Starting with the bright side, the rolls we ordered were pretty good. Lots of filling, well packaged for takeout and clearly fresh. However, there are 2 reasons for only 3 stars. First, I placed my order with a specific pickup time. 20 minutes before that time, I got a call that our order was ready. So great for timely service. Bad for keeping food hot, since we requested a specific pickup time due to another errand we had to run. Hot food was stone cold and soggy by the time we got it home. Second, be aware that their tempura udon is actually ebi-furai udon with ramen broth. It was a weird mish-mash of Japanese/Chinese dishes that was in no way delicious. I did not like the heavier breaded shrimp in the equally heavy tonkostu broth. Having grown up eating authentic Japanese, this dish just ended up being a weird assault on my tastebuds. Bottom line, stick to their sushi. Know it's nowhere near authentic. Enjoy the creativity of their rolls. read more

Big fan of this new sushi place. I have been craving another high quality sushi place in the area other than Hana sushi and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the California roll, which used high quality snow crab meat, and the Sake Don (really good salmon sashimi over a bed of rice. The Sake Don was incredibly filling for the price, definitely ordering again. I only did a to go order but the staff was very friendly when I placed my order. Good sushi spot for being in the middle of thrashers corner. The sushi menu is deep and has interesting variations on rolls with rice paper options as well as traditional style rolls. Your could tell the imagination from the menu as many rolls I've never heard of or seen. Most importantly the fish was fresh and well cut when served sashimi. We will be back. read more

We live nearby and have been very skeptical to try this sushi place. Boy was I wrong! This is hands down the best sushi place in Bothell and may be the best on the Eastside. The fish is so fresh and tasty. We ordered the Lollipop roll $13.95 cucumber was crisp and refreshing and the Phoenix roll $12.95 which was equally tasty. Also had 6 pieces of Sake Sashimi $14.25 the quality is top notch. My only complaint is I wished I would have ordered more. This was takeout. Like others have said, their wasabi is very very bland. They blamed it on the fact that customers complained about the wasabi being too spicy before but that doesn't make sense because they could use less. Either way, they don't have any wasabi that is actually spicy. Made a big impact on the taste of the sushi. read more

This is nowhere near the best or one of the top sushi. I came with a coworker just to check it out and the food is average at best. I had miso soup, takoyaki, gyoza and a dragon roll. The best was the gyoza, The bonito flakes on the takoyaki were way too big and dry. The octopus in the takoyaki itself was chewy and the outside of it all was a tad on the dry side as well. The dragon roll was okay, nothing special. I looked around and noticed that the rolls were not well made and the rice can probably do with a little more flavor for sushi rice. The rolls were big and not very tight. Don't expect too much. read more

I was excited for the opening once Im a neighbor. Well, we were really welcome at the arrival, they offered my son a kids tool for helping him eat. Food arrived in a good time and was fresh. I also liked the way they were always smiling and provided a good and happy experience for us! High recommend. We went here for lunch and ordered the sushi lunch and sushi/sashimi lunch, which came with very thin pieces of fish and a California roll that I've never seen before. Prices were $13.95 and $14.95. we met the part- owner and expressed that their fish was mushy and overpriced. He didn't agree. All I can say is their are other places with greater value. We very much enjoyed our first visit! The cuts of fish were very "melt in your mouth" well done, and the sauces that accompanied them were very good! The restaurant was a bit busier that we expected, but the wait wasn't more than 15 minutes and it's nice to see that even with this many people the chefs are able to produce such delicious food :) Highly recommend the sushi sandwich, the seared tuna salad, and tuna tartare. The house sake was very nice as well! We'll definitely be back, and took a menu home to study further because there were lots of interesting things that we'd still love to try. A good place for lunch. The seared tuna salad was spicy and the tuna was good. I like tuna to be a bit firmer, and it didn't quite live up to the menu photo. Would give this place a 3.5. Excellent customer service, fun atmosphere, and their menu selection is pretty extensive. They have sushi, Ramen, and more. I was expecting a lot more regarding the taste and portions based on reviews. The taste wasn't bad, but nothing special. The fish slices on the sushi were so thin. The Toro wasn't bad but not the melt in your mouth buttery taste I've had at other places. The uni was terrific. I've had better at other places in Lynnwood, Kirkland and Seattle. Sad to give them only 3.5 cause their customer service is superb, but there is room for improvement with their food. read more

Ate dinner here on Friday Night. The food and wait staff was excellent. I had the shrimp teriyaki bento box which was delicious!! The decor flowed nicely with the presentation of the food. Came back after a few months of Big Fish Sushi being open to update my review. The service is a lot more confident from the last time I was here, and in fact may be a bit overattentive now. My order was the chirashi lunch special with my friend getting the chicken teriyaki bento box. The food arrived quickly and was overall much better than my first visit. The only thing to note was that the three slices of hamachi in the chirashi bowl had a very weird texture. I'm not sure what caused it, maybe an overzealous application of lemon juice? Either way, it was a bit suspect and I didn't finish those cuts specifically. Big Fish still has room to grow, but they have definitely improved from the first few days after opening. read more

Hubby had Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box which included salad, miso soup, rice, teriyaki chicken, complete California Roll, 2 piece gyoza, 1 tempura shrimp, and tempura veggies -- so much food!
