So happy I found a sushi place I love. Everything we ate was amazing! If we had to pick, our favorite would probably be the Spicy Girl roll. Nice Sushi spot in a parking lot that is not too easy to get into. No entrance from the Main Street, so you have to know where you are going. The interior and service wear are newish and nice. The people were friendly too. The wife had a roll and GYOZA and I had the tempura ramen. The wife's was very good and she really enjoyed the steamed Gyoza (normally fried). She orders a special roll that is rarely done correct eve though it is simple. They nailed it. The tempura shrimp that came with my ramen was very good. Unfortunately that's where the positives in the Ramen ended. The broth was warm not hot. I asked for spicy and there was no spice to it. The ramen had a soft boiled egg that looked the correct cook, but it had obviously been cooked and refrigerated. The uncooked center was cold since the Luke warm broth had not been able to heat it. Also the serving size for Ramen was on the very small side. We will be back for the Sushi and service, but we will keep searching for a good bowl of Ramen. read more

Asked for a bento box and asked to substitute some of the items cause I don't eat those and the waitress was rude. She was sighing and getting impatient with my questions, wasn't even willing to take the substitutions for an extra charge, and then when I asked to switch a roll from cucumber to avacado, rolled her eyes with a big sigh at me, later asked for extra ginger and she pointed at my plate saying it's there and ran away. Didn't bother to ask if I wanted anything else or if I'm doing good, nothing. Needless to say, this reflected on her tip but had to write this review too. Don't expect a tip if you being rude to the customer. read more

This is a new sushi restaurant and it had great reviews. I've been to many, many sushi restaurants and I always sit at the bar. I love ordering my food directly to the chef that is going to create my food. I'm going to arrange this review into categories. Great, good, indifferent, and bad. The Great: the fish is amazing. So fresh and tender and delicious. I had a Spicy Tuna Roll to start. Excellent! I then had some Nigiri. Tuna, Yellowtail, Albacore, Scallops and Eel. All were of the highest quality and tasted wonderful. The Good: It is a bright new dining room. Not very large so it might fill up quickly. The dishes are presented in a way that I've come to expect from a Japanese restaurant. The Indifferent: Prices seemed high for Sake. Nothing below $10.00 but that's typical. Prices on Nigiri are also expected so no surprise. The Bad: I may be nitpicking here, but when I sit at a sushi bar I expect to give my orders directly to the chef who will then create the delicacy. Not so here at Big Fish. You order from a server. WHAT?? This defeats the whole point of sitting at the bar. When I sat down, a server came over and gave me the menu. I looked at it but already had an idea of what I wanted. I told her I would just do ala carte. I then ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll from the chef. He made it, but told the server what I had ordered. Now I'm confused. When I finished the roll, I wanted to order more. I told the chef and he gestured to the server. I have never in almost 40 years of eating at sushi bars had to order from the server. Weird! If I go back I'll just sit at a table. There's little point at sitting at the bar. One last thing. This is a trend here in the Seattle area. No wasabi on the Nigiri. None. And the stuff they give you on the plate has no heat. With the fish being so good, it ruins the taste you get from that combination of sushi rice, fish, wasabi and soy sauce. This is the second place I've noticed that does this and I don't like it. Maybe I'll just stick with Izumi in Totem Lake. read more

We have ordered from Big Fish regularly during the pandemic however this is the first time eating inside. Unlike the poor service from other places due to reduced staff the team here was awesome. Starting with the bright side, the rolls we ordered were pretty good. Lots of filling, well packaged for takeout and clearly fresh. However, there are 2 reasons for only 3 stars. First, I placed my order with a specific pickup time. 20 minutes before that time, I got a call that our order was ready. So great for timely service. Bad for keeping food hot, since we requested a specific pickup time due to another errand we had to run. Hot food was stone cold and soggy by the time we got it home. Second, be aware that their tempura udon is actually ebi-furai udon with ramen broth. It was a weird mish-mash of Japanese/Chinese dishes that was in no way delicious. I did not like the heavier breaded shrimp in the equally heavy tonkostu broth. Having grown up eating authentic Japanese, this dish just ended up being a weird assault on my tastebuds. Bottom line, stick to their sushi. Know it's nowhere near authentic. Enjoy the creativity of their rolls. read more

