My previous movers fell through & a couple of days before my move I found Big Beard Moves. They were able to get back to me quickly & book me that day for the upcoming weekend. I had to technically move twice since I was gonna be in between apartments for a week. They moved me out of my apartment to a garage & then to my current apartment a couple days later. Both times they were quick and efficient. Austin, John, & Duhon moved me into my new apartment in less than an hour and a half. They even set up my washer for me. I was booked for 3pm on Saturday - Nathan never said he was squeezing me in he said yes see you at 3pm after we booked. Here are the list of issues: 1. The guys came 3 hours late. And no accurate updates of eta were given 2. They were tired. It was their 3rd move- they were also quite disgruntled 3. Because they were so tired - it took much longer - probably about 1-1.5 hours longer. They were slow and needed breaks- I would too if I had 3 jobs! 4. No clear communication of pricing was done. They over charged me by 30$. Nathan said he would mail me back the check and I would pay by credit card. He then 2 days later cashed my check. After I called him he told me he would send me a check for 30$ to reimburse me. Well folks it's over 1 Month later and I haven't received my check. The began working promptly and nonstop, with the exception for lunch, with no complaint, no mishaps, and no damages to any of our items. Working with them was great and I would do it again. Movers were 12 hours late!!!!!! And I was they very first person they should of moved that day. The only reason they get a 2 and not a 1 is because Nathan was very apologetic and threw an extra person on the team when they finally showed up .Though I had to call to find out they were going to be that late. Made a stressful weekend way worse when I didn't get moved in until MIDNIGHT!!!! Didn't give me a discount for being late though the extra person cut off maybe a little time. Ricky and John were both nice and efficient as they moved my stuff to the truck. The only reason that I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was no introduction when they knocked on my door and I had to ask if they were from the moving company. Also I was charged for 3 hours instead of 2. Nathan said this was because they start charging once they leave the shop, but I mapped the distance and it would take less than 30 minutes (with traffic) to get to my apartment from their shop. After almost a month and a half of my closing getting pushed back, I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to close and move before my current lease ended. It was already a week and a half before I had to move out and I still didn't close. However, I knew I had to hire movers in case everything just magically worked out in my favor. I reached out to several moving companies on Yelp and Nathan from big beard moves promptly responded. He gave me a quote which I felt was very competitive and reasonable. The tricky thing was that I couldn't schedule an actual appointment. Nathan worked with me even when I gave him a possible range of moving dates. Throughout the course of a very stressful week and a half, I kept Nathan up to date on how things were going and he was always prompt to respond and reassured me that he and his crew would do what they could to help make my move easier. Thank goodness I did close and within just one day's notice, Nathan setup a move time with his crew. His crew, Jacob and John, quickly and carefully packed up, loaded and moved my belongings to my new place. Note that I lived on the third floor! So this was a huge burden lifted off my shoulders. My wife and I reached out to Big Beard Moves on short notice for a move that needed to be done on a tight schedule. We were told that there was a cancellation and that our move could be done at 11:00am Monday. The day of, the movers called at 9:56 and said they would arrive in about 20 minutes, a little earlier than our scheduled time. Being on a tight schedule, we had to rush to be at our home in order to be ready for them to arrive. We get home at 11:00. No movers... At 11:06, a driver called saying they were 15 minutes out. At 11:44, still no one had called or arrived so I called the driver, who answered with a "yeah?" No company identification. I explain who I am and that we're waiting. He says they are just around the corner. I wait a bit longer. It's now been an hour past the scheduled arrival time. So at 12:09, I call and cancel. I understand that this was short notice and that it is Labor Day, but that being said, if you say you are going to do something, do it. This was my only day off to handle this this week. Extremely disappointed with this company. If your move is time-sensitive, I would go with someone else. read more

