What a name for a restaurant! Big Fattys has decent barbecue in Vermont. You get to seat yourself but be warned: there's limited seating available and it gets packed indoors on Saturday nights. Fatty's also has a large salad bar for vegetarians or those who need fiber to accompany their heavy meat dish. There's live folk music on Thursday thru Saturday from 5:00-7:30PM. I loved my Fatty Daddy burger and was pleasantly surprised to have mac and cheese on top of my patty. Not pictured is the delicious burger with mac and cheese oozing down the sides XD

May 3, 2024 - Day 4 of my East Coast Trip : Stayed down the street and I couldn't say no to this place. So very, very good. I'm still updating my current reviews and will put more info soon. Thank yall for your patience! I tried so many places this past year all over, I'm glad to share my experiences!

The image shows a cooked beef brisket with a dark, caramelized exterior, indicating a smoked or slow-cooked preparation. The brisket is sliced, revealing a tender, juicy interior with visible muscle fibers. The meat is placed on parchment paper, suggesting it was recently prepared or served in a barbecue setting.

this is the type of food that is going to put you in the most relaxing and deserved food coma. the brisket was tender and delicious and the ribs were great too especially for being so far from the south this place is good for vermont. good beer selection. the place was very crowded which was fine but there was not a lot of flipping of tables so we ate our food in the car.

The girls were friendly, not a lot of chitchat. I like the brisket I wish they were cut thinner but I do love their baked beans! Not sure why it takes so long for the food to come out when the only food piping hot are the beans. My daughter didn't like the Mac n cheese, she said it doesn't taste like anything and it's fatty. It would have probably helped if the food came out hot or at least warm, instead you can see the fat solidified.

German lager - very good - A clear glass of beer with a golden hue and a small amount of foam on top is placed on a white napkin on a dark wooden table. The glass has a logo for Big Fatty's BBQ, including a pig silhouette inside an oval and the text "Big Fatty's BBQ" above. The background shows a restaurant setting with other tables and patrons, with warm lighting and a casual atmosphere.

Stopped into Big Fatty's for lunch soon after arriving in town. Full disclosure is we were trying to put eyes on the Elixir restaurant to make reservations and guess what - they share a parking lot with this place. The front door is decorated with a large pig statue and just inside there are two entrances - one into the dining area and one for selling the microbrews made locally. We entered the dining room to find all the tables taken but thanks to a super ambitious waiter and a courteous couple, we were seated at the other end of a table and ordered some drinks. Ordered a pulled chicken sandwich to eat and for a full restaurant with a continuous to-go line at the register I was surprised how quickly the food arrived. The pulled pork was good - I didn't notice any smoky flavor but it was good. The coleslaw that came with it was fair, fresh and crisp but lacking flavor. All in all an acceptable lunch on the fly in White River Jct. if I'm back I'd definitely try the brisket or ribs. Hopefully have more flavor.

Burnt ends 8oz - too much for me at one sitting - The image shows a serving of burnt ends covered in barbecue sauce, a piece of meatloaf, and a portion of coleslaw with shredded cabbage and carrots, all placed on brown paper. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment, with a fork and knife positioned on the right side of the plate. The background includes a wooden table surface.

I am in town for business. I stopped here 2 days in a row because the food is really amazing. It's not easy finding good BBQ up north so when I get some I go back for seconds. The staff are really friendly and when you enter seat yourself is nice. When it's busy don't expect instant service (just like southern BBQ joints) and the wait is worth it. The place is clean and not too loud. They also have a salad bar you can eat in or take out. I have to say the brisket is truly amazing and I wouldn't turn anything on the menu down. Happy camper here

Passing through town and found this place on Google Maps. After seeing the good reviews on Yelp, I decided to give it a try. I placed an order on the phone, and was told it'd take about 20 minutes. There is a big parking space outside the restaurant. There were about 4 tables of customers inside which was pretty surprising considering the weeknight and almost closing time. The staff was friendly and the order was ready when I got there. I ordered Combo 8oz briskets & 8oz burnt ends and Combo 1/4 ribs & pulled chicken. Combo order comes with a small slaw. The food was incredibly delicious and the flavor was marinated perfectly imo. Food was fresh and good portion. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely stop by again to try the smoked sausage. Note: I was so famished I forgot to take pictures before start eating hence only half of the food left when I got to take pictures lol.

Good bbq and fun atmosphere when bands are playing. There are many interesting local beers and ciders on tap. Good size portions.

Really good BBQ joint in the upper valley. They had live music when we went on the weekend. Staff were super attentive and friendly.

I am Celiac, so I was questioning different items on the menu to see if they were gluten-free. The majority of the waitstaff didn't know much about whether items were gluten-free or not. They did go back to the cooks and find out. We had the chips & guacamole, and street corn cob as an appetizer. The chips for the chips and guac were mostly broken, which was disappointing, but the guacamole was very good. The tortilla chips are not gluten-free. They are made of corn, but are cooked in the same fryer as the churros which means they are cross contaminated. The street corn on the cob was excellent and we found out, gluten-free. Two of the members of our group had burritos. They were very big and well wrapped. They both enjoyed them. The rest of us had tacos. We had Carne Asada. (Excellent!), tuna (also very good) and pork (excellent!). If you don't like spice, the pork is the way to go. I ordered the chickpea and sweet potato side with my tacos. It was so spicy it was un edible. Even those in our group who like a lot of spice said it was too much and I couldn't eat it. Overall, it was a great meal. We really enjoyed ourselves. The deck was nice and I did not get sick from cross contamination. Overall, Trail Break was a winner.

Honestly, I was hoping to have a soup of some type but there was none available on the menu so I opted for the chicken salad Sandwich (didn't seem a very Turkish fare), but it was good...although the Sandwich needed more chicken salad to offset the thick Texas toast; there really was very little on the Sandwich. My husband had their PLT, a sandwich that had more substance to it (there was more bacon on it than there was chicken on my sandwich)...but again, both sandwiches tasted good. To drink we tried a couple of their cocktails and while tasty and unique they were very speedy, $16 is far too much to charge for them...the price definitely prevented me from having another, and when we go back to have dinner...we probably will skip drinks (not worth $32 for two people.) Don't get me wrong, we aren't cheap people, we just want a good value...the drinks aren't that. Our server was great! He was friendly, helpful, and there when we needed him. Couldn't have asked for more from him. We did also have a hot appetizer. I forget the name of it now, it was $9 for 2, deep fried rolls (like egg rolls of a sort but with Philly dough and filled differently), these were very good...I could have eaten several, I wish I remembered what they were, but they are last on the list of hot appetizers so you can find them.
