Came back after a few months of Big Fish Sushi being open to update my review. The service is a lot more confident from the last time I was here, and in fact may be a bit overattentive now. My order was the chirashi lunch special with my friend getting the chicken teriyaki bento box. The food arrived quickly and was overall much better than my first visit. The only thing to note was that the three slices of hamachi in the chirashi bowl had a very weird texture. I'm not sure what caused it, maybe an overzealous application of lemon juice? Either way, it was a bit suspect and I didn't finish those cuts specifically. Big Fish still has room to grow, but they have definitely improved from the first few days after opening. read more

Nice dinner here tonight. Freshest edamame to start, followed by spicy tuna roll and Very tasty California roll. Hubby had Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box which included salad, miso soup, rice, teriyaki chicken, complete California Roll, 2 piece gyoza, 1 tempura shrimp, and tempura veggies -- so much food! Visited Big Fish Sushi for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The place was busy with business people, but we got seated right away. Ordered 2 bento boxes and 3 rolls off the lunch menu. It all tasted great and had a nice presentation - maybe spicy rolls could be spicier. The staff was attentive with water, take away boxes, and friendly service. As much as we wanted this local restaurant to be good, we can't give it more than 2 stars at this time. Their version of Miso soup was very diluted and not very tasty. The tempura had a thick coating of crust on the shrimp, instead of a thin, delicate one. The teriyaki chicken was dry and not flame-broiled that we could tell. More like sauce on plain chicken rather than a caramelized teriyaki sauce coating. Also, white rice only, no brown. Prices were pretty good, but food quality needs to improve. read more

My wife and I have eaten at most of the sushi places on the east side and feel that this is one of the best. The variety of dishes is impressive and the quality of what we had was fantastic I can't wait to try everything. I am looking forward to eating here regularly. Clean and good service. Taste was far from ideal compared to traditional Japanese sushi. Sashimi quality is low -- too thin, and some of them were still frozen. Noodle soup was horrible, which I've never experienced from any other Japanese noodle soup. read more

I seldom write review, but I don't think this deserve a 4.5 star review. Ordered tofu, and it was like 1cm thick and the batter was even thicker than the tofu. This is just 1/2 the portion size of what I normally have in other Japanese restaurant. The taste of the miso soup is too light to get a compliment. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. When placing my order online today, the website automatically sends you to their Bothell location. The bothell location called me when the order was placed and confirmed it was for the Sammamish location, but that wait time was an hour. After an hour I went in to find my order was never placed. The front desk was very apologetic but referred me to someone else who just asked if I wanted to order. No apology, no comp on the food and told me it would be another 40 minutes for the food. In fact, she just acted like it was my fault because they were busy. When I asked to get a refund on the tip (at the least!) I was told that because I ordered online they couldn't split out the costs. When pressed further they said maybe they could refund it in cash but didn't tell the front desk. 40 minutes later I come back to find it's another 20 minutes. It's now 2 hours for my food, with again no effort done to make anything right. Including being told that they'll refund my tip by tomorrow but the refund on the tip in cash isn't possible. Who knows if the food is any good, but after 2 hours of waiting, miscommunication, and lack of customer care, it doesnt matter. I won't be back. Update: after nearly 2.5 hours I recieved my food. Part of the order was wrong and it was certainly not worth 2.5 hours, or honestly the cost of the sushi. Small portions for decent sushi but nothing amazing. read more

My husband and I have been in a few times and alway loved the place. Everything fresh and everyone friendly. During this social distancing time we decided to order out and treat ourselves and our son and his fiance to Big Fish. I called inadvance to make sure our choices could be made without any sesame products due to allegies. I was assured the items we chose would not have sesame. I orderd online and left a comment with each item selected stating no sesame. My son went to pick up our order and as they were handing him the the bags the man said, Is someone allergic to sesame? When told yes he said let me mark the items with no sesame on your reciept. He marked three iitems out of 13. When opening the food two of the items he said had no sesame had sesame seed sprinkled over the top. Each item listed on the reciept showed my ordering comment, "no sesame."They were unresponsive when we called to complain. They have lost our business. read more

Calamari was absolutely delicious! I loved the dipping sauce it came with. We also got a few rolls-California roll, dream salmon roll, volcano roll, and Phoenix roll. All of the rolls were absolutely delicious! My favorite out of all of them was the salmon roll. We also got the spicy classic pork loin ramen which was okay. It's not what you would expect if you were to order a spicy ramen at a ramen restaurant, but the noodles were classic ramen noodles (which was nice), and there was a coconut hint, which was different. read more

We've already gone twice this week - we're big fans of Big Sushi! VERY good service and excellent food with beautiful presentation. I didn't know I liked eating orchids until we ate there. Shout out for the sauces - you get a different sauce for different items, not just the same icky sweet sauce for everything. We also are in love with their tempura - it's just perfection. Atmosphere is good. We had the worst Bento Box EVER!! The Chicken Teriyaki had no flavor and had a weird texture. DRY & SPONGY...almost like fake chicken! It was as though they used premade-presliced chicken from a frozen bag. They are not in the kitchen cooking your chicken from scratch to order! The Gyoza was absolutely terrible! In the bento box you get maybe a 1/3 Cup of rice. Not enough. The salad you get looks delightful when it comes with spring mix only layering the top until you take one bite only to discover they masked the yellow Ice Berg pile below it and no dressing. Who are you kidding with this move? So disappointing to think that the owner thinks this is impressive?? Miso soup was bland had no flavor and this too seemed like an add water and mix. The Tempura was uneatable, cold, and the sauce had zip flavor. ALL from a premade bag. The tempura on the vegetables had globs of batter, and way undercooked while the shrimp tempura had a completely different kind of tempura coating. Again, all premade frozen food you can get at Costco restaurant supply. The California roles in the box were so tiny and not like the roles they serve when you order them separately. We guess they thought we would not notice that either. Yes, their sushi presentation maybe beautiful, but sad to say it comes down to quality of food for our party of 4 adults. This place will not attract the business from savvy Japanese food lovers like our group who KNOW and can instantly spot the difference. It will be a one time stop for those to come. Also, we were not happy to see 2 T.V's hanging on the wall for the dining room prices they ask! There's no real dining experience to be had here. There's obviously a whole other crowd out there who are easily pleased and will find this place to be their go-to spot. But we will not be back. We will remain loyal to our downtown Bothell location who serves TRUE Sushi and does cook to order! Nevertheless, we wish BIG Fish well. read more
