I have bounce back in my hair!
Jessica JP P.

Francis transformed my dull and unruly hair & truly revived my curls! Her education portion of the appointment is worth all the money. She really took her time and listened to my needs. As a mom of a 2yr old, I don't have too much time for self care and Francis gave me easy and quick styling tips. Im excited to come back in 3 months for a trim & see how my "revival of curls" journey will be by then!

Before!

Absolutely in love with my haircut. Got my first curly cut with Crystal and I swear, she's changed my life. I saw her on November 16th and everyday since then, I am still telling my husband "I love my haircut so much" I've never had somebody take the time to explain my texture, address all of my concerns and show me with my own hands how to replicate my new curly routine at home. I've told every coworker and person with slight texture in their hair to invest in a curly cut with Crystal and let her change your life. I can't wait to see her again in February and continue my hair journey with her.

1 for quality of services and customer services I do not get my hair cut often because I have not found someone to trust with my curly hair. Boy did my cut with Frances make that concern worse. I came in with a reference picture of my own hair. Nothing special just asking for some length cut off. My curls have different patterns with the front ones being tighter. I explained this before starting and showed pictures of when it looks different than the rest of my hair. Since I left the salon with a (questionable) blowout (a whole different story), I did not see this problem at the time. As you can see from the results of the cut, I have a significant step off. This also made my hair at shoulder length which is about an inch shorter than I asked for. Once I showered and my hair was curly again, I called during business hours but as no one answered I left a voicemail that I was not happy with the result of my cut and would like to be called back. After a few days with no call back, I called again and Frances (the stylist who cut my hair) answered. When I let her know the problem, her response was that it was my fault for not styling my hair exactly as she had told me. I indicated at the start of the cut that I am the most low maintenance with my hair, using leave in at the most, but according to her I "promised" to follow a multi step, multi product process. During the cut she gave me recommendations for the best way to style my hair but I was never told that I needed to follow specific steps so that the length of my hair would be even. On the phone I let her know I was willing to send pictures and come back in to fix. She proceeded to put me on hold for a few minutes before returning saying her next client was in and I would be called back. I asked when and who I could expect a call from and she said the receptionist would give me a call back within ten minutes. It has been weeks now. I have styled my hair to the T of Frances instructions and yet my hair has not magically grown back (surprise). Would not recommend at all.

Before curly cut

I was so excited to get my first curly cut! I was willing to cut off my dead ends, I explained my bottom layers are wavy and top are spirals.. aka I need long layers and the underneath to gain some bounce. She showed me about 1 inch she was taking off.. I ended up with a mullet. My spirals were cut off and my hair is wonky. I did learn some curly tips and some terminology.. butI'm too embarrassed to wear my hair down, I'm waiting for it to grow. Until then, it's braids for me. EDIT: after two weeks since cut and traveling, I was able to style my hair at home. I was nervous when I left the salon with less and looser curls.. it was pretty product heavy for my fine, thin hair. After a few weeks and my own products/resources/climate, I will embrace the cut as I grow out longer layers and have to show more pictures to specify my exact wants in cut.

Do not go to this salon. I saw Shadie Lujan two weeks ago after I had grown out my bangs and layers and needed a trim. She cut my bangs straight across with scissors and no layering, leaving the bangs super uneven. She also tried to frame my face way to far back into my hairline, behind my ears. I went to another girl at a different salon to get it fixed, who took the following photos before doing her best to fix it. I then reached back out to the salon several times via phone and was kept on hold for over 10 minutes, told I would get a callback and never got a call back. This happened 3 times. Then I got a response via email telling me because I went to another salon, I would not be eligible for a refund. I sent the photos to the manager, and I then got another response from Karyn the manager via email telling me in a nasty tone that she didn't see what was "supposedly" wrong with the original cut and that I "got too upset/frustrated" with the receptionist, even though our entire conversation I intentionally kept a calm tone - not easy, considering the manager refused to speak to me on the phone at all. In summary, do not go to The Station unless you want to be used as a guinea pig by stylists that don't know how to cut hair, then avoided, then chastised for attempting to fix their mistakes.

Thanks for giving me happy curls, Mary!
J K.

