Found this on yelp while visiting Chico. Great find. They have interesting drinks that I've never seen before and the breakfast sandwiches are very good. We got the brunch bagel with olive oil and Roma tomatoes wirh cream cheese. Also the bomb. Had scrambled egg, pesto, cream cheese, and artichoke hearts. Great! My daughter went with the cherry blossom white mocha. So unique. Super cute coffee house. Wish we were here longer to try more of their great drinks. read more

They have the best Latte in almost whole CA. Even moved to the bay area, I still can't find a place that can compete with their latte, atmosphere and the friendliness. I started coming here on Sunday mornings with a group of ladies about a year ago. The Latte is so good and the croissants are some of the best I've had. I also like the banana bread and bran muffin. It gets busy after 10:00am on Sundays so come early if your in a hurry. read more

This is my #1 coffee spot. The drinks are great whether I'm getting one of my favorite espresso drinks or trying a new tea. I come here almost every day heading out to work and get an iced Jordan almond white mocha, yum! The staff is always hard at work but takes the time to greet me and exchange a few words. I was having a horrible day... one of those you just want to be over but you can't go and curl up in a ball and sleep until the sun comes up because all of the crappy stuff that happened caused you to be cutting it WAY to close to a deadline for any kind of comfort... my home internet went down and I spent 2 hours on the phone with the tech guy trying to fix it and ended up with 2 hours less AND no internet... so I packed up and headed to the library that was closing early for the day (figures, don't we all just LOVE Murphy's law!) After being informed of the premature closing of the library I packed my stuff up once again and prepared myself for the inevitable trip to Starbucks to wait in an obscenely long line wasting even more precious time to purchase an obligatory sub-par drink to justify using their wifi connection. As I'm driving towards the nearest Starbucks I realize that I am going to pass Bidwell Perk- a place I had often heard about (all good) but had never gone to. I take a leap of faith- in desperate hopes that maybe doing something different will create even the tiniest shimmer of hope for anything good to happen after such a poopy day. I'm probably exaggerating, but at that moment in time I desperately needed and therefore completely appreciated the upbeat and positive staff, relaxed atmosphere, and WORKING internet. I frequently come to this place for coffe and lunch but today i was rathwe disappointed with treatment. I had plate, cup and tea pot plus my wallet and cane and was struggling to carry everything. Girl at counter instead of offering to carry it for me simply gave me advise. She said: "Maybe you should make two trips." Beyond inconsiderate. And very unprofessional. I got the soy vanilla nut latte and my sister got the honey cream latte and we wanted them less sweet and they was fantastic!! Two of the best coffees we have had. However they were a bit overpriced. Paid $5 something for a small. The cashier was very nice and didn't get all irritated when I asked her a million questions about their coffees. My go to coffee shop! I love their fancy coffee but even their black coffee is so yummy. I like to bring work to do here, grab a slice of quiche (their quiche is SO good!) and a cup of coffee - and my first refill on black coffee is free! They don't all tell you that though - seems hit or miss so I've accidentally paid twice a time or two? But that's ok, it's inexpensive and the customer service is always so good. It's comfortable and quiet, tons of seating, but it's a popular spot so it can still be hard to find a place to sit! I wish that it was easier to get on their wifi, I've never seen the password, you probably need to ask, and that's on me for not asking for it! I love Bidwell Perk. read more

Coffee is great and environment is so cute. However, the Cherry Blossom White Mocha is super super sweet to the point where I can barely taste the cherry blossom. Also, there was one worker at the cashier that just gave customers the rudest look and attitude ever. Female with short, dark brown hair. She's the only one who seems to never smile and always act reluctant to help customers. Look, I understand that working isn't always the funnest, but if you're not going to be a friendly presence on register, you should just work back of house or quit. I went to to Bidwell Perk for the first time today and got a Veggie Croissant and it was delicious. Exactly what I needed. The veggies were fresh and the dill aioli was amazing!! This was a quick pit stop in our road trip and we found the place on Yelp; with the glowing reviews we came there hungry. Just want to say that it's mainly coffee and my almond milk latte was good. The food was disappointing, scrambled eggs are microwaved. My oatmeal came in an instant box and my daughters toasted bagel still had the plastic attached. I love this coffee shop! I have lived down the street from it most of my life and I never went until this summer...and boy do I regret the lost years. My friends and I are trying a new coffee shop once a week and we went their last week only to return this week it was so good. Their prices are the same as Starbucks most the time so you can gauge the expense from that. The place is very cute and local. The murals on the ceiling and walls make you feel like you are in the park while the window lined wall brings in wonderful natural lighting. It is quite the local hub. We are there at 8 and usually stay 2-3 hours and the people come in waves. The baristas are always nice and willing to answer any questions. The coffee is wonderful and you are given 5 or 6 selections of black coffee. Also, all of their pastries look wonderful but I'm not a big breakfast eater so I just get the bagel with butter. This is definately a friendly atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for working on your laptop, chatting with friends or just reading a book. Tables for four or more are in the front of the shop with small 2-3 people tables lining the window and a lounge in the back with oversized chairs for reading. The patio area is covered and is wonderful in the morning before the summer heat kicks in. If you can only go to one coffee shop while in Chico, Bidwell Perk is the place to be. read more

After much difficulty deciding who would host this year's company holiday party, we contacted Bidwell Perk. The fee was very reasonable and the atmosphere made this year's party one of the best. The cafe was in fine form- the Christmas tree was up and lights were everywhere. Although we had only spoken about renting the space, Michelle and Gentry outdid themselves, playing host and hostess to all of our guests. When the need for espresso kicked in, Michelle and Gentry happily became our baristas and served an array of mochas and lattes. The service offered by these gracious owners cannot be beat and we will definitely be contacting them again next year. read more

I love this place! This coffee-shop-treasure is a well kept secret from most college students. That makes it a more enjoyable atmosphere. I am a student myself but usually don't tell others students about this. I only tell people who are staying in Chico as to not ruin the environment. I have coffee and a pastry here every Friday morning with one of my clients and we just get lost in the atmosphere. The coffee is amazing (try the Godiva Mocha, or Godiva Hot Chocolate for the little ones) and their teas (black vanilla hot tea) are to die for as well. They also have great blended beverages (their peach blended beverage is amazing). There is always some soft music playing in the background, sometimes live. There is plenty of outdoor seating and a complimentary drinking bowl for our four-legged friends. The interior has a separate room with cushy couches if you want to sit back for a while and read. Other wise they have tables for 2 and 4 and a few bar areas as well. There are plenty of local publications sitting around for you to enjoy, as well as a few games to play. There are very few products for sale, but the ones they have are great quality. They also do salads, sandwiches, and pasties. A great place to go for lunch or a casual date. I like bringing out-of-towners here to impress them. Chico has more to offer than just the quaint downtown, a pretty campus, and a bunch of drunk college students. I love Bidwell Perk. This is currently the only legit coffee shop that makes a correct CUP of bulletproof coffee. They actually use high quality MCT oil and blend it properly. They keep it clean and it's a great location for getting work and business meetings done. read more

The staff here is really friendly, and the space to sit is really nice. There are the standard tables as well as bigger chairs in the back to sit in that are more comfortable. They play good, classic music. The one irk I'd say is that their coffee isn't very strong compared to other places in the area. I LOVE how many different & unique coffee drinks they offer on the regular menu & as their specials!! There are always so many things that I want to try so it takes me awhile to decide, but the employees are always super friendly & helpful. It's super cute & cozy inside. Makes you want to just sit & drink coffee or tea there all day. Yummy drinks & food. Only downside is parking can be difficult.
