Visited July 9 2026 in Orland California. This place is amazing! Bee themed with an actual observatory to watch the bees do their magic! It is classy inside and also has a beautiful outside patio for outdoor dining. Pet friendly! I wanted some high grade honey and I found it! The cinnamon infused honey was my favorite followed by the strawberry. Great on crostini bread! Don't overlook their delicious desserts! The menu is awesome because it's more healthy with great options. I would like to come back in the future to sample their dinner menu! It's an expansive place and I believe family owned. Not only do they have a sleek restaurant and bar they also have a flower and gift shop next door and some delicious chocolates! This place even has a gated grassy area for your pets! Plus a barn for events! TAMMY was wonderful ( I think one of the owners) that showed pride of what they offer with her family! Everyone was so friendly and hospitable! I wish I had more time to spend with Tammy about the bees and selection of honeys but it was a long day with a puppy in tow! Its a fantastic place and definitely worth visiting! A wonderful local offering in the small town of Orland. We decided to drive over from Chico to celebrate our weekly Wed-niversary - we got married on a Wednesday and we have a date on every Wednesday. Last night it was 4 years, 7 months, and 28 days. We always share this story with our server(s). We'd been there for lunch but this was our first dinner. First and most importantly, Hannah and Lucia were just wonderful. Friendly, professional and listened to all of our stories and shared a few of their own. For the most part, the meal was incredible. The Brussles Sprouts the best we've had. Big sprouts with feta, bacon,Hawiian honey crusted walnuts and a little spice. We'll never forget. My cocktail the Pomegrante Lemoncello Lemon Drop was luscious. Served straight-up in a martini glass sans ice. Thank you very much! I had the lettuce wraps for my entree (lettuce cups filled with sweet, spicy & tangy slaw, crushed won-ton strips, soy herb chicken breast) - again, the best - and shared one with my huband! Excellent portion, I brought two home. My husband had the Chicken Marsala. The mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and seasonal vegetable were wonderful. But the Chicken was lacking in flavor - no essence of the Marsala - we both agreed. I had also ordered some Hive-made pickles - they need more pickling spices and some crunch. One other small matter was that our table was off blance (the two-top by the sidedoor that looks out on the side street). We did let Hannah and Lucia know about all of these good and bads. We loved The Hive! My girlfriend lives in Redding and I'm in Dixon. We met up at The Hive in Orland for dinner. It was the first time for me and I fell in love with it! The ambience is adorable, yet upscale. We were approached by a hostess and when she found out it was our first time, she gave us a mini-tour and background explanation. She sat us at a table for 2 and we were able to chat comfortably. We ordered pretty quickly and then our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts to share and Mara got the Cobb Salad and I ordered the Steak Salad. The Brussels Sprouts was delicious. Perfectly sweet and a little spicy with a crunch! Both our salads were filling and tasty. The bread and honey butter were a great start to the meal. The entrance to the bathroom is outside, so keep that in mind in inclement weather. This was my first time at The Hive. My friends & family have raved about it for at least a year. I met my son & GF for brunch & was not disappointed. We sat at the VERY large/long bar with THE most comfortable seats. My son had Gorgonzola burger & fries, GF had bacon-cheese burger & fries & I had really good chilaquiles! The only less than perfect was I ordered over medium eggs & I got well done eggs, which would have helped with the spice level. The chilaquiles were still great, I can't say that for other places I've had them. The bartender, Evan was our server, he was fun & great service. He made a great expresso martini as well. Drove from Red Bluff to Orland for lunch after church today. I had a pastrami Rueben sandwich which was delicious. My wife had a chicken sandwich on focaccia and she was impressed. We've been to so many places where they get the brussels sprout wrong . The food looked artistic and plated well. The only negative I would say is the honey walnut shrimp sauce was a little bit too sweet. I personally didn't want to finish the quinoa on the bottom due to the sweetness. Great place to stop on a road trip! Unique and yummy. Worth the price in my opinion. I had the chilaquiles special, which was really flavorful and well done. It had meat cooked along with the chips and the sauce was really rich. My husband had the Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was very good. Again, very good quality ingredients. My kids had the chocolate chip pancakes and grilled cheese. I like that breakfast was still available for lunch. The pancakes were really delicious, I did help him finish those pancakes. They had a cute gift shop area with some different honey products but the highlight for my family was the bee observatory. That was so cool! And my kids were mesmerized. There were other parts to the restaurant we didn't try, including a café, a case of pastries. If I was local, this should be a regular spot for me. Staff were all very personable and attentive, and I was greeted by a number of people. The building doesn't look like much from the road, it's a bit hidden, but the interior and exterior of it were all recently updated and very modern. Not sure what happened to my review but doing it over: Perhaps the best turkey focaccia sandwich I have had in a long time. The turkey tastes fresh roasted and love the fresh focaccia. I swapped pepperjack for mozzarella and enjoyed it with a champagne vinaigrette salad, dressing was great. The staff is