Vo left me with (weeks of painstaking piece meal work and god-knows-how-much-money) I ultimately decided to have them take me back to my original brown so I could start over from square one. THAT'S how bad it was. All that time and money just to go back to brown and have my hair be short and thin instead of long and thick. God I could scream. I appreciate you offering to fix the mess you left me with, Thanh, but no thanks. I would much rather you spend the time you would've taken on fixing my hair to spending it on some coloring courses instead. Just because you own a salon doesn't mean you've mastered the art of hair. The other guy whom you trained on the fly with me has a lot of learning to do also. I could tell he didn't know what he was doing and yet you still let him touch my hair while you juggled two other clients. Unacceptable service. On top of that, neither you or the other guy ever made small talk with me, which I've never experienced at a salon in all my life. Like, not a single word or question about my day or even my name. Mai at Salon Vo ruined my hair by leaving highlights on too long, and they refused to refund me. I told them the front is lighter than I wanted, so I was worried about the back being VERY light. They refused to check for 20 min. I asked them to check multiple times. When they finally did, Vo's (the owner) eyes got wide and said "what color did you want?" and they rushed me to the sink. They said they could "try to fix it" with toner and to come back another time to fix it more. I told them I don't trust them anymore and I want a refund. They refused. The highlights were also chunky and hideous. I found another stylist and it's taken us 2 sessions and $600 to fix it. The haircuts are overpriced too. Mai will yank at your hair and leave split ends. It was really nice to find a place that had lots of examples of successful color styles on asian hair in Denver! I was really impressed and excited to get a hairstyle renovation since I had not done anything to my hair in 6 months! I got a consultation, partial highlights and a cut/style and now I my style feels pro-freshional and I am feeling workforce-ready. Vo has some interesting style techniques that seemed like only a master stylist would know that I noticed while he was cutting my hair. Vo impressed me from the start because he gave me not only a vision, but a PLAN during my consultation. I had been wondering what to do with my random gray hairs that were potentially becoming less random over time... Vo, your work is terrible. I got my hair done by you in late fall, and it was one of the worst decisions I've made with my hair. You charged me a premium rate for what you called a balayage, but what I left with was brassy, harsh, and completely unblended. The color was streaky, uneven, and looked rushed. No tone, no dimension, no effort. Just lazy, sloppy work. And this wasn't some casual splurge, it was a financial sacrifice. I booked with you expecting to leave feeling confident and cared for. My hair was healthy and beautiful before I sat in your chair. (Included in the images below so you can see for yourself) After you touched it, I hated it, for months. I stayed quiet because the drive was long and I genuinely hoped I could get used to it. But I never did. Your work was sloppy and overpriced, and it left me feeling embarrassed. This salon was the worst experience I ever had. I don't often post reviews, but I urge you to please take heed to others who have given their review: They are not colorists - at all. I went in for what was only supposed to be a root touch up and instead my hair turned into a dark reddish color that was nowhere near my natural color whatsoever. What's more, not only was my hair ruined, but the way Thanh Vo applied the color to my hair was so unprofessional. Once he realized the color wasn't even remotely close to my natural hair color after the first rinse, he then applied another solution to somehow correct the color, which I had to sit through for another 15-20 mins, and after that, it made no difference. Damage was done. On top of it, I had a burn on my scalp from this entire experience. To say I was upset is an understatement. I wanted to scream! After getting a closer look at my hair, my forehead had remnants of the color dye on the edges of my scalp that he didn't even remove or prevent from getting on my forehead in the first place. What's more, he charged me the full $95, oh, and I didn't have to leave a tip as if that was any consolation. Just oh, after a few washes, it should come out. Seriously? At this point, I just wanted to run. I regret giving this salon a try. I went back to my previous hairstylist (who I should've never left to begin with) who was able to remove the awful color from my hair (free of charge!) within the same week. Let's just say, I will NEVER come back to Salon Vo, and I would not recommend this salon to anyone - without reservation. Best of luck to you. read more

I just left Salon Vo. And he never disappoints. I have been having my hair done by Mr Vo for awhile. About 2 years ago he said we need to add some blonde. I trust his opinion so said go for it. He has been coloring my grey roots for years. Wow. What a difference. He blended the roots with the blonde so well. It looks very natural. The blonde is beautiful. I did hair for years and it's so hard to find a talented hair stylist and trust me he is. He does everything with such care. I'm so glad he added the blonde it's amazing. Before Thanh could say a word, let him know that this customer, aka me, am not an easy one and expectations are sky-high. First visit was for a cut and second was for an unexpected full balayage, as an appointment was scheduled out of state during one of my upcoming trips that ended up being cancelled, as Thanh convinced me he was my best option at the time. Finally! The reviews for this Salon are true! I found Salon Vo from Yelp and I had my first appointment with Thanh on Friday the 13th. While a spooky day for other reasons, my appointment was an absolute delight! I had been struggling for over a year to find a hairstylist who could deliver exactly what I wanted: a full foil highlight with a cool blonde finish, without the "rooty" look. While I understand that the rooty style is currently trendy, I'm a millennial with a few grey hairs starting to show, and that look just doesn't suit me. Thankfully, Thanh understood my vision and executed it perfectly. Not only did Thanh comprehend my request, but he also worked efficiently. My appointment was scheduled for 4:15 p.m., and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself out the door before 6:45 p.m. Considering that I have a lot of hair, and it's currently around collarbone length, this was impressive. Thanh also toned it and trimmed it in that amount of time. The salon's location is convenient, with ample parking available. It's a smaller establishment, so you won't find all the luxurious extras you might get at say an Aveda salon, like scalp massages or body lotion treatments while you wait. However, what you will leave with is