Mary is a great stylist. She looked at my hair, asked me the right questions and then worked her magic. Her shampoo/conditioning head massage was so good, I had a hard time holding a conversation, and I'm rarely at a loss for words. For curly hair they use the Deva process, which is a dry cut. They are willing to do it differently, but that seems to be the standard. I've been to Deva salons, and I've learned how to make their process work for me. I'm a little high maintenance with my curls. I like big hair, I like it diffused a certain way, I like my curls to be shaken...Mary worked with me and it was great. I've noticed one piece that seems to be a bit out of place, and Mary had told me to come on in if there was anything I need fixed. UPDATE: After washing my hair, one side was a good five+ inches longer than the other. I didn't have time to go back in, but I was pretty shocked to see such an oversight. I cut it myself, went back a couple months later and they gave me another woman who was not good, and should never touch curly hair. I've resisted going back since. When you have curly hair, the last thing you want to do is change your stylist or find a new salon. Overall, the Station was good: Friendly staff, convenient location, easy parking, smart prices and decent stylists. And there was a super cute puppy there. Pro tip: If you like/don't like a process, or want something done differently, say so!!! Don't be afraid to speak up!

About a year ago, I decided to color my greying hair for the first time. Having never done color before, I researched online and found Deseo Salon. I made an appointment for a consult and met the fabulous Rachel. From the moment I chatted with her, I trusted her implicitly. She understood my concerns, my hopes, and -- most importantly -- my hair. She was one of the warmest people I had ever met and our rapport was immediate. Since that time, I have come to know more about this young, brilliant stylist. She is gracious, effervescent, gentle, and interesting. I persuaded my husband -- who hadn't been to a stylist in about six decades -- to come with me and have Rachel cut his hair. He said that he now knew what I'd been raving about for months. Beyond Rachel, the salon is wonderful. They recently moved into new and upscaled quarters. It is contemporary and sleek, yet exudes a warm welcome; it is open and bright, and yet gives a feeling of privacy in each stylist's space; it is softly-scented, evoking a mood of calm and serenity, and yet there is enough bustle and enthusiastic conversation to highlight the camaraderie between stylist and client. Deseo is eco-conscious -- a place where sustainabillity feels indulgent, not austere! Being there is a restorative experience. The front desk staff is outstanding, too. On a very personal note, I want to share two quick stories. One day I arrived at my appointment and was suddenly called to a family member's medical emergency. Despite their policy about cancelled appointments, they understood, didn't charge me, and told me to take my time and that I could rebook whenever I wished. The first time my husband accompanied me, he was offered -- as is everyone upon entering -- a beverage. He requested decaf coffee which they did not have. Yesterday, on his second visit, the lovely receptionist told him that she had ordered decaf specifically because he had asked for it on his first visit. For someone to go above and beyond based on the "need" of one customer is a sign of the caring that this salon exhibits. I cannot say enough good things about Deseo. Go here! Relax here! Enjoy here! And definitely book Rachel. When you find yourself in Rachel's chair, you know that you're in the hands of a stunning and talented professional.

