My favorite place in Chico to study! Their coffee is always great (locally roasted). They also have a great menu on pastries and lunch options. I appreciate their reasonable and affordable prices. Their layout is simple, but the energy is always bursting in here and it's homey. It's comfortable and there is good access to outlets for those who are studying. I've died and gone to heaven. Coffee in the morning and now wine in the afternoon! I love that I can grab a glass of wine (and I need to try their beer!) with a friend and hang out without being in a bar. I remember when I was pregnant there was really no place to go where I could get a decent non soda drink while my friends wine-d. Now there is! We all drank the Sav Blanc when I visited with friends and it was bold and crisp. I loved the little carafe it comes in. Then we ordered some small plates and they were all delicious. Light and fresh and fun. We got the asparagus (cooked perfectly) which had Parmesan cheese and lemon rind over it that you could dunk in garlic aioli. Then we got the Best Hot Dip, it was great! Plus I loved the grilled bread with it, yum. Lastly the baked Brie with a mandating marmalade and pine nuts. It was gooey, sweet, salty and the side salad just made the dish lovely. They're okay. The could be better. Their honey is cheap. I mostly get tea and when I want honey in my tea at a nice coffee shop where I'm paying for hot water and a tiny bag of ground plants, I really want it to be better than the honey at McDonald's. When buying my new house a few years ago, one of the major bonuses was that the cafe was just a short walk away. The food and beverages are fantastic. This review is all about the service. Pretty consistently the wait for my hot beverage is pathetically long. Yesterday I purposely ordered an iced tea as there were 2 drink orders in line. The barista finished the drink she was working and before even starting one of the drinks in line she wiped counters and went to the back for God only knows what then came back out and chatted with a coworker. I got my drink and added sweetener and stood around wondering how long it was going to take her to start the next drink....had I ordered a specialty drink I would have been there at least 10 minutes waiting for it..... think this would be a good goal to work on...... read more

How awesome that your favorite coffee house is now open for fabulous small plates and great wine and beer! I had the Brie with some wonderful chutney and pine nuts served with baguette and wild greens and a caprese salad with pesto. Both were delicious and inexpensive. The wine selection was very good and their special spritzer with Chardonnay, oranges and pineapple was not too sweet and very refreshing. Honey Creme Latte Great place to study and unwind

I have recently become a patron here after my new carpool buddy informed me that she needed to stop here every single morning. I am not a coffee shop kind of person, so I was skeptical, but it's been about 5 weeks and I am definitely loving Bidwell Perk. They have delicious food, amazing drinks (coffees and teas alike), and friendly staff. They have a teacher appreciation discount (yahoo!), a bring your own cup discount, and an extra discount for bring your own cup that says Bidwell Perk on it. The atmosphere is nice here, too. Totally chill with working internet and plenty of places to relax. There are two reasons I decided not to give 2 stars. The first is that I feel like it's a little pricey. $2 for brewed black tea when I bring my own cup is a little much, right? The second is that they are SLOW. Do not go here when you are in a hurry. It consistently takes them 5-10 minutes to toast a bagel for me in the mornings when the place is empty, and it takes 10-20 minutes when my friend orders an iced coffee. The wait ends up being worth it because it's yummy, but ugh! I have places to be! read more

One of my best friends simply adores this place, so I always give it a try whenever I visit my hometown, but it simply fails to impress me all that much. There is nothing wrong with the place, it simply is not my first choice for getting coffee. I like that if you buy beans they give you a "perk" of a free coffee or discounted specialty drink. The beans were pleasant, but nothing to write home about. The iced coffee doesn't really stay in my memory (clearly not horrible, but yet again obviously not too memorably delicious). The space is quite large and very relaxed; a good place to study before a big exam I'm sure. I really do appreciate the location. Read the reviews and figured I needed to try a mocha. Went this morning and had the Godiva mocha. Not sure how often I will be in Chico, but I will get all my mochas here. It is a great place. Nice decor, friendly service, and great coffee. This is what a coffee shop should be. After my previous experience at another coffee yesterday, which I reviewed, this was a real treat. I have a Latte and croissant every Sunday and they are consistently good. The croissants are buttery on their own but I get butter on the side too. I have really enjoyed the quiche, fruit, bran muffins and banana bread on past visits as well. The atmosphere is family friendly and it gets busy. I've been coming to this cafe/restaurant forever now. My favorite thing to get here is a blended soy mocha and a slice of their banana nut bread. it's all quite good. They have a lovely outdoor area where you can sit and hang out on nice days and a great indoor area if the outdoors are too hot/too cold. This place is perfect for whatever you are looking for. The service is always quite good and sometimes they'll even deliver the foods/drinks to your table which is always nice since they do call your name.
