Having lived in Denver two years now, it's been extremely difficult to find a barbershop here that does quality work and is not rushing you out of the chair for their next clients. I decided to give Frank's a shot and wow, so glad I did! I booked online which was super simple, and got there early to grab a parking spot since it is downtown off Larimer. Headed inside, was greeted/checked in and was told to wash my hands which I liked. They then asked if I wanted anything to drink and it being my day off, I went the local craft beer route and got a Strawberry Rhubarb Sour Ale by Great Divide (their beer selection is spot on, even got a koozie for the can). I was then told to take a seat in their lounge area dubbed the "man cave" which is the only thing I happened to take pictures of while there. They had all kinds of things available while waiting, from chips, snacks, suckers, even condoms which I thought was a nice touch. I hung out in there for a few minutes before Addison came and introduced herself and took me to her chair. Now back home in Houston, I had the same barber for about 7 years and I have spent some time here in Denver looking for anyone comparable to her- and I think Addison just may be that fit. She was amazing, listened to every detail on what I was looking for with a haircut, and was very personable but also professional. I was so impressed by her work I'll definitely be going back and requesting her as well. Highly recommend her for anyone reading this review! My bar is set pretty high, and she went above and beyond. Facility was very nice and well kept, loved how clean everything was. A couple of pro tips, get there early because of street parking. I went during the day which was fine, but you always need to be prepared going downtown to find a spot unless you are walking/scooting/biking. Coors Field is two blocks away, so I can see parking not even being an option during baseball season. Also Addison told me a lot of people book in the evening and come in for a beer and a cut, then head out on the town afterwards which is not a bad place to be to get the night started! read more

Salina absolutely wrecked my boyfriend's hair. Super uneven cut and when she revealed the final product he told her it wasn't what he wanted and she said "well your times up". It was a great haircut that included a shampooing with head massage and they even trimmed my eyebrows a little bit which I've never had before. The place itself is nice. It feels classy. Makes you feel like you're getting your money's worth as it can be a bit pricey depending on what you're after. My haircut was good but I feel like they made a mistake on the back of my head (see photo) even though I was told it was purposefully done. Nothing major. Just looks a bit odd. Would be nice if the hairdresser was up for more of a chat which is what I would usually expect. Not entirely sold on whether or not I'd be back. read more

Definitely wouldn't recommend Frank's to anyone who values their time or their sanity. My first cut there was fine. My second appointment was during my lunch hour the day before a wedding, so I made sure to get there early, only to sit waiting for over 30 minutes... I realized I was going to be late for work and politely asked if I could reschedule due to the long wait. The staff was immediately weirdly confrontational and said if I rescheduled I would have to pay full price regardless, due to their policy. When I looked it up on my phone and pointed out their own policy on their website regarding wait times up to 15 minutes, they started gaslighting me about my appointment time being pushed back (?) and that it didn't matter if I was notified of the change or not (??), but because of the change in my appointment that I wasn't informed about (!?), their policy didn't apply to my situation... Super bizarre attitude all around. To avoid further confrontation and paying $60 for nothing, I agreed to an incredibly awkward haircut from a different stylist than I booked, who was apparently supposed to be on break. Most awkward haircut of my life, and the cut I got was not at all what I asked for, but I get the situation was weird so I tipped like I usually would despite it. When I was leaving, the receptionist said she had "audited the system" and found that I wasn't notified that her manager had moved my appointment (???). I think she threw in an insincere apology and a $5 discount... All in all just an awful, bizarre experience. I emailed the owner, Lisa, who replied saying she'd discuss with her team and get back to me. That was over a month ago and I haven't heard a thing, so I figured I would share my bad experience to help others avoid one. read more

All I ask for is for simple direction following. I say what want and what I don't want. I point and explain in detail. I made an appointment and then totally forgot it, and called 2 hours after to apologize and the girl said "No problem" but never mentioned I was charged. they charged me $48.00. Have been using this place for the last 3-4 haircuts. Missed one appointment and when I tried to rebook they charged me the full amount and wouldn't allow me to credit any % of the charge to a new appointment. I understand they need to cover their opportunity cost for missed appointments but you would think they would allow you to make some of it up through return business. I started going to franks about 2 weeks ago. I love the staff, super friendly and laid back. Also they have lots of amenities that come along with your haircut such as a complementary beverage of your choice. They also do a full shampoo, steamed towel. Neck massage and shave. Brought my sons there. One got straight razor shave and mini-facial to get photo ready for graduation. He also got his buzz cut tightened and faded. Younger got child's haircut trim and edges tightened. Very pleased with both pair of services. If you are scheduling for more than one, see what's available and call in. I will be selfishly honest here at the beginning....i try to show up a little early to have a beer before my haircut. I am not a beer drinker but I like the White Rascal they have. It's a very casual and comfortable atmosphere where you can relax before your cut in the ManCave. I highly suggest you take advantage. That's why they have it! I've been coming here for the last 6 months. They are very flexable and chat with you about your cut and exude a casual accessable professionalism that helps insure you get what you need in a cut. They have assisted me in determining rhe direction of my cut which, sometimes, we all need. The salon is well kept and very stylish. Once again, the ManCave is very comfortable and laid back. They keep notes about your cuts and send out txt reminders. Which is super helpful for me! I've had a couple of the stylist cut my hair. In other establishments I have avoided this due to the unknown factor of what level of talent everyone is at. Here they are all equally talented and compliment each other greatly. Great customer service, I had tried making an appointment at another salon in which they left me on hold for 20 minutes, Frank's answered the phone right away, got me in within hour, which was about my drive anyways an perfect timing, they were playing snowboarding clips on they're tv's which I just simply thought was amazing! Overall, Frank's Gentlemen's Salon replaces the drudgery of getting a haircut with a relaxing and very enjoyable experience. This place is very unprofessional when it comes to taking care of their customers. We had an appointment, and as we were parking our car, they called to cancel the appointment. They scheduled a new appointment for the following day. We were unable to make it due to being called into work but because we call and notify them 3 hours ahead, they're charging a fee. Note, the appointment was scheduled for a half an hour after they opened. For a Barbershop I was rather disappointed. Scheduled a shave and a cut. As I wanted to treat myself. Shave was rather unpleasant, the guy didn't use any shave gel, foam or cream, just water and some type of goop. Needless to say the razor burn and bumps all over my neck was itchy. I could of done a better job myself, but again I wanted to treat myself to a straight razor shave. My mustache looks like a 1920s gentleman or Gomez Adams. We were looking for the best haircut in Denver and boy did we find it. Franks is both lit and professional. Liarosa is an angel, I will fly here every month from California just to see her again. She is great with the clippers and also the shampoo experience was the best in the game west of the Mississippi. Honestly, not sure why anyone would go anywhere else.