Big fan of this new sushi place. I have been craving another high quality sushi place in the area other than Hana sushi and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the California roll, which used high quality snow crab meat, and the Sake Don (really good salmon sashimi over a bed of rice. The Sake Don was incredibly filling for the price, definitely ordering again. I only did a to go order but the staff was very friendly when I placed my order. Good sushi spot for being in the middle of thrashers corner. The sushi menu is deep and has interesting variations on rolls with rice paper options as well as traditional style rolls. Your could tell the imagination from the menu as many rolls I've never heard of or seen. Most importantly the fish was fresh and well cut when served sashimi. We will be back. read more

We live nearby and have been very skeptical to try this sushi place. Boy was I wrong! This is hands down the best sushi place in Bothell and may be the best on the Eastside. The fish is so fresh and tasty. We ordered the Lollipop roll $13.95 cucumber was crisp and refreshing and the Phoenix roll $12.95 which was equally tasty. Also had 6 pieces of Sake Sashimi $14.25 the quality is top notch. My only complaint is I wished I would have ordered more. This was takeout. This is nowhere near the best or one of the top sushi. I came with a coworker just to check it out and the food is average at best. I had miso soup, takoyaki, gyoza and a dragon roll. The best was the gyoza, The bonito flakes on the takoyaki were way too big and dry. The octopus in the takoyaki itself was chewy and the outside of it all was a tad on the dry side as well. The dragon roll was okay, nothing special. I looked around and noticed that the rolls were not well made and the rice can probably do with a little more flavor for sushi rice. Like others have said, their wasabi is very very bland. They blamed it on the fact that customers complained about the wasabi being too spicy before but that doesn't make sense because they could use less. Either way, they don't have any wasabi that is actually spicy. Made a big impact on the taste of the sushi. read more

I was excited for the opening once Im a neighbor. Well, we were really welcome at the arrival, they offered my son a kids tool for helping him eat. Food arrived in a good time and was fresh. We went here for lunch and ordered the sushi lunch and sushi/sashimi lunch, which came with very thin pieces of fish and a California roll that I've never seen before. Prices were $13.95 and $14.95. we met the part- owner and expressed that their fish was mushy and overpriced. He didn't agree. All I can say is their are other places with greater value. We very much enjoyed our first visit! The cuts of fish were very "melt in your mouth" well done, and the sauces that accompanied them were very good! The restaurant was a bit busier that we expected, but the wait wasn't more than 15 minutes and it's nice to see that even with this many people the chefs are able to produce such delicious food :) Highly recommend the sushi sandwich, the seared tuna salad, and tuna tartare. The house sake was very nice as well! We'll definitely be back, and took a menu home to study further because there were lots of interesting things that we'd still love to try. A good place for lunch. The seared tuna salad was spicy and the tuna was good. I like tuna to be a bit firmer, and it didn't quite live up to the menu photo. Would give this place a 3.5. Excellent customer service, fun atmosphere, and their menu selection is pretty extensive. They have sushi, Ramen, and more. I was expecting a lot more regarding the taste and portions based on reviews. The taste wasn't bad, but nothing special. The fish slices on the sushi were so thin. The Toro wasn't bad but not the melt in your mouth buttery taste I've had at other places. The uni was terrific. I've had better at other places in Lynnwood, Kirkland and Seattle. Sad to give them only 3.5 cause their customer service is superb, but there is room for improvement with their food. read more

Ate dinner here on Friday Night. The food and wait staff was excellent. I had the shrimp teriyaki bento box which was delicious!! The decor flowed nicely with the presentation of the food. A lot of wood accents and entrees served in wooden boats!! Will definitely visit again when I am back in Bothell!! read more