I had a great experience with Big Beard Moves. My elderly parents needed someone to move an adjustable bed out of their bedroom while they had some flooring replaced. We also needed them to return after about a week to move the bed back. I called movers and even mattress stores looking for someone who was willing to help for a reasonable price. One mover quoted me $500!! (WAY too much to move a queen sized bed out of one room and into the next room all on the same floor!) I had to move from a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator to a 1 story house. Nathan set up my move and was extremely accommodating and customer service focused, which is why I went with this company. From taking apart and reassembling my iron bedframe to removing and remounting my tv, removing my bolted on satellite dish, removing my fancy showerhead, picking up and installing a refrigerator from storage, and even disposing of a heavy, bulky, unwieldy pine chest for FREE (just the hourly charge), these guys came through in the clutch for me. Most companies will either drop off a heavy item at a trash site or landfill, which costs a lot of money, but this company has their OWN DISPOSAL SITE. And from the other quotes I got, remounting a tv is not really DONE. Plus, most companies would charge an extra trip fee for the storage building stop. I had 3 guys: Orlando, John, and Jacob, and I legit MISSED them when they left. Jacob kept picking things up and yelling, "ooh that thing's got some POWER", which cracked me uppp. Some of their huge feats of strength: Orlando picking up the pine chest himselfff (this thing is like 4x4 and 3 ft high, 250 lbs), Orlando picking up my massive dresser himself (maybe even more weight, not sure), Jacob carrying down an 80 lb piece of glass on his shoulder, John taking my like 9 ft sofa down OVER HIS SHOULDER HIMSELF....Insane. I struggle with my weight and have some pretty seriously limiting health issues, and I truly could not have done it without these folks. Y'all cross reference against my other reviews and see if I am nice to businesses (I usually only review if I am annoyed lol)....I had had a super bad experience during my first move with a different company: their guys were THREE HOURS LATE with no noticeee and they broke my favorite bowls then blamed ME for them dropping the box. I requested a quote via yelp and Nathan provided a competitive rate. I hired this company specifically because of his quick response and seemingly positive attitude. I also like to hire small companies and respected he was out there trying his best. We just needed some help moving our large items into the truck that we were driving to Colorado. Moving day came around and we had scheduled for a 9-10am. I did request they came closer to 10am since our title company rescheduled paperwork to be signed earlier that morning. Nathan called around 9:15 to say he was going to run a few personal errands but would be over soon. 11:30 or so we call and leave a message. By noon, I'm really concerned about the weather, I send a text message with my concerns. 1:30pm we get a phone call from another employee that saying they are down south but can be to us around 2pm. At this point I had been calling other companies to help us, due to no communication whatsoever from Nathan. We agree to go forward with the mover who gave us a call since we're already 4 hours behind schedule. We had hoped to be finished with everything in the early afternoon so we could get some rest before driving 15 hours across country but this didn't happen. I understand things happen, but the lack of communication was completely unprofessional. He did quickly answer his employees phone call when they called to say it only took an hour since my husband and I already loaded half the truck with one year old in tow. He agreed to break his two hour policy here. ‍ It has been about 10 days since our move and Nathan hasn't reached out once to address the moving issues and lack of communication. Moving is stressful as it is, having to worry your movers aren't going to show up takes it to another level. We used big beard recently to do a move from our home into a storage POD. The team arrived on time and were ready to get to work. They reviewed all of the items we would be putting into the storage cabinet and did a great job "packing" the POD itself in a very organized way to maximize the room inside. Friendly and respectful team but unfortunately when it comes to showing up on time and preventing damages to property is another story. Many of our furniture were purchased in Europe and are now antiques, owner assured me great care to these furniture (grandfather clock now does not sound due to banging to door frame during move just as an example) Here are some other examples: * Scheduled my move for early Saturday morning and 1 day prior to move owner called and asked if the move can be moved to Sunday since he had a family situation and he wanted to be at site to make sure all was going well so I accepted for Sunday at 9am (1st inconvenience) and owner didn't even show up on Sunday. * Moving team showed up over 4 hours late on Sunday (after 11:30am) claiming owner gave them wrong address (2nd inconvenience) * Since team reported late and one man short, they did not complete move on Sunday and requested to move rest on Monday and will make sure to show up on time at 2:30pm. I specifically emphasized to report on time since now I had to reschedule one of my appts we had for Monday. Team did not show until close to 4:30pm which forced me to cancel one of the 2 appts I schedule weeks in advance (3rd inconvenience). * Our house is brand new and had some damage to corners due to team having to rush (both days finishing close to 11pm) * Several other damages found during and after unpacking, some of which are irreplaceable items... owner did subtract from overall charge but to do repairs and/ or replacement, it will cost more than what was subtracted. I can keep going on but I will have to say this is the worst experience we have had with over 6 moves in the past 40 years, two of which were overseas moves with no issues... read more