My request was simple: CHUNKY balayage. CHUNKYYYY. I had pictures to show what I wanted. Mostly warm highlights with some cool sprinkled in. I also asked to add texture to my hair but keep the length (it was below my bra line). Nope... goodbye 6 inches I didn't ask to lose (now it's just below my shoulders). I had THICK voluminous hair, and now it's like I have the Rachel haircut. They foiled my hair to death and I ended up almost platinum blonde when the foils came out, and then to add insult to injury, you could clearly see the lines where the highlights began where it looks almost burnt at the edges?? We went back in for another TWO hours to make it warmer, but by that time my hair was fried, and now I have a bald spot I didn't have before. He offered to fix it in another few weeks after my hair has had time to settle, but I'm never letting anyone there touch my head again. I'm too nice of a person and still managed to crack a semi smile when it was finally done, but now I'm left with tears and silent screaming to hold back my utter horror at what they left me with. If you didn't get the memo: I don't recommend them. Even after everything, he still had the audacity to charge me $250 (discounted) and said I didn't need to leave a tip. Umm, thanks? God only knows how long this is going to take to fix... Should've gone to Fluff Bar. Thanh, you should've comp'd it and ask I not leave a bad review, which I totally would've said yes to not doing. Lesson learned? Was the juice really worth the squeeze? Looks like I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them? Ladies or gents: If you want balayage or any kind of coloring service, do NOT go here. This is NOT their specialty. Run. UPDATE: Went to a highly reviewed salon a few days after my visit with Vo where I had two pros look at my hair to assess the situation (and probability of me somehow getting what I originally wanted), and both agreed that what Vo did to my hair was "pretty bad" and unprofessional. All I heard, as they were slowly combing and lifting through my hair, were soft whispers and gasps of horror with the occasional, "Girl look at this... omg..." After hearing what they could do to fix the mess Vo left me with (weeks of painstaking piece meal work and god-knows-how-much-money) I ultimately decided to have them take me back to my original brown so I could start over from square one. THAT'S how bad it was. All that time and money just to go back to brown and have my hair be short and thin instead of long and thick. God I could scream. I appreciate you offering to fix the mess you left me with, Thanh, but no thanks. I would much rather you spend the time you would've taken on fixing my hair to spending it on some coloring courses instead. Just because you own a salon doesn't mean you've mastered the art of hair. The other guy whom you trained on the fly with me has a lot of learning to do also. I could tell he didn't know what he was doing and yet you still let him touch my hair while you juggled two other clients. Unacceptable service. On top of that, neither you or the other guy ever made small talk with me, which I've never experienced at a salon in all my life. Like, not a single word or question about my day or even my name. Even if you guys had done a great job, I still wouldn't have come back due to that alone. K I'm done. Lesson learned I hope. Best of luck to you.

This appointment had been scheduled months in advance. When I received the 48-hour reminder text, I was in the middle of moving and in one of the busiest stretches of my work year. I immediately tried to call to cancel, but they were closed that day and there was no clear way to cancel through any other method. Because of everything going on, calling back the next day unfortunately slipped my mind. On the day of the appointment, they called me, and I apologized for missing it and explained the situation. During that conversation, it sounded like they might be able to work with me to avoid being charged for a service I didn't receive. However, a few days later I checked my bank account and saw that I had been charged the full amount. While I understand this may be their official policy, I reached out again to explain that I had attempted to cancel and had no available option to do so within the 48-hour window. What followed was a drawn-out process where I was consistently never called back in the time frame I was told and ultimately I was informed I would still be responsible for the full charge. After three years of loyalty--and even considering recommending them for my brother's upcoming wedding--this experience was extremely disappointing.

When I pointed out the mistake, she said she would no longer do my hair, and referred me to another stylist. This was insulting but I nevertheless scheduled a correction appointment with the 2nd stylist who explained the error made by the first stylist, why my hair looked like it did, and how she could fix it. Even though Stylist 1 made the mistake which was clearly conveyed by Stylist 2, I decided to let the 1st stylist off the hook and paid for a consult rather than having a correction on her proverbial 'record'. There was nothing the 2nd stylist could do to fix it at that moment anyway and I didn't want any awkward encounters with the other stylist going forward. I just wanted her to fix my hair and then maintain it. After 3 visits with Stylist 2, my hair was 'fixed' and we were humming along. There were a few more mistakes made but nothing major and I never said anything about them. Stylist 2 indicated it would be getting easier since she'd mapped out exactly where to apply the color going forward. When I attempted to schedule my 7th visit, the salon said they were going to have to increase my fees to a full custom color rather than the partial foil I'd received in the prior 6-7 visits. I had been getting a reverse highlight applying color to small sections (low-lights, basically) which was considered (by Hendrix) to be a partial foil from Day 1. I argued that neither the process nor the time involved had changed and I saw no reason to increase my already top tier fee. I was also frustrated at being rescheduled 3 times and it was seeming as though they would rather lose a client than continue to do my hair. I'm really disappointed because my hair was getting really good and I was excited for the next visit but they rescheduled two appointments and then with the third call to AGAIN reschedule and push my appt further out, sprang the price increase on me...and that was the last straw. Their response when I indicated I would not be rescheduling their latest cancelation was "we understand your decision". You understand my decision? You didn't even make any effort to help me understand yours. And I just want to note that I didn't mention the names of the two stylists because I'm not vindictive and I don't believe in public shaming of anyone regardless of the circumstances but suffice it to say I definitely did not feel valued as a customer. If that changes, I'll let ya know.
