We haven't been here for many years since we don't really live in the area, but after our eye exam, we figured we would get some food to go. We walked in about 3:30pm on a Wednesday and ordered three meals. There were two other people waiting for pick up, but other than that the place was pretty empty. It only took about 5-10 minutes for our food to get done and then we took it to go. The chicken teriyaki was pretty tasty, but kind of had a sweet taste to it that we weren't used to. It also seemed that there was much more rice than chicken. The chicken itself didn't have very much flavor to it we noticed. We also ordered a chicken Yakisoba that was tasty. It had a lot more meat to it than vegetables and also included a large side of rice. The third dish we ordered was a Kung pao chicken. This was quite different than we expected because the chicken was breaded and soaked in a sweet sauce with hardly any vegetables or peanuts in it. It tasted OK but I don't think we would buy it again. All in all, this teriyaki place is pretty good. There are a few better ones in the area, but a lot more worse ones. read more

Delivery review In short The menu is similar to many other yaki places you probably already know and love. People say the best yaki is probably the one close to you, but I love trying 'em all, and this one more than rewarded my curiosity. In long I was gonna be good and finish off leftovers for dinner, but yesterday felt productive enough that I "earned" a little treat to enjoy as dinner with the Husky hoop game. And now I'll be re-heating pork chops for dinner tonight. Anyway, after waiting a few extra minutes for the flakiest, most-anxious delivery driver I've ever encountered, Midori showed up still hot and smelling awesome. Their menu on the apps is set up pretty well for substitutions and all that, but not quite tip-top. You'll get what you want in the end. In this case it was my usual, except with starches still under the meat. Spicy chicken teriyaki I have no earthly idea how spicy this might have been before I got my hands on it, because we had a bottle of Sriracha right there on the counter, which is now emptier than it was before dinner last night. But there was clearly a little punch from the restaurant, too. Not every bite got doused. This worked perfectly with spices added at home, thankfully. The chicken tasted and chewed like it was cut fresh before service, maybe even cut to order. Still really juicy, still really square edges along the cuts. Much more appetizing. Fried rice I really need to be good and put steamed veg or at least salad under the protein whenever possible. Couldn't do it on the app, though, so I got a couple bites of some nicely-seasoned fried rice. Good chew on the grains, and plenty of fresh-tasting veg scattered throughout. Gyoza They're all the same except for doneness, at least at teriyaki joints IME. These are good and flavorful, cooked until just a bit dry on the fold, nice chew to the rest of the wrapper. Great when drowned in Sriracha by hungry knuckleheads like me. They sent the usual $0.05 salad mix with a little sweet dressing. I should have plated this without rice and covered the salad myself in a bowl, but the game was tipping off so I skipped the salad and hurried in with clamshell in hand. Saved me a dish, but, unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the salad. They include a napkin and fork even if you forget to ask, and everything shows up in white clamshells in a lightweight plastic bag. Not the best from a recycling standpoint, but, hey, I didn't have to run the dishwasher or even any hot water. Midori is 100% in my rotation now, even being a couple towns over from my house. Wish we had tried this place before tonight. We ordered Beef teriyaki and General Tsao's chicken for pickup. So delicious and affordable - and generous portions. The teriyaki beef came with a salad in a separate container, and a full scoop of rice. The General Tsao's came with a salad and two scoops of rice. The beef was tender and the chicken was crispy and the sauce was so good. It was ready when they said and was steaming hot. When we got there I noticed that they make sushi rolls and they have bubble tea. We'll try that next time. Such nice staff and the food is delicious too! I always get the house bento which comes with chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura, gyoza, and an egg roll. Not sure if you could change the protein but I know you can get spicy teriyaki, might be a little extra. The sweet and sour pork is also a great dish and definitely one we'll be coming back for! The skin is crispy and the sauce has a good balance between sweet and sour and the crunchy vegetables are a good refresher to the fatty pork. Each meal comes with a drink which you can pick yourself at the drink fridge, and also comes with a side salad which helps with the filling meal, and the food is fairly priced as well. Yesterday I had one of the worst meals in my entire life. Midori has new owners, and