awesome and they always welcome our dogs. Every time I've gone to Hive, I've had nothing but I still are experience anytime my friends or family are in town. We go here for Sunday morning brunch. I've had flowers delivered. I purchased, honey. I've got cupcakes from the bakery and picked up Epic food whenever I did not feel like cooking. The staff are super friendly. The ambience is upbeat and chic, menu has high-quality ingredients and we love their champagne. This rating is based on two recent experiences. The first was a catering order I placed over the phone for delivery to a residential address. I think (Mindy) was her name and she was very easy to coordinate with, gave suggestions, pricing, and the delivery was right on time. I heard lots of great things about the food but I couldn't try it as I am allergic (ordered wings, garlic bread, potato salad). The 2nd was an in-person visit. Pros were that the server was very friendly, the place was cute and large, nice portions and good variety. The actual service was extremely slow. We had a reservation for 5 and were seated promptly. It took 45 mins for our food to arrive and they had put cheese in my omelette when I asked for no cheese. Took another 25 mins to get a new omelette. Took another 15 mins to get 2 pieces of dessert for the kids. We were comped half of my omelette price but really? At that point just give it free. Food itself was good. So a solid 3.5 star experience. One of the better places in town though I'm sure. read more

It is my daughter's birthday and this was her choice to have her first legal drink. This is the crown jewel of Orland, what a beautiful spot. It has a spot where they sell honey, a coffee bar, restaurant and well stocked bar too. The staff is super knowledgeable and very professional, they really make sure you are having a good time. There are several separate venues where you can have large or small gatherings, it is a one stop shop for fun. We were a party of 6 people, we were celebrating the holidays and a birthday. Our server was Evan, I believe he was bartending too, interesting? He introduced himself as our server and asked who the birthday person was. We brought in our wine, and we were informed of the corkage fee, no problem. Though he only opened one out of the three bottles. He never poured any of the bottles, in the beginning or ever throughout. The bill was dropped without offering dessert and no birthday dessert. We stumbled on the Hive while driving home during Labor Day weekend! The first thing to point out is how delightful their patio was. Traveling often with out pup we're usually sitting outdoors and this was a nice patio for sure. The server I wish I could remember her name was an absolute gem! She was so sweet and would take time to talk to each of her customers! But I must admit every person there was so kind! Now to the food! The food was decadent! My husband got the open face frittata and he enjoyed it to the fullest! I got the stuffed French toast that came with some of their honey and it was to die for! We're not from the area and stopped by during a road trip based on Yelp reviews. The restaurant itself is very clean and pretty, staff are friendly, and seems like this is the only place of its kind in the area and right off the highway amongst gas stations and warehouses so I understand how it can be all the rage. Beignets: We sat at the bar for lunch and did an initial order of beignets while deciding what meals to order from the menu. What we actually got were dense sugar donuts in the shape of giant beignets but be warned, these are NOT beignets! I've been to New Orleans countless times and have had beignets and have also made them myself, and these were not anywhere close to it. So maybe renaming them donuts would be nice. Decor & theme: They sell honey products and have a beehive situation happening. So along with that, the place has a mismatch feeling of a speakeasy, New Orleans, rustic farmhouse, mid century, and hipster feel. I couldn't grasp the concept but would overall call it "trendy hipster", which I shoulda been warned by on how the prices would look. Food & Pricing: Meals are overpriced and menu concept is also scattered similar to their decor & theme. There were brunch items, salads, and then randomly burritos and beignets. We ordered two scrambles and waited a long while (40 mins) for it to come out as if someone had already eaten half of the meal. They were both three egg scrambles but looked like a one egg situation. There was more cheese than eggs. Maybe our fault here for not ordering non-scrambles because other plates coming out from the kitchen were heaps of food. We were extremely disappointed. The rosemary potatoes were stale and pebbles of stone- I tried to stab my fork in them and a few flew off my plate because they were solid hard. The server also forgot to put in my toast order. We paid about $17-$20 for each plate. As I said, we're not from the area and maybe I just missed the mark on doing any research on what this place is about. Just leaving an honest review here. Wouldn't be back but if you're in the area and would like a pretty place to go to, I guess this could work. read more

Excellent service for dinner on a Saturday night in April. Kona Burger was very nice. The fresh brioche bun was good, the meat was thick and cooked as requested as well as the rest of the toppings were very nice. Included fries were pretty good. $18. The blackened salmon (farmed raised and a bit too dry) came with rice and 4 different fresh veggies which all were cooked perfectly which really added to the overall dish. $33. The special Caprese salad was good. I suggest ordering this in the summer months when locally grown ripe bright red tomatoes are available which this dish presented as it was could be really really great. $14. We appreciated their very nice table cloth and matching cloth napkins both which added to the nice feel and ambience of having dinner at the Hive. We will be back. read more
