As a student at Chico State and originally from the Bay Area. I can assure you that Project Tea has the best boba and snacks in the Chico region. The drink quality and snacks really stand out and could compete with the various shops you might find all over the Bay Area. The popcorn chicken has a nice texture and has the desired taste you expect from a Taiwanese style snack. It isn't the non sense store bought chicken that you might find at other shops or restaurants that try to cut costs. I really appreciate how you can taste the tea in the various drinks. Many boba places get this wrong by using too much syrup or get it too watered down. However, the ratio and tea taste is perfect here. The experience with the staff members here for the past few months has been more than great. Overall, Project Tea is the only place you should go to for boba if you live near Chico State. read more

I ordered a milk tea with boba and had to pay 70 cents for it ontop of my other purchased item and I told the 2 girls in the front that I paid extra for boba and didn't get any for my order and they just stare at me and didn't even apologize or check the system to see if I had misclicked or mixed up the order and just stared at each other and shrugged and told me it didn't go through. I have no issue with the order at all necessarily but in these situations it's best to at least apologize and offer some type of reimbursement or something, not just be stared at. read more

Project tea used to be my favorite boba spot since it opened but it has unfortunately gone downhill over the past few months. They have changed up the menu too many times and removed some items. Some of their new menu items are out of stock and had been for over a month, such as the hot cheeto corn dog. I also wanted to try the boba panna cotta and it hasn't been in stock either. I went in this past weekend and ordered the ube coffee and it had an off flavor, I couldn't finish the drink. What I did drink was just enough to make my stomach upset. It was rich and had a nice amount of Boba added. I got a large. Total cost $6.80. They have a large assortment of specialty drinks available. Service is fast and courteous. Project Tea offers street food as well and looks delicious! Also reasonably priced. Project Tea also offers a rewards program and even a gift drink for your birthday. There was a constant flow of customers coming and going, but it remained pleasantly quiet. Customers also ordered on line and came in to pick up their drinks and street food. Project Tea has two cool kiosks to order your speciality drink or street food. Pics are provided with each drink and a description. Thai Iced Tea for example, is the base drink and then you add your ingredients like boba etc. The kiosk is easy to use to place your order and if you have difficulty they are happy to help you place your order. But even better, this place has an incredible atmosphere! The music is very pleasant coming from a quality, rich sounding speaker. The establishment has a real cool, tasteful vibe. Plenty of comfortable chairs/ tables and a comfortable leather couch that can seat up to three easily. There's even an assortment of games to play! Several customers were quietly playing some of the games at the tables. It's definitely a place to chill out and relax with friends or simply alone, like I did! It's very clean and looks brand new. I'd love to see the standard boba menu including green and black milk teas, however, the mango sago drink that I got wasn't bad. It was just alright. Went there on whim to check it out since I was on that side of town. Cool and simple setup for a tea house and they do have wireless payment on the kiosks where you order yourself. I got the Okinawa Dream and wife got Purple Cloud which is Taro flavored. Taro is a common flavor in Asian style drinks and desserts that is based off purple yams. Both drinks were good! They were out of the brown sugar boba unfortunately, but the crystal ones were fine. I got the Okinawa without boba. A large is $5 without boba, so cheaper than most teas and coffee. Their "fried brown sugar boba" tasted exactly like regular boba but I guess they make it a different way? Either way they were the perfect boba texture, not too hard and not too soft. These drinks remind me of the drinks back home, Bay Area. They also have the options like other Boba tea places of adjusting the sweetness and I believe the ice as well. Our drinks came with a lot of ice so definitely worth asking for less ice. Decent pricing roughly $5.49 for a large and $4.99 for their regular. Finally tried this place a couple days ago. Should not have slept on it so long! Full disclosure-I am not a boba fan but my wife is. Luckily for me, their selection of tea and slush drinks is amazing. First time I ordered the Pink Coco, wife ordered the Melon bliss. The drinks were so good we finished them before we even got home. We also ordered the waffle, KFC, and popcorn chicken. All were pretty good. The Korean sweet and spicy sauce on the KFC is really nice, not a flavor you can get elsewhere in Chico. Pro tip-the chicken is great WITH the waffle. This place is so good we had to go back the very next day. Second trip we got the Life's a Peach and Passion Galaxy drinks. So good! Service is prompt.