the food is terrible. The friendly clerk was the only good thing yesterday. I ordered California rolls and beef teriyaki after finding out the owners had changed along with the menu being revamped. I couldn't find a bento box anywhere on the menu, which is what I was looking forward to, and the employee working didn't answer me when I asked about it. More on the service later. I have attached pictures of the plates given to me. There was one roll that had avocado. The rest of the rolls didn't have any avocado at all, which is a main component of a California roll. One of them had orange fish eggs on the bottom, so I know the chef was giving me the remnants of a previous order instead of starting fresh. The rice was starting to get hard from being old. Huge, huge blow because I love these and I can't see how one who makes sushi can make them so badly. The beef teriyaki was soaked in oil and grease. It was disgusting. I've never received teriyaki made this poorly. Again, the rice was getting old and chewy. The salad was a total joke. The dressing was watered down to be almost nonexistent. Pools of water with some kind of flavoring mixed in sat on the lettuce. I tried a bite and it was so bad. Another kick in the pants was seeing the pop fountain gone and replaced with a beverage cooler full of Shasta and squeeze fruit drinks. One of the draws to Midori was that you received a free soda when you ordered a meal. They still offer this, but in a can of Shasta. I didn't know Shasta was still in business. The grape flavor I picked was flat. In regards to service, the one clerk I encountered was really amped up to be at work and was a bit overboard in the friendly department. When I first started walking to the restaurant and saw the "under new management" sign in the window, I braced myself, and then when I saw the entire menu had changed, I was really dismayed. I mentioned I was taking a long time to order to her due to the menu changing, and she pointed out very quickly to me that it was the same - wok, teriyaki, side dishes. Yes, I can read, and have for 40 years. That isn't at all what I was talking about. I said that the menu CHANGED. Many entrees are gone, sushi was added, I thought the bento boxes were gone (turns out they have one but I couldn't find it on the menu and she didn't answer me when I asked about it), and the prices have been raised. The 55" flatscreen has been replaced with a 22" and it was set on tennis. Excitement. The walls are completely bare now, except for the huge scratches that look like Wolverine got angry. The long bench folks sat on to wait for their to go orders is still there, but the side table with magazines to make the wait go by faster is gone. Cheap, cheesy letters are glued to the cashier stand. Cases of Shasta sit next to the beverage cooler instead of being kept in the storage in back. People don't want to see random boxes of products laying around. You still order at the counter, and they still bring the food to you. However, the zealous extrovert really dialed it down when she brought out my food, clanking it on the table and moving my personal belongings which weren't in the way in the first place. I don't like strangers touching my stuff. There was only one other table with customers while I was there at lunchtime on a Saturday. Two people came and went for to go orders. I remember with the previous owners that it was always busy when I was there, even on a Tuesday night they might have been half full in the restaurant but their phone was ringing off the hook for to go orders. Stopped in here after I had asked my optician, ComfortVision which is next door, if this place was 'any good?' and the office staff all nodded and smiled enthusiastically. The dining room was clean, inviting, I just ordered the #1 chix teriyaki for dine in. They had a nice HDTV tuned to sports channel but no sound. Tables had soy, cock-sauce(Sriracha) and teriyaki bottle, S&P. They walked my order out to my table - wow huge portions, served on re-useable service ware (yay!). The salad is just iceberg lettuce roughly chopped and a very light dressing, i added a little S&P, found the shakers suffered from not being washed recently, if ever. I really liked the taste of the chicken thighs, which had a delightful char, I thought the teriyaki sauce was on the sweet side. Generous scoop of steamed white rice. Couldnt eat it all (surprise for me!) so got a small to-go box. They had an extremely busy to-go business here. I noted theyre still using styro (instead of recyclable material). So the +1 on portion/value side is negated by -1 on green rating I found out after I read the reviews here that fountain drinks are free; nowhere is this on the menu (is it?) nor did the cashier mention it. I love this place so much and consistently ask to come here over the abundance of teriyaki shops around. The lady who works the front counter is always super nice and you get such good portions I always have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
