Herb Caen was a regular columnist for the SF Chronicle who coined the term Beatnik back in the 50's, and there is an homage to him on the menu. Bob Denver and Sinatra also made the cut. I watched as a man walked through the patio greeting and being greeted by employees and patrons alike. The atmosphere is one of a friendly neighborhood casual family-friendly restaurant and I LOVED it. I placed our order and was given a number for the table. The food was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. We weren't counting and the company was all we needed at the time. Once the food came, the waitress was able to get everything extra that we requested including the receipt I forgot to get and even though I thought they wouldn't be able to print it out, they did. The service was top notch, friendly, and smiling. When I left the tip, under my usual 20% no less, (due to lack of small bills, my bad), she smiled ear to ear and thanked me like it was her first tip. When you go, please tip well. The reaction is worth every cent of the tip. Food: we bought three meals, a lunch to go and two breakfasts for there. I had the "Sinatra your way" which is two eggs how you like them, toast, and potatoes. He had a veggie omelette, which he seemed to like a lot. Neither of us could finish our potatoes. They are fantastic rustic breakfast potatoes with peppers and other items sautéed together. The eggs had paprika and/or a pepper on them. Just enough kick to be interesting, not enough to push them away. I enjoyed my breakfast thoroughly. The only meh item was the jelly. Smuckers isn't high quality. I expected something with cane sugar as opposed to HFCS with the vibe of the place. Still not enough to lose a star. Definitely going back there.

While the wait was longer than usual, the atmosphere was filled with joy, kindness, and a real sense of community. The staff handled the busy evening incredibly well. They consistently thanked customers for their patience, even though no one seemed bothered by the wait because we all seemed to understand and expect it. I was genuinely impressed by the positive attitude of every staff member working the Monday night event. They radiated joy and patience and never appeared stressed or short-tempered despite how busy they were. Their communication with one another was seamless, and they were just as welcoming and attentive to every customer who walked through the door. In a community that has been grieving, the environment they created tonight was truly something special. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the evening such a positive experience while supporting such an important cause. The food was delicious as always!

I ordered a latte to go, and it was really good. While I was waiting, they had accidentally made the wrong iced drink for another order. Instead of throwing it away, they kindly offered it to me for free. I don't remember what the drink was called, but wow... it was absolutely delicious! It was such a thoughtful gesture and really made my day. Between the friendly service, great coffee, and cozy atmosphere, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.