your hair looking exactly as you envisioned it, and that's what truly matters. In terms of pricing, I found it to be competitive for the area and definitely worth the quality of service provided. If you're looking for a hairstylist who can bring your vision to life without the unnecessary frills, Thanh is your go-to choice. I think my total was about $330 after tip. SCAMMER VO, DO NOT GO THERE! F THIS GUY! I rarely write review but I have to this time. I almost cried after getting a haircut from Vo. He doesn't know technique and definitely lacks of finesse. I asked for a straight bob cut (Lilly Collins style - see pic) and it came out so uneven like a mouse chewed into my hair. I tried telling him nicely and he argued back and tried to talk me out of it til the end. I had a bad feeling from the start when he was cutting my hair just with one hand, like trimming garden bushes and hoping for it to be even. I have never seen such thing and it blew my mind! This was not my first time getting a bob hair cut. Then at the end he had me standing with robe off and tried to fix it again. I have never experienced something like this with any salon ever. The sloppy work and lack of care are really infuriating. Now I have hairs all over my sweater and pants. For $95/ 45 mins it's really a scam. I wouldn't go back even if someone pays for me to. If you care about the health of your hair I suggest you go somewhere else. I did not get the length I wanted nor the color, & left the salon with my hair 100x more damaged than when I came in. The amount of heat he used was insane. Got to my appointment 15 minutes early, still waited almost an hour before we got started because he had to finish two other clients. My hair was down to my tail bone and when I asked for only a 4 inches off but about 8 inches or more came off. The hair cut process was abnormal. He had me stand up while he scissored away at my dry hair. It came out extremely uneven and flared. By the time we got started I was the last one in the salon, everything felt rushed and uncoordinated. He quickly applied bleach and placed foil. Brought the heat machine and placed it above my head. The machine was so hot it was frying the hair on my head and my scalp was burning. When it was time to remove the foils he quickly pulled away at them which was painful and I could feel my hair falling out with it. He used hot water to rinse my hair, and when it was time to brush it out he had to detangle my hair which he did so damagingly by the time he was done , he pulled a ball of my hair from the brush and I threw it on the floor. Blow dry was on high heat as well . I miss the hair I had before I came into the salon . I practically paid someone a lot of money to destroy my hair . read more

Before you read any further-- YES, this place can cut Asian hair :) I found this place through Yelp because my hair was in dire need of losing a few pounds (if you have thick Asian hair, you get it). I also decided I'd go for balayage for the first time because, why not? #treatyoself Salon Vo is constantly busy and by appointment only, but luckily it's easy to make an appointment online! I highly suggest checking out their IG page to see what kind of work you want done (@hairby_vo). My balayage appointment took around 2.5 hours but the staff was super friendly and we engaged in good conversation. The owner Thanh was my main stylist that day and he did an excellent job lightening up the heaviness of my hair. As for the final coloring-- I am IN LOVE. Like I said earlier, I've never had balayage before and this was the best place to try it for the first time. There's a reason you see so many beautiful balayage pictures on their yelp & IG page! Also, Thanh actually cut my hair to the length I wanted it-- a lot of other stylists tend to over cut and make it shorter than I want, but Thanh was on point. I really liked talking to the rest of the staff too, everyone was so friendly and kind. Unfortunately I am moving out of CO soon and I wish I found this place earlier. I was seen by Thanh, who assured me that he knew exactly what to do with my hair. This was such a relief! I came in for my appointment and they were quick and prompt with getting everything done that I was in and out in 2.5 hours which is the fastest I've ever been able to get my hair done at a salon. Thanh took my preferences into account and even ended up cutting my hair while I was standing up to make sure the ends wouldn't curl in. I found Salon Vo through Yelp and couldn't be happier with my experience there! I hadn't had a cut/color since February 2020 (thanks covid...) and my hair was an absolute mess. There's a before picture but I don't even want to post it because I'm so embarrassed. I decided I wanted to do a short cut and a fun color for the summer to celebrate my full vaccination and went for a dark pink/magenta color! I was booked with Sarah but different stylists also helped with the process at times when she was a little overloaded so this salon definitely is very collaborative. Sarah did the balayage bleaching portion, color mixing, and the haircut while Thanh helped do a blow dry for me and Courtney (? I believe that's her name) helped apply the color and did my shampoo/conditioner. It was fun to chat with all the different people, everyone was so nice and genuinely excited at how my hair would look. It was a long appointment - I got there at 1:30 pm and left just before 7:00 pm - but I felt like I got VIP treatment the entire time. The results were AMAZING. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I feel so confident and a wholly new person with my hair. I went in for a gloss treatment and haircut. I asked for face framing layers, long layers for texture and to have blunt, but rounded ends. All i got was an unevenly cut "side bang", hair all one length and the tiniest strand of layers. I should have spoke up when i noticed he didnt even section off my hair to shape up my old layers. The only reason it seemed like he did something because he slightly blew out my hair with the slightest curl at the ends... My hair is literally just one length. No flow, no angles, just one blob. The gloss treatment worked though. I even showed pictures of what I wanted and he ignored what I asked for..... he literally said "we shouldnt do that" when i asked for curled blowout ends. Haircuts are about what the customer wants! Not what the hair dresser thinks is best, which was not what i suggested at all. not really professional to me. First I want to start this review with a huge THANK YOU to Thahn! I've been seeking a stylist who specializes in coloring Asian hair since moving to Denver a few years ago and I finally found him! Other stylists have tried with great effort to get my color to what I want which is blonde without the brass and within a few washes my hair would be orange/brass again. Asian hair is so hard to lift without damaging and Vo lifted all the brass out/added highlights and color corrected my hair from a previous stylist. He was very detail oriented in how he went about color correcting so he didn't damage it.