They did a good job on the move. The folks were cheerful through the entire move well into the night. They could do a better job of estimating since they ran out of time doing a full move. They took my money and proceeded to pack the items on a pallet that was too big to be removed from the storage facility. They then said they would rectify, never did and ghosted me. Editing my review and removing a few stars -- the move itself was great. However, about a week after I went to do some stuff around my new apartment and realized my toolbox was missing. I contacted Nathan and he eventually got back to me after I texted him asking again 6 days later saying that yes, it had been left on the truck and offered to drop it off to me. It was supposed to be returned to me on a Monday. Instead I received a text asking to reschedule for Tuesday, I said sure no problem. Never heard from him. I texted again that Friday, no response. I texted again the next Friday, no response. Texted again on Wednesday, no response. The next Sunday (27 days after I initially asked for it back) I texted again. Monday I received a response that he had actually shipped me a replacement from amazon because he just didn't have time to bring mine to me. Never received that, and also, why would you not respond to someone and let them know that was what you were doing or just ask me to come pick it up from you? So I respond and ask if I can just pick it up myself. He said he'd have to see where it was and get back to me. It's been a week with no update and my patience and willingness to follow up anymore is gone. At this point, I don't care about the toolbox. I'm updating this review to tell people check the truck yourself and make sure you have all your stuff because you won't get it back. I understand it's just a toolbox, and I bought new tools weeks ago because I couldn't sit around waiting for him to get back to me to do the things I needed to do, but it's a matter of getting back what belongs to me and it shouldn't be this difficult. I certainly understand that people are busy, but a simple text takes 30 seconds. He had no problem texting me three times asking me to give them a Yelp review, but apparently once they get that they don't care. Can't say enough good things about these guys!! They showed up ready to work and were meticulous and so careful in moving all of my stuff. Not only that, but they did it quickly and for a great price! Like Erik B. said below - poor communication. If you value your time I suggest you call a different moving company. Nathan the owner said he would come to my home between 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm, to provide a better estimate for the moving job as I had a unique piece of equipment I needed to move. The meeting time came and went. No text, no phone call. I then called Nathan at 5:00 p.m. and he simply stated he got tied up at another location and was now caught in traffic. He checked his GPS and said he could arrive within 1 hour and 10 minutes max. I told him that I would reschedule other things and I would continue to wait for him to arrive. Two hours went by and 7:00 p.m. came up and again no text, no phone call, nothing from Nathan. I sent a text to ask for an update and no response. I sent a second text later that evening and no response. The following morning, I thought for sure I would get a phone call, text, email, something with some explanation or apology for wasting my time, but nothing. If you value or care about your personal time and energy, spend it contacting a moving company that actually communicates with you. Apparently Big Beard Moves does not need any new business. Best deal I could find for two pickup locations and moving a King Purple Mattress! I recently moved into a house with my girlfriend. We took care of the smaller stuff like clothes and boxes. However, we both had beds, couches, dressers, etc in our respective apartments. We wanted to keep stress levels low and decided to get quotes for movers. I actually asked for a bid from a different moving company but opted in for Yelp's "Get quotes from other local businesses." Big Beard Moves was one of those. I was skeptical due to there being only a few reviews and some of the negative ones saying the owner, Nathan, needed to be present for productivity. However I am extremely happy with my experience and price. Jonathan and Ryan were very professional and quick. They even called saying they could come early. The move was from approximately noon-2:30pm on a Saturday in the summer heat. This is including the traffic on 35 from construction. They loaded my apartment in the Domain, followed me to my girlfriend's apartment in north campus, loaded her stuff up, drove to the new house, and then unloaded quickly and in the correct spots. I have a purple king size mattress which is extremely heavy and floppy once unrolled -- making it a difficult item to move. They used some ratchet straps to make it more maneuverable, and Jonathan threw it over his shoulder like it was nothing. This is a big deal because if they spent time struggling to move it, then they would be wasting your money. That's why I appreciate that they were quick. The mattress is also white and wasn't dirtied up from the move. As far as communication goes, Nathan had great communication via yelp and text. I spoke to Ryan on the phone before they arrived. I purchased a mattress and the seller arranged for delivery. The shipment arrived to this delivery company. The initial communications with me regarding delivery were weak at best, setting delivery time and not arriving. Rainy day altered schedule. When RYAN HUDAK arrived with his own truck and my mattress I was ecstatic!. Ryan single handed carried the mattress and topper to the bedroom and moved the old one to his truck. Returning to the bedroom he moved the mattress to the bed and quickly slid on the mattress cover, In addition, my husband needed help moving 2 pieces of furniture, which Ryan did enthusiastically